★★★★☆

A very smooth and subtle tea. A nice morning cup of tea 🍵

The leaves were light but the tea brewed darker than expected at 2 min. For my taste, it was just to grassy and it left a dry feel on my mouth

I liked this. A nice, light, not-too-grassy tasting green tea. A bit of a fruity taste in the forefront and an unusual aftertaste that I can’t quite put my finger on how to describe that is preventing me from giving this one five stars.

I'm a tea groupie for these unadulterated, straight from the source styles. The tea is allowed to speak for itself, but you better lean in close because it will be whispering, not shouting. Its cute little snail shape full of whispyness adds a touch of whimsy. The scent is like seaweed mixed with floral. The taste is clean and vegetal with just a hint of smoke on the back end. It has a nice round mouthfeel that satisfies. This one will steep up quite a few times, so clear some space on your calendar to really sit and reflect on this blend. Sip this and smile! Happy Sipping!

There is the aroma of fresh green hay effusing from the twisted green leaves with white, fuzzy baby hairs in the CommuniTea packet. They open slowly like small, green grass snakes unraveling in the morning sun. I steep them for 3 minutes so they have a chance to awaken. They release a golden liquor that is fresh, sweet, and astringent at the same time. Such a soft buttery feel on my tongue as I sip. The aroma and flavor reminds me of walking in the wet spring through fields of fresh flowers and grasses. The finish has a dry astringency that is a bit biting as the tea cools. This is slightly calmed with ¼ teaspoon of Truvia sweetener (to 10 oz) which also awakens the slightly sweet fruitiness of the tea. Also, only steeping for 1 ½ minutes helps keep the tea light and sweet. Many steeps. (1st steep: 3 mins @ 180ºF, subsequent steeps: 1 ½ mins @ 180ºF + sweetener).

Pi Lo Chun is a nice, simple green tea. It’s flavor is light and clean and mildly vegetal. As the tea cools, however, that vegetal note becomes more predominant, so I preferred this tea hot. Although the tea seemed to have a touch of bitterness, it is slight and not worth reconciling with sweetener. I’m not a green tea aficionado, but I imagine this would be an ideal tea for those who love green tea.

This tea is a deliciously smooth green, with almost no astringency and a smooth, buttery feel. I get notes of edamame with just a hint of a floral aftertaste, almost like a Jasmine tea. The aftertaste is so pleasant that I am enjoying taking my time between sips to savor it!

This is a nicely balanced green tea - a little grassy, a little smoky, but very smooth. A perfect green tea for someone who is just beginning to expand their palate.

The leaves are a beautiful color, and are so soft and light to the touch. I think I have found my new favorite green tea!

While there are notes of the slight spinach-like flavor most green teas have when on their own, there's a sweet undertone and brightness that reminds me of freshly snapped peas. A pleasantly floral and light note that makes for a very complex but delightful tea!

This tea is much more up my wheelhouse. Soft with a slight floral smoke that I can only relate to an old favorite (not found here sorry yall). One I wouldn't drink cold, too pure to be forgotten about, but it does pair well with some soft fruits teas (think peach or mango)

I made this iced because that is how I drink green tea when I drink it. Rarely will green tea be a choice for me because overall I just don’t care for it. This was not for me.

This brews up to a very pale cup with a faint, floral aroma. It has a distinctive green tea flavor with a smooth, full body. Tastes a tiny bit smoky, definitely sweet and a little bit of mineral. Has a clean astringent finish. Refreshing cup!

This was different from any green tea I’ve tried. There were a lot of layers going on, and I was pleased with the buttery flavor, but there’s a heavier flavor that’s hard to describe, deep green and somewhat smoky. The leaves are artfully twisted and very pretty.

Not normally a big fan of green tea. I prefer the stronger taste of black tea. But...this green tea has real character and an interesting aroma and taste. I really enjoyed it! No grassy notes...just a light, slightly sweet with earthy notes, lovely cup of tea! Brewed at 180F, 2 minutes. Nice!

Listen, im a love of the greens. So to me this feels like a ' i just want something to sip on while i read a book or watch tv' kind of tea. It's not super exciting but it's still subtle enough to not just taste like nothing.

