What an unusually striking flavor! Roasted rice with a malty undertone, far stronger than more stereotypically delicate greens, and extremely interesting. Definitely worth trying if you're into exploring the wide world of green tea. Do make sure not to overheat the water or oversteep this tea, as bitterness is probably *not* genmai cha's best friend.

clean and simple, just the way it should be. nice nutty roasted flavor without being burnt.
★★★★★
Great to add a little variety into my tea drinking. nutty and satisfying
★★★☆☆
I am not a green tea fan, but I wanted to try this blend just because it sounded interesting. I didn't particularly like it, the toasted rice made the green tea taste burnt to me. I'm sure that this may appeal to green tea fans, but just not for me.
★★★★★
This is a great green tea with a unique flavor. The tea has a smokey popcorn flavor. It almost tastes like slightly burned popcorn but in a good way. One of my favorites!
★★☆☆☆
Looked kind of cool, spelled alright, but tasted kind of like burned rice, which if you haven't tasted burned rice, not good.
★★★★☆
My first time drinking this tea..upon opening, the nutty aroma immediately stimulated my senses. I also noticed a few bits of popcorn?..First cup was ..well different..after a few sips I must say I really like it. I taste more of the roasted, nutty rice flavor than the green..The combination of rice and macha is a satisfying taste. This may become one of my daily teas.

I love the genmai cha - excellent, popcorn smell and a full, wheaty taste perfectly complements the green tea.
★★★★★
My favorite 'default' tea. So toasty and aromatic!
★★★☆☆
I will agree with some of the other reviews that say it is a unique flavor. It isn't awful but when I drink it I get a strong burnt popcorn flavor which might turn some people off.
★★★★☆
I love the nutty, rice-y taste of genmai cha. It's also a decent substitute for soba-cha. I feel like every green tea drinker's pantry should have genmai.
★★★☆☆
I probably won't brew this tea again. I bought a sample size because I was intrigued by the unique ingredients. To me, it tastes like a mix between burned popcorn and stale rice-definetly not pleasant. I also find the smell to be really unpleasant. I'm glad I tried it though! I've always been curious of it.
★★★★☆
Good tea. A little bit nutty. It's good as a hot tea but not as a cold tea.
★★☆☆☆
I knew there was popcorn and popped rice in it, but didn't expect it to taste like burned popcorn had fallen into it. Thank goodness Adagio has sample sized pouches so I didn't waste too much money on it c:
★★★★★
I really like this tea. very stong even when seeping for only a minute or 2. It has a very stong nutty-rice flavor to it. I've been able to seep this tea 4-5 times and its still great each time

Perfect for a cold day.I can think of nothing better for a winter day in New England.
★★★★☆
Rich nutty goodness, with hints of the brown rice adding to a lovely bold flavor. A nice break from sweet or floral brews, yet not for the timid.

I absolutely love this tea. Excellent flavor. I feel that sweetening it any ruins it though.
★★★★★
great for someone who is just getting in to tea. my family loved it! this is definitely one of my favorite teas.
★★★★★
This was my first time trying new tea. It turned out to be a great flavored tea, light and aromatic. The rice and corn puffs added a bit of flavor.
★★★★★
My favorite tea by far...it's a staple in my house.
★★★★★
This is definitely the most unique tea experience I've had. Hard to really describe the flavour, but it smells like Rice Krispies cereal and kind of tastes like it, too!

Yummy, this tea has all the nutty goodness I seek in genmai cha. Try adding warm hazelnut milk to this tea for a coffee alternative.
★★★★☆
I liked this tea. It's fun and light and it's one of my top five best.
★★★★★
The perfect Japanese food tea. Grassy and nutty all at the same time.
★★★★★
I love popcorn. I love green tea. How could you go wrong putting them together?!?! It has kind of a 'funky' taste, but I LOVE it. One of my favorite's actually.
★★★★★
I didn't know what to expect with this tea and bought it to try something different. Wow, it is different in a great way. Mild but very fragrent.

This tea is so different! It smells like toasted rice cereal and it tastes like green tea with toasty flavor. It isnt bad, but it is just different, I have a feeling that it could get addicting due to the unique flavor.

This reminds me of sizzling rice soup. It is very mild yet flavorful.
★★★★★
Genmai cha is one of my favorite kinds of teas and adagio does it very well. It's expensive but worth the extra money.
★★★★☆
This tea is so strange that at first I wasn't sure that I liked it. Gave it a second try and decided that it's very worth it. The more I drink it, the better it gets.

One of my favorite green teas-- less grassy in taste than some other greens due to the toasted rice.

Genmai cha is one of my favorite teas of all time. This blend was good but I wished the brown rice flavor was more pronounced.

An unusual tea-- has a nutty/rice flavor. Not something I will drink everyday, but definitely something different/nice to have on hand.
★★☆☆☆
It was much too bitter for me. I've tried a few other brands of genmai cha and they were much more palatable to me.
★★★★☆
In terms of taste, this tea is fairly good. What makes it just a bit better is its smell of popcorn. Good to the tongue and the nose.
★★★☆☆
While this tea had a pleasant 'popcorn' smell, the taste was lacking. I could taste the nuttiness of the tea
★★★★☆
It's great as a nutty, earthy tea, but the rice flavor can easily overwhelm the green tea flavors if steeped even slightly too long. However, as far as the world of Genmai Cha goes, this is a great choice. It's quite smooth and picks up a great taste of crispy rice.
★★★☆☆
I bought this on a whim, wanting to try something new. While interesting to try, it really didn't suit my taste. The popcorn and rice were a little strong.
★★★☆☆
Was interesting to try once but not something that I could buy more than a sample of, grains really overpower the tea

I've always liked different brands of genmai cha and Adagio's brand does not disappoint. The roasted rice gives it a nice earthy texture and flavor and adds a great smell to the green tea. I don't recommend picking out the roasted rice kernals and eating them from this brand. I usually love doing this with other brands, but the rice just tastes gritty if it's done. Maybe it was roasted a bit too much or something. However, it is still a great tea that everybody should try. It goes great with meals and even just as a palate cleanser as it leaves a great roasted aftertaste. :D
★★★★★
I love that nutty flavor! Perfect as an evening tea!
★★★★★
An excellent tea for a great price. One of my favs!
★★★★☆
Very tasty, although I tend to prefer a liiiittle more rice flavor in my Gen Mai Cha. Tastes great and looks very lovely as a loose leaf.

My favorite, always come back to genmai cha and it's deja'vu for some very good times. Love the toasty flavor, and would love to know the true history.
★★★★☆
A rare and different bird indeed. Very full bodied, toasted flavor. Will be great in the mornings!
★★★★☆
This has a unique flavor, that would take getting used to if you like sweeter teas. I for one like unique teas and this held its own. It tastes just like it smells, kind of nutty. I Brewed a cup for my mother and she added sweetener to hers, I don't recommend that, as it tasted awful. Why ruin a great cup of tea with sweetener anyways? Genmai cha goes out of stock quick, so get it while you can.

Genmai cha is a delicious green tea. The earthy taste of popped rice complements the grassy taste of green tea well, and Adagio adds bits of popcorn to add another nuance to the flavor.
