A very nice tasting tea, but one that doesn't have a serious hazelnut taste. Instead it has a roasted, smokey flavor more than a nutty or subtly sweet flavor. Although it's a good tea, it's not one of my favorites.

Update 6/12/23- TERRIBLE! This was my favorite tea and the last five bags that I received tasted nothing like hazelnut. It smells more like cream and has zero flavor. I I have been purchasing this for many years and this is the only time (and only flavor) that is awful. I also purchased several other flavors with this order and all of them are still fragrant and taste correct….This tea was recommended to me at the Naperville location a few years ago; I've been a fan ever since. It's an excellent substitute for anyone trying to reduce their coffee consumption or for anyone who just loves coffee. It has a very natural hazelnut flavor and is a great morning tea. I'm not big on taking the temp of the water- I just use really hot water and let it steep for several minutes.

Given how much I like other teas that incorporate hazelnut, I was curious to see how I'd feel about standalone hazelnut. Survey says: Pretty good! This one is nutty and a little sweet without being overwhelming. I think I still prefer the taste as part of a blend vs. on its own, but I'll definitely be keeping this one around.

I love the nut teas! This is a special tea you can’t easily get elsewhere! I’m glad Adagio has several nut teas. I love the strong bold flavor!

Nice flavor, if you are a hazelnut fan, I would highly recommend. I occasionally drink Mocha Nut Mate and Hazelnut has a similar taste to me.

When I first tried Hazelnut, I thought it was similar to Chestnut, however, it definitely has its own flavor profile. Very good flavor!

★★★★☆

I like this tea. It’s not very hazelnutty, but it’s good, with a bit of a sweetness.

Another one that was my favorite before, and a favorite now. While the weather might be heating up, I still love the warmth I feel with hazelnut.
When life is stressful, drink a cup of comfort.

I really like this tea. It's so good with a little honey and milk. The ideal flavor for chilly winter mornings.

I want this one on hand as a mixer, it’s amazing mixed with raja oolong chai and chocolate truffle.

This tea is great. The gentle hazlenut flavor is just right. I add sugar but warmed milk would also be a delicious combination.

One of my all time favorite teas. Nutty, delicious, equally savory and sweet, its both a great holiday tea, and just a solid winter-season tea. Made even better with a bit of melted chocolate mixed in.

★★★☆☆

It tastes ok — better with a little sweetener. I was excited for a nutty flavor, but it was more bitter than I hoped.

Hazelnut is one of My all-time favorite flavors. Be careful not to let it steep too long beyond the three minutes. It has a wonderfully nutty flavor, smells great, and isn’t too sweet.

If you like hazelnut, this is the one for you; it's my significant other's favorite flavor, and she gave this one a thumbs up. We'll be ordering more in the near future! As a side note, I tend to brew my black teas at a lower temperature to help with potential bitterness, and at 200 degrees F, the taste was on point.

It is so nutty !! I love the flavor and the strength is just perfect. The flavor is so so tasty and I'm thinking of experimenting some more with it.

This has an amazing nutty flavor without any sweetness or tasting fake.

I am a sucker for hazelnut. Hazelnut coffee, chocolate, etc. I love it all. This was a good black tea with strong hazelnut flavor. It was slightly smoky as well but I enjoyed that.

★★☆☆☆

I really expected the base of this tea to be a lot stronger. It's not full at all, it's actually pretty weak with heavy astringency. I've been experiencing this a lot with teas lately, it's as if the overall quality of black tea has gone down. I would have enjoyed it if it had been a lot fuller.

One of my all time favorites. Doesn't feel like the Holidays without it! A nice strong black tea with the wonderful taste and aroma of hazelnut. If you love hazelnut coffee creamer you absolutely MUST get this. Steeps nicely more than once, too.

Hazelnut is not my favorite flavor but it is definitely not the worst. I steeped at a lower temp of 195 F x 3 min to avoid bitterness. Sweetener and cream were added to create a nice dessert tea. For those who love hazelnut this must be a delightful tea.

CommuniTEA Update 2022-10-22:

Tasty toasty hazelnut made an appearance again today... A welcome surprise! Steeping at the recommended time & temp produced the familiar eponymously-colored hazelnut tea.

