It's a very flavorful, natural tasting tea. It's not grassy, which I like with a green tea as opposed to japenese greens. It definitely does not need to be sweetened, and has been a daily tea for me since I first sampled it.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

When I was almost exclusively drinking green teas, this was one of my favorites. Affordable staple to always have on-hand. Now that I'm converting to white teas, this seems to have some bitterness to it.
This was my first experience with green tea. I found the first cup too delicate for my taste, but the second cup made with the same leaves was lovely and smooth.
This is a very deep and rich green tea that I absolutely adore. The flavor is all there, and you definitely get even more flavor if you steep it in an infuser that allows it to unfurl during.
This is a nice, pleasant green tea, will buy again
Surprisingly good! The flavor is strong and slightly smokey, as the description said. But I didn t expect a depth of flavor. I may try a second infusion next time. I think this tea could take it.
I'm absolutely impressed!
I brewed Gong Fu style, 6g of tea and 200ml 175*F water for 16 seconds!! And Woah! amazing! Beautiful rich, but smooth green tea. No bitterness, no grassy taste, just pure delicious. I'm now on my 5th re-brewing of the day (adding a few more seconds each time) and the taste and aroma are still as the first one! I think this is a great gateway Green Tea! :-)
Not a huge green tea fan but this was pretty good.
We tried both this and Sleeping Dragon for mixing with our black tea. This one was a bit too green-tasting in comparison. But we aren't green tea fans.
Nice flavorful green tea! Nice rich flavor. Good for multiple cups.
This tea is warm and smoky and wonderful to just sip on in the morning.
Gunpowder is a very strong green tea. Lots of zip and zing. I don't drink it by itself, but add a half teaspoon to a teaspoon to a pot of black tea to amp up the flavor and the 'hit' . Highly recommend.
As far as green tea goes, I look at this as the option I go to when I am not looking for a Hallmark moment. You can certainly find better rated tea at a higher price, but I like to think this is the tea that the guy in Zhejiang province fills in his to go mug every time he leaves for his factory job.
Didn't know what people meant by 'smoky' until I tried it. Veeeeery smoky... In a good way!
Great green tea, with the right amount of earthy green tea flavor with just a bit of smoke that comes out a little more with a longer steeping time.
Grassy and revitalizing. This is a great green to have around as a staple. I am gifting this to my Dad for Christmas, who is a green tea lover.
Very traditional green tea. Light flavor but very floral. I don't pick up any smoke like the description hints at.
Strong bold tea, very good if you like this type !!
A pleasant daily drinker that's not too fussy -- I've steeped this longer and shorter amounts of time with no ill effects.
Just ok would prefer a little more flavor but I love the benefit of Green tea
By far my favorite green tea, tastes and smells almost like Matcha Pocky.
It has a nice smoky flavor and good body. It makes for a great morning tea.
A really decent gunpowder green. It smells fresh and has the perfect green tea flavor. A terrific value if you dont want to spend big bucks on fancier green teas but want a quality tea.
My favorite of the green teas. Easily drinkable, not too earth or strong.
A great daily drinker tea. Pretty basic green tea that is cheap and nice
This is the first loose leaf green tea I've tried and I was surprised by how much I liked it. It smells a bit grassy and somewhat like seaweed to me. The taste has no harshness to it and is very delicate and leaves a tingling feeling in my mouth. It re-steeped nicely in my 20oz western teapot.
I'm considering making this tea a staple but it has also encouraged me to try other green teas as well since it was such a pleasant experience.
This tea is even better when it is mixed with one of the mint teas.
This is my go to unpretentious, simple, and approachable green tea. Simple, balanced, and delicious.
I really like this tea. It has a nice bold flavor, which you would expect from a Gunpowder green tea, and is a good value.
Nice mixed with Spearmint as they suggest, but I m not sure I would buy again.
Excellent everyday tea, that also rebrews very well.
Great go to green tea. Be sure to steep at temperature in the instructions.
Always great for morning. It helps get me up and going for the day.
Slightly less flavor than other gunpowders I've had but pretty good.
This green tea has a strong smokey flavor. It's probably not for everyone but I enjoyed it.
It's a nice tea, smokey and grass notes. Cool if you're in the mood for this, but I would say for me personally, it's not an every day tea. :)
A lightly smoky, vegetable tasting green tea that's perfect to drink in large quantities.
I usually get 2-3 infusions out of this tea, as well.
The amount of smokiness is perfect. I tend to prefer earthy teas and this one has definitely become a favorite.
After several years this remains my go to for green tea. Always consistent flavor. Highly recommend for someone looking for a green tea.
2 minutes means 2 minutes - it is a rather delicate tea and gets bitter fast, but the flavor is worth a little extra attention. Very fresh tasting.
Absolutely amazing!! I love the smokiness of this tea, 100% recommend to newbie tea drinkers such as myself!
Subtle smoke isn't something I expected to enjoy in my green tea, but it is a welcome addition.
This is one of the few green teas I like. The hint of smokiness really brings it together.
LOVE this tea. This is my daily green tea. I keep my tin fully stocked on my desk!
Simple gunpowder green. Great staple tea for the collection. Affordable and enjoyable.
This is one of my favorite teas. I love the quality and taste! So delicious. After trying a sample - I'm purchasing a larger bag. It would blend really nicely with other teas as well.
This is such an easy, inexpensive way to enjoy quality green tea. I highly recommend this tea to those new to loose tea brewing.
Mellow taste with no after flavor. Not strong.
This is my favorite tea here, honestly. Unlike some other green tea blends I've had, this one doesn't taste much like vegetables. Instead, it has a nice, earthy, smoky flavor. With just a little bit of honey, it definitely complements the flavor!
this is the perfect tea to drink with mint and sugar !
