My first time with a green tea. Has what must be that 'vegetal' taste. Decent, but may be an acquired taste.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

My first time with a green tea. Has what must be that 'vegetal' taste. Decent, but may be an acquired taste.
This tea has a nice, smooth taste. I've taken to throwing a few leaves into stronger teas to balance out the flavors.
I have yet to try this tea by it's self and have opted to blend it with some other loose leaf tea I have. However, the aroma of this tea is fabulous, and tastes wonderful in blends.
This is one of my favorite value teas from Adagio. Full-flavored green with smokey hints (not enough to be invasive), and one teaspoon of leaves lasts through so many steeps that a 4 oz bag lasts me months.
Gunpowder tea was a favorite among my friends. Definitely do multiple infusions with this one. Be careful with your first steeping. I found that 2.5 minutes was too strong for the first infusion.
I have had much better gunpowder tea. Usually I love the burnt/roasted flavor of the tea, but his one has a burnt olive flavor. It's drinkable, but I would not get it again.
This is just such a great and typical go-to green. Mild in flavor but does not dissapoint. It's best to always keep some handy especially since its the least expensive green.
It is too strong for me with a bitter taste to it. Others who like this tea are out there for sure, but it is not for me.
I've never been a fan of green tea before -- I drank mostly strictly black tea. Mostly I find green and white teas too light and too grassy and they don't satisfy me, but Adagio's gunpowder tea was an eye-opener. Both refreshing and smoky, rich and dry. I really enjoy this tea and I will have it with some mint sometime soon for the full experience :)
Eh. I didn't care for this green tea. I like a more vegetable / flower flavor. It resteeped and held its flavor.
I received this as a free sample, and will most likely buy more. This green tea is amazingly flavorful with a lot of power when steeped for 5 minutes. I have a 32oz infuser similar to the one here (not gonna say the brand) and each cup is different. The power I speak of comes with the last cup, but the cups before are a tad milder. I brewed at 190f so if you brew any lower you'll definitely get a milder tea if you prefer that. I on the other hand enjoyed the 'over-smokey' taste Amanda S. mentioned.
Perfect strong cup of green tea, without being over powering.
Delicious tea, I usually steep it a little longer because I like it a bit stronger.
Smokey, but in a different way than lapsang, another favorite of mine. This is the best green tea I've ever had.
I love this tea! Incredible in blends or on its own, it has a very smooth, vegetal flavor followed by a bite of smoke when swallowing. The smell is remarkably mild, though - like fresh-cut grass. Can get very bitter if brewed too long, though, so watch for that.
I wasn't able to taste the 'hint of smokiness' in the description, but otherwise this had a nice strong flavor.
Not my favorite green tea, but still excellent. Good hot or iced.
A classic green tea, one I always try to keep on hand!
A simple green tea, not as floral or grassy as some other bagged greens I've had. It took a couple of cups for the flavor to fall into place for me, but I do enjoy this tea. It still has the oh-so-slight bitterness that's pleasant in green teas, and I look forward to playing with Gunpowder Green in blends.
A little plain by itself and not in a blend, but still good.
I was expecting this to be an 'experience' tea - one that doesn't necessarily become an everyday favorite but is certainly worth trying. I was not wrong. I'd certainly drink this again, but it won't be my go-to for a relaxing cup after work or to pick me up at the beginning of a day. The hint of smoke was exactly that, not overpowering or ashy, allowing the vegetal taste of green tea really to be the star. I found that this is one of the rare teas I enjoy without sweetener as much as with.
This is a wonderful green tea. As someone who originally wasn't a fan of green teas, this is definitely one that helped change my mind. This tea has a clean taste and an intensity strong enough to wake me up in the morning.
At first I thought I over steeped the tea, but with the second cup I was careful. Just a very bitter tea.
A great value green tea. The smokey flavor is pronounced, but not overpowering. Good for multiple steepings. For the price it can't be beat.
Bought this because I have a Moroccan Mint from another company that is all mint and no Moroccan
Standard Go-to tea. Nice flavor. Slightly smokey and not too astringent like other green teas, unless of course you over brew it.
I wouldn't call it bad or awful, but it was not for me. I'm also not typically a green tea drinker. Prefer Sleeping Dragon instead.
Great green tea! I like to serve this one as an iced tea.
One of the better gunpowder greens I've tried. Good for multiple infusions, and goes from smokey on the first brew to fruity on the third - interesting and tasty!
