Kiddo loves this tea! I used this to try to make a suntea (Sweet tea) for her and she absolutely loves it!

★★★★☆

I actually really enjoyed this tea, even though I'm adverse to roses in tea. This one was very well balanced, with a gentle waft of rose at the back of my palate, and not even remotely like stale pot pourri like I expected. The tea felt delicate and graceful.

I really enjoy rose flavored things so this was right up my alley. The Rose was subtle and flowery and quite delightful.

This is really more like a 2.5 stars for me. I am not a lover of rose in my tea; however, this was not as bad as I was expecting. The floral aroma and taste were more mild than I was expecting. It even seemed less floral than some of the blends with rose in them. I did not go back for a second steep and I would not purposefully seek this out, but I did manage to drink a full cup. I love black tea and like floral teas so this was a hit for me. I like it best with cream as it smooths and blends the flavors.

Hours after trying this tea as a CommuniTea sample, I am still trying to figure out how I feel about it. Some sips, it was like drinking a strong perfume or soap, other sips were beyond lovely, light and floral. I feel like I am plucking petals from a rose... I love it, I love it not, I love it. In the end, I will say that this tea is definitely a rose tea and I am interested to play with it as I think this could become a favorite with a little experimentation to find the right brewing combo.

The floral notes from the rose are not overwhelming, allowing the flavor of the tea to exist just a strongly. It doesn't make the same error as other rose infused teas I've tried. It doesn't taste like a perfume bottle in a cup!

I love rose tea so I am a fan of Summer Rose. That said, I wish it were a little more rosey and a little less tempermental with the bitterness. If you prefer a solid but not overpowering rose tea, this should hit the mark cleanly.

I give this 2 stars because I know I don't like rose in my drinks

★★★☆☆

It was definitely not as cloying as most rose teas are, however, I'm simply not a fan of rose teas.

A funny story about this one: I hesitantly asked my cousin Peggy to order me three or four ounces of this tea as well as Citron Green when I was really short of money. I thought it sounded so romantic to be sipping Summer Rose… She said, well three ounces isn’t very much, and I said , oh it will be fine. She then asked what my daughters favorite tea was and I said it was Jasmine Phoenix Pearls, and she said, oh that’s kind of expensive, and I just chuckled and said yeah.

I was very surprised to receive a large box later that week from Adagio with three pounds of tea! I loved my two, but unfortunately, couldn’t review them because technically I hadn’t ordered them. I so glad to be finally able to speak up!

I had read a really good tip from someone who had reviewed Summer Rose before that the tea is much better when blended with Cream black tea (I think it might have been Julie who posted it) and so I persuaded my brother to order a small bag of the Cream and I’m glad I did… Delicious!!!

About my brother’s order for me: I had the money at that point so I paid him back for ordering a number of things, including my CommuniTEA subscription for this month. I had a real problem getting the company to let me use it and write reviews, but we finally sorted it out about the sixth or seventh of the month ( after I unfortunately missed reviewing the wonderful Hamilton Tea: Thomas Jefferson).

Now though, it looks like this may be my last month in the group until I get more money to once again subscribe.

Anyway, back to the subject—I really love this tea, especially with the Cream Tea blended in. It would probably also be good with regular cream. Of course, I use my regular Splenda.

I enjoyed my CommuniTEA packet chilled after a long summer walk. I steeped at 195F for 3 minutes, added Stevia Monk Fruit blend, and allowed to cool in the fridge. The rose flavor was subtle and tasted lovely with the black tea. This has become my favorite rose black tea. It is delicate and enjoyable. Happy sipping!

This tea surprised me! I wasn't sure that I would like a rose-scented tea, especially after the overwhelming aroma when opening my CommuniTEA packet. But I steeped 1/2 packet of tea in 8 oz of water that was below boiling for 2 minutes. I sweetened with 1/2 tsp raw sugar. No bitterness or astringency noted, and only a subtle hint of rose. Tea with an air of sophistication that transported me to afternoon tea in an English rose garden! Resteeped x1, then enjoyed 2 steeps from the other half of the packet. I think it would be especially good blended with vanilla or cream tea.

While I've enjoyed this tea before got and I was, today I was struck by the decision to make it a milk tea, and it's fantastic! Brewed 3mins/212/lightly sweetened. I let this sit in the fridge for a few hours before combining with my favorite coconut milk and ice. Truly a sip of heaven!

