I'm new to special green tea, but this was really nice to my untrained palate.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hojicha. Smoky, nutty and smooth. Great deal for the price!
I think i got this just to pronounce it's name when i drank it. It's Japanese, so it appealed to the weeabu inside of me. One of my freinds said kelp and ass, but i say dirty and pungent. My young adult taste buds trying new things into adulthood say heck yes, i love nasty things like cigarettes and black coffee and aged cheese and high IBU pale ales. I may sound like i'm talking smack, but i really love this tea, it's my young self that would hate this.
A pretty decent brew. I love the toasty flavor, but you have to be careful because it can get bitter if you don't watch it.
Love the nuttiness from the hojicha! It's intense, rich, earthy. Delightful surprise, this one.
Definitely a roasted grassy flavor. Not my favorite style.
Some really good hojicha, although I'll admit my experience with toasted green teas is not quite as varied as blacks.
Nice toasty flavor with a nutty aroma. Drinking it in the evening, but it has a bold enough flavor to be a morning tea.
I got this as a sample. I'm trying to broaden my tea horizons and I used all of the sample to give it a fair shot, but it's a no for me. I think it's the wet hay smell more than anything that keeps me from really enjoying it.
Amber and crystal clear. Aromas of hay with a hint of charcoal. Tastes of straw and dried mushrooms with a sweet finish.
This was a decent brew. I would have liked the roasted flavor to be a bit more pronounced, but overall, good.

I think this best tea for me. I have tried several green teas. It was a bit to much grassy.This tea is a keeper. Will continue to purchase and not to be concern about the others. I maybe missing out, but I am good.
This reminds me faintly of genmai cha. A little too toasty for me, but very drinkable.

So light and yet flavorful. Not bitter like a lot of green teas, but almost nutty kind of like a white tea. Doesn't need to be sweetened, which is great because I have a sweet tooth I need to stop feeding .). Very enjoyable

Has a really 'unique' taste. Quite strong. I'm not sure if I really enjoy it. A friend of mine enjoys mixing it with other teas.

I got this as a free sample. It's pretty good, but it doesn't have the toasty flavor that I thought it might based on the description. It actually seems to have more of a citrusy/floral sort of thing going.
It does not at all remind me of genmai cha.
I don't remember how I ended up buying this one but I was glad I did. Interesting texture and distinct unique flavor.
This hojicha was very good by my standards. Nice roasted and earthy flavor to my tea.
The taste itself is mild and not so bad once you add sugar, however I could not get past the horrible smell. Have only used this tea once because of the smell.
This is a rather unusual green tea, but I like it a lot. It's nutty and really not your standard green tea at all. Definitely reminds me of oolong, though not quite as earthy. It doesn't have as much of the vegetal taste, either. Really good with some honey, though only a little bit.

Nutty and flavorful tea that does not appear green when brewed. Has the characteristics of a black tea only milder.

This tea is very bold and earthy. I wouldn't recommend it if you're new to tea. If you want a good Japanese tea, this is the one to go with.
One of my favorite green teas. This one has a deeper, earthier taste than most, which is a great palate cleanser after lunch.

This tea is alright, I mean when I first took a sip I thought it tasted very similar to coffee. But as I kept drinking the tea I thought that it tasted more like that Dig 'Em Sugar Smacks cereal. Which it really does. Just with a lot less sugar. I probably won't order this tea again, but it was pretty good for the $2 sampler just to try something different.

I can't decide if I like hojicha or kukicha more... Hojicha is a bit nuttier but not as buttery as kukicha.
My favorite Green Tea. Earthy, but not too far from the good ol' green tea taste. no trace of the 'fishy' smell that some green teas unfortunately have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I noticed a roasted flavor, as expected, but nothing else about this tea blew me away.
Very roasty and nutty flavor and smell. The tea isn't bad, but it doesn't seem to be a great quality tea.

I tried the kukicha recently because I wanted to add some Japanese tea to my repertoire. I didn't like the grass, let me say I love this tea, it keeps that distinct Japanese character and they've cooked that grass right outta it :-)
This isn't a bad tea. It's just not something I favor. I don't really get a mesquite note, but more of a sweet nutty almost nori seaweed flavor.
My very favorite!!! I usually stick to Japanese brands of tea, but they are not always readily available. Out of any of the other American brands, this is by far the most authentic and yummiest!!! I really love Adagio teas!!!
This is by far my favorite tea! It has a beautiful woodsy flavor to it. I could drink this tea all day everyday!
A nutty-tasting green tea, not vegetal or bitter. I can't get enough of it!
I love this tea. I like normal green teas a lot, but this goes beyond your normal green with hints of nuttiness and a savory, clean finish.
