A classic combination. Smooth, deeply fruity currant flavor (similar to raisin) with bright Ceylon tea.

This is a nice strong black tea but I really don't get the fruit flavor. I love currants but they are not noticeable in this cup. I like teas that are a little bitter and astringent to wake up my taste buds in the morning.

Steeped at 212 degrees for 3 minutes. We found it sharply tannic and needed sugar to take the edge off. Not our cup of tea.

The taste of currants is dominant in this tea as to be expected. Not a fan of the aftertaste as it reminds me of having eaten a slice of berry pie and needing to drink a lighter tea to wash that down. Don't hate it, but don't really like it either.

Oh, I love this! I think currant may be one of those elusive 'forest berries' I keep hearing about and really enjoy. The dependable ceylon is a wonderful companion for these rich, chocolatey currants. Just seeing the word 'jammy' in the description makes me think of a cheerful breakfast in cozy pajamas with a slab of warm toast overfull with melty butter and mixed berry jam... which would go amazingly with this tea.

When you open the bag the raspberry comes through pretty strong. Once brewed you can still taste the raspberry but I always feel like the flavor of black tea overpowers all other flavors. One of the reasons I try to avoid black tea. I still enjoyed this cup, and I think I just need to add my own raspberries for bolder raspberry flavor

Barely any currant flavor to this, but a good black tea regardless. Murchie's makes an excellent currant tea if you are still looking!

Meh, this one is kind of boring. Couldn't really find the currant notes--still a solid black tea, but lacking in fruit flavor.

Best currant one I have had so far wish though there was more of a vanilla notes to it,I still love it though.

This tea is quickly a new favorite of mine. It smells absolutely wonderful and a naturally sweet taste with a hint of tart to keep it from being overwhelming.

This one was ok. I was hoping for a brighter tangier currant. This is mostly a black tea with a little berry flavor added.

Similar to the blueberry tea, the raspberry leaves in this seem to just overpower everything. It tastes less like blackcurrant and more like someone mixed a bit of currant jam into raspberry jam and made a tea out of it.

I took a chance on this one and was not at all disappointed. Absolutely delicious if you like a sweeter. more fruity black tea. I add a little (non) dairy to it and it just makes it nice and creamy.

Sorry, but I cannot taste currant, which was the whole point of this tea. Would be unlikely to order it again.

A really nice morning cup, or works great in blends. The currant flavouring might be a little sharp for some people, but I quite like it.

love this - did not know what to expect but loved it. It is one of my go to teas. So happy that I found this tea. It is a favorite.

Nice fruit flavor, cut back on brewing time to counteract black tea bitterness. Liked it better when mixed with cream and vanilla.

Definitely one of the best currant teas out there!

★★★★★

This tea is just a really good, smooth cup of relaxation at the end of a long hard day. I followed the instructions when steeping so no changes there. I love this one!

★★☆☆☆

This tea just tastes of black tea. Maybe my sample was from the bottom of the bag..? No currant or fruity tastes at all. I like the black tea, but definitely a let down. Doesn’t even smell of currant or fruit.

This is a wonderful full flavored tea.
A real treat In the afternoon when a break in the action is required.

This is a good tea with strong notes of currant. Holds up well to milk

Cozy tea for rainy spring days, also works well as an iced tea base.

★★★★☆

Fruity flavors are a real toss-up for me, so I was delighted to find one that's tasty! The currant/raspberry combo is really nice--not too sweet, not too sour.

My second favorite. Love the currant flavor. Steep for 3 minutes or more for more flavor.

★★★★★

Have been searching for a currant tea that tastes like my childhood. Adagio is the only one I've ever found that gets there.

This is a classic black tea. The sip is filled out by dry ceylon flavors with a pleasantly astringent and fruity aftertaste. The currant flavor is not particularly pronounced, but it was a good cup nonetheless.

Update: I brought this to work in my thermos with a bit of creamer, and the added sweetness and time for flavors to develop really let this tea shine. Currant flavors were strong and absolutely intoxicating - a perfect fruity breakfast tea! I would strongly recommend this one to someone who takes their tea to go, since the additional time for the flavors to develop was absolutely essential.