I’m sure this is a perfectly fine cup of tea if you like the smell of roses, but I found the aroma overpowering

I can't believe how sweet today's tea was without any additions! The rosy floweriness was definitely the star of this show but I think anyone could be fooled into thinking there was a touch of honey added to my mug today. Much better than what I thought it would taste like, especially considering I thought the Ceylon might clash a bit with how strong rose can be.

This tea has a beautiful aroma. I think it's ok...just not really my cup of tea. I think it's the ceylon black that I don't like...seems bitter. I like rose in other blends...sometimes. Rose is just a hit or miss thing with me.

A summer staple in my cupboard. An honest Ceylon tea with rose petals that smell great together when the packet is opened. The aroma from a hot cup will make any rose lover smile. The taste is true, not cloying or saccharine. A little bit of honey is a nice addition, but not necessary. Also makes a great unsweetened or sweet iced tea.

It’s fun to finally sample this blend on its own. I added a double shot of half and half and a generous teaspoon of sugar and enjoyed a rich luxurious cup. The rose is a bit much on its own, but I’m learning to appreciate the elegance that a touch of rose brings to a cup of tea.

Strong floral aromas as I open up the packet have me a bit worried. It does brew into a nice cup of tea with a slight floral aroma. The Ceylon provides a nice malty base while rose lingers in the background. Added a touch of sugar which helps balance the flavors a bit more. Appropriate bitterness and astringency since ceylon is the base tea. Would recommend steeping at a lower temp and time. 195º for 3 mins. This would make a great tea to blend with other teas.

One of my first sample orders from Adagio, discovering Summer Rose in my CommuniTEA packet today, reminded me that I should finally review one of my mainstay teas.

Opening the packet, both vision and scent make clear that roses are the focus. Brewed, there's a floral taste that's akin but very different from jasmine - a decisive flavor for some; I heartily enjoy the rose taste.

On a day when I look at all my teas and can't make a decision, I default to this tea because it makes me happy.

I love the smell off roses! It's usually in any scent I wear or spray around the house. That being said, wasn't sure I would want it in my tea. Turns out it's not bad! The smell was amazing from packet to cup. The taste was just a tad too floral for me, but I think with a little tinkering I could make it work. Would definitely try again!

I love anything with rose flavor! The has a strong rose scent and a slightly more subtle rose taste. I sweetened mine with some sugar before drinking. I wouldn't recommend this tea if you don't like floral flavors.

I steeped this tea at 212F for 3 minutes.

Floral aromas blossomed out of today's packet as I tried to guess what tea this was. It turns out I guessed 'Rose' correctly! A quick 3 minute steep at 212°F produced a mellow orange brown tea liquor.

The rose aromas continued to rise up from the steaming cup. When it cooled enough to sip, I noticed the flower petals had infused some different flavor components into the tea. First, there was the distinct floral rose aroma. These aromatics are best sensed when slurping and using retronasal breathing. Next, there is another bitter flavor component.
This second slightly bitter and subtle addition on top of the black tea tannins is the 'first impression' when sipped normally. The finish also had an extra layer of astringency on top of the already dry Ceylon black tea. This one would probably benefit from a lighter steep temp & time in order to tame down those extra brisk flavor components. The most floral aromas and flavors were definitely released when the tea was still lukewarm to hot and sensed most easily while slurping heavily. As the tea cools, those volatile floral components stay hidden within the liquid.

Overall this is a nice tea to sip contemplatively while sitting by a rose bush and wondering about its' complicated biochemistry. I didn't try this one iced because I expected the floral rose to become muted and hidden amidst the brisk and bitter flavors. Despite the hot summer day, it was still a nice invigorating tea to drink outside.

I don't know what this was supposed to even taste like. It didn't taste good at all. It tasted like black tea. And not woody rich like Irish breakfast. This was just bad.

Floral teas are not usually something that I gravitate to, but was willing to give this a try. The packet does smell of roses but not overpowering. I brewed at a slightly lower temp 195 for 3 minutes. I enjoyed this tea and got 3 wonderful steeps out of it. It kept me 'caffeinated' through my busy morning. Not sure I would buy this but I would drink it again.

I greatly dislike the flavor of rose, but gave it a try just the same. For someone who hates rose, it was bearable. It tasted and smelled like a true rose, nothing cloying or artificial - I'll give it that. Also, it balanced well with the flavor of the tea. This will probably be a big hit for those who actually like the flavor.

