Love the flavors! I'm always a big fan of lychee and rose, and they go very well with the green tea taste
This tea was a step away from my usual selection of spiced and flavoured black teas. The smell of the tea in the pouch had me feeling a bit uncertain as it was quite floral and had an almost... wine-like smell? Perhaps that was the lychee, since some folks mentioned it having a grape-like quality. Overall, I found it enjoyable to drink. The floral smell was stronger than the taste, though this is still a rather floral and sweet tea. I've only tried it hot so far, but I imagine it may be even better iced.
The rose is very forward in this, so if you like rose it will be great. I was expecting more subtlety, so I was not a fan but it was still a good tea. If you like rose, I would expect you to like this quite a lot.
I was apprehensive because of the rose rose isn’t my favorite flavor or smell but I love lychee the tea is good the rose throws me off a tiny bit but it’s still pretty yummy if I don’t think too hard about the rose I think I’d
Enjoy it more
As others mentioned, the lychee and rose flavors are strong here. I don't often like fruity teas, but I found the aroma really delightful in this case. I'm drinking it right now!
I was surprised by the light flavor of this tea. I am a lover of rose teas, and although the rose flavor is delicate, it is still the main flavor that you get. I didn t pick up on the lychee. I made this as a hot tea, but I think it s probably best iced. Actually I think this would be best as a cold brew so that all the flavors meld and the green tea really shines. @adagioteas
This is a wonderful tea. The flavor is very subtle but has a delicate smell. I love to take a deep breath before making the tea itself! Pretty colors also!
Seeing Lychee Rose Green in today’s communiTEA intrigued me but did make me apprehensive. Although I’ve enjoyed previous experiences with lychee I am not a fan of green tea in general and a little bit of rose can sometimes overpower other ingredients. Opening the packet intensified the uneasy feelings for me. This smelled like the strangest and most off-putting thing to sit in my steeper in months. I imagined a stiflingly perfumed funeral bouquet at a freshly-mowed graveyard, inexplicably doused in vinegar. Bizarre. This dry tea waited for 1.5hrs as I debated whether to even bother steeping at all. I went for it. 2min in 180F water and it was still too green, too grassy, overwhelmingly floral. Bleh. I added honey. How on earth did this become more bitter with the addition of honey? More flowers, more green, somehow acrid, like I had taken a bite out of that imagined graveside display. Nope. Nopeity nope-nope. Down the drain it went as this could not be improved, at least not for me, and life is too short for unpleasant tea. This might suit someone else well if they like a doggedly floral green base and fermentation. I’m sorry but it’s been 9hrs+ and I still have the ghosts of sour roses in my mouth.
I am not a fan of green tea or rose so I knew going in that this was probably not going to go well. Oddly, I didn't get any rose flavor but lots of sweet tasting grass. There was a fruit flavor of some kind that I assume was the lychee but not having ever tasted it before I can't be any judge of how it translated in the cup. I am still on the hunt for a green tea that doesn't taste like grass. This wasn't it. Find Woodie's review of this tea and know that I agree wholeheartedly. Same, Woodie. Same.
Today's CommuniTea packet is lychee rose green, made of green tea, apple pieces, rose petals, and lychee and rose flavors. I generally find lychees cloying and floral teas are hit or miss, so I decided to cold brew this. The tea was very pretty to look at -- I love the contrasting colors -- and I could recognize the smell of roses and lychees. When brewed, the aroma was thankfully less intense, as were th flavors, and the tea was refreshing. It will ever become a favorite, but it is something I'd be willing to try again. Cold brewed in the refrigerator in 12 ounces of water for about six or seven hours.
I am getting to like some of the greens a bit more - perhaps the proper temperature helps!
This smelled good when opened - I could see and smell the apples and the roses. I'm not a huge rose fan, but fortunately this was not too overpowering in the flavor. For those who like floral tea, this would be a nice pick.
I am giving 5 stars because I don't believe in giving low stars simply because I hate a flavor. I hate lychee passionately. So I hated this tea, which means it is accurately flavored, so anyone who likes lychee will like this tea. .
Springtime afternoon
the path winds gently along
sweet scent in the air
I will say the second I opened the packet, the aroma was kind of off putting for me. After it was made, I pushed past the aroma to give it a chance and it wasn't too bad. Could taste the mix of floral and fruity. As it cooled, it did taste a bit better. I probably wouldn't get this one again.
Lychee and apple with a hint of rose on a subtle green base. Rose can be hit or miss for me, but the rose in this blend perfectly complimented the unique lychee flavor without tasting like potpourri. Sweetened with some honey, this tea was delicious and perfect for these early spring days.
