This tea taste like a chocolate candy straight out of a box of chocolates. Perfect for Valentine's day. Yum!
I absolutely loved this blend! It smelled and tasted just like a chocolate covered strawberry. I usually don't add any sweeteners to my tea, but strawberry teas just seem to taste better with a splash of blue agave syrup. The tea was a tiny bit bitter at first before I added the blue agave syrup. After adding the blue agave the whole tea transformed into an overwhelmingly delicious cup of tea. Perfect blend for any day to enjoy by yourself or to share. I poured it straight over ice and enjoyed every sip. It was cold and refreshing! After pouring the tea over ice, It is fun and so delicious to pour a cold can of Orange Tang into the cup! If you add the Orange Tang no need to add any sweetener. I plan to keep a large bag on hand for my guests that love chocolate covered strawberries and an Orange Tang just in case! Great blend Adagio! 3 min @ 200
2/23 Oh yum. Really enjoying this chocolate covered strawberry creamy blend. Maybe I did abetter job steeping it or the base tea is a little different this year. Anyway it is delicious!
2/22This tea had a lovely chocolate, rose and strawberry aroma while steeping. Chocolate flavor and strawberry flavors came together nicely with a hint of rose. I was disappointed with the strawberry flavor it had an unpleasant aftertaste for me. I saw previous reviews and chose to steep at a lower temperature, yet my cup turned out a little too bitter for my liking.
I'd say that this tea is just about everything you would expect for Valentine's in tea form. Per the other reviews, I added a little sugar to help bring out the flavors. The rose was strong when I opened the packet, but mellowed out a lot when brewed. The chocolate and strawberry were the most prominent, but neither were overpowering, and the strawberry itself wasn't identifiable as strawberry
but more of a generic berry flavor. That said, I really liked this tea! I think though the flavors were subtle, they worked to really bring a feeling of valentines day in a cup of tea!
The Valentine's Day tea was enjoyable. It reminded me of chocolate covered strawberries. It wasn't my favorite of the fruity teas that I have tried but still enjoyable
Subtle dark chocolate and strawberry notes complement a lightly bitter black tea. I would have preferred bolder flavors, but as is, it's an enjoyable cup.
One of my new favorites! This was an amazing flavor all the way through.
Out of the packet, you can really smell the delicious aroma of the dark chocolate and strawberries.
Enjoyed with a little bit of sugar and the flavors were even more amazing. This was great hot and cold!
This tea sounds great but I can't do strawberry flavoring.
I imagine this blend could entice nearly any sweetheart. It’s sweet, fruity, and a little bit floral with just the right hint of dark chocolate. The dry leaves greet the nose with a heady, candy-sweet aroma of chocolate and strawberry. Once brewed, fruity notes that, to me, don’t exactly taste like strawberry (hence the four stars) come through on a lighter-than-expected base of subtle chocolate notes. There’s a floral component, but the rose is not overwhelming. This is light and pleasant, and though I wouldn’t make it a go-to tea, I would be pleased if I received this from my Valentine. (3-4 minutes @ 200F)
CommuniTea Review: I think this could be better... allowing for the fact that I have Covid and bronchitis and my senses are impaired, I still think that choosing artificial strawberry flavor over real strawberries is always a questionable choice. It tastes artificial. When the real strawberries fail to make an appearance, one then questions why then are included at all. Similar comments on the chocolate chips. This may have been an unbalanced CommuniTea packet, so I will have to withhold final judgement on this blend. Nonetheless, the overall blend is appealing in a light, romantic manner. Fruity and light chocolate flavors. If you prefer stronger teas, this won't be your favorite, but might be a nice V-Day treat
When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, I was met with the sweet aromas of chocolate and strawberries. I steeped the tea for about 3 minutes to make sure it didn't get bitter. The chocolate and strawberry flavor balances nicely with the robust Ceylon tea. A lovely cup of tea for Valentine's Day!
A year round treat..But especially magickal in the Season of ❤️. Well Blended, not overly chocolate-y. A perfect blend of Black Tea, Rose, Strawberry & Dark Chocolate. 'Tis Real nice with your fav additive to enhance flavors within, ie., Crystal rock Sugar and Crèmé!
Romance comes in all different flavors and this one is dark, bold and a touch bittersweet. Cocoa nibs intensify the black tea flavor. The strawberry is light and adds a tangy undertone and the roses add a visual touch of whimsy. If you prefer the lighter side of romance, cream and sugar could get you there. Love is love, so happy sipping whatever your style of romance!
