Very good tea, very strong. Smoky flavor, can be used instead of coffee :)
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

Very good tea, very strong. Smoky flavor, can be used instead of coffee :)
Could just be my tongue but I did not like this one at all. Too bitter for me.
I tend to be really particular about gunpowder green tea. This is one of those teas that it's very important that you follow the directions and not oversteep it. Otherwise, the flavor is nice but not as strong as it should be. The scent leaves a little to be desired as well. This tea should have a strong scent despite being delicate, and it doesn't. Definitely a good attempt at gunpowder, but not my favorite version.
A good, everyday green tea
Has a slightly smokey flavor to it, but be careful not to oversteep or steep in too hot of water or it gets very bitter and undrinkable.
A clean-tasting green tea. It even smells 'fresh' and 'green.' Definitely one of my favorite green teas. I like it with just a touch of honey or straight up. It's good iced, too!
I love the look of this tea. Watching it unfurl is beautiful. But, I'm not a big fan of the taste.
This tea is OK but I probably won't buy again. The 'chestnut' flavor that develops with brewing just isn't to my liking. It reminds me of coffee, which I don't like at all.
My favorite green from Adagio thus far. Excellent smokey flavor.
Delicious! I am a big fan of Gunpowder - it is my favorite variety of green tea. This didn't disappoint.
very good tea for every day drinking, nice smokiness.
Apparently green tea isn't my thing. I thought it was too earthy and green. I can't say the tea is bad it's just not my, uhm, cup of tea.
This is a very smokey green tea that perfectly fits my taste. It is, however, a bit different from your average green tea and therefore it would be wise to sample some first. It's excellent if you like your tea smokey and a little bitter.
This is a full bodied, smokey tea, be careful not to over steep.
Gunpowder is definitely an acquired taste that one shouldn't go into unprepared. As someone who had to scour far and wide to find greens that appeal to me, gunpowder was a great find. While not an everyday drink for me, I like drinking this tea on rainy days when I want to get myself in the right mood to write. Bitter and smoky even when brewed exactly to temperature, this is not a tea you add cream or sugar to, but just drink as it is and enjoy the unique scent.
I love the Bold taste. Great everyday tea. Sure to please.
I like this tea because it great on its own (lightly smoky) and even better for creating your own blends (great base flavor).
This is a great all around tea. Perfect for everyday.
This is one of our favorite teas, and it is excellent being able to get it in bags we can take to work! Full tea pieces, not shredded bits like grocery store tea bags. The genuine green tea flavor is delicious-- iconic green tea!
Purchased as a gift for my tea newbie husband, I'm sure he will love it!
I bought a large bag of gunpowder in January '11 and it was great. Some of the best tea I've ever had, in fact. I just bought another bag (Dec. '11) and every cup tastes like I've steeped a handful of dust bunnies in water. Furthermore, everything else I've purchased here recently has been similarly of low quality. Adagio needs to get their QA act together.
Great tea, its a kick in the glass! You should totally buy this.
This gunpowder was of good quality and strength. Multiple steepings yield lovely results.
Good gunpowder tea. I like it's smokey flavor but I'm a Japanese tea lover so this is something not really for me.
This was a bit too smokey by itself for my taste.
It has a great taste. It is a lighter version of a gunpowder tea. Others that I have had are quite a bit stronger, which I like, but this one bring a slightly different smokiness to the table. I liked it enough that I bought more.
Great taste and flavor. Great tea anytime during the day.
Best value in tea period! Great green tea taste with slight smokiness. Tightly rolled leaves unfurl nicely and helps keep flavor in. Actually good for multiple steeps. Love it!
A great green tea with hints of grassy and smoky notes. Try it with local honey!
How do they get the leaves rolled up so tight?!
Gunpowder is my first foray into Chinese green tea and it did not disappoint. This tea has a very dark and smokey flavor, and is best drunk unadulterated. I can get at least three good steeps out of it before it starts to lose flavor. Overall, highly recommended.
I liked this tea, and considering the price, the value is unbeatable.
this is great to mix with other teas/herbals or to have by itself. I like to mix mine with peppermint and spearmint
When I first purchased this tea four years ago it was excellent. Dark, small, tightly rolled and filled with rich, smokey flavor. The more recent batches are much less satisfying. Not as dark, larger, loosely rolled and lacking the smokey flavor that should be present in gunpowder. It's unfortunate this tea has become so weak.
I love this green tea and it is a great price. Not a grassy green tea.
A very good gunpowder green, flavor maintains through 2 steeps (gets a little weaker on the 3rd). Beats mainstream brands sold in grocery stores and natural markets.
The combination of smokiness and grassiness really didn't do it for me. A few hours later I still haven't gotten the taste entirely out of my mouth.
This is a staple around our house. Good body and full smoky flavor
This is my go-to tea when I want a little lift mid-day. All five senses benefit! Its beautiful to look at and the little pellets of wrapped leaves are delicate to hold. The aroma is not to be missed. Watch the little pellets of tea unfurl then enjoy the unique flavor. As for the fifth sense? Listen to how content you are after you experience this tea.
I can never get enough. Lately I've been drinking more subtle teas, like Silver Needle and White Monkey, but when I really want a classic green tea with a bit more flavor, I reach for Gunpowder.
It also makes an outstanding iced tea. I like mine with a little bit of honey.
Nothing special. My complaint is it lacked the smokey taste. I've had better gunpower teas in the past, but it's good value for the price.
my favorite green tea. Good green flavor without being too grassy.
I was a little disappointed, I expected it to be smokey-er, and it was a little bitter. I probably wont buy this again.
A very nice everyday green tea. A very full brothy cup with just a hint of smokiness. I have brewed this too strong, too hot, and too long and it quickly becomes very astringent and overpowering - follow directions and makes a very drinkable, pleasant green tea. While I always have several other 'top shelf' green teas for special occasions, this is my go to green tea for every day drinking.
I am more of a black tea drinker, but I am trying to expand my tastes a bit. This is the first green tea that I have really liked the first time I tasted it. I tried the green tea sampler in the past, but the fishy taste of most of them just weren't my thing. At the price, this is a great green tea and I have already ordered more and plan on drinking this during lunch and once in a while during the evening as opposed to black tea.
I'm still working on my brewing of this tea, but I like the rich sediments it tends to leave, giving this tea a thicker mouthfeel, and the grassyness is nice so long as I don't over-brew it to cooked greens quality.
I could not get myself to drink this one at all. I tried different strengths, brew times, temps, but the smokey flavor taste of this tea just didn't appeal to me at all. For some reason I found myself wanting to like this tea, maybe just for its name.
I like my green teas a little stronger so brewing this one at 3 minute was perfect. The tea seemed naturally stronger then most greens that I’ve tried and seems to take well to multiple brewing. Great for in the morning when I want something loaded with flavor to just start my taste buds.
wonderful smokey hints reminiscent of a campfire. great morning tea
One of my all-time favorites, in terms of green teas. Smokey, Earthy, and all kinds of tasty.
nice and smokey, compares favorably to other gunpowders in the price range