My understanding of currants is that they're like spicy grapes, so I brewed my Currant tea with some mango, orange peels, and fruit tisanes honey, and WOW! It's true!! This was like drinking a spiced fruit tea. It's definitely a new favorite of mine!!! I would highly recommend this tea!

Fruity and deep, this one is good and I do enjoy it, especially when mixing with cream black tea, but not my favorite.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this tea. I enjoy it quite a bit, especially with a little cream. It's well balanced for my tastes, with just enough curranty sweetness and tartness that are complimented well by the black tea.

I guess I am not a big fan of currant flavored tea. I like the fruit itself but this one just didn't do it for me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that impressive.

★★★☆☆

Kinda berry flavored, but I prefer the raspberry. If I tried it again I’d add a little honey to see if that brought out a little flavor and natural sweetness. It was almost a touch biter.

Today's CommuniTea packet was currant, made of black tea, currant flavor and raspberry leaves. It smells extremely fruity, both in the packet and when brewed, and I was concerned that I might find it too sweet. But the flavor didn't correlate with the scent. It tasted mainly of astringent black tea. Another tea that I like better in blends than on it's own, I think. Brewed in 12 ounces of 200 degree water for 3 minutes.

I followed the steeping instructions (3 min @ 212) and found that this turned out very bitter. I think a lower temp might yield better results but this was too bitter for me.

I found this one to just be ok for me. I didn't think I steeped it too long, but it was rather bitter.

I had high hopes for this tea when I read it described by one drinker as tasting like jam or jelly. I, unfortunately, did not care for this tea. I steeped it for 3 minutes at 190F to avoid astrigency. At first, all I could taste was a rather astringent ceylon. I decided to let the tea cool a bit to see if the flavour would mature a bit more. When I tasted it after it had cooled a bit, the raspberry had taken over all over flavours. The result was a bitter tea that left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. I dumped it after a few sips. The tea sugar did nothing to add any sweetness to the tea.
Some communiTEA members seemed to really enjoy this tea, so maybe I just don't care for the strong taste of raspberry in tea.

What a beautiful and bright cup of tea! The fruit flavors were just perfect with the black tea

Currant tea is…ok. I wish I’d had more control over the temperature to help tame the raspberry leaves. I have never had currants on their own, so I can’t accurately claim how well this tea mimics the flavor. As a tea, it’s a little bitter, but is basically a decent black Ceylon tea with nothing really standout about it

Tasted on 10 Jan 2022 via CommuniTEA. I didn’t get much in the way of fruity taste with this one, so I’m going to have to give it a “meh”, nothing special.

Berry black tea, strong with a decent flavor. Brewed at 195 for 4 minutes. No bitterness.

This tea smells pretty good in the packet. I tried brewing at a lower temp to avoid bitterness. This is a solid black tea but the currant flavor is faint.

Nothing to write home about this currant tea. lol The berry taste is very faint and 90 percent taste like ceylon black tea. I use milk and sweetener to bring out the currant flavor, really no luck on finding it. (this is what my tastebuds are telling me) lol.

I wish this one tasted like it smelled. Alas, there was no currant flavor to this tea. All I can taste is that raspberry leave and Ceylon combo, which I find bitter. This one’s not for me. 190° for 2 minutes.

this tea was delicious! the smell reminded me exactly of these chocolate covered raspberry jelly rings my family buys. once brewed, the smell gets a little duller but it still has a fruity tang. it doesn’t have that strong citrusy taste that i was expecting from a current flavor (red currents in particular) so i added a few rosehips and some orange peel and that definitely helped!

A nice high caffeine tea. The flavour of currants is balanced with the scent of raspberry leaves, making this nicely complex.

This is another one of those teas that I love in blends, and use in my own blends on a somewhat regular basis, but on its own it's just a bit... extra. So while I'll continue to appreciate and love it in blends, this won't be one that I'll ever buy and drink by itself.

As with all Ceylon-based teas, steeping at a lower temperature is a must. It worked beautifully with Currant, which steeped at 185 for 3 minutes yielded a smooth, slightly jammy cup with mild for distict currant flavor. At the lower temperature I had no bitterness from the raspberry leaves. I think I will add a sample of this to my next order to see if I can duplicate the very pleasant tea-sipping experience.