Out of the bag, you’re hit with a strong chocolate scent. Brewed, the scent is more subdued, as expected. The taste is a light chocolate-strawberry that is very enjoyable. Great choice for Valentine’s Day!
This is a really nice black tea. The strawberry is the most prominent flavor after the tea. The cocoa comes through a little but makes it taste a bit bitter (which I don't mind).
I like the flavor and aroma of this tea. It does not have a bold chocolate or strawberry flavor, but the subtle tastes are very nice.
A gentle chocolate-strawberry flavor with a lovely rose scent - very charming! The Ceylon comes out more as it cools, making an overall pleasant cup.
My packet did not contain many strawberry pieces, so I don't think I got the full effect of chocolate covered strawberries, But I did get chocolate, and I love chocolate, so the tea was still enjoyable. The cocoa nibs burst through the black tea. I think this tea is even better on the cool down.
In the bag: Mainly the brittle black leaves of ceylon. A few rose petals ranging from large to tiny and from dark pink to a pinkish yellow. No cocoa nibs, chocolate chips, or strawberry bits.
On the nose (pre-steep): Smells exactly like a strawberry covered in sweet milk chocolate. Rose might be here as well but it's hard to distinguish from the berry.
On the nose (post-steep): Milk chocolate and strawberry made it past the steep but are now secondary flavors. The unsweetened cocoa of ceylon has come to the fore. We also lost the sugar from the prior scent.
On the tongue (pre-sweetener): I get even less milk chocolate and strawberry now than I did with the pre-steep scent. The flavor here is mainly ceylon. A bit bitter. No sweetness.
On the tongue (post-sweetener): Strawberry is a touch stronger. No other changes.
Opinion: A decent tea, pleasant enough to drink but failing its potential. I wanted more secondary flavors in the taste. Note that I love flavor-bomb blacks and my opinion reflects those preferences.
Preparation: First steep 3 min, second steep 6 min. Both @ 195 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener
Romance in a cup, as advertised. It truly does smell and taste like chocolate-covered strawberries. There's a light floral note to it, but not perfumy at all. Steeped for 2.5 min at 195º.
2/14/23 - This year's communiTEA sample was so much better! The Ceylon tea is no longer so bitter and astringent and allows the chocolate flavor to come through. I didn't taste much strawberry, but suspect that would come out more if it was sweetened. Had a light rose aroma which was nice. Definitely a much better tea!
2/14/21 - Sadly this didn't live up to my expectations of a cup of Valentine love. I brewed it at 195 to try to temper the bitterness of the Ceylon base tea but only partially succeeded. It was still quite bitter with a lot of astringency too. The chocolate aroma and flavor was very nice though! Strawberry flavors were ok, but didn't taste real. A nice combination, but didn't come together as nicely as I had hoped.
Valentines
Recommended Steep 212°F for 3 minutes. I steeped at 212°F for 3 minutes in approximately 11 oz of water with 1.5 tsp of Adagio tea/rock sugar.
I have to be honest, I was a little concerned about this blend. I needn’t have been. It was quite good.
Upon opening the packet, the aroma was very sweet, though I could not place it. Once steeped and sweetened, it was a very pleasant cup, maybe not one of my go-tos, but certainly enjoyable, and it got even better as it cooled. It did have a rather strong after taste of roses, that was a tad off-putting, but that may have been my CT packet. Although I would most likely not purchase this tea, I did like it. 3.75 stars from me.
This tea reminds me of melted neopolitin ice cream, it was very good, I wish I had used less water to make it a stronger cup.
Very nice; really tasted and smelled like a chocolate covered strawberry.
UPDATED from 2/14/21: Warm smell of dark chocolate hits my nose as the CommuniTEA packet opens. The dark tea leaves and rose petals open during steeping (at slightly lower temp) to create a gorgeous scarlet red liquid, with a floral aroma. This is full figured Aphrodite in spiked red heels, with a bit of a bite. She exudes rich, dark chocolate and gives me a light kiss of strawberry as she heads to the astringent finish. Adding ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) and a little heavy whipping cream brings out her sweeter, more playful side. The second steep reveals that the rose petals are weakening, as the color is cloudy and less red. She has taken off her heels, but she is still sumptuous, and her bite is now soft and creamy. Strong still is her luscious dark chocolate, which warms my heart and lingers as a loving kiss. This is the perfect tea for celebrating “...and the greatest of these is love.” ( 3 mins @ 200ºF + sweetener and cream).
