Another blending staple, it smells like I inhaled a bottle of vanilla extract, and tastes to me like cookies. One of the few teas I'll put sugar or milk in, but it's like vanilla ice cream (except hot, LOL)
For reasons I'll never understand, people tend to perceive vanilla as plain, or lacking in flavour. Even the term 'vanilla' is synonymous with banal flavour. I disagree.
To me, chocolate (which I do love as well) is far more likely to be cloying and expected. It's rich and sweet and in the right thing, can be amazing, but even then, it is so strong that it tends to overpower everything else with it. Vanilla is more subtle- it's a whisper and it's fleeting, and it makes you double back and really focus on it when you think you've caught a taste or a trail of it's scent. At times, it can be warm and comforting and sweet. at others, it can be airy and graceful and exotic. It can stand alone, and it can be blended. delicate enough to compliment other flavors without ever concealing them in it's own wake.
The problem is, b/c of it' subtlety, it lends itself to being overdone and it's sweetness can be exacerbated. This seems to happen a lot with teas, and I have seldom found a vanilla flavored teat that has become a stalwart tea in my collection.
Fortunately, Adagio changed that.
Adagio's vanilla is very subtle, and never overtly sweet. I use it to blend with so many other flavours, and it never disappoints or misses the mark. It's a perfect tea to make a gift of, as it is a universally loved flavor, and as a personal supply, it's an absolute necessity. something you want to always have on the shelf, b/c there are so many ways to use it. I love it with Adagio's almond tea, particularly, b/c both are such soft and gentle tastes, they are difficult to blend to with others and not get lost in the blend- but together, they just work. I also like to use it with stronger flavors, particularly as a middle note in a blend that has two strong flavors together. It's like a buffer and even things out with a smooth, creamy, milk like after taste.
The only down side is that it can be too subtle- after a week or so, it loses much of it's aroma, and I tend to forget it's there as a stand alone tea to drink. Again, I know there's a very fine line between subtle and over-doing it though, so I commend Adagio for managing to stay in the subtler end of things. Perhaps a bit of vanilla bean would more.
Adagio's vanilla doesn't seem to bitter up as much as some of the other flavors. I usually brew my black teas with water that has just cooled from the boiling point, and for 2 to 3 minutes, max- this creates a perfect balance to me. I have however, gotten sidetracked while brewing a cup, and ended up forgetting to remove the tea for 4 or 5 minutes, and despite that, it did not become so bitter or dry that that I tossed it and started over- so depending on your general preferences, you might want to start with 3 minutes, and work your way up from there if you'd like it stronger.

This tea is perfect on its own and in blends. It's very comforting and like drinking a hug.
This was not my favorite tea. I'm not sure why but I didn't like the smell of it too much. It was fine brewed, but nothing special to me. Regardless, I have enjoyed teas with this blended in it and they are some of my favorites! So I would vote this as one to include in a blend, but not my favorite on its own!
Very good by itself, with ceylon sonata, and with both ceylon sonata and berry blues (the Dr. Horrible blend).

Smelled great when I opened the pouch, but the vanilla flavor was much more subtle than I expected. I enjoyed it though, it was a good cup of tea.

This might be a sort of limited review review because I've never had this tea on it's own--only as an addition in different cold brews. It goes really well with flavored blacks (I've added it to strawberry and summer rose), imbuing a kind of light cream soda flavor. Lovely, and highly recommended.
Very nice and cozy. Simple, but very good when paired up with other teas like pumpkin spice and even my hazelnut tasted nice. I'm thinking of trying it with currant too. It is just a very nice very blendable tea. Harmless and kinda forgettable on its own, but good in mixing!
As others have mentioned the vanilla flavor is a little weaker than I expected, but it's still a great cup of tea. The warm vanilla scent permeates each sip. It also doesn't need much sweetner, which is an added bonus.
This tea is okay by itself but I prefer to drink it mixed in with other teas to give them a bit of flavor. This is a great mixing tea but doesn't stand well on its own.
Kind of bland, really. It'd probably be good mixed with another flavour, but on its own, it's nothing special. I got it as a free sample, though, so I can't really complain.
Pairs well with the cranberry. I've also mixed it with pumpkin spice. The flavor is not overpowering, but noticeable.

