This was an OK tea, but in my opinion it did not taste at all like candy cane. It was closer to butterscotch than peppermint - which makes me wonder if they sent me the wrong tea by accident.
This wonderfully smooth, minty treat that will fill you with a warm Christmas spirit and leave you jolly. There's no need to wait for a visit from Old Saint Nick to enjoy this yuletide favorite.

This was an OK tea, but in my opinion it did not taste at all like candy cane. It was closer to butterscotch than peppermint - which makes me wonder if they sent me the wrong tea by accident.
A delightful blend of peppermint and a subtle vanilla. Contains actual candy cane bits.
Tried this as part of the communiTEA box. Mine was very much peppermint. I didn’t notice any cream at all in it. A bit of white chocolate would be good with this one to round off the sharp edges.
Not bad, but candy steeped in tea is always a little odd.
Great minty tea! It has a strong peppermint flavor deepened by the black tea. Great with milk
This peppermint tea is very strong but mellows nicely with milk, sugar, and additional flavors. I added other Adagio flavored teas to my next two steeps to calm and complement the assertive mint taste. To my second steep, I added a teaspoon of Chocolate Truffle and for my third steep, I added a teaspoon of Tiger Eye to the mix with its caramel and chocolate flavors. The result of this tea layering was a flavorful chocolate mint blend with a hint of caramel. Now if they only made candy canes that tasted like that.
Sweety, minty and Christmassy! Perfect tea for December.
Let this Candy Cane Tea brighten your day! As you sip you will be reminded of the joys of Candy Cane Lane.
This tastes just like a candy cane. A delicious easy to start your day or end your day with a nice dessert.
I'm not a fan. It tastes like I had a nice cup of good black tea, and someone dropped a mint candy into it. Great individual flavors, but not a good match.
I was missing any candy cane pieces from my packet today but still had a wonderful minty smell emanating from the contents. I brewed it up as per instructions.
I was so pleasantly surprised at how good this was, I had expected a very artificial sweetness, but instead discovered a smooth and creamy minty cup of tea. The base really complimented the flavour, it softened and rounded out the tea. I could see this tea being made as a latte or sweetened for a lovely desertlike cup. This definitely goes onto my list so I can experiment with this tea and see what else I can coax out of it!
Boy did this smell strong! You'd think I had just cracked open an Altoid tin rather than a CommuniTea packet! I decided to make it into a hot tea latte to mellow the flavor a bit. Since the flavor was so strong it held up against the sugar and milk very well.
Reviewed as part of the communiTEA: really enjoyed this with cream and sugar! So delightful as a dessert tea
I've said this about candy cane teas before, and I'll say it again: This tastes like calm. A little Stevia sweetener, and just a drizzle of whipping cream and you have dessert in a cup to calm the most jangled nerves. I adore this tea!
This is an ok tea. The mint flavor is very rich and buttery. It doesn't taste bad, but the rich flavoring really put me off this tea. (3 min @ 212°F)
This is probably the best peppermint tea out there. It’s so smooth and sweet, without being an overt blast of mint. The creme and actual peppermint pieces really just take this one over the top. Easily one of my new favorites!
I really enjoyed this tea, but I marked it down 1 star because it did not taste like candy cane. I would definitely drink it again.
My Communitea packet was missing the peices of candy cane, but I think it would have been too strong for me if they were there. This tea had a really buttery mouthfeel and quite strong peppermint flavor. I'm not a huge fan of mint unless it's in the background. Overall, it just isn't one for me.
I did spy a couple candy cane pieces in my CommuniTEA packet - but in true candy cane fashion they were sticky and covered with tea leaves. The tea definitely smells like candy canes! When brewed (3mins @ 185-190ish), I had a dark rusty cup spreading minty fragrance throughout the room. Upon reading the ingredients I was curious what the difference was between a candy cane flavor and just a peppermint flavor. The candy cane flavor adds a slight creamy vanilla taste underneath the bright peppermint. The black tea provides a smooth base, letting the other flavors shine. This tea is heavy on the mint, evidenced by the distinctive cooling freshness that lingers in my mouth for minutes after each sip. I think I prefer a straight-up peppermint tea, but this one would be fun to have seasonally.