Haven’t tried this yet but the ingredients sound like the blend of ingredients in David’s tea love tea #7, fingers crossed!
This was a surprising good cup of tea. It's a new family favorite. The kids thought it tasted like chocolate covered strawberries! In fact, it makes an excellent latte! It's a satisfying, guilt-free cup of chocolate deliciousness!
This tea is a delicious blend of strawberry, chocolate, black tea, and rose petals. I am not usually a fan of chocolate in tea, but the combination with the strawberries is delicious. I like it as an after work pick-me-up with a little honey and a dash of milk or cream. This is not a tea that I would drink every day but drink it once a week or so when I'm in the mood for a fruity treat.
I wanted to allow this tea to steep for a good long time, to allow the flavors to meld with one another, but again, did not want to scorch my tea leaves, by steeping at 212°F. I have to admit that the aroma of the tea, in the pouch, was much stronger than the aroma, of the actual steeped tea. But the flavor was nice and strong, and reminded me very much of fresh chocolate dipped strawberries. I highly recommend this blend for anyone looking for a 'romantic' tea, to share for Valentine's Day, or for a milestone anniversary in any relationship(unless your significant other has an allergy to strawberries)! Happy Sipping!
I have had this tea before and loved it. I decided to get it again. It is still yummy. I think it is had been my standard for chocolate strawberry teas; I have yet to find a noncaffeinated tea that tastes the same.
I think the combination of this blend work very well! The taste of rose petals might be a hit or miss for some people so it might be difficult for some to drink it on it's own,so the chocolate and strawberry bring it a good balance here!If you ever tried something like chocolate bars with roses pieces in it,you might have an idea of what to expect!
This tea is Valentines in a cup! While many Valentines teas are heavy on the flavor of roses, Adagio’s really brings forward a strong chocolate strawberry flavor that screams decadence. Highly recommend year round!
This is one of my all-time favorite teas. There's a smooth balance of chocolate and strawberry that tastes like dessert in a cup! I prefer to drink it in the afternoon when I'm craving something sweet. It really hits the spot!
Be mine! This delicious tea is the perfect blend of strawberry and chocolate balanced with black tea. Yum!
Chocolate covered strawberries with a hint of rose. Definitely one of my favorites and the reason I am here today. Ordering more in time for the holiday.
I LOVE THIS BLACK TEA. This is definitely my favorite black tea from Adagio. It really does taste and smell like chocolate covered strawberries. It's incredible for when you are craving dessert.
I loved the strong smell of freeze-dried strawberries as I opened up the bag. I can taste a bit of the rose petals, too, but I'm happy to say the strawberries come out on top, with just a hint of chocolate.
This tea is pretty good, the only thing I didn't love about it, is that it didn't taste very strawberry-y
This one is really nice! The chocolate and strawberry are well-balanced.
lovely and decadent, perfect when you want something sweet and indulgent! I followed the steeping suggestion, did 1 1/2 tsp for a 16 oz mug, gotta go back for more of this!
Not usually a chocolate person but this is delicious and not overly sweet
This delicious tea steeps deep brown.
It is often difficult to combine two flavors in one tea while making each of the flavors stand out and compliment each other. This combination of dark chocolate and strawberry successfully achieves this.
This has long been one of my favorite teas. It tastes amazing when combined with the hazelnut tea.
I was a little disappointed in this tea. It is supposed to have chocolate and strawberry notes to it. I didn't taste any of this, even when I put a touch of sugar in the tea. Might try it again with some kind of creamer and update the review
If chocolate- covered strawberries were a tea! I was pleasantly surprised at how little rose came through in the taste and smell (not much of a rose fan). It'd definitely be good with milk and sugar!
Valentines hot tea is so good the longer you let it seep the more strawberry flavor comes out w/ a bit of chocolate.
One of my favourite black teas. I do seem to have a little trouble getting the amount of sugar, milk, and tea just right, but when I do it's a cup of perfection. When I don't, it's still a nice cup of tea and solid choice in the morning rather than coffee.
Adagio really does dessert tea well. Lots of good strawberry and chocolate--more milk than dark. Still plenty of good black tea taste. I will be getting this one year round.
Nice tea. I tasted more chocolate than strawberry, which was a little disappointing as the tea smelled so strong of strawberry.
This is my all-time favorite teas. I'm so glad that it's no longer seasonal. You can smell the chocolate from the moment you open the bag, and you can see the pieces of strawberry. If I could only have one tea, it would be this one.