Sampled with CommuniTEA on 5/14/21: I found this to be a very light, savory green tea. The taste was much more mellow than the grassier green teas I typically gravitate towards, but it was a pleasant experience all the way through. I was getting toasted grain notes on the scent and the initial taste, with melon and light citrus notes on the back end. This will make a perfect addition to a green tea stash for days when grassiness isn’t as desirable. 2.5mins at 185F

This is a unique, lovely green tea that I'm quite taken with! It's smell is hard to place but somehow familiar and warm, it's a lovely light yellow color and has a floral and sweet taste. It's lovely!

Lite yellow liqueur, full-bodied green. It got a little bitter at only 175°F 2.5 mins. Second steep was much better, it mellowed out a bit.

This Is an updated version of my 14 May 2020 communiTEA review. It’s one of my favorite “go-to” green teas. Tiny dark and light green fluffy tea leaves were noted in my packet. They appeared to be hand-rolled into tiny spirals. Inviting floral aromas were noted.

I had 3.18 grams of tea, enough for a 12.75 ounce steep. From prior experiences with this tea, I have found that a first steep for two minutes and a second steep for one and a half minutes at 175°F gave best results.

When hot, mild sweet vegetal and floral flavors were noted. No sugar was added.

When warm, mild fresh garden sweet pea flavors were noted. Floral flavors remained mild. Mild and smooth buttery tastes were a nice addition. Moderate peppery zings were noted.

This tea provided a very pleasant umami mouthfeel of flavors all the way to an acceptably mild astringent finish. If you don’t like grassy greens, give this one a try. BTW, I actually like both, depending on my mood. (1st steep: 2 mins/2nd steep: 1 min 30 secs @ 175ºF, no additions)

Love this green tea. I usually prefer something stronger and smokier but it's nice to have something smooth from time to time. You won't regret this one.

Wonderful green tea, very soft and velvety, an unusual taste compared to the traditional green teas. It is very nice. Highly recommend.

In the packet the leaves have a thin spiral appearance which i think looks cool. The aroma is a strong leathery scent, with some smoke and mint. It brews a pale straw slightly hazy color. Unlike many teas most of the dry aroma carries through to the mug... leather and smoke. The mouthfeel has unique oily and salty sensations. Overall 2.5 stars. Below 3 because the flavors aren’t appealing to me but greater than 2 because there aren’t any undesirable qualities.

If you like slightly sharper teas with a hint of citrus/apricot then this is fantastic. Can definitely get bitter if you overdo it but I can actually enjoy bitterness as part of a tea's taste (like with certain beers or other foods). It is quite fluffy and uses a heaping teaspoon so you'll probably go through it quickly.

I got this tea in a communiTEA portion and thought it was terrific! The description from Adagio calls pi lo chun 'floral-smoky' and that's exactly spot on. It's not what I normally go for, but I appreciate getting an opportunity to expand my palate.

A classic tea with a middle of the road flavor. Green and fresh but a little earthy and dusty. Second infusion tasted like something I’ve had before but couldn’t put my finger on...Aha! Miso soup! Delicious! Multiple infusions from my gaiwan. I actually only steep it about 30 seconds the first time then increase by 15 each infusion

A nice green tea. Green tea is probably one of the teas I drink least, so I would probably be just as happy with a less expensive green tea. That probably wouldn’t be the case if I had a more developed green tea palette.

Surprisingly bland. Smells good in the bag (floral) but scent doesn't carry over to the cup. First steep was as instructed, 180F and 2mins, with one sugar crystal, resteep was 205F and 2mins without sugar crystals. Thought perhaps I didn't use enough, added more tea the next time; still bland. Has a faint green tea scent like perhaps sencha, and on the last sip a faint 'green' taste. Pi Lo is soft and subtle like a pillow... I like subtle but this is too boring for daytime.

Got this again with the communiTEA box. Tried it brewed with a variation of the Chinese method seen in another review; first steep 208F 30sec, second steep 208F 1min -- better and more flavorful though I still prefer jasmine varieties, such as Rishi moonlight jasmine.

I'm not a huge green tea fan and it hurts to say that because I really want to like it. I'm hoping the more I try green teas that I'll develop a taste for them.
