This is a super nice, smooth, vibrant green tea. For me personally, it's not worth the higher price, but it really is a lovely tea. Black Jasmine Song feels more special to me relative to the price.
Steamed green tea from Japan. Gyokuro is among the finest of Japanese teas. Deeply sweet, aroma of freshly buttered greens - no grassiness or harshness. Soft on the palate with a balanced, delicate finish. Soothing and centering cup of tea.

Pleasant green tea to drink thru out the day. Nice color and since we love green tea found this enjoyable.
My favorite green tea. Sometimes to 'mix it up' a little, I add a little bit of a slightly flavored green tea like citrus green.
My go-to green tea. Almost every morning. No more than 2 minutes, otherwise it gets too strong for me. If brewed for 2 minutes it’s a delicious, classic green tea flavor.
I lived in Japan for over 2 yrs. Green tea is served the way water is offered in the US. I find this Gyokuro to be authentic and true to a Japanese Gyokuro. The flavor is grassy, slightly veggie like and stands up to 2-3 infusions. If you like true green tea this is a must try
I liked the sample better than the full sized bag. Somehow this is stronger and bitter whereas the sample size of the same tea was very mild and pleasant.
One of my favorite teas in the mornings. Great smell and taste, definitely a milder green tea. Low temperature is better.
It’s a very robust green tea
Rich flavor, it’s worth the price
It's what it sounds like, nothing different from description
The most perfect green tea. I’m done looking. I never believed in the “calming” effects of tea until I tried this, which you can thank the higher levels of L-theanine for. Great to drink before a presentation.
This is a tea I save for special occasions. It has a full-bodied taste with a hint of grassiness and a nice citrus finish. Pairs great with raw honey.
This is a wonderful green tea. Earthy notes through the nose. Buttery tastes on the tongue. I ordered this by mistake and am enjoying my wonderful error. This defines green tea for me.
This is a pretty good green tea. It is mildly grassy, definitely hits more savory notes. It is a nice delicate tea though. Has a slightly buttery texture with just the slightest astringent finish that almost seems to cleanse the palate. Probably not a purchase for me, but only because there are other teas from Adagio that really hit these bites better for me. Still very glad got to try this one and it would probably be a 4.5 if they had half stars. 165° 3 min
On par with other greens, this tea was just okay to me. In addition to the usual light earthy taste, this tea also had a cereal flavor to me.
Exactly what green tea should taste like, light, vegetal, and smooth, I really like this one
a lovely light green, with the softest green flavors... a special brew, with low temps & long lingering notes.
A truly delicious green tea! After reading some reviews, I came prepared to do a short steep at a low temperature. I'm glad I used my biggest steeper! The contents of the CommuniTEA packet looked small, but they've unfurled into a large quantity of VERY green tea leaves. The scent is very green, too, vegetal like spinach. An updated review after acquiring a temperature control kettle: This is one that really benefits from cooler water. I steeped at 160 for about two minutes at a time and got multiple infusions of delicious, rich green tea out of my single-portion sized pouch. It's delicious, but water that's too hot will scorch and ruin it! Steep with care.
Aug 2025: there's a category of green teas I think of as mildly savory, like a broth, and this one is in it. Not grassy, but not floral in the least.
Loving this - nothing like a green tea for soothing and energizing at the same time. Buttery aroma mild vegetal taste agree do not sweeten it would be weird
CommuniTEA sample: 2 min @ 150 F. Second infusion for 2.5 min @ 150 F and following infusions for 3 min. This is one of my favorite green teas. It’s got some subtle, edamame notes but otherwise I think the descriptor of buttered greens fits very well. It is more on the vegetal side, but very fresh, a little earthy, reminds me a lot of a morning dew flavor. It’s mildly sweet and bitter, and not really grassy, but still very green.
I'm not of big fan of green tea, I do like flavor green tea. This tea I adore and I'm a big fan. Updates: 8-20-25 / As the years go by…I have a deep love of some good quality green teas, flavored or non flavored.
Never tried it before until now, but it’s delicious and has a smoother energy boost than coffee. Love the taste too.
Seemed a tiny bit lower quality and/or older than I was hoping for. Despite this it still tastes mostly ok.