If you are not normally a green tea fan, this is a good one to try. Also, can add a little to other teas to give them a little 'bite'. The latest batch is even better and stronger. So take care on the amount used and follow the brew time ,until you try a few cups! Still the best green tea if you're not a grassy green tea fan..closest to black
Really, really great, especially for the price. Could be a bit smokey for some.
I have a love-hate relationship with gunpowder tea. Sometimes I can't stop drinking it and sometimes I can't stand it.
The rolls of this gunpowder are very small, which is a sign of good quality with gunpowder, and the smoky taste is less pronounced in this kind than others I have had. I'm no expert in tea quality, but I rather like this one. Perhaps not my most drank tea, it is nevertheless very present in my pantry.
For being one of the cheapest teas around, this is very good.
I didn't expect it to be as smoky as it was but wow it left a really heavy aftertaste. Don't over-steep this one, I might have. The second time I tried it, the heavy flavor was more mild, so that might have just been a mistake on my part! Not bad otherwise, though. For me it just tasted like a heavier green tea
Not much of a green tea person. Gave this one a shot because of many good reviews. It is very...temperamental. If the water temperature is too high or timing is off, the resulting cup isn't worth drinking. On the occasions it works out, it makes a pretty good brew (especially with mint).
Not my favorite tea but still really good. I plan to use it as a base for stronger flavored teas in a blend. I like this one with honey and just a little sugar.
This tea is amazing. I don't like some of the buttery flavors of the Japanese greens, and this one is much fresher and crisper. I love the way the leaves unfold to reveal the flavor. It's also great to mix with spearmint and make Moroccan mint. Make sure not to use boiling water or steep for more than two minutes!
Bought this tea for a friend who really enjoys the gunpowder. I tried some and it is a good gunpowder tea a smokey tea that I would enjoy mixing with other green teas.
This tea has an excellent, light smoky flavor and is extremely affordable compared to many other green teas. You can get a solid 3 infusions out of it without really losing any flavor, too.
This is easily my favorite cup of tea. It is what I like to drink in the mornings and with lunch. I first tried this tea because I am a big fan of the shooting sports, target shooting and skeet mostly, so I thought it was a fitting one for me to at least try out. From the moment I opened my first, at that time, tin of this stuff I was hooked. It smells absolutely wonderful. Gunpowder has a wonderful taste that has hints of smoke and fruit in it that I find out of this world. It is even fun to watch unfurl in the pot. It stands up to a rebrew or two as well making it worth the money.
I make a sort of blend that I would post here as my signature blend but the components are not available for me to do so. I use 80% Gunpowder with 20% Jasmine Phoenix Pearls. I put the Gunpowder into the pot first then place the Pearls atop it and I call this my 'Shotgun Blend'. As I think about it, it wouldn't work as a signature blend as you must load the teas properly for it to look correct. Of course the look has no effect on the taste or aroma so perhaps I will email them to see if there is a way...
I have a few friends who just love this tea, and now I can see why! It's got a nice smokey but clean leafy flavor to it. Plus you don't need that much to steep, so it's nice at the price you're buying. Just don't over steep it or else you might just get a bitter cup of tea. (Might also want to check the water temp to ensure that doesn't happen either.)
The gunpowder is okay on its own - but when mixed with the Spearmint tea that I have (making a Moroccan Mint blend), it tastes amazing.
Smokiness and savoriness are A-plus. I blend this with fruity herbal teas to give them more of a punch.
I love this green tea. Has kind of a smokey flavor to it.
My first real green, and a good one to start with. Has a sharp little bite at the end if brewed too long, but very...green. That sounds silly, but if you ever have had 'green tea' flavored things, this is pretty much that with a bit of a spine and a word or two for you. It's quite nice, and a good base for things like a green tea latte if brewed strong enough.
I have to admit that my love for it may be due to Cara McGee's use of it in her Lestrade blend. (Which you should buy if you like this.) I bought it to make some Moroccan Mint, but I think it's pretty great on it's own. It's very earthy, grassy.
This tea is powerfully herbal tasting and in my opinion resembles gunpowder in no way except by taste. I find it rather bland on its own but blended with the right teas it would probably have a lot to offer.
I really love this green tea! It is very light, but full-bodied. It has an awesome mouth feel.
This stuff is great! Cheap and very strong! I tried gunpowder that a friend had first, and had to give Adagio's a try. Even just the smell will wake you up.
Now this is something I have got to say I love. There is a very nice nutty taste to it that is pleasant and there is not a strong astringency.