Very floral. Heavy perfume fragrance. Srtong rose and sweet fruit flavors with underlying hints of the green tea. I can see how this tea could be overpowering for anyone who dosen't care for floral teas but personally I think the combination of flavors works well toghter.
an alright tea! its not something id pick up again, but its not bad in my opinion. i dont get much lychee flavor--nor do i get all too much melon or grape. there IS some kind of fruity flavor under the rose taste, but i cant quite place my finger on it as its too faint and the rose is a little too overpowering to properly figure out what that is
I enjoyed this cup of green tea with a delightful smell and taste of lychee and roses. The tea itself is gorgeous and the aroma is lovely. I steeped at 175 degrees for 4 minutes. The flavors were just as strong in my cup, and were enhanced by a little raw honey. Delicious!
I liked this tea better than I remembered. It has a light fruit flavor and not too grassy. I steeped using 180 F water x 2 min and added ~ 1/4 tsp monk fruit sweetener.
Wow. What a delicate but powerful tea! The Green tea leaves a lingering grassy undertone that balances the sweet lychee and apple well. Overall, the scent is very sweet and the taste is just slightly less sweet.
This is one of my favorite flavored green teas. It somehow manages to straddle the line between fruity and floral without being too overwhelming in either case.
A delicate and mild green tea with lychee flavouring and rose. To me, this was a little too bland - but there's nothing to hate (assuming you brew it at 180F). A solid 'meh' from me.
This is nice. Strong rose notes for sure. I think I'll like it even more iced.
My absolute favorite green tea. Second brew was just as good as the first. A very juicy cup, would be awesome iced.
Update 4/12/22 Cold brewed for 4 hours and drank it cold. Really good this way !
I don't believe that I have actually tasted lychee before. The aroma from the packet was fruity and flowery. I don't mind flowers in tea as long as it isn't too much. This tea was actually much better than I had anticipated. The rose balanced out the fruitiness and it was an enjoyable cup of tea. I drank this hot but imagine this would be wonderful cold as well.
Delicious tea! The lychee flavor was indeed front and center in this blend. I tried this hot and really enjoyed it.
Being a green tea and rose tea fan, this tea is a definite winner for me. I have had Lychee tea before and always enjoyed the flavor notes it added to teas.
This teas blend of green tea, rose, and lychee offers a cuppa of delightful green tea with strong grape /melon notes that are followed by a peaceful “rose” mouth feel.. (If only all mouths smelled and tasted like Roses!)
This is going to be a definite purchase for me as I am anxiously wanting to try it iced. I am thinking this tea will provide a exotic summer iced tea.
Steeping notes — 185 degrees for 5+ minutes in a tea traveler mug. Grandpa Style.
I’ve had this one hot and iced, and I prefer it hot. The lychee and rose flavors are quite bold while the green tea base mingles in the background. It’s a lovely springtime sip.
Excellent smell with nice fruit bits in the blend. I steeped it in my VelociTEA kettle at 180 for 3 minutes and got a nice bright cup with the perfect balance of fruity and floral. I don't usually like flowery teas, but the combination here of rose and lychee are a natural partnership. Neither hog the stage. And I'm left with a fresh feeling of spring. The green tea base is a great stage as I can sense the grassy arena without it being overly vegetal. It's already on my wish list after a delightful experience in the CommuniTEA box.
Lychee is a sickly-sweet flavor in my book, and adding rose didn't help. Not for me.
This tea tastes as good as it looks and smells. Fruity, floral, delicate with a perfume aroma. A tea that appeals to the senses. I drank my sample hot, but I imagine this would make an excellent ice tea. A summer favorite for sure!
A definite must try--if you are a Green tea fan or a Rose fan. Lychee puts a unique nuance to make this blend lightly fruity. It's a magickal voyage into the Green Tea Realm & Rose Magnificence! I even added some extra Rose Petals, as..I love *Rose* just that much! Remember to *Steep this right,* follow brew suggestions--for best results!
First off, I am not a rose or green tea fan. That being said, I found this blend interesting. Without the Lychee it would have been a hard no, but that flavor tied it all together in a good way. If this blend sounds at all interesting, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I'm glad I tried it.
Today's CT packet presented with a rose and fruity aroma when opened. I like lychee so this tea was quite pleasant with the added apple pieces and rose petals. Sometimes the rose addition can be too much, but I didn't feel it was the case in this tea. A very mellow, fruity tea that is complimented by a lovely brewed aroma.
