This is my favorite of the green teas. I buy it religiously, if you haven't tried dragonwell you are missing out. It isn't grassy at all which is what i really love about it, it has more of a soft buttery type taste, with hints of floral notes.
One of China's most famous teas, from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Distinctive flattened leaf shape gives the tea an inviting, toasty aroma. Sweet rounded flavor, like freshly roasted white corn. Nutty, buttery texture, pleasantly dry finish.

Dragonwell makes a light cup that keeps me coming back. I found that I prefer Sencha Overture, as it is stronger and thicker. Perhaps this can be thought of as a summer tea with matcha representing a winter tea. I took the advice of the grower and use spring water sometimes when I brew this tea. The clear water gives it an even lighter feel. Overall I was disappointed at the lack of flavor, though I can see where the original description characterized it as reminiscent of buttery roasted white corn, which is mostly a texture sensation.
This is my go-to, every day 'I have to get this work done' tea. It's a great standby.
I was firs turned on to lose leaf with dragonwell and this did not disappoint.
I had this unsweetened, very good flavor. A nice roasted flavor.
This is green tea that I enjoyed. It needs to be drank before it starts to cool off, though or it will be bitter.
Nutty, mellow, and lightly 'roasty' in flavor, this is a green that I often find myself reaching for when I'm in the green mood. What more can one say? It's a good and fairly cost-effective dragonwell staple for the ol' tea cabinet. (Note: I prefer to brew this one for 2 minutes, or even slightly under, as the current iteration of this particular tea seems to steep more on the spinach-y side of things when overbrewed.)
Single greatest green tea I've ever tasted. So pure.
This is my new favorite green tea. I will reorder many times.
This is a great green tea. There are better ones out there in terms of taste, but for some reason I always come back to this one. It's mild without that grassy, vegetable tea taste some greens can come with *cough*green pekoe*cough*. This tea is great anytime you want to relax and know that you're putting something good into your body.
Wonderful green tea. I tried what the grower recommended and brewed it for 25 minutes with the water at 90 degrees. It was quite interesting but still tasted great!
I love this tea. My favorite green. It has a nice subtle flavor to it.
As you learn the necessities for steeping a great cup of tea, you will undoubtedly learn just how to deal with tea's that are of irregular shapes and sizes. This tea is one of those that can be difficult to measure in terms of 'teaspoons' because of the unusual long beautiful green leaves. I have learned an 'eye ball and a pinch' method for measuring this type of leaf. This tea is recommended for steeping at a starting rate of 1/2tsp per cup of 170 degree filtered water. This is a nice light tea with 'green, light grassy overtones'. Very enjoyable...Steve.
This green tea delivers a pleasant taste and interesting leaf shape.
An excellent everyday brew with a nutty, savory flavor. Not particularly grassy at all. I find it to be easier on an empty stomach than most green teas.
I'm pretty neutral on this one. It's okay, very neutral, very grassy, and I'll generally go for genmaicha or sencha instead. It's not bad by any means, just isn't unique enough to grab me.
A nice cheap, mild flavored green tea! Not the highest quality, but great when you want to drink multiple cups without feeling guilty.
At first i thought there wasn't enough flavor to this tea. I then realized that was because I tried it right after drinking a huge cup of gunpowder green. This tea has an amazing flavor. A light, natural feel that I love in a good green.
Wow, this is incredible. Truly a wonderful green tea. It's very, very grassy, though, so if you're not into that I wouldn't recommend it.
After having sampled innumerable dragonwell teas and their various grades, this particular dragonwell ranks fairly high in taste experience. One will experience the psuedo-fatty herbal-nutty flavor that is very distinct and the fresh corporeal feeling while having the first cup. There are two downsides to this dragonwell -- the flavors weaken immensely after the first cup, so do not expect the leaves to be useable for taste purposes after two cups (the other goodies of green tea will still steep out for another couple cups). Most of the buds are broken as well when they reveal themselves on saturation. Despite those down points, this is one of the tastiest dragonwells I have ever had and will purchase this again in the future.
