I've never had this type of tea before, and it's just not for me. The rice taste is too strong and tastes slightly burnt to me.

I really enjoy this tea, it is very savory and comforting!

★★★★★

I used to drink genmaicha all the time so this really brought back memories! It smells wonderful while brewing and has a delicious toasty, slightly nutty flavor. This will be a favorite in the coming winter months!

This was not my cup of tea. I'm finding that I don't particularly care for teas that are a bit more on the savory side of things. I prefer the ones that are a bit more delicate, and mellow. So, while this tea didn't work for me personally, I do think it is worth a try - unless you've already figured out you don't this type of tea.

★★★★★

I really liked this one a lot, though it had more toasted rice than I expected. But it was really good when I want a savory green tea. Nice and toasty

★★★☆☆

nutty taste i am not feeling. i personally don't taste anything other than the earthy nutty flavor. not my favorite but that is why you buy samples!

★★★★☆

I like my green tea a little stronger than this got, I left it longer to give it as much flavour as possible, it's still a gorgeous tea, and I enjoy every drop or it! Also makes a great iced tea!

The tastiest genmai cha I ever had was actually from bottles of Oishi in Thailand. Yeah, I know that it's probably too sweetened and maybe artificially flavored to be what a purist would call tea, but dang it that stuff was tasty. I bought Adagio's genmai to try to recreate that flavor and...unfortunately this is almost nothing like it at all. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think the toasted rice is too overpowering in this one. Still, that doesn't make the Adagio one less tasty, but it just makes me want to go back to Thailand and drink Oishi bottled genmai cha even more. VERY GOOD sweetened and iced.

This is a unique tea, and one of my favorite Japanese greens. I first had this variety at an upscale sushi place in San Francisco, where it took me by surprise. Adagio's version is just as good, in my opinion, with that terrific toasty taste of the rice that blends so nicely with the green tea flavor.

★★★★☆

The smell of this tea is delicious! Flavor-wise, it's a good everyday green tea with a slight aftertaste of the roasted rice. I was advised to only steep it for two minutes, so the flavor wasn't intense. I think it would be nice as an iced tea.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this one but I've wanted to try it for a long time so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. The scent is a wee bit off-putting but the flavor. Oh my, the flavor is fantabulous! Where the scent is strong, the flavor is so delicate and unique. I'll definitely be making this one that I keep on hand.

Continues to serve me as a nutty bitter tea, best had with revenge.

Have had this from another company and not sure why I didn't like this...just didn't I guess.

It's like green tea popcorn, and I mean that in the best way. It's pretty much addicting.

★★★★★

I absolutely love the aroma and taste of genmai cha, and Adagio's does not disappoint. It's heavy on the rice and popped corn but if you're looking for something that is a little different from straight Japanese green tea, try it out!

★★★★☆

Pretty good. Nice, green flavor. I really liked this tea.

★★★☆☆

I've had better genmaicha's, this one isn't as toasted as others that I've had before. I like the sencha base, but the grassyness overpowers the toasted rice.

Genmaicha has always been one of my favourite teas, and the Adagio version definitely does not disappoint! It has such a comforting, nostalgic flavour... Perfect for a chilly winter day!

★★★★★

i love the pure taste of this tea. Its my everyday tea.

★★★★★

Great any time of the day tea! Tastes like rice and is very refreshing.

★★★☆☆

Wow, that's nutty! It's actually kind of mind-boggling how popcorn-y this tastes. I haven't decided yet whether that's good or bad.

★★★☆☆

This tea is very nutty. I usually like green tea but probably won't be getting genmai cha again -- that's not to say it's bad, just not really to my tastes.

★★★★☆

This is a good tea, though rather basic, as far as genmai cha goes. If you enjoy genmai cha in general, you'll like this tea. It's a grassier green tea base roasted with brown rice, which gives it the smell and flavor, somewhat, of popcorn.

★★★★☆

Good. A little strong for my taste, but not horrible.

★★★★★

This tea is unlike anything I have ever tasted. A wonderfully toasty nutty quality mixed with a deep green tea.

★★★★★

I have been drinking this tea for years because it gives you the pampered feeling of having a little toast with your tea. Very satisfying if you are on a diet because the fragrance of the toasted rice kernels and the mouth feel of a great cup of Japanese green tea

A hearty and nutty roasted tasting tea. Excellent iced as well (my mom is Japanese and roasted barley tea was always in our fridge) and doesn't lose flavor when refrigerated for a day or two.

★★★★★

My first experience with this tea. I enjoyed the toasty-ness of the rice a lot more than I thought I would. I iced a bit of the pot, but that seems like a waste and it definitely lends itself to hot tea better.

I enjoyed it. but little too much of toasted

★★★★☆

This tasted oddly like popcorn. But I like popcorn, so that is ok. Definitely not iced tea material, but I enjoyed it immensely!

A strong green tea with wonderfully nutty tones.

★★★★★

Strong, just as I like it. Often better and sushi restaurants I've been to.

Delicious! A fine sencha base, and the longer it steeps, the more of the nutty rice flavor comes through. This is handy if you're partial to it, since you can worry less about oversteeping.

So good! This tea is a really amazing and authentic genmai cha.

With a proper nuttiness from the toasted rice, this is a good gateway green tea, though some haters may comment on how they smell it from across the room.

★★★★★

Until trying genmai cha, I didn't realize a tea could taste toasty--and be delicious--but it can. I drink genmai cha when I want a caffeine-free alternative to coffee. Made strong, I sometimes add milk, but never if I make it standard strength. I do tend to make it far stronger than the suggested 2 minutes, usually brewing between 4-6 minutes.

This tea is pretty good. The rice gives it a nice toasty flavor. Great if you like popcorn!

I love the toasted rice flavor of this tea. I like to steep a little less than the recommended time and then reuse for second cup!

★★★★★

This is a very good green tea. I usually don't like many green teas, mainly I like the Japanese varieties anyway. I decided to try this one becauuse of the tea I have been gettting at my local sushi restaurant and this is very close and very good. The nutty flavor of the roasted rice and bits of popcorn mellow the flavor and takes away any grassy flavor. Really a delicious tea to be enjoyed anytime.

Yummy green tea! The aroma is amazing and the taste is just as good. Definitely not your typical green tea, the nutty flavors are delicious.

★★★★☆

I quite enjoyed this green tea! I could really taste the toasted, popped rice. :-)

★★★★☆

I really enjoy the nutty flavor that the popcorn adds to this tea!

★★★★☆

I love genmai cha, and the colour is a nice deep green. This particular blend was a bit fishy for some reason though, or at least more so than the last

★★★★★

I really liked the toasted rice flavor. The tea was smooth with no bitter astringent flavor. It reminds me of chinese sizzling rice soup, except obviously it's not made with stock. I will be getting a bigger bag of this.

★★★★★

This is a really interesting tea! It's rich and smoky--doesn't really taste, as you might expect, like cereal. Good green notes. Make sure you let the water get all the way up to 180 degrees.

This is one of my favorite green teas now. I love the toasty notes that it has... very yummy!

★★★★☆

Genmai cha is a very hearty tea. It fills me up so it's a great at breakfast. I only gave it a 'good' rating and not a 'great' rating because it's not my favorite green tea. The toasted rice is the most prevalent flavor and I prefer a more vegetal taste.

★★★★★

I absolutely love this genmai cha! delicious, with a nutty flavor that is great hot, and also yummy over ice in hot weather. Probably my favorite of the green teas, I never get tired of it.
