Earthy taste of the green tea combined with the taste of toasted rice make this tea unique
This is a very unique tea. It is almost savoury with a great nutty flavour to it. It is very unique and goes best with Japanese food.
It reminds me so much of a rice š cracker...so itās like drinking tea and eating a rice cracker all in one! Yum! š
This might be the only green tea I actually like. It's got a toasty flavor from the rice that I find quite enjoyable. Not a favorite by any means as I'm not a huge green fan, but if the mood strikes, this is the one I would reach for.
This tea tastes like popcorn to me and I'm OK with that! At first I made the mistake of over steeping and it was too bitter. After another try with only a 2 minute steep it was wonderful!
I love the popcorn rice taste of this tea.reminds me of eating at a Chinese restaurant.
tastes kind of like popcorn or soup, very nice tea
Always a winner...slightly sweet , mild and easy drinking. Would be perfect for first time green tea drinker.
My favorite Tea to go day and night!!! steep for 208 degrees 5-10 mins before I drink
my first cup of tea.
Very mild and great flavor. Good sipping tea for the afternoon.
My go-to green tea after having it many times at a local sushi joint. My partner thinks it smells weird but I love the popcorn-y smell! Definitely buttery and nutty, I recommend trying this if you're looking to add variety to your green tea selection.
If you like sesame oil, you'll like this. I do not like sesame oil, so this tea wasn't for me.
I don t know if I would drink this everyday, but it is a good, hearty, nutty flavored tea. It great to explore different teas.
Quite tasty, though a lot more rice than green tea.
This is my boyfriend's favorite tea. It's got a great umami flavor and warmth of the toasted rice.
The bagged version of this tea ('green popcorn tea') was one of the first things I ordered through Adagio, and its only grown on me since then. IMO it's worth trying for the novelty alone -- I don't think I've ever had another tea like it. Personally, I love how it smells. It's flavourful and well balanced. It doesn't get overwhelming or bitter if you leave it to steep for longer.
It's a very unique flavor. It tastes a lot like sesame oil to me.
Amazing! the rice fragrance is absolutely perfect and such a great tea to serve with a meal. The tea quality seems to be very good as well!
One of my favorite teas. I love the toasted rice flavor. I toast instant rice and put it in by broth soups for that toasted taste.
Such a fun drink, always enjoy a cup. Tastes like the description says.
I really loved this tea! Green tea with a wonderfully fresh taste, accented by rich toasted rice. Tastes like the Genmaicha I've had in Japan, and probably one of the best green teas I've had in general. The rice itself turns a weird texture after steeping, so I probably won't eat it as I do with apple pieces. However, the flavor is all there in the tea, so not much of an issue to me!
the earthiness of the green tea gets rounded out with a nice nutty toasted flavour due to the puffed rice
Impossible not to like this tea. I don t have a thermometer or other way of ensuring the correct green tea temperature right now, but this tea still stands up to my abuse and is delicious as ever.
This tea was so interesting. The smell as it brewed reminded me of Rice Krispies. The flavor was mellow and subtle, but the rice gave it an earthy flavor that I found quite nice. My husband, however, didn't care for it at all. He said it tasted like mud.
Wow!! I love being able to sample these teas and try things that, as a tea newbie, I would have never heard of or considered before, like toasted rice and popcorn in tea. Double points for the lore and history about the rice being used by people in Japan to stretch out tea during hard times. The tea itself is a really lovely, vegetal green tea, with no unpleasant bitterness. I didn t smell any of the toasted rice or popcorn in the sample bag, but as soon as I added the hot water I was hit by very strong toasted rice and sesame oil aromas, which were very enticing. The result is probably as savory a flavor as tea can give, with a full, rounded nuttiness encircling a delicate, grassy green tea. A big winner for me! Second steep was slightly less nutty and toasty but still delicious.
