This tea is absolutely immaculate. It smells amazing before you steep it and as a bourbon affectionnado I was surprised by how much it smells like a good bourbon. Steeped it's even better than it smells. I've tried it hot with no sugar—good. Cold with no sugar—okay. Hot with a teaspoon of sugar—great. Hot with a teaspoon of BROWN sugar? Absolutely incredible. It's probably one of the best, most full bodied teas I've had in a while. It unfolds a lot like actual bourbon without the burn. There's a nice earthy opening note before it unfurls into something resembling oak and maple. With the brown sugar it lingers in your mouth with a weighty but sweet tang. It has all the highlights of it's namesake.

Holy cow! This tea is amazing, not just because it tastes great, but it tastes like bourbon. Definitely going to be a new staple in my cupboard

Another favorite! A good pick me up in the morning with high caffeine!

I didn't care for the overall flavor even with honey. It tasted like I was licking the resin off a burned oak barrel.

I couldn't believe how much it smelled like bourbon when I opened the package! Was very excited to try it and was not disappointed, delicious

This is the first time brewing this tea. The tea leaves give off an amazing aroma, very similar or comparable to a white russian. The liquor is nice golden red, similar to a bourbon and the aroma is softer less sweet then the dry leaves. The initial taste is very good, on the exhale you taste exactly what you smell. The apple is noticeable but not in your face, the cocoa nibs add just enough bitterness needed without making the tea bitter. This is an excellent tea hot without cream or sugar.

Hot with cream, no sugar. The tea is amazing! Very sweet, looks like a white russian. Taste like a dessert. This is a slam dunk, will be purchasing again.

It should be noted I do not drink bourbon and cannot compare the the likeness to bourbon. This will be an excellent sweet tooth satisfer.

This tea seems to taste better without milk. I usually have my tea without milk and with sugar, but with the milk I found that it tasted more like apple than everything else. Without the milk, the tea is really flavorful and complex with a wonderful scent.

★★★★★

This is not a tea for the faint of heart. Although the dry tea leaves smell sweet, once brewed there is a predominantly smoky flavor. It’s quite unusual, but very enjoyable.

I do not drink alcoholic beverages so I have no idea if this tastes like Kentucky Bourbon but what I do know is that I love it!

Wow. This tea blew me away. Regardless of whether you are or are not a whiskey fan this is what I feel like good whiskey should taste like. Smokey and sweet with just enough of a punch of black tea to get you going. The first cup was a wild ride - the second one I was prepared and actually had it iced with some white chocolate Ice cream ... perfection.

Being in isolation. I am missing Disneyland and when I read this would make a good mint julep tea, I went for it. But I am not a whiskey drinker. If you like the taste of whisky you will love this. That said, the more I drank this the more it grew on me. I’m currently drinking hot. Will try iced later with mint infused sugar water.

Loved the slight taste of whiskey barrel. Very aromatic tea with full flavor.

Wow this is delicious. It reminds me of Adagio s seasonal Bonfire tea. My only wish is that Adagio makes a decaf version of this tea so I can send it along with Bonfire to a friend of mine who can t have caffeine anymore. I send her Bonfire every year and I d send her this too if I could.

★★★★★

I dislike drinking actual alcohol, but I like alcohol themed tea for some reason. It's a pretty strong tea.

★★★★☆

This tea is absolutely wonderful. The bourbon flavor is strong. I'd give it 5 stars if I didn't have to add anything to it, because it can be a tad bitter. However, a tad bit of milk and honey bring this tea to something dreamy, decadent and delicious.

Shockingly bourbon-y! But not TOO much so, which is important! I hope this becomes a staple at Adagio because it may be one of my new favorite teas!

★★★★★

I m in love with this Kentucky Bourbon tea! The hints of mineral from the keemun and smoke from the lapsang souchong really take this tea over the top. It was smart to go beyond the usual ceylon base used for other flavored blacks.

I admit I was uncertain about this one when I opened the bag. The smoke from the lapsang souchong was the strongest aroma, and I was worried the flavor would be too much. Sipping it, however, is a different story. I get a lot of cocoa flavor with a bit of fruitiness and just the slightest hint of smoke at the finish. It s a strange balance, and it doesn t seem like it should taste as good as it does, but I really like it. I ve never had bourbon, so I can t compare it to that, but it s great as a how tea. Not sure how the smoke will translate to iced, but I ll have to give it a shot.