The brisk black tea introduced itself again, followed by the charmingly warm and toasty hazelnut. Just as I remembered it, it was like a cozy cup of nuttella-flavored tea, except without as much chocolate and sugar. I decided to stick with the plain tea this time and enjoyed the full pot plain.

Overall, a delicious hazelnut-filled black tea blend!

CommuniTEA Review: 2021-09-23:

Toasty hazelnut aromas drift up out of the packet as it opens. A quick 3 minute steep at 212ºF created a nice hazelnut colored tea.

A brisk black tea first says hello, followed by a lingering hazelnut flavor. The flavor has a nice cozy quality to it. Warm and perfectly toasty for these chilly autumn days.

Adding cream made it into a smooth hazelnut tea latte. Any sharp edges from the black tea tannins were rounded off, while keeping plenty of hazelnut front and center.

I think I actually like this one much better than the hazelnut honeybush blend. It's just enough hazelnut without becoming too overpowering.

Smells like hazelnut through all the tea process. The loose leafs are a pretty dark color. When brewed the color is a very dark amber. The taste is a strong hazelnut. I even put in a peppermint mocha coffee creamer that is normally overpowering. Yet, all I tasted was hazelnut. I liked becouse I do enjoy hazelnut.

Delicious flavor! It’d taste even better with a little honey and cream.

I have had this tea previously as part of the flavored tea black box. I can still say that it appears that I am not a real big hazelnut fan this time either.

CommuniTEA 10/22/22: as someone who enjoys hazelnuts but not hazelnut flavored things, I expected not to like this tea. Instead I was left with a delicious wonderful cup of tea! I think the difference in making this a good tea versus a great tea would be to have a slightly less stringent black tea as the base. Overall I highly recommend this if you enjoy hazelnuts, and add some sugar to bring out the nuttiness of the tea. Brewed at 2:10 for 3 minutes

I steeped at 200°F for 3 minutes and some change to deter any bitterness, and it resulted in a rich and delicious tea. A touch of agave helps to bring out the natural sweetness a little more and went along great with the nuttiness. This blends just as well into other teas, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it stand so well on its own, too.

I actually did not try it, I am allergic to nuts, and can't even stand the smell, so I gave it to a friend. Even if there is no actual nut product in it, I could not have handled the aroma. Sorry,

UPDATED 10-22-22: Today's CommuniTEA is Hazelnut (tea). Upon opening my packet, I had a fantastic amount of tea. The hazelnut is a flavoring, not a physical thing in the tea. I brewed it hot with some black tea honey and it was great! Very nice and sweet. I have had this tea quite a few times and even use it in some of my blends now because I've really grown to like it! I do not find it to be good with spicier additions, such as cardamom, cloves, cocoa nibs, and chocolate honey; however, less is more with this tea. Just some simple black tea honey can go a long way. I would highly recommend this tea!

ORIGINAL: I brewed my Hazelnut (flavored black tea) with some burdock and manuka honey. This is not a sweet hazelnut like what you might think of when you think of some popular coffee shops. This is real, natural hazelnut flavor. I am honestly thinking I probably should've used rock sugar instead of honey because it did not pick up the sweetness of the honey at all. I will have to play around with this tea more, but it's really not a bad flavor. I think I would recommend this one.

This tea was pretty nice. The hazelnut smell out of the CommuniTEA packet was really pleasant. My parents both adore hazelnut in their coffee and I immediately imagined they were in my kitchen visiting for the holidays. The hazelnut aroma is just as strong after a 2 minute steep, but the warm, rounded flavor doesn’t come out until the tea has cooled slightly. I tried this straight, with sugar, with oat milk, and on the second steep, mixed with Valentines. Definitely preferred it with sugar and with Valentines. I think mixed with the chocolate truffle, you’d get a great Nutella flavor.

I love the hazelnut flavor but I don't think I'm a fan of ceylon black tea.

I think the black tea astringency isn’t as good with hazelnut than actual coffee, but the astringency only really shows up in the aftertaste. So I’d say this tea is about 90% good.

Hazelnut isn't my favorite but I do enjoy it on occasion. This tea has a really nice hazelnut flavor that paired great with oat milk and a splash of vanilla! I do think that it does best in blends with other flavors, but it was surprisingly enjoyable alone.
