Unusual flavors that you won’t find in other teas, and a nice change of pace from the typical black and herbal teas I drink so frequently. Reminds me of dining in Asian restaurants. I enjoyed it but it’s not something I would buy.

One day in Japanese class, we made onigiri. The flavor kind of reminds me of it, and I like it a lot.

For some reason, this reminds me of Honey Smacks cereal. It is a fun little tea, the green is nice and smooth and the popped rice adds a fun smokey flavor.

This Japanese tea is toasty but more of a toasted rice flavor. Smooth and not bitter, it's a lovely way to drink green tea without the grassiness. Plus, the rice added is a fun touch.

I am pleasantly surprised by wonderful aroma as I begin to brew tea. Childhood memories of eating puffed rice cereal while watching cartoons on a Saturday morning coming rushing back to me. I can't help but to smile. I taste the tea and notice a surprisingly strong nutty flavor. There is NO grassiness at all which is another pleasant surprise. I may have to put this on my wish list!

The dry tea is just beautiful with bits of bright white popped rice, roasted brown rice and dark forest green needles of tea. When water is added, it all swirls around in a lively show as the leaves open up. The aroma is strongly dry-roasted. The taste is quite different with a lightly grassy, smooth, starchy and savory flavor and a clean, slightly dry finish. A delicious cup.

This tea is a pretty pale green color, with a unique and satisfying aroma and flavor that reminds me of a rice cake. The mild, toasty, nutty flavor doesn't overpower the delicate green tea base and pairs well with honey. It is very satisfying and could be sipped alongside anything.

Today’s tea was so out of my “norm”, but how fun to try this sample, of genmai cha. Let me tell you, just seeing the toasted rice in my “tea”, very intriguing, then to have that “popped” aroma just lingering in the air, was kind of perfect for this Funday. I won’t lie, 1st steep a bit too strong for my tongue, not sure if ok, but re-steep for second try. So interesting is all I can say! If never tried genmai, and like unusual, this is definitely a fun tea to try. Today’s star reflect “ my” personal preference only, as for the tea everything about it was as expected in Adagio tea. I usually don't gravitate towards grassy green teas but this is one I will definitely buy more of. It has little to no astringency with a very smooth body, and an umami roasted vegetal flavor with nutty notes from the rice. There's a nice savory quality to it, very nice to sip on a cold day. Good for 2-3 infusions.

This is good and probably not one I would have picked on my own. Smells of cereal - I can taste the green and rice and just a tinge of sweet at finish.

It's a fun tea to try if you're into unusual combinations & additions, but it seems like a one-time taste test tea rather than a regular morning cup.

First of all, for me this tea is amusing. The whole idea of the popcorn rice additive is interesting and one wonders if some food accidentally fell into the tea? or just how it came about. The flavor is good and enjoyable window for me into another culture

I really love the toasty popcorn (rice) addition in this green tea. It gives it a more robust flavor, which I find satisfying.

I love everything about this tea. The toasty notes from the rice, the mellow, vegetable notes from the green tea, the distinctive but not overpowering bouquet. Green tea lovers can't go wrong with this blend.

This was offensively bad. I can see why some people would like it, but it is certainly not for me. It has a sort of toasted marshmallow flavor to it.

I've had several brands of Genmai Cha, this one isn't as toasty as some but still good.

I really didn't like this at first. It's not one you can fudge the timing on, it gets very bitter, very fast. It's still a bit bitter when properly brewed. It's really growing on me, though. The nutty flavor is pleasant once you get used to it.

OH WOW. this is amazing! the flavor is slightly nutty and kind of tastes like jasmine tea. i was hoping i'd love it (I bought 3oz without trying it first) and I was NOT disappointed. I reused the tea leaves (not sure if you're supposed to but whatever) and it may have been better on the second cup than the first! i'm drinking my second cup in 2 hours with no regrets.

This green tea definitely lives up to all the good reviews. I don't normally buy green tea, but I've never tried Genmaicha and it sounded very enticing with the popped rice. It has an amazing aroma that, to me, is almost stronger than the flavor of the tea itself, which is not a bad thing at all. It has more of a grassy and almost seaweed-like taste according to my palate, but the nuttiness also shines through. Overall, very comforting and I will likely get it again!

This is a beautiful, toasty gen mai cha, and the quality of the tea is one of the best I've ever tasted. I am not a fan of the synthetic tea bags, and only use loose teas for myself. But, my husband only uses tea bags. I will buy the loose teas and bag them for him, but my life would be easier if I were able to just buy the tea in non-synthetic bags... yes, I know it would be easier if my husband learned to brew the loose tea himself. But, we work with what we can.

This is now my favorite green tea! If you've ever had norimaki arare (those little Japanese rice cracker snacks that are wrapped in seaweed), this is exactly what this smells and tastes likes. If you like those, you'll definitely like this!

Genmai Cha being my favorite type of tea, I am very particular over the quality/toasting/taste of the grains used. Adagio's loose-leaf Genmai Cha is absolute perfection.

When I was in Japan a year ago. I wanted a Japanese doll. But they were way too expensive. So I bought a green tea container full of Genmaicha green tea and it was designed like a doll. It wasn’t until I read a tea book that I realized that the tea in that canister was genmaicha tea. Now I have that tea for that container again and it tastes like the authentic Japanese one.

If the flavor I'm looking for is 'toasty' without being spicy or smoky, then Genmai Cha is what I reach for. There's a warm brown nuttiness to the flavor of this tea that few other teas provide. It pairs well with honey or other sweeteners, and tends to still have some of the usual characteristics of a green tea--that green grassiness, but it's very mellow and tends to be a sideline to the roasty notes the rice provides.

As soon as I opened this I was in love just by the fragrance. A wonderful rich and earthy green tea blended with toasted, popped rice that will so thrill your taste buds that you will keep getting more. It really cannot be over brewed (I did) for the rice takes out any bitterness. Adding honey may be a enhancement for some, but for me drinking tea neat for all that it will be just by itself is what I will always do.

Oh my oh my. I love this one. I was curious about the toasted rice flavor, and it does not disappoint. The green tea is grassy, sweet, and subtle. The rice gives it a great scent that feels very nostalgic though I can't put my finger on what exactly it reminds me of. It does smell a little like popcorn as described. Either way its a very comforting cup that I highly recommend. I will definitely be ordering more once I run out.

I have only brewed this once so perhaps I need to experiment with it more, but as I had it, it was a little weak. The flavor was nice and warm and nutty as I would expect, but it was just kind of neutral. The green tea taste and nutty taste were both there, but neither of them were very pronounced.

I wish I could give this tea more stars. It is mindblowingly outstanding. Hands down this is my favorite tea. I already love sencha, but the rice kernels add such a soft and delightful nuttyiness. I could not recommend Genmai Cha tea any more, it is truly wonderful.

This is hands-down my favorite tea, so I've tried it from all kinds of places and brewers and can say Adagio's is a good budget-friendly option. I prefer to let it brew longer to get the flavor I want, but I'd say the most important part of the brewing process is to not use boiling (212 F) water as it will burn the leaves and make the flavor bitter. Would highly recommend!

Light and nutty - I inevitably left a cup to steep too long after forgetting about it, and I was surprised that the tea did not become astringent.
