This tea is very unique and I really enjoy the roasted nutty flavor.
Green tea from Japan that is rendered brown by roasting Bancha (a summer crop tea, harvested after Sencha) tea leaves. An Adagio customer favorite, with a toasty nutty flavor and slightly mesquite note. Earthy and warm quality, soothing finish.

This tea is very unique and I really enjoy the roasted nutty flavor.
Love the hojicha tea. it is not overpowering. it has a mild earthy nutty smell and taste. Nice green tea
I like Hojicha and this is a nice one. Slightly roasty and nutty.
I am a new fan of hojicha after dinner. It is full bodied enough to replace the caffeinated black tea that was interfering with my sleep. The hojicha tastes really good but has no negative effect on my nights sleep.
This is an excellent green tea. It has a hint of nuts to the taste.
Almost resembles a black tea. Nutty and mesquite flavor as the description states is right on. Brewed 1 heaping teaspoon in 2 cups of water for 15minutes and it was strong and bold like the women I like!
Great green tea flavor, but with a black tea feel. Great!
You will definitely not mistake hojicha for another tea. It is quite earthy and unlike other green teas. Personally, it had a taste that reminded me too much of pu erh which I do not like.
This is unlike any other green tea I've had, it's nutty and earthy. I'm not usually a fan of green teas, but I love this one.
I found this tea rather bland. It's ok, but not my go-to flavor.
it is light. yet its unique flavor makes it memorable. It definitely warrants a re-order on a cold autumn or wintry night.
Purchased this for a friend who loves green tea. He absolutely loved it!
This was toastier than I would have liked my green tea to be, but if you like that in a tea then this is for you.
I have tried many green teas in my time but this has to be my favorite so far.
a bit on the bitter side for me, but not bad, and I like it iced
Wasn't sure about this tea when I caught my first whiff of its aroma but the taste won me over and now it's replaced my morning coffee. Very smooth, roasted and full bodied.
I like this tea when I feel like something rich and toasty. I enjoy the taste and aroma when the weather is colder.
I received this as a sample. It's a very neutral green tea. The flavor comes across as rather soft to me, though there's definitely a few nutty notes to it, so it's definitely a good introduction to green teas for those more familiar with black teas.
I first tried this tea in a blend and I wanted to try it on its own. I'm super glad I did! It's got such a great nutty, warm flavor to it and is unlike any green teas I've tried. It tastes much more like a black tea than a green. So great!
Very earthy taste. Not too strong, but not flavorless. I enjoyed this on its own. Definitely will buy again!
Smoky and earthy, it reminds me of the tea in sushi restaurants.
Wonderful green tea. I didn't find this to be smoky. Toasted and nutty flavor.
Nutty flavor and an overall unique taste. Not your typical green tea. If you like nutty or smoky (although I didn't pick up those notes) or other earthy teas but aren't a fan a green teas in general, do try this - it will surprise you! I first purchased a sample and can't wait to get a larger size!
I got this tea mainly because it reminds me of a Korean tea my grandfather use to make called Boricha it is so delicious simple subtle barley flavor.
Wonderful roasted green tea, very relaxing and smooth.
This is a slightly bold tea with nutty flavors. I prefer it in a mixture with Ali Shan. They compliment each other well I think.
Surprisingly good! It looks and tastes like a mix of green and black teas.
I enjoyed this a lot - it definitely smells roasted, and almost has a hint of smoke. I am not a huge fan of smokey tasting teas, but this was just enough. It was bready and delicious, and makes me want to try out others of its type.
Too smoky tasting for my individual preferences. Worth a try though!
I really enjoyed this tea. It's nice when you want the flavor of green tea with a break from the grassy taste in most greens.
I really like all my tea strong and this one is perfect. Great for people who like event their afternoon tea strong.
VERY earthy. It is another Adagio favorite of mine.
Smooth tea with a unique aroma.Taste is mildly nutty with a smokey aftertaste . Good anytime tea.
This tastes different from any green tea I've ever had. It really is mainly toasty and nutty, not grassy at all. The smell of the brewed tea reminds me of roasted sunflower seeds, and the taste is like cooked squash with a faint smokiness or woodsiness... I can't really tell. But I do like this tea a lot!
This tea is awesome, very hojichaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
This tea was not what I expected of a green tea, but I am glad to have sampled it. It has a strong aroma that for a moment reminded me of my coffee drinking days. The taste is woody, a little sweet, and satisfying. I will be buying it again.
Not my favorite green tea in the world, but it does have a distinct woody flavor with a hint of sweetness. It does grow on you after a while.
My husband LOVES this tea. He does not get any other green tea but this one. He is addicted and nothing is a good substitute for him.
This can get a bit strong, but it makes me feel really earthy to drink this. I do like it, but it's really strong, still trying to find the right temp and steeping process. Still, it's darn good.
I tried this for the first time in a Japanese tearoom. Adagio's brand compares very well. I am not a big green tea fan but this was not like anyother green tea I have tried. This is now one of my favorite teas.
Discovered this is also delicious iced!
I was expecting this tea to have a smoky flavor, but it tasted burnt.
Just like the hojicha you find in Japan that I haven't been able to find anywhere else since!
I originally tried this in the Samurai sampler not expecting much. I was expecting to enjoy the greener teas the most. It turned out that I liked the Hojicha the most out of the entire sampler.
A very exotic tea for exotic tastes. My brother swears by this tea!
I think this my new favorite tea. The description is accurate, 'a toasty nutty flavor and slightly mesquite note.' I usually need sugar in my tea to enjoy it, but I actually enjoyed this one without sugar, but still prefer it with sugar. I'll be drinking this in the morning instead of coffee.
This toasty green tea is perfect for those who think they don't like green tea.
An instant favorite for me. The roasted dark flavor makes it a great tea for mornings, and while tea often upsets my stomach first thing in the morning, this one doesn't seem to.
Reminds me of living in Japan. Has a roasted, almost burnt taste, which could be off-putting to some people.
I like this one a lot, though maybe not as much as the genmai cha. This makes a good after-dinner tea.
A nice smooth green tea! It does have a slight scent of being burnt, but not where it is overwhelming or distracts from the taste of the tea.