I love to use the vanilla to mix with other teas to make my own blends. Seems like vanilla really could be blended with a lot of different teas and it is always fun to discover a new blend to mix on my own.
It's about what you would expect. If you want black tea with a hint of vanilla, then go for it! You already know whether or not you want it.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that this vanilla tea on its own is fairly good - I only bought it in order to make blends using it, and hadn't even considered drinking it alone. Not too overpoweringly sweet, and genuinely tastes like vanilla. Very good when blended with other teas, such as strawberry, or raspberry.
Not my favorite on its own but great to add something extra to other black teas such as earl grey bravo, irish breakfast, or candy cane. Be careful not to overbrew.
A very good mix-in tea. I add it to chocolate, strawberry, coconut and almond to make wonderful mixes.
This tea is great! It smells sweet and with some sugar it tastes like a sugar cookie.
Oh my god the smell alone makes this tea worth buying. I'm almost tempted to sprinkle it anywhere in my house I would need an air freshener as just a small amount smells so strongly. The flavor is not nearly as strong, just a nice hint of vanilla added to your cup. I usually add a bit of sugar to my tea anyway so it makes a very nice flavor combination.
Really, what can be wrong about vanilla tea? It and cream are my go-to teas to sweeten up a blend.
Not much actual Vanilla flavor which was disappointing so i mixed it with a few other teas which made it better.
It is, what it is! :P Vanilla by itself is a little boring - but I use this blend in combination with other flavors especially fruity herbals and the flavor really compliments and in some cases tones down the herbal making them a little more bearable for my palate anyway. .)
What a wonderful flavor!! I loved how it smelled so lovely in the bag, but when brewed with just a touch of sugar (didn't need much because the vanilla flavor is sweet), it was even better!
Though I like this tea, I prefer the cream and will probably not order it again.
Leaf has a lovely aroma, but the actual tea retains little of the vanilla aroma or flavor. If you enjoy a subtle touch of something more with your ceylon, this may be a good choice. I've found it goes well in blends as well.
Smooth and delicious, this is a wonderful tea for blending, as it adds a slight sweetness to anything you blend it with. I have yet to try it on its own but I cant wait!
I ordered a sample of this hoping for a nice pure vanilla flavor but unfortunately it was so unnatural tasting and strong that I couldn't finish the cup. This was the first vanilla tea I've tried so maybe it's just me but it was just too strange and overwhelming and would need a lot more honey or sugar than I would want to put in to drink it.
In the bag it has a very strong vanilla smell, with some sugary undertones that make it smell very sweet. Once brewed, the taste is just a nice smooth vanilla that seems like it will be great blended with other flavors.
I love vanilla tea, and this one is nice - not overly strong or icky-sweet, nicely flavored, with the vanilla flavor not overpowering the basic black tea flavoring. It's nice by itself, or mixed with cream tea if you want something a little sweeter (and actually makes a nice base for mixing with pretty much anything. I particularly recommend the peach or apricot.)

This is a good tea. I was slightly worried that the vanilla would be too cloying, but it actually tastes natural instead of the chemical based fake vanilla I was expecting.
Like many others have said, I primarily drink this tea blended with another. So far I've had it mixed with wild strawberry and it was delicious! Planning on using it in some of my future blends!
A happy, extremely sweet scent and a pleasantly subdued vanilla tea. It's sweet enough that I could definitely drink it black, but certainly not cloyingly so.
The Honeybush Vanilla is slightly sweeter and more smoothing, and I slightly prefer it to the Vanilla black tea.
I use this tea mainly for mixing, I was expecting it to be sweet like the cream tea, but it just didn't live up to my expectations.
