Love this tea! The slight nutty flavor from the rice and popcorn make this so soothing and comforting. I add a little honey and it’s perfect. I like it strong so I steep it a little longer.
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

Genmaicha is over of my favorite tea, and this is a great variety of it. It's lightly roasty toasty flavor is great.
Rice crispy cereal and popcorn meets tea! I love this with honey. It's extremely comforting and warming. If you don't love green tea but want the health benefits this might be the one for you because the flavor is so unique and not as classically 'green tea' flavored.
This tea is quickly becoming a favorite. The unique flavor and history make me want more. Thanks 😊
Something about this tea just makes me hungry! The buttery flavor itself is amazing, I love to have this tea with meals to compliment the flavor. This can rebrew at least one more time. I want to always have this in my selection!
Nutty, light, refreshing. Love it! It not grassy. Great to mix with milk and honey. Also good cold with lemon
This seemed like a quality tea but it simply didn’t do the trick for me. The sample was fresh and packaged well but it simply wasn’t to my taste.
very much no. in the bag it smelled like latex but I decided to go ahead and brew it. did not drink it, as the smell of a brewed cup was also not enjoyable. sort of a plastic-y smell.
Subtle toasty taste. Smells like popcorn but does not taste like popcorn. I added a tiny bit of sugar and it reminds me of cereal. Like the essence of a rice Krispy.
I've been searching for this tea ever since visiting China. It was served at a banquet there and this is very similar. Love it!
Love this tea. It’s my go to when I want more pep in my step, but still want the benefits of green tea. Love the toasted rice flavor.
I love good fresh Genmai cha tea & this definitely meets that description. It is a very calming, warm nutty tea that I love to drink when I curl up with a good book
I only got a sample since I was not sure if I would like it I have since came back twice for this tea its sooooooo good
yumm this is my favorite tea I have it every morning, multiple cups a day. I'm obsessed. This is the best, my sister introduced me!
Very high-quality genmaicha. Refreshing green tea, nuttiness from the popped brown rice and and mellow sweetness from the popcorn. A great cold-weather tea.
This is a favorite of mine. Not bitter or astringent and the toasted rice does make the taste similar to popcorn. I steeped it four times, steeping a bit longer each time. The fourth steep was still good but I could tell a fifth steep would be too weak.
Nutty roasted rice flavor and a smooth green tea experience. One of
My cozy favorites!
I never would have thought to buy this so I am grateful I was given a sample. It has such a comforting toasted flavor. Really mellow and unique, great with milk or cream. I quickly purchased a bag after trying it.
Very likely my favorite green tea of all time. It has such a unique taste, lovely aroma, great all around.
If I had stopped at one cup, this might have had a lower review. For the first cup, I followed the directions on the packaging, and it seemed weak. However, the smell was amazing. I did a second steeping with the same teaspoon for a few minutes longer, and it was so good. Will definitely be getting more!
I only tired a toasted rice tea for the first time recently and I adored it. My second time trying it was less great. So I was really hoping this would be good and I was not disappointed. The flavor was warm and deliciously toasty. It only got a tiny bit bitter towards the end.
I'm pretty iffy on most green teas, I like the subtlety of the tea but not always the earthy flavor. This combines the subtlety of a great green tea with those toasted notes of the rice. This is a home run for people who aren't sure if they're green tea fans. This will be a constant in my home selections now.
This is a unique tea that will surprise your friends that are rare tea drinkers. The toasted rice taste complements this green tea and the combination makes both flavors more interesting. I always have it on hand and people who say they don't like green tea are intrigued by its 'differentness'. This tea has been a consistent member of my morning tea team for years. I keep this tea available because many visitors have not tried it and I enjoy their reponse (mostly good).
I'm writing the review, but this is actually my husband's tea. He's always loved genmai cha, and this was a pretty good price point for it. He said he loves it.
Love the warm nutty flavor of the toasted rice in this one! Tasty with no bitterness, even if you over-steep it a bit.
I'm not much of a green tea drinker, so it's entirely possible this one just wasn't for me. Its flavor is certainly unique, and not at all unpleasant. It has a warm, roasted taste to it, but I found it a little one-note. This seems like a tea best enjoyed with a good jam or something else bright and acidic.
This tea was so different and awesome. Flavor profile is super savory. Definitely a toasted rice as main flavor. There is a nutty flavor in there too though I don't think I could pin it to a specific nut. I didn't get the grassy flavor that comes with many green teas here it was just a mellow green base and I am glad for that as I think vegetal or grassy notes would have really got in the way of the things I like in this one. Might just be me, but I am actually reminded of some of the flavor notes of hominy when drinking this. I added nothing to my cup and added to favorites list. So glad to try this one in CT this month. Going to try to get more steeps out of it now. 180° 3 min
I was first introduced to genmaicha at a local coffee shop, I believe... they featured some, incredible loose teas, and I was hooked by the intricate flavor.
