I look forward to this tea eagerly every year! Best flavored tea :)
A great fall tea, warming flavor and light on the palate.
This is one of the few teas I’ve had from adagio that just didn’t jive with me. Hot, it smelled really tangy and alluring with a sort of spiced undertone… but tasting it was almost like a normal black tea with nothing really noteworthy otherwise. That’s fine, I thought, as a lot of adagio teas lose some of the fruit flavor when brewed hot but a bit of sugar will often bring that back to the foreground. Not for this cranberry tea, which tasted nearly the same. I’m also in the habit of then pouring cold water over my used leaves to do a second cup as a cold brew, but due to the 5 minute brew time and the 205°F water temp, everything the leaves had to give was used up in the first go. That second cup mostly tasted like water with a vague sort of slightly unidentifiably fruity scent. There didn’t seem to be much advantage to this tea versus a plain black tea, but maybe if I try it again I’ll cold brew it without ever hitting hot water and see if that changes my mind. It very frequently does.
Dry tea has a tart cranberry scent to it. Once brewed, the resulting cup is a medium brown that keeps the cranberry scent. When hot, mild fruity cranberry notes are noticeable. When warm, the tart cranberry is brightened by the Ceylon tea and a hint of bitter raspberry leaf helps to finish off the sip. There were no cranberries in my CommuniTEA packet, which I would imagine adds more of the cranberry flavor and tartness. However, this is a nice flavored black tea that is not too sweet or too tart. Brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.
While I do like this tea in blends, I just can't make myself like it on its own. Then again, I feel the same way about cranberries in general. But as an aside, I am absolutely madly in love with the Cranberry Nut Muffin tea! It is absolutely scrumptious!
I ended up really liking today’s CommuniTEA. I was hesitant because I assumed it was a Ceylon base. That along with raspberry leaves makes for a not so pleasant sip. I must of had little to no raspberry leaves because there was none of that bitter aftertaste with this cup. I was missing any cranberries but the lovely flavor was still there. This tea base was so much better than the usual Ceylon. I will definitely get more of this in the future to try with blending. I was able to avoid any bitterness with a much lower temp and shorter steep time. 190° for 2 minutes. No sweetener necessary.
Today's CommuniTea packet was cranberry tea, made of black tea, raspberry leaves, cranberry flavor and cranberries. I wasn't sure what I would think of this, based on the comments in the chat. It smelled and tasted slightly fruity, but I don't think I would have identified it as cranberry on my own. I also didn't notice any cranberry pieces in my packet, so that might make a difference too. Unlike some people, I generally like raspberry leaves, so was fine with that. I think I would have liked it with a shorter steep, though, maybe two and half minutes rather than three -- the black tea became pretty hearty pretty quickly. All in all it was fine, but not my favorite. Brewed in 10 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes.
Surprisingly I liked this tea more than I thought I would. I'm generally not a big fan of cranberry flavours but this one is quite nice. It has a gentle berry taste, but is also quite fragrant. It's almost floral, like Jasmine.
Very good fall tea, a little on the bitter side but after adding some honey it cleared alot of that up.
Cranberries are awesome with their fruity tartness. This tea brings a nice fruit flavor but doesn't really capture the tart. Maybe the rasberry leaves are supposed to provide the bite but instead they add a bitterness which became more pronounced as the tea cooled. I tried a lower brew temp but think a shorter time (2min) may also be needed to bring the flavors into better balance.
I can see myself rebuying this blend. The Cranberry is just tart enough to be interesting
It a good cup of tea (212 @ 3 min). Love the cranberry.
This tea was steeped for 190°F for 2 minutes. I added 1 tsp of tea sugar to a 10 oz mug prior to steeping. I noted only one dried cranberry in my tea leaves, so I added a couple of craisins from my larder to the tea leaves prior to steeping.
I was a little congested this morning, but I thought I could detect both a fruity aroma. It seemed to smell primarily of raspberry, although I seemed to note a cranberry scent too.
My initial impression upon my first sip was of a gentle sweetness. No bitterness was noted from the black tea.
As the tea cooled, the cranberry and raspberry flavours became more full-bodied. I think that adding the extra craisins might have been a good call.