To test out this tea, I brewed it strong with fresh mint leaves and then poured over ice to make a pseudo-mint julep. It's flavorful with smoky notes, and a good choice for a cold summer drink.

This one will definitely get your attention. Wow! Very full bodied and rich, not to mention dark. Almost as dark as coffee. This is a brew to do when you're needing some good strong tea to change your day around.

I should have realized that the smoky flavor wasn't going to be to my liking. It smelled delicious and definitely made me think of bourbon.

I love this one. The whiskey flavor really does come through. One could hypothetically make a pretty tasty hot toddy with this one

★★★★★

This tea was fantastic. The smokiness is unlike anything I've ever had. It's not as in your face as a real glass of bourbon, but the likeness in flavor is definitely there. Love this tea!

Smoky, savory, and yet a little sweet and spicy. A very complex and interesting tea! Every ingredient shines through on this delicious blend! It’s the perfect tea to drink by a campfire! Or perhaps warm you up on an autumn evening. Or even to relax and watch the derby. Great overall! But do be warned! The smoky flavor could turn people off!

It's kinda weird and I kinda like it. I'm not a bourbon drinker, but I was intrigued by this blend and wanted to give it a try. I like the cocoa notes and hint of smokiness.

Appearance: Very dark brown, close to opaque, small amount of powder in the cup.

Aroma: Blend of vanilla, caramel, smoke, cherry, that wax and wane on which one is most prevalent. More smoke heavy on the second steeping, but remainder of the notes still in the background.

Taste: Lightly sweet and smoky on the tip of the tongue, with a hint of astringency. The smoke becomes heavier while moving to the back of the tongue with toffee coming through. Dark cherry and vanilla shows in the swallow and lingers in the aftertaste. Interestingly on the second steeping the heavier smoke in the aroma does not translate to the flavor. The smokiness is more subdued and a slight pepperiness shows up on the tip of the tongue.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with an slightly oily mouthfeel. Oily mouthfeel mostly gone on second steeping.

Overall: I am impressed by how much this does resemble in aroma and flavor to a sweeter bourbon, minus the alcohol burn. I would like the pepper that shows up in the second steeping to come through in the first, but I also generally prefer spicier whiskies. An interesting flavored tea that many bourbon (or whiskey in general) lovers should enjoy.

I don t know how Adagio did it, but this tea tastes just like a bourbon cocktail I often get at one of my favorite restaurants. It s the perfect balance of smoky and sweet, and it really tastes like there s alcohol in this tea, even though there isn t. I m rating this four stars because while it was very good, I thought the flavor combination was a bit odd for a hot tea. Next time, I ll try it iced.

I was unsure of how this tea would taste but it is actually quite good.

★★★★★

I love this tea. Some teas seem to be 'missing something' but this tea has so much depth of flavor. The smokiness is just enough. Even if you don't like bourbon- try this for a great, smooth black tea.

★★★★★

This is literally my new favorite tea. The flavor is so delicious! I can taste the smoky notes of the aged Keemun richness with lapsang Souchong as it playfully blends with the strong candy apple and whiskey flavor! I can also taste the vanilla. I love my tea strong, so I let it steep for a couple minutes longer than I normally would. I recommend sitting and just smelling it as it cools. I feel this is one of adagio’s most creative teas. This is a real treat!

Somehow this tea evokes all the scents experienced while touring a bourbon distillery - the sweet smell of the fermenting grains in the mash tubs, and the wonderful aroma of the angel’s share lingering in the rackhouse. Smoky, woody, and sweet, this tea is excellent hot or iced. My next order will include a big bag for sharing.

This tea is a bit intense on flavoring (vs. tea taste, which I do usually expect from Adagio blends). Brewed hot, it tasted quite a bit like bourbon, and I had to keep my steeps short to avoid making it overpowering. However, as a cold-brew ice tea? *chef’s kiss* Smooth and woody. A surprisingly good substitute for actual alcohol. I will be ordering more. Held up for several steeps, too, maybe because of the shorter brew time.

This is a very smooth tea, almost bourbon like. I found it does need a bit of sweetness so I added a few rock sugar crystals and it's perfect. Only wish I had the Kentucky derby to watch now!

This is nothing short of perfection. Sultry and slightly smoky like your favorite bourbon bar. I received a sample of it with my previous order, and here I am two days later stocking up. It was a smash success with my husband too. If you like Adagio's seasonal Autumn Mist blend, give this a try.