Absolutely 5 stars on this delicious nutty Genmai Cha! Makes me feel like I am eating at my favorite sushi restaurant! Definitely stick with the 180 degrees on this delicate green tea and no more than 3 minutes unless you like a stronger flavor. I also re-steep twice at the same temp but with each one I do a minute longer each time. I love this tea so much I bought the big bag. :-)
The toasted rice emphasizes the earthiness of the tea, making for a perfect cup
Really enjoyed the nutty, popcorn-y flavors in this tea.
The Toasted rice flavor comes through nicely, with a strong, earthy/grassy green tea flavor I really enjoy. This is best sipped without sugar. I brew this at 2 min 30 seconds at 180F (make sure to warm that cup as well!).
I am a huge fan of Genmai Cha teas and I really enjoy this one! Wonderful toasty flowers from the rice blend well with the green tea. My only comment is that the chosen green tea is a little bitter, especially if it is over steeped, so keep an eye on it while steeping.
Such a classic green tea. Exactly what you would expect for a Genmai Cha green. Can (and try to) drink this every day.
This tea tastes like 'what if puffed rice cereal were a beverage?' I think it s just a matter of preference whether or not that s a good thing. For me, it tastes like the disappointment of discovering your parents couldn t afford store-brand cheerios this week, and bought the big bag of rice puffs instead, and that s not something I want to drink.
This tea is so toasty! It sort of tastes like I'm drinking popcorn and I love it
Popcorn, roasted rice, and green tea. So tasty! I always enjoy this one.
Love it! Very comforting tea, I like to drink it when Iām not feeling well.
I think there should be more tea leave than roasted rice. The one I got when I visited Japan is better than this one. I like Genmai cha and I'm still on a quest to find a good one in the states.
I have to mix this batch with a sencha that I have to have a stronger tea flavor.
Love this! This is such a surprising tea. The flavor is warm and toasty with the vegetal notes you expect from green tea.
I fell in love with Genmai Cha (popcorn green tea) and crave it more than any other green tea, so I'm thrilled that Adagio gets it so right! This is a green tea that is very forgiving and comes out delicious and not bitter even if you aren't hovering over it counting seconds and sticking thermometers in the water. As long as the water is below boiling (190 or lower but this one is forgiving so you don't need special equipment, just stop heating the water before it starts to bubble and this tea will be fine) and you don't forget to stop steeping for too long, you'll still have a gorgeous cup that needs nothing added. It's perfect as is.
I believe this is my favorite tea ever! The soft notes of toasted rice blend perfectly with the green tea in this blend.
Rice and tea sounds like a weird combination, but this. tea. is. delicious. It has a wonderful roasty-toasty quality to it that fades a bit with multiple steepings, but that just allows the tea itself to shine more.
This is the first time I was able to understand how a tea could be fun. I was introduced to this genmai cha in the green tea sampler and it instantly became one of my favorites. It's toasty and warm. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
This is one of my favorite teas. There is something about its nuttiness that I just cannot get enough of.
My all time favorites. I look forward each day to having this tea. Itās goooood! Not that I was looking to give up coffee but I donāt feel the need to have coffee anymore. This is much better for my tummy as well. Game changer!
I've always loved the unique flavor of genmaicha, which reminds me of a drinkable seaweed snack. I like to add a bit of honey for a sweet and savory experience.
Purchased for a friend, but she says she really enjoys it.
Eh. Wish it had more of the toasted flavor. Not the best genmaicha, but certainly not the worst by any means. If they added just a tad more rice to it, (of course it could have been the scoops I got out of the bag) It d fantastic. Also wish they made this available to custom blend with. That toasted rice flavor would be a good ingredient in 'baked goods' kind of flavor profiles.
This is a very nice everyday type of green tea with a nice nutty/malty flavor added by the popped rice. Even my fiancƩ, who is not so into the grassy taste of most Japanese green teas, was impressed. The price is also great.
This has such a wonderful smoky rice flavor. I can imagine Uncle Iroh drinking this tea in the Earth Kingdom. Got a sample but will likely buy a larger bag soon.
Always a favorite. Great roast-y, nutty flavor that complements the green tea base well.
i love the unusual nutty taste of the toasted rice in this tea
