This is a great green tea on it's own - but you can add anything you want to it! I personally love sprinkling in some rose petals and adding a bit of honey :)
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

Gunpowder green is a staple for me, and this one is nice and strong. It's got a great strong scent and a nice deep grassy flavor. It's great with a little honey, mixed with some spices or toasted rice, or just on its own.
It was pretty good. Tasted nice, had a slightly dry mouth-feel but otherwise fine. (Cold brewed for 10 hours)
My go-to basic tea. My fundamental favorite. I love gunpowder tea and this one is really good.
This is an interesting green tea with the rolled leaves and flavor. Add some delicious raw honey and perfect!!
Potent and powerful, this tea has a delightful kick! It's also fun to watch the leaves unfurl.
I typically do not do green teas solo because it ends up tasting like grass. Not this one! It is very nice on its own. I plan to add some extra stuff to the second steep just for fun. It was neat watching the little balls unfurl in the ingenuiTea.
A good, high quality gunpowder. Balls are rolled tight, and the scent of this tea might be one of my favorite smells in the world
Very typical green tea on its own. Good quality and smooth, but would benefit from mint or other complimentary flavors.
Pleasant, just not my absolute favorite. That's all I really have to say about it.
Love this. I’m new to tea and this reminds me of regular green tea but better.
A great standard green tea. I will be ordering this one again.
I like my tea strong, so I like to mix this with mint to get a bit more out of both.
This tea was very smoky and rich! I only wish i had some mint or something fragrant and sharp because it appears to be missing something...
I loved it, my wife found it OK, but not great. Enjoyed as a comfort tea.
A delicious and smoky green tea, perfect for someone new to this area of tea.
This is one of my favorite teas. Lots of flavor and multiple brews.
My morning go to tea. Light with hint of smokiness. A Perfect start to day .
It is just okay, it’s light, not strong, good for comfort
I tried brewing this tea at many combinations of temperatures and times from 30sec-5min. but I can never get a subtle green daily drinking tea I was looking for. This tea is the strongest green tea I have ever had. Not in a bitter way, but just very potent. Adjusting the amount of leaves did not change this characteristic of it. In all fairness, I was accustomed to green tea in bags from a wide variety of vendors and price points. This was by far the strongest and in an unpleasant way. I'm sure some people may enjoy this taste but I did not. Personally it felt as if I was smacked in the face with GREEN TEA flavors. It tasted completely natural, just overwhelming. It was not the relaxing cup of tea I was expecting. I recommend you try a sample first, especially if you are used to drinking green tea from teabags of any type.
This is my daughter’s favourite tea. We like to blend it with a bit of mint or apple chai spice, add sweetener and frothed milk for a enjoyable afternoon latte!
Astringent and strong, like a classic gunpowder green. More of an occasional tea for me, but when paired with honey it offsets the astringency enough to make for a pleasant, warm, and nuanced green tea.
A very solid green with low bitterness and almost no detectible astringency, even on a second steep (done at 180 F for 3 min).
A smooth green tea that's a little smoky, but not grassy. Gunpowder tea is also good mixed with peppermint and spearmint.
Wonderful green tea flavor and just a little bitter.
I like this tea in the afternoon. I only steep for 1:30.
the tea was delicious, just what I needed in the morning.
Delicious green tea for afternoons and long nights when black tea is just a little too much.
*Update- It's been several years since my first review of this wonderful green. I know a bit more about tea now and turns out I used to oversteep it and still loved it. I still like to leave it a little longer but have since realized I can turn that time into several much more delicious, less bitter, steeps. Now I love it even more than I used to. This is one of those teas that always needs to be in my stash.
*Original- This is one of the best teas I have ever had ever! I've never had a green tea that I could describe as... smooth, this is silky buttery smooth and delicious! It helps me feel wonderful at the end of a long day.
Not a huge fan of how earthy this one is. Not as smooth as I'd like either.
Nice quality, absolutely no unwanted plant material or dirt or anything... but I still prefer the Sleepy Dragon, just personal preference...
This tea is a lovely smoky flavored green tea, and the Smokey flavor is not too strong.
A favorite for generations in my family. I consider this the basic green tea from which I measure all others.
Sometimes I just want to have some quiet time and relax. I will use 1/2 teaspoon in an 8oz cup. I don't really know the temp or time. I just watch for the 'right' color.
I've ordered it several times and will keep ordering. It's also my son's favorite.
Tasted really good, but way too much caffeine for my sensitive brain. Gifted it to a friend who could handle the blast!
A complex, rich green tea with a hint of smoke flavor. The way the leaves unfurl always makes this a visually appealing tea to brew! @adagioteas
Always a good afternoon pick-me-up! The smoky flavor helps give me a kick when I’m dragging at work.
Exactly what I remember from when I used to buy loose leaf teas from Ten Ren in Chinatown! I kind of forgot about this tea but it’s got a great roasted flavor that goes down well after a full meal. Good for multiple steepings.
Gunpowder tea was my gateway to my love of green tea. I was excited to try Adagio's version and it did not disappoint. Smooth, lovely. Subtle grassiness and just very enjoyable. Even on the 3rd steep. I will be happy to order more of this.
I bought this specifically to mix up a batch of Moroccan mint tea, and it has been perfect! Mixed with spearmint (also from Adagio, of course), it held up well to boiling water before I got a temperature-controlled kettle, which is wonderful, since green teas are often a bit delicate. The mixed tea is minty and refreshing, and the gunpowder lends it body and smokiness - that blend is my go-to tea for after a big meal! I'm always happy to see it in a ComuniTEA fandom blend, and need to order more so I can enjoy it on its own!
I moved from black tea to green tea to save my tea stains and this was a great place to start. Delightful green tea full flavor and a little smokey. Would recommend.
a nice classic green tea flavor! very smooth and watching the leaves unfurl in my french press is a reach treat @adagioteas

The more atypical go to tea with interesting flavor tones.
I love this tea, I mix it with spearmint and vanilla green and it’s delicious
My spouse's favorite green tea. They will drink this any time of day. We bought the big bag to last us.
Smooth, smoky, and delicious! A perfect green tea blend! Makes a great breakfast blend to wake up with!
Gunpowder is such a consistently great green tea. Everyone in my family loves it. It s the no-frills, dependable tea you can offer a guest. Just wonderful. Love it! @adagioteas
I typically drink dessert teas but am looking to expand my flavor choices. My review is with that in context. Im going to try the second cup with lemongrass i got with this same order.
