The large twisted "yellow tea" leaves brew to a lovely golden yellow color. It has soft, airy notes and a dry, crisp, fruity character.

Pretty nice green tea, light flavor, prefect with a little sugar.

It was really really bittef even with sugar. Very smokey as well, just not my cup of tea.

Delicious tea flavor, nothing exceptional, but what is there is really good.

This green tea is light yet still very flavorful.

★★★★★

Light, mellow, and smooth. This is one of my favorite green teas.

I don't like this tea at all, but I can see how people would. It's far too earthy for my taste.

The color this brews to is a lovely, pale amber, but the flavor is uninspiring. It's light but bitter, and lacking the smoothness found in other greens. It's not bad, but other than the color, it's nothing too impressive. It also leaves a strong aftertaste. Not one I'll return to.

★★★★☆

This is a classic full-flavored, bold green tea with a sharp, almost vegetal finish. I got this as a CommuniTEA daily mystery tea, and laughed when I peeked at the back and just saw 'Ingredients: green tea.' It's a basic standard, but a good one!

I don't think I care for pure green teas much. A bit astringent and grassy, but not as much as your typical green.

I generally don't care for green teas. That said, this one has a nice mild flavor, likely to the yellow tea. I wouldn't but it but I certainly will enjoy the cup.

While I enjoy a good flavored tea, nothing beats a straight-up tea with no additives. This is a very good yellow-green tea with a very vegetal flavor. My sample had a lot of broken leaves, so I was very careful on the temp and steep time to avoid bitter. Managed just a slight astringent edge, but pleasant and found that it added to its character.

Very delicate, slightly sweet, wonderous green tea. I'll be stocking this one.

★★☆☆☆

I really wanted to like this, but I made it according to the reccomendation on the package and it was SO bitter.

★★★★★

Very light and nice in my opinion. I enjoyed it a lot and will be adding it to my list of greens for when I don't want other read bit don't want the earthy taste of stronger greens.

I was super excited when I received this sample, as I had no idea Adagio carried yellow tea (I wish they'd put it in a separate category, because I'd have gotten it immediately as soon as I saw it). The last time I had yellow tea was over 15 years ago. At the time, it was exceedingly difficult and expensive to obtain, so, even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, I stopped buying it. The color of this tea is a lovely shade of yellow.
The aftertaste is a little more bitter than I remember. A shorter brew time might fix that. In any case, plain, it was very tasty despite the bitter aftertaste, tasting vegetal (maybe like Brussels sprouts) with light floral notes. I don't normally add sugar to lighter teas, but I do for writing reviews. After adding a small amount of sugar, the bitterness was less pronounced, but there was an overly-dry mouthfeel. Flavor-wise, the sugar pushed the floral flavor forward, to the extent that the vegetal flavor became the note. I actually really like floral teas, so I enjoyed the sweetened version other than the mouthfeel. I'll definitely be adding this to my wishlist, and will update the review once I'm able to determine whether or not a shorter brew time improves the bitterness. (3 mins @ 175)

This is a nice light green tea great for afternoon drinking. Not too grassy, and I taste a note of white grapes in it.

Accidentally used too much water in the first steeping, but the second was really good. Light and airy, like the description promises, but not flavorless by any means. Will consider this next time I'm in the mood for an unflavored, no-nonsense, premium green tea.

★★★★☆

I was hoping for something like an old school Teavana Golden Dragon. What I got was instead a bit more vegetal. It is still good, but vegetalness is not something I prefer in my teas.

VERY light tea. If you prefer strong flavors, this is not the tea for you.

I was the one to name this tea through a Facebook contest when it was first introduced to Adagio like... 7 years ago now? A fact I m still very very proud of and something I still shot from rooftops today. (I named this tea y all!) Annnnywho, it s still a favorite. A very light and mild vegetal tea with airy floral notes. You don t see many yellow teas. It s not like there s a bunch to compare it to. But I love the color and the crisp mouth feel. Definitely worth your time.

Light and floral. You may like this if that's what you're into. Not my favorite, but I may try in a blend and see how it goes.

I am not a fan of green tea, but wanted to try this out because of the health benefits of green tea. It wasn't for me, but my husband, who enjoys green tea, did like this.

★★★★☆

Good but not great. Will try again with some honey, I think it would be a good one to lightly sweeten.

★★★★☆

More robust than a regular green tea and earthy. But still a enjoyable tea. Just pay attention to steeping directions so it doesn’t get too strong.

★★★★★

mix it with dragonwell, cuts the cost and they are very good together

★★★★★

Hunan gold is an expensive tea, but worth it, as you can double-steep. It's very smooth and mellow.

★★★★★

I'm slowly transitioning from black teas (and coffee) to green teas. I do not like flowery or 'flavored' teas, other than Jasmine pearls, nor do I enjoy the more 'grassy' tasting greens. Hunan Gold has been, and continues to be, my favorite go too green tea. Beautiful golden color, even on second steeping, with a full flavor very close to a light Darjeeling to me. I'll be ordering more very soon. Update: ordered some today. :-)

The Hunan Gold tea is an absolutely delightful green tea. It doesn't look green—it looks gold, like its name indicates.

It doesn't taste like a normal green tea either. It has this airy, sweet taste, but sort of...husky quality to it as well. The Hunan Gold tea has decent enough of body and flavor that it doesn't feel like you're drinking weak hot water—it has a strong enough impression that it has you craving more but it doesn't overwhelm you either. Steeping it for long periods of time doesn't cause to get bitter. Perhaps a bit mellower, though. It has a decent amount of nuance but comes off composed so it feels simple.

I really like this tea. At the first few cups of it, I knew I liked the Hunan Gold tea, but it has definitely grown on me since. Definitely recommend it for an all around respectable tea with good flavor. I know I'll be getting more of it soon.

I am a self-proclaimed tea newbie and I am fortunate to have received the Hunan Gold as one of my first tasters. This tea has a nice thickness to it that makes it feel substantial and smooth. This is a delicious green tea that you shouldn't hesitate to try.

A light, mellow tea -- not overly grassy or floral, but very pleasant with some depth. Good with honey and very pretty tea, both the leaves and the brew.

★★★★★

A great light green tea. Tastes great both hot and iced.

★★★★★

Very light and aromatic. I have been mixing it with green tea for added complexity.

★★★★★

I love using this for cold brewed green tea. Only needs to be brewed overnight.

★★★★☆

Bought this tea because it was advertised as similar to Teavanas Golden Dragon. It's close but not quite as good as the Tevana version

★★★★★

My husband and I drank Teavana's Golden Dragon years ago and loved it so much, but were devastated to find it discontinued. I searched around the internet, willing to drop some mad cash on ebay, when I found a similar tea on Adagio! I ordered it, and OH MY GOD it's perfect. Thank you all so much for putting this together, it warms me right up!

This was recommended by one of tea experts at the shop. A nice light tea. Very flavorful.

Loved the color. It does give you a golden liquor. There are subtle hints of fruit with this tea that I love.

Pleasantly surprised at how sweet, almost fruity, it is. Reminds me of Hsinchu Oriental Beauty.

I was a big fan of Teavana's Golden Dragon Tea and had been looking for a suitable substitute ever since Starbucks shut them down. I finally stumbled on Hunan Gold do to an Adagio Facebook post that linked to an Adagio/Teavana tea online matcher. I was pleasantly surprised. While not quite as malty as Golden Dragon, Hunan Gold is very similar and by far the best match that I have found.