This wasn't necessarily my favorite tea, but I found it pleasant enough.
Tart and tangy, with a slight astringency. Definitely tastes better with sugar!
Very holiday themed tea. Just enough berry flavor. Drank iced.
I remember not being too impressed with this tea last year...However...this year it seems to be so much better. I did have a nice plump cranberry in my CommuniTEA packet! I steeped it at a much lower temp...probably 195º. I added a few dried orange peel pieces and honey. It was really good! Nice tea for my pre-Thanksgiving baking and planning.
CommuniTEA Sample: A nice black tea with some good flavor. Steeped it lower temp and a shorter time to prevent any bitterness and it worked very well. A nice sip this morning!
Lovely black tea with the perfect amount of tartness to sweetness ratio! I added a cube of sugar and a little cream to mine <3
My CommuniTEA packet did not have any cranberries so I chopped 2 fresh cranberries and added them to my steep. With that addition I got a nice tart & fresh berry flavor from the tea with a solid backdrop of the black tea. Simple, tasty and easy to drink.
The cranberry flavor was light and the tea wasn't very bitter when hot and plain. It did seem to get more bitter as it cooled but sweetener would probably help with that.
This was a weird blend for me. It wasn't as tart as expected, but i really didn't care for it overall
This tea brewed up so bitter that I couldn't finish it. I don't know if it was the raspberry leaves, the cranberry flavor, or the black tea itself, but the combination of all three ended up being extremely astringent. Not for me!
This was a delicious tea with enough cranberry to taste but not overwhelm. A new favorite.
There were no cranberry pieces in my CommuniTEA packet, but there were several raspberry leaves. The scent was a little odd, not quite cranberry. Mine didn't have much flavor of cranberry to it, just some weirdness to the black tea. Not bad, just weird. I guess I will have to buy a larger sample to see if I do like it or not.
Not a tea I'd drink other days of the year, but wow, does this make a fantastic festive tea! Perfect for the day before Thanksgiving as I'm prepping food and getting ready to celebrate. A punch of cranberry in the middle of that very bold black tea.
Today's packet had plenty of slightly artificial cranberry scents that burst out as it opened. An abbreviated black tea steep at 212°F for 3 minutes produced a burnt orange tinted tea.
I was a bit apprehensive about the artificialness of the aroma coming through into the flavor. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the tea didn't take on this exact characteristic. Instead, I was greeted with a mild yet dry and pleasant cranberry black tea.
A nice mild cranberry scent came through as the steam rose while the tea cooled. Brisk and bold black tea provided a nice tannic edge that blended well with the dry and slightly tart cranberry. Some mild malty flavor was still found hiding underneath the stronger layers of cranberry, and raspberry leaf. The cranberry combined with the Ceylon tea gave the impression of blackcurrant.
Overall a nice bold cranberry tea. This one might be easier to oversteep thanks to the strong raspberry and cranberry flavors. At the 3 minute mark, it was definitely bold enough for me.
This one was ok. I could taste the cranberry when sweetener was added but didn’t like the bitter note the raspberry leaves brought to the blend. With so many flavored blacks out there that I do enjoy, I would give cranberry a pass. It’s not terrible, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. Happy Sipping!
I think this is one of those instances where the CommuniTea packets fall short. I had raspberry leaves but no cranberries. There was the subtlest kiss of fruit flavor but I was left wanting that delicious tartness. The rest of the blend was smooth and good though.
A nice black tea that's a little sweet and a little bit tart.
Especially for a berry tea, very good! Fruity and warm tasting.
Sipping along with the CommuniTEA: Distinct cranberry and herbal-minerally raspberry leaves noticed from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 min at 190° F, I notice warm cranberry notes from my cup. When I take a sip, honey-ceylon notes and subtly sweet cranberry balance out tangy raspberry leaves and astringent tea tannins. This tea is a great conduit for cranberry goodness without being too tart or too sweet. If it is tad too tart, you can always add a little sweetener.
Loving this tea! Cranberry and black tea make a great combination. Delicious! Perfect for the day before Thanksgiving!
I'm not really sure that it tasted like cranberry, but it was certainly fruity and sweet.