I was prepared to HATE this tea because I don't love floral teas. I was expecting a heavy, potpourri-scented cup. Well slap my face and call me Mary, this tea is good! One of the many reasons I'm thankful for the CommuniTEA boxes. I'd never have tried this otherwise. I followed the advice of reviewer-guru extraordinaire Jim R and steeped this somewhere between 200-212ish degrees for 3 minutes.

Strong perfumey rose flavor, still good (if a bit less strong) for a second steeping. This one is strong enough that it was a bit of an acquired taste, but once I acquired it, I've really enjoyed it!

I brewed this tea based on the notes in some other reviews and this tea is smooth and drinkable. Considering I really don’t like rose scent or taste, that is an accomplishment. (2 mins @ 200°F, 1 tsp tea to 12 oz water)

'That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet; / So [Summer Rose] would, were [it] not [Summer Rose] call'd, / Retain that dear perfection which [it] owes / Without that title.' Too much? Perhaps so. Rose is easily overdone. Yet, Summer Rose makes an excellent tea. A lovely rose aroma wafts from the dry leaves, and the brewed tea smells much the same, though more subdued. The aroma foreshadows the flavor of the tea. It’s a rich Ceylon with a fresh, clean lift from the floral rose notes. Though not exactly subtle, rose flavors do not overpower. This blend is rose done well. (3-4 minutes @ 200°F)

I'm always a bit shy of flavored black teas; they usually leave me disappointed and don't deliver what was advertised. But hold the phone, Summer Rose is here! Rose can go sideways, ending up too soapy tasting, but I loved its application in this tea. It was just right! The Ceylon wasn't bitter and the rose accented it in a light, but noticeable way. I usually think milk is really essential for flavored blacks, but I liked this one unaltered. Now they just need to start making a decaf version of this for people like me! Happy Sipping!

Tasting along with the CommuniTEA today: Lots of strong rose fragrance wafting from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F (minimize tannins), I notice subtle rose and honey ceylon notes from my cup. When I take a sip, the rose takes a slight step back to allow the ceylon tea to be the star while whispering in the background and reminding of its presence reminiscent of a good quality Turkish delight on the finish.

CommuniTEA Sample: Not a huge floral tea fan, and of all the florals, rose is probably my least favorite. But, with that said, this isn't a bad tea. The Ceylon black does a decent job of balancing out the floral taste from the rose petals. I did finish the cup but probably won't steep a second one. Just not my cup of tea.

212 degrees for 2 minutes. Well, this tea surprised me. I didn't expect to like it, honestly. But the rose flavor is subtle and serene, not interfering with the crisp ceylon, but complimenting it. I feel very British drinking it, lol. Pinkies out.

20 Jul 2020 review: Most of the time, I brew black teas at 200F ... this one being no different. I also took reviewer Elizabeth R’s recommendation to add only 1 tsp of tea to my 12 oz cup instead of my usual 1-1/2 tsp to help lower any strong black flavors. Just to make sure, I saw rose petals and black tea in the bag with heavy duty rose aromas noted. I normally don’t like rose flavors in my tea. This was no exception. So I came into to this with a rose ‘tude, but gave it shot anyway. After steep and hot, the rose aromas and flavors mellowed some with pleasant black tea tastes noted. Today’s tea was definitely drinkable, but left lingering rose aftertastes in my mouth as the brew cooled to warm. If you like rose, you’ll love this one. For me, it’s a meh. (1 tsp tea, 3 mins @ 200F)

This tea has a strong rose flavor, and I understand why some find it too purfume-y. Luckily for me, I love rose flavored drinks and foods. I enjoy it by itself, with a little milk, or in blends, especially containing chocolate or strawberry. Must like rose to enjoy this tea!

This tea was really something quite phenomenal when I opened my Communitea pouch this morning. While, normally, I'm not a fan of rose in my teas, this one was a big hit for me.

From the bright citrusy notes of the Ceylon, as well as its chocolaty undertones and the fresh floral pop from the rose, the entire tea felt very well balanced and flavorful. As I sipped, you could taste the evolution of the tea from start to finish, with each note playing like sections of an orchestra coming together to create a masterpiece.

If you are a fan of Ceylon tea blends (like English breakfast teas) or lightly floral teas, this will be sure to hit every cord you are looking for. I brewed my tea at 212*f for 3 minutes and lightly sweetened.

I love floral teas, so I already had a predisposition to enjoy this tea. I find rose makes a black tea smoother without the addition of creme. That is true for the straight summer rose tea as well. Smooth, with a soft, floral taste and aroma. Bring it on all day!!