The description says there is less or no grassy taste as some green teas have. I had a very grassy taste, almost worse than I usually have with green tea
This had a more premium, subtle, vegetal taste. It was good, but I can't say the price tag is worth it over something like Sencha Overture.
If you are careful in how you brew, this makes a delicious cup of not-too-grassy tea. Water that's too hot or leaving it to steep too long can make it bitter and rough, however. The sweetness comes out with subsequent steepings.
This is an absolutely delicious tea and probably my favorite that I’ve tried through Adagio so far. This Gyokuro has a rich, fresh flavor similar to steamed edamame. I wouldn’t call it grassy, although the smell is rich and green. I wouldn’t call absolutely recommend this as an amazing green tea.
This is my special occasion tea. Totally worth the splurge! Tastes very fresh and very green, which is what I love, and I can re-steep several times.
I LOVE this tea’s savory earthy taste and wish the larger size came in loose leaf & not the bags. It is my favorite of the green teas & I don’t get to enjoy it as much due to the cost per size ratio, but it is one of my favorites.
Stronger flavor with a little more of a bitter, astringent taste than the usual green tea.
I'm trying to drink more green tea for the health benefits. Tried this based on previous reviews, but it's not my favorite green tea. I am more of a fan of the floral notes in the jasmine
The king/queen of teas. Worth every penny. A hard-to-describe green tea, quite unique flavor. Endulge!
Delicious, grassy tea - no earthly flavors. Re-brews nicely. No bitter after taste. Highly recommend!
My favorite green tea so far. Wonderful flavor for several steeps. I highly recommend this tea. Excellent health benefits too boot.
This is one of my favorite green teas I’ve had ! it’s very savory, just the right amount bitter and smells wonderful :>
Very good green tea but not the best I’ve had. I like to mix it into other tea blends.
It's good, but not good enough to justify the price. Won't buy again.
For a plain green tea, this is the cream of the crop. Sweet and not overpoweringly grassy, it feels like sitting in a field of freshly cut grass.
That said, pure green tea still isn't my favorite. This is certainly one of my first choices of I ever do seek it out, though.
Very green, in color and taste both. I always love a tea where you can get multiple cups out of a single set of leaves.
I'm a fan of green tea. I actually prefer Japanese green tea iced over hot. This is a very savory tea. 2 min @ 165. Very vegetal with mild astringency. I could resteep this a couple more times.
A surprisingly strong green tea. It's not the least bit 'grassy.'
I love green tea. This one has nice bright green color. Smooth buttery taste. It grassy. A mild finish. . As my usual preference I chose honey to sweeten but lovely without sweetener.
One of my favorite green teas I've tried, I'm definitely going to get this next time I'm looking for just a regular green tea.
This is a good tea, but I think I would have to be in the mood for it. It might be a wonderful pairing for sushi or steamed spinach, but has a very vegetal flavor which might just be a touch to strong for me on its own. I was able to finish it, but it won't be joining my favorites. If you are a very vegetal green tea lover u will love this tea. Just be careful not to overstep or use to high of a temp of water
This is a delicious light green tea. It's a little vegetal, but not grassy. I brewed this at 160F for about a minute and was able to get multiple steeps.
I had two cups of today’s tea and it had a much smoother taste than many other green teas. The description of buttered greens was more of the initial aroma. Definitely no grassy taste at all. I enjoyed trying this tea. I brewed it at 165° both times as recommended.
Generally, I am not a fan of Japanese green teas, much prefering their Taiwanese or Chinese counterparts. However, this one, steep at 140 degrees, gongfu style was delicious and good for three rounds of tea.
I love green teas. I especially loved this one. It's got the green tea, grassy taste but in a more subtle way than a lot of other green teas. I added Adagio's honey for green tea as a sweetener and that helped to bring out the green tea notes.
Too vegetal, too grassy , just don;t care much for most green teas
In a white tea cup
I am a golden sage hue
A smooth Gyokuro
I love the hue of this tea steeping in a white cup. No bitter taste, pleasant green flavor reminiscent of steamed fresh greens vegetables unseasoned broth. I love aroma.
My taste buds determined this is a smooth, light green tea; almost delicate in flavor. I did not find it to be grassy at all. This is how a good green tea should taste; leaving a clean palate.