I loved the candy cane tea, minty but not too minty. I could drink this all year.
I don't like candy canes or peppermint, so perhaps this is not the best tea for me. I tried it. But I will not be trying it again.
No candy cane pieces present but the flavor was there all the same.
I don’t know what it is about this tea but I really don’t like it. From the smell in the pouch to the aroma from the cup down to the flavor on my palate, this tea is definitely not a winner for me. While black tea and mint has never been a problem for me before, it’s strangely buttery in a way I don’t enjoy and the mint flavors weren’t prominent enough in the blend to overcome this. I try to be as objective as I can when it comes to teas I don’t particularly enjoy, but maybe I’m just incredibly biased with this one because I feel like it has greatly missed the mark.
This one is a bit minty for my dollar, but given the holiday, I'll allow an indulgence.
This is actually a tad mintier than the candy cane blend in the winter box.
I remember trying this one years ago in the holiday sampler and did not like it. This year, and without modifications in any way, it was surprising that I enjoyed it. It's not too sweet and overpowering, as the name may infer.
Very pleasantly surprised! I don't really like mint flavored teas. This tea, however, is really enjoyable. Slight buttery flavor to me and peppermint not overbearing. I added rock sugar and a little milk and 'viola' a perfect cup of tea.
Lovely flavor. Christmas can linger in your mind when u have a cup of this tea. Love it ! 💗💗💗💗💗
I'm all in when I find a blend of black tea and peppermint. Smooth and tasty...I like to add a splash of milk and find that the candy cane pieces are all the sweetener I need.
I'm not sure what candy canes they've been eating over at Adagio, cause this does not taste JUST like a candy cane. It also has significant notes of butter and vanilla. It's pretty tasty! Like a sugar cookie decorated with candy cane crumbles.
Personally would have preferred a bit more peppermint flavor. I added cream and sugar to my first cup and it was delightful. I am going to put in some vanilla syrup in my second cup to see how the taste changes. Perfect tea to sip while watching Christmas movies.
Buttermint more than the peppermint of a candy cane, but still real tasty. Does put me in a festive mood though.
Nice peppermint flavor, but doesn't really hit the candy cane flavor perfectly. A little too mellow for that. Still a nice minty cup.
(212ºF for 3 min) As other reviewers have noted, this is more of a buttermint flavor than a candy cane flavor. A strong buttermint that nearly overwhelms the black tea and lends a light natural sweetness to it. If it weren't for the mild underlying bitterness and astringency this would be fine without any additives. Would recommend steeping this at a lower temperature to avoid that problem. Sugar and half-and-half helped subdue the bitterness and elevate it into a smooth, creamy, minty, liquid candy.
It's ok. Smooth, buttery minty flavor pairing up with the black tea is decent but not something I'd go out of my way to drink again. Better with cream and a good amount of sweetener.
I got this as part of My CommuniTEA. I didn’t have any candy cane pieces in my sample. One reviewer suggested that this tea tastes like a butter mint and that reigned true for me. I liked the tea better as it cooled and added a bit of rock sugar to the cup. The whole family liked this one.
The Taste and smell of the mint used in this tea was so overpowering. It also gave me a sour stomach. I took two sips realizing the sensation and threw the rest down the drain of my sink. I hated this tea and couldn't finish it.
This wasn't what I expected, but I did enjoy it. I didnt see any candy cane pieces in my communitea packet and I got really strong caramel notes, which surprised me. There was a rich caramel-ish flavor as well, but then a soft kick of mint. The mint stood out more as I sipped, but it wasn't overpowering. Nice and light, I would say the perfect amount.
Soft peppermint, almost an underlying vanilla aroma and taste. Definitely do not brew this tea too long to avoid bitterness. Adding a touch of sweetness and maybe cream would only make this a richer cup of tea.
My original review for this tea is with the holiday tins. I love this tea! It is one of my favorites. It is smooth, creamy, and buttery with a natural sweetness. The bad news for you candy cane lovers is that this tea would have been better named as Buttermint. To me, it smells and tastes just like buttermints, not a candy cane. You still get that minty, cool kick, but with the smooth, buttery quality instead of a strong bite. Its a subtle difference, but it doesn't come out of the cup screaming candy cane if that is what you are looking for. Most days I drink this plain as the natural sweetness is enough for me. On occasion, a little bit of rock sugar is nice. Once I even threw in some candy cane chunks like I would rock sugar, that amped up the candy cane flavors more. Plain is my preference. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 4 min @ 200F).