I liked this better than I did the first time I had it in the CommuniTea last year. Nice, light, tart cranberry flavor that really comes out with a touch of sweetener. I don’t know that I’d drink it on its own, but I enjoyed trying it again in the CommuniTea.
No cranberries in my CommuniTEA sample, but the aroma and flavor of cranberries were not missing. I sweetened with a little raw sugar, and thought it pretty good. But then I read another review that mentioned cinnamon, so I added a sprinkle. Takes this tea to another level!
Interesting flavor of tea that doesn't exactly taste like cranberries. Benefited from honey, and would be better if I had orange peel.
My bias against fruity adagio Ceylon blends stands. This however, is delicious. True cranberry taste over a delicate black tea that stands up to the flavor but isn’t overpowered by it.
I tried everything to like this tea. Added honey, orange slice, milk, extra sugar and more sugar. Hot or chilled it was nasty. What a strange taste to my palate, couldn’t even tho I tried. Ultimately I tossed it down the drain. Too astringent, aroma too chemical, nothing in my cup was balanced. 212, 3 min.
24 Nov 21 communiTEA re-taste/review: Very little raspberry leaves were noted in my communiTEA packet … this is a good thing! However, no cranberry pieces were present.
I had 3.27 grams of tea, enough for a 13 ounce steep. I steeped at 190°F for the black tea. I pulled the steep at two minutes, when strong bitter tastes were noted.
When hot, mild cran-raspberry flavors were noted. Mild dark cocoa flavors were noted from the tea. Overall bitterness was moderate. I added ⅜ teaspoon of sugar to help tame this.
When warm, acceptably moderate sweetened dark chocolate flavors were noted. Moderate and pleasant cran-raspberry tastes from the flavoring kept the show going.
This blend hit the mark this time. Reason why was that there were very low amounts of raspberry leaves in my packet that had overpowering sharp bitter tastes on my prior review. I enjoyed sipping my tea this time. (2 mins @ 190ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)
⭐️⭐️ 26 Nov 20 communiTEA review: Y’all have a great Thanksgiving day! Now the bad news: An inordinate amount of raspberry leaves were noted. No cranberry pieces were to be seen. Looks like we’ll have to rely on the flavoring to do all the work ... again! It’s starting to get real disheartening with these packets missing a main ingredient. I pulled the steep at two minutes due to bitterness from the tea and sharp tastes from the raspberry leaves. I added some sugar in hopes of taming this down.
From start to finish, very mild cran-raspberry and bitter cocoa flavors surfaced. Overall tastes were not pleasant tasting due to the sharpness of the raspberry leaves. You can only add just so much sugar to cover this up before all you get is a cloyingly sweet undrinkable concoction! A very dry and slightly astringent finish was noted. Sorry, but this one missed the mark. (2 mins @ 190ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)
Nice refreshing cup of tea. The steeped tea aroma is definitely cranberry and the flavor is cranberry light with out the astringency of cranberries.
Sour and slightly sweet. I got more of the raspberry leaf flavor than cranberry. Definitely needs some added sweetener.
CommuniTEA packet tasting, I steeped for 3 minutes @195F and it worked for me. Adding any sweetness you like enhanced the cranberry flavor. As it cooled, the tartness popped. Happy sipping!
I love and hate this blend at the same time. It is smooth and you can really taste the cranberries but the flavoring is a little too over powering.
Cranberry tea is perfect for the cold holiday season. I love the tart and sweet combo the tingles on my tounge and an eyeopen aftertaste. Temp 212 : 12 oz cup: 1 1/2 tsp sweetener : 3 minutes
A good fruit tea, with the tartness of the cranberry complimenting the slight bitterness of the black tea.
Not a fan, too bitter for me. I'm probably a bit biased, though, because I hate cranberries...
I tried this one last week. It was bright and fruity. The cranberry stood up to the black tea. So many black tea based fruit teas are fruit in name only. This was a lovely winter tea.
A fall classic! I love cranberry juice, and this is a nice translation to tea for a warm fall drink.
Nice cranberry taste! Will use this one again in November.
Lovely black tea with just the right amount of tart cranberry taste. mmmm! Makes me think of the holidays! I sprinkled in just a bit of cinnamon. perfect!