This does not disappoint. Smooth tea, with incredible toasty rice aroma & just enough green to balance. Simply divine!
I think I got a bad batch. I recall LOVING this tea before, but today it tastes like BURNT popcorn, grass, and even smelled a little skunky. It was an absolute no for me today.
CommuniTEA sample: 2 min @ 180, following cups for 3 min @ 180. If you want to ease into green teas, this is your starter. It’s toasty, sweet, a little nutty, and is very much like puffed rice cereal! It’s very tasty, and very pretty, seeing the little popped rice kernels that look like popcorn! I would say it’s also got a slightly heavy body and silky mouthfeel, maybe from starches in the rice? But some nice, fresh, green tea flavor beneath all of that, really lovely tea overall and a great way to appreciate some of those fresher, greener notes without having something immediately described as grassy.
I'm not usually a fan of green teas or a toast-y taste to my tea, so this tea was a hard sell for me. While I enjoyed tasting an international tea that's popular among tea drinkers, it's not something I'll seek out in the future.
It smells a little grassy and like cooked rice. It tastes toasty, and reminds me of burnt rice at the bottom of a rice cooker (in a good way). Green tea provides a smooth vegetal base. This is a pretty good genmai cha.
I knew NOT to brew this with boiling hot water because this particular type of tea is really bad if brewed in water that's too hot. I used my Ninja on a green tea setting because I didn't feel like messing around with a thermometer. I'm just not a fan of roasted brown rice flavor, so this isn't for me. Always good to give it a try, just to be sure.
I am shocked that I haven't rated my 'honey smacks' tea. I have this most mornings with a little honey. I love the toasty rice fragrance and taste.
I am OBSESSED. I can get 2-3 good steeps by increasing the time by a minute each time :)
Comforting and easy on the stomach. The aroma reminds me of the puffed rice cereal my grandmother served me, but in a more pleasant way because she was a lot to deal with.
This is an acquired taste but once you acquire it nothing’s better, I didn’t care for it the first time I tried it but I found myself craving it and now it’s my favorite
You can smell the nuttiness immediately! Love the roasted balance of the rice and the vegetal green tea. I've just been having a half scoop and it feels sustaining, like broth. Good for people who like a little more toasty depth. And a good middle ground between most darker grassy green teas VS hojicha and oolong. A little honey goes a long way too.
Super tasty and toasty! As good as what you can get in Japan, possibly even better. Just the right amount of earth and green notes. Like drinking a cup of Mother Nature honestly.
This tea has such a unique flavor; nutty, slightly earthy, and a taste that's strong without being overpowering. This is a great tea for any time of day, and tastes wonderful both on its own and with a touch of honey.
This is a favor for taking my mushroom supplements in the morning. I sweeten it with a liposomal hair supplement with an almond flavor!!
Tried this one out of curiosity, and while I enjoy the savory toasted rice flavor and will very gladly continue to drink it, I can't see it becoming one of my go-to teas. An interesting, unique tea experience, though!
Update: Turns out I lied. It has indeed become one of my go-to teas, and I yearned for it once it was gone. The toasted taste and aroma grew on me exponentially after my initial review.
this is my favorite tea I've ever had. it's so smooth and mellow without being bland. it's a staple.
i don't think this is the tea for me. it doesn't really taste that much like tea in my opinion, more like the popped rice. i tried making ochazuke with it which i think turned out better than sipping it (but i put too much canned salmon as a topping, which was harmonizing pretty well until a point i just got tired of eating wet rice and fish...)
Nutty, savory, and perfect for an afternoon pick me up. The ratio is heavier on the toasted rice, so I supplement by adding more green tea leaves or a scoop of matcha.
This was absolutely delightful!! I would definitely get this again!!!
I liked this better than other puffed rice teas in the past. Lovely nutty aroma. I liked this one and the matcha-covered variant.
I've tried many versions of Genmaicha, and Adagio's is among my favorites. It may be because there's quite a bit of rice added, which tones down the bitterness of the tea. It's just the right balance for my taste.
I accidentally ordered two bags of this and was worried of if I didn’t like it. Definitely a good cuppa and the added popped rice in there adds a nice touch of flavor
What an interesting savory tea! Smells just like buttered popcorn, and tastes not too far off too! I say not too far off, but trust me, not in a bad way. As stated, this is a savory tea, so be prepared for a not sweet experience, that said, I thought it was quite delicious with hints of roasted peanut (no peanuts are in this tea) along side that signature popcorn flavor. I imagine this would be a nice tea to pair with a bowl udon.