This was so much better than I anticipated! I’ve never had lychee and generally don’t like rose. But this cup is light and balanced from the smell to the taste. Excellent tea!
CommuniTEA portion: Went the cold brew route with this one because I know I'm not a big floral fan. The tea is beautiful and brews up a lovely color. Initial sip is refreshing and light but the back notes for me are way too floral for my tastes. I can see where many would love this though. Just not my fave. Appreciate the taste test!
Light and delicious tea! No overpowering flavors here. Would be a good 'starter tea' for someone unfamiliar with green tea.
A very gentle green tea with a strong rose scent and a light lychee flavor. I really enjoy this tea, but if you do not care for rose, you may find this one off-putting, as there is quite a bit. Regardless, this is in my Top 10 teas. I enjoy it with a bit of sugar. 2:40 mins @ 180°F
Updated review: I brewed it hot this time and it was better - still not something I would buy, but drinkable. It was less grassy and floral, and overall the flavors were better balanced, they just aren't flavors I personally enjoy. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 2.5 min @ 180F)
Original review (Aug 14th '21): This was bad for me based on my personal tastes, but I recognize that it wouldn't be bad if you liked green tea and rose flavors. But that was exactly what it was, green tea with heavy rose flavor and a mild fruitiness in the background. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; cold brewed)
While this tea wasn't horrible it just wasn't for me. The lychee in it was just weird.
I cold brewed this because I thought I would like it better this way and I was right. This smelled 'juicy' but it tasted mostly of roses. I usually don't like rose in my tea but somehow the lychee made it taste good. This is a good combination of flavors. It surprises me that I liked this and I would gladly drink this again.
Lychee flavors are strong and juicy at the front of this sip (very similar to sweet grape flavors with a hint of melon), settling as sweet rose appears. The entire sip is balanced beautifully by earthy, grounding green tea flavors. This cup feels like early summer days before humidity has settled in.
Though delicious hot, this tea begs to be iced! I can't wait to keep it in my supply this summer. This was a wildcard favorite for me, as I don't usually enjoy rose in tea. Definitely try a sample if you're curious - this is an incredibly unique tea!
I typically do not like rose in my tea, this one I can make an exception for. The lychee seemed to balance it out and made for a fairly pleasant green tea. Slightly floral as lychee seems to be already, it matched the rose perfectly giving it a sweet fruitiness instead of that 'grandma's rose soap' flavor. Not bad!
So I was a little afraid when I first opened the bag with the heavy smell of roses that everything else would be overpowered, but surprisingly it wasn't too bad! The lychee is very light but the flavor is there; I do wish it were a lot stronger though. I personally wouldn't choose to drink this as the smell and flavor are reminiscent of something out of bath and body works, but for someone who likes fruity floral teas this is a great choice!
Loved this selection! Fruity and delicious. Had it hot but would make a delicious iced tea👍
This tea is lovely and flavorful. The smell is strong coming out of the packet, and the taste is very rose/tropical fruit prominent. Flavors are pleasant and lingering, much more notable than the taste of the green tea itself in the mix. The leaves seem to do well in a variety of water types, temperatures, and steep times. This is not a tea for someone who doesn t like rose or lychee, but if you like floral and fruity teas, this might just be your new favorite. @adagioteas
I have to buy by far my favorite tea. To me this is what tea should taste like. Excited to have this tea again this month!
LYCHEE ROSE GREEN
Green teas can be iffy for me, but once again I was pleasantly surprised.
Recommended 2-3 minutes @ 180*F. I steeped 10 oz for 3 minutes @ 185F because I don’t have a 180 setting on my teapot, and added 1.5 tsp of tea/rock sugar.
I didn’t know what to expect from this tea. I’ve never heard of Lychee. Upon opening the packet a very sweet, fruity aroma that I had difficulty identifying, maybe the Lychee? It reminds me of pineapple-even though there is no pineapple in it. It’s a pretty green tea with red/bright pink pieces. Some of the aroma fades during steeping. Once steeped, the tea was a light tan color which surprised me. A moderate aroma, still fruity/sweet remains after steeping. I found this tea to be a very tasty, moderately sweet/fruity sip while hot. There was a nice rose taste to this that doesn’t overpower, but compliments the green tea beautifully. A little grassiness is evident as it cools and the green tea becomes more predominate. Five stars. I’m going to wish list this one.
Update!!! CommuniTea Packet I made iced tea from the packet-- and sample. Iced tea still Freaking Delicious! lol
August 12, 2020: Old Review; I do have to say ..that the tea hot is very kind of gross like rotten fruit. I have extra sample so I Iced the tea and it is Freaking. Delicious.