Nutty, a bit savory, a bit sweet, rather vegetal. I didn't quite get the buttery texture with this one. It was almost there, but not quite. Either way, a lovely green tea, as can be expected.
This green tea taste amazing I can't ever just have one glass.
Just the same as what I brought home from China. Even from the same farm!
This is a classic tea. It tastes like seaweed-flavored water.
I can definitely taste the sweetness in this tea. It's a tea that you need to pay attention to - it's not your mindless drink-while-you're-doing-something-else tea.
I really love green tea but this ones not my cuppa.
A nice satisfying grassy green tea. One of the best I have ever had. A good almost buttery taste with a dry finish. I only ordered the sample, will be getting a larger amount next time.
A long time favorite of mine. It has a subtle sweetness that is very flattering to the general green flavor. It's very smooth and soothing. Even the feel of the leaves is silky!
Continues to be a favorite.
Again, continues to be a favorite. I use this as a celebration tea.
Everything they say in the description of this tea is spot-on. It has a toasty background flavor without overpowering the basic green tea flavor. It doesn't run to fishy or soapy flavors, as many greens I have tasted tend to. This will definitely be a staple tea for me.
Slightly grassy with a buttery aftertaste. I like it.
I really enjoyed the dragon well tea. it is a golden color brew with a nice sweet aftertaste.
Im not the biggest fan of really grassy greens, but this one is ok. It pairs well with a good meal.
Delicate and buttery with a nice green flavor! It infuses at least twice. I don't find it to be very vegetal, and it has more of a toasty flavor.
Dragonwell has always been a favorite of mine and it's refreshing taste soothes the soul with excellent flavor.
This is a nice green tea, not too temperamental (doesn't get bitter if the water is slightly too hot). Very good everyday tea!
This is a very good green tea, there was nothing about the flavor that I disliked.
It's taste is pretty unrivaled to the other green teas I've tried on here. It's my new favorite, with it's nutty taste.
This is a great tasting and pleasing green tea, my new fav!
I thought this tea was very difficult to get right when it came to brewing. Only once did I somehow manage to get a cup that I thought was a nicely flavored tea, if a bit subtle. Other than that, I never seemed to get it right. Most of the time, I thought it was too subtle and so then I would brew it differently and then I found it too grassy and bitter. I think this one's too finicky for me!
Straight to the point/classic dragonwell. Not much to comment on. I like the palate and body of this dragonwell. I get somewhat peppery tones and it's a great 'get the day going' tea.
Great tea that has a nice grassy nutty flavor, highly recommend.
A very nice basic tea. No frills, just great flavor. I would highly recommend this to any tea lover.
This is my favorite green tea on here. It has a strong flavor and it is satisfying.
Nice aroma and smooth feel in the mouth. Lemon taste that rounds out in the middle snd lingers with a touch of apricot. Good tea, complex enough to be interesting.
Nice rounded sweet buttery flavor if prepared right. I couldn't give this one 5 stars because it's a little expensive.
Another classic Chinese green tea, fairly distinctive in nature. While the master's version (Zhejiang Lung Ching) is clearly a higher grade, the tea is not 5x better, at least when it comes to price.
A really enjoyable cup of tea. This is the green tea that I have been looking for, refreshing and lacking the grass trimming taste of some other greens.
Frankly, this wasn't 'green tea' enough for me to get to the love it level. I'm stuck at like it. I think it's the heating process. Of COURSE that changes the flavour and characteristics of a tea. I expected that it would. It just didn't change it in a direction I enjoyed as much as a straight green tea.
Heating it seems to banish a lot of the grassy flavour I love from a green. That said it still had a green tea flavour to it only with a roasted flavour. That isn't bad, just not to my tastes. It's very smooth with scarcely any astringency. I find it to be perfectly enjoyable but only very rarely. However, I add it to my Cocomint Green to cut some of the overbearing chocolate peppermint taste and find that combination to work really well.
Dragonwell has a very traditional and well rounded flavour. It's earthy and smooth and stands up well to multiple brews. The price is far from unreasonable for such a high quality tea.
Very good tea with a distinct taste which I think every tea drinker should try. It was a good quality green tea which I felt very relaxed after consuming.