I did not expect to enjoy this one because I kind of assumed it was going to taste like a bitter version of peppermint tea, but I have to be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised.
My CommuniTEA packet definitely had plenty of candy cane pieces and when I opened the packet, I was surprised to note that it didn't smell JUST like mint, it also had another softer scent under it. Another CommuniTEA member mentioned buttermints and I think that's a much more accurate descriptor than what I had come up with, so I'm going to go with that.
The mint in this cuts the bitterness of the black tea nicely but using the black tea gives this a bit of body. I didn't expect it to be almost creamy in texture, but it is. I steeped at 212ºF for 3 minutes as stated on the packet, but I think if I'd steeped it at a slightly lower temp, it might have been even smoother and softened the dry mouthfeel a bit. If I had a little creamer, I'd have added it just to see how that might affect it, but I don't.
In any case, this tea was lovely and I think it's one to add to my wishlist.
First off, I'm not a fan of peppermint tea. It is usually too strong for me (and always makes me sneeze). But the Candycane Tea is milder and creamier in taste. Sadly, my CommuniTEA packet didn't have any candycane pieces in it--just black tea leaves and peppermint leaves. But the aroma is like a sweet peppermint candy. Not sure why I didn't think to add some crushed candycane before steeping. I steeped at 195F for 3 minutes, which kept the bitterness of the black tea at bay, and added a raw sugar cube to bring the peppermint candy notes forward. Very good! This tea would be good iced, too.
I am a big fan of peppermint teas. This one had no candy cane pieces in it. It actually had something in it that gave it a chemical tasting quality. I prefer the creamier tasting ones. I have tried many of Adagio’s mint blend and love them all. This one, I did not care for.
I enjoyed this Tea as a latte. Perfect representation of a liquid Candy Cane. Perfect candy like peppermint with hint of sweet vanilla i steeped for 5 mins at 212 degrees. Added a little honey & foamy milk. Between tge Advent Calendar, 12 days of Christmas & this CommuniTEA packet, I always get excited to see Candy Cane. Today, I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA December box.
The Adagio Candy Cane tea is a real treat for mint lovers
I just love the Candy Cane tea! It's one of my favs! Sometimes I'll even use a candy cane to stir my tea to make it more pepperminty & sweet.
I have tried this tea a couple of ways. And for me, there is just not enough of a peppermint candy cane taste. I am very disappointed because I was so looking forward to this tea. I love candy canes.
I thought I would like this one more than I did... there’s a lot of syrupy flavoring. It’s like they liquified an entire candy cane and put it in a mug. It was difficult to taste any tea... If just candy cane is what you’re looking for, this definitely tastes like it.
Smells refreshing like a fresh peppermint candy cane, its slightly on the sweeter side (not like plain peppermint tea, think more candy cane than peppermint itself) and tastes good, even a bit oversteeped (chronic oversteeper, I know). I had this sitting while I was prepping stuff to make Christmas cookies in the kitchen so I can t remember if I pulled it out or left it in my cup, but either way it was tasty enough on its own and I think I will want at least a sample size to keep on hand come the holidays, not sure about a huge bag because I have a lot of teas as is and while it was good it would likely not be a year round craving for me, and I wouldn t want it to get stale from year to year if I can help it. I do plan on finishing my sample size and maybe ordering one more before winter is over, but if I don t, I do plan to get another pack before next year. If you like candy canes and high powered black tea, this would totally be a tea for you. I have another candy cane tea that I like, and if I ever get through my huge stockpile of that one, I could see myself making this one its replacement. Come December and January, I do enjoy a 'bright' and brisk collection of winter themed teas.
A great tea in a cold
winter day. A little sweeter than just straight peppermint tea. Perfect with some foamed milk to make a latte!
This was a holiday crowd pleaser and a festive offering for Christmas. It has a pleasant candy cane quality that was strong enough to be recognized but not overpowering.
