A great every day in my mind. The flavor is full and toasty - making this a tea version of comfort food.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

A great every day in my mind. The flavor is full and toasty - making this a tea version of comfort food.
I really enjoyed this tea. It has a smooth yet earthy taste that I struggle to describe. It was a fine green tea. I added a teaspoon of honey which really gave it some underlying warmth and sweetness.
I don't enjoy green teas by themselves and this is no exception, but on the whole of green teas that I've sampled on their own through the CommuniTEA, this one is in the very small number that I didn't hate. I didn't love it, make no mistake, but this was a lot more mild on its own than I expected it to be. I generally use this in my signature blends to give some of the softer, sweeter flavors a little bit of a harder edge to balance them out, though, and I'm sure I'll continue to use it in future blends because it's kind of perfect for that. If you enjoy green teas, you're going to LOVE this. For me, eh. It was okay. Giving it 4 stars instead of 3 though because I love using it in blends so much.
This is a superb tea for green tea lovers. The famous gun powder pearls are fun to watch unfold if you can see into your strainer...
I don't usually drink green teas by themselves. I prefer the stronger taste of black tea. But gunpowder is a very good tea...it lends a smokey peppery taste and is perfect blended with mint for an enjoyable moroccan mint. It's pretty good by itself too, even for this gal that likes her tea strong. But I still prefer green tea in a blend of some sort.
A really smooth gunpowder with none of the bite I've seen in other versions of this tea. Great full flavor.
The dry gunpowder carries the signature smell of green tea that I absolutely adore: sweet, soft, creamy, and with a slightest hint of spice. Freshly brewed, it smells grassy and sweet.
A slight pepperyness is the first flavor I get upon sipping this tea, so I see why it's called gunpowder! It's earthy with no bitterness whatsoever. The mouthfeel is absolutely lovely: soft, smooth, and lubricating. This and dragonwell are definitely my favorite staple green teas thus far.
I’ve been a bit hesitant to try this one, imagining a deep smoky powder flavor... but it’s a nice green tea. Apparently it’s named for how it looks more so than how it tastes.
Loved Gunpowder when I first tried it at Arbor Teas, but I like this kind so much better! I use it in my cold brew pitcher.
One of the smoothest greens I ve ever had. It s substantial like a darker oolong, but doesn t give up its delicateness.
Based on the smell, I expected this to be stronger, but it s actually quite mild and very tasty. It s strongly smokey smelling, but the taste is more rounded and smooth. Not my favorite, but definitely worth trying.
Hands down, my favorite chinese green tea. I will always keep this one on hand.
I love a good green tea and this is just a really good green tea. It has the additional showmanship of also coming in the little gunpowder balls- when serving my friends who aren't as invested in tea I like to have something that seems flashy and this is just unusual enough to get everyone interested.
goes crazy ngl go ahead get it dawgg tastes great i like to have some with whatever im eating
Really like this tea. Great to have in the middle of work.
I LOVE Gunpowder. I've had other brands, but Adagio Gunpowder is wonderful. It's very enjoyable on its own or paired with Citrus Mint.
This is a scrumptious green tea! It has a wonderful subtle flavor. Great for an afternoon pick me up! I usually add a touch of honey but it's tasty without it, too!
Nice and smooth with floral mains and a soft smoky undertone to complement the florality of the tea
I used a slightly more complex brewing process that was recommended to me, involving cleaning and rinsing the tea and letting it boil for a minute. It was very good and smoky. I added too much sugar, but you can t fault the tea for that!
My new favorite green tea. I would recommend this to those that like a green tea but with a 'bit' of smoke to it. Still prefer Lapsang, but this is good.
Best green tea I've tried on Adagio so far, it reminds me of a black tea due to its full flavor and smoky notes. Goes great with spearmint!
I’ve been trying a lot of different teas lately. This one is just ok.
I’ve been really enjoying green teas lately without anything blended into them, this one is on the reorder list for sure
Really enjoy this tea, smoky flavor and perfect for a daily afternoon tea!!
easily my favorite green tea. i love mixing it with a little spearmint and lemongrass
This is such a great green tea! I ve had gunpowder in the past that was bitter/overly smoky, but this one is smooth and round--such a comforting hot cup, either with other flavors or on its own!
a reliable tea, I usually drink this alone, no sugar or milk.
It was fun to make and a pleasant green tea. I'm a snob, and this one fit my standards.
nice slightly robust and smoky.has a very full and smooth mouth feel.
This tea is awesome and I drink it daily. I don't ever add anything to it (some people add honey) as I enjoy it as is. So glad I was recommended to your site!
This is very nice, fresh green tea. Bold aroma and flavor and a little goes a long way, very dense pellets.
This is literally the best tea ever!! We drink so much of it we have to make full pots instead of individual cups
I've tried 5 green teas now from Adagio, and this one is probably my least favorite of the bunch. To me, it had neither the freshness of senchas or the Kukicha nor the tasty mellowness of the Sleeping Dragon and Jasmine Phoenix Pearls. The dusty or smoky flavor seemed a bit plain to me, so I'll leave this tea to those whose enjoy those tastes more than I.
One of my favorite teas for an everyday green tea.
This was an order for my daughter and in her words, v it is absolutely delightful example of a taurine green. Lol
Decent green tea, although I prefer something with a bit more flavor or with some jasmine in it.
A fantastic smokey green tea. I absolutely adore it
My absolute favorite green tea, I love using this as my base for blends
A classic green tea at a very affordable price.
Great flavor! Has a nice kick to it. A stronger green tea which is nice.
Solid, classic green tea with a slight smokiness! Delicious on its own, refreshing with spearmint to make Moroccan mint tea, and nice with a little bit of a fruit tisane added to the steep. The smokiness makes it sort of a nice balance against fruitiness for something different from the usual fruity green teas (which I also like!).
This one made a good cup of green. I didn’t have any spearmint, but I did have peppermint so I made my own version of “Morrocan Mint” which was still pretty tasty.
It was ok, but I have had other gunpowder teas that I have enjoyed more
I like this flavor for a green tea, and I'm not much of a green tea fan. It's also really good in blending with flavored green teas.
Great, deep, and robust green tea flavor. Very delicious.
I love gunpowder tea and this version exceeded my expectations. For the unacquainted palate, gunpowder tea is comparatively bold measured against other green tea varieties. The potent grassy flavor hits the taster instantly before subsiding into a smokey, lingering aftereffect leaving the taster with a clean and refreshing sensation. I would highly recommend
Smoky and warm, a nice strong green tea which, for me, brings back the nostalgia of crisp early morning summer camp counselor shifts.
Very good as a Moroccan Mint Iced Tea. For that I had a 1-1 ratio of gunpowder tea and mint leaves. Recommend it with sugar.
this tea has an excellent flavor! perfect start to my morning!
My favorite green tea yet.. quality as always...
