This tea is unreal. Adding it to any other tea gives the drink this fantastic baked goods quality. Its a little like marzipan and a lot like cookies.
Ceylon black tea with a touch of almond. Plush mouthfeel, creamy marzipan notes, nutty sweet, balanced astringency.

I enjoy black tea but I do often oversteep tea in general. Per CommuniTEA members I’ve started to brew black teas at a slightly lower temperature (195F) than recommended to avoid bitterness just in case and it’s working well. The packet certainly smelled of almond but I can’t say there was much almond flavor in the actual tea, besides a touch of dry nuttiness afterward edging into bitter territory. Almond extract is usually made from oil of bitter almond and almost smells/tastes like cherry, which was the case here. This was good for me, not great. I did not use any milk/cream but imagine that would be a nice addition.
This was a really good tea! Brew it under boiling for 3 minutes and it is perfect. Just the right amount of almond for the black tea.
The CommuniTEA packet aroma was of black tea and marzipan (rather than a toasted nut type almond flavor), and so was the taste once steeped. This tea had a pleasant lingering astringency, and I enjoyed it most with honey and vanilla almond milk, though it was nice any which way including chilled. I steeped at a lower temp to prevent the black tea from turning bitter. I preferred this over the almond oolong. For me, the marzipan almond flavor balances well against the black tea. A nice enough tea, but I tend to prefer a toasted nut type flavor. That might be why I prefer the black tea version --- it's not quite as marzipan-y as the almond oolong. (3 mins @195º)
I received this in the communiTEA box. This tea has a nice light sweet almond scent to it upon opening. After brewing, there is just enough almond to be present, but not so much as to be overpowering. I’ll be adding this to my wishlist.
Part of the January 2021 CommuniTEA box. Almond is always hit or miss for me. Today’s cuppa was soothing and pleasant, especially when adding a vanilla nondairy sugar free creamer.
This black tea smelled and tasted like almonds. I brewed this at 212f for 3 minutes. While I drank this black, I think it would taste nice with a little milk and sugar
I can clearly see how this tea might be good in another context but the cup I drank this morning before work seemed more bitter than astringent. The almond flavor approached at the end in a way I didn’t very much enjoy.
I like the aroma of almond when I opened the package from the communiTEA. Despite my expectation, the actual tea did not have much aroma of almond. So I consumed this tea with my favorite florentins, which happened to be in my sweets box.
The almond flavor is very mild. I think there was more almond smell than taste. It's sweet without adding any sweetener. My husband, the marzipan lover, really enjoys it.
I don't normally choose a lot of almond flavored things, but this tea was really good! The dry tea smelled great. The flavor came through in the brewed tea very strongly and was very pleasant! I could see this being really good mixed with one of the berry teas or cream or another nitty tea. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I really wanted to loved this as I’m a black tea fan but I did not. I was brewed it less than suggested and the almond was over powering like in a marzipan way. I got two cups out of the Communitea sample and shared it with my husband.
First I tried the tea black with a little sweetener. I was not a fan. Then I added a little cream and I liked it. Not my favorite..
This was a nice change of pace in my communiTEA. It had a lovely almond scent and flavor, it was simple and easy to enjoy. A nice relaxing morning cup of tea. I plan on ordering this one.
The aroma of this tea on opening the CommuniTEA packet reminded me of Amaretto. Knowing that Ceylon tea is often bitter I steeped 2 min @ 195 degrees. While hot I only tasted the Ceylon tea but not the almond flavor. I added 3/4 tsp of my own mix of honey, brown sugar and butter. After a taste it was still bitter so 1 tsp of half and half was added. It was only after it cooled to room temperature that I noted the almond flavor. I think this would have been better as a cold brew.
The almond aroma ad flavor are strong. A bit of cream and sugar are perfect to bring out the marzipan flavor.
Ok, I did not think I would like this. But to my surprise is was pretty good with cream and sugar. Easy drinker. Smooth, not bitter. Smells really nice too.
This was a nice surprise! I wasn’t looking forward to this CommuniTEA packet since I didn’t think I’d like the almond flavor but it’s pleasant. There was a tiny bit of bitterness as it cooled but it was tolerable. Overall, it’s not quite my flavor but it’s wonderfully smooth and slightly sweet plain. I don’t think I’d buy a large bag for myself but I would definitely drink it again if it was offered to me, and the sample size is tempting. This tea would pair well with something vanilla. Resteeped there was almost no flavor. That could be my own fault though, I did pour a bit too much water.
Steep at lower than recommended temp of 212F so the almond flavor comes through. If you over steep, it makes a nice cup of Builders Brew with the addition of plenty of sugar and cream.
The taste of this tea was a tad too 'artificial' for me. I couldn't taste much when it was piping hot, just a subtle aftertaste, but as it cooled the almond flavor did get stronger, but the aftertaste got worse. I made sure to steep it at 190F for just 2.5min to cut back on the chance for of astringency, & while it was still a tad astringent, I don't think that is the root cause of the off flavor.
The 2nd steep was better for me because the flavoring was weaker. I can see how this would work in some blends as an accent flavor, but I don't think it does well on it's own.
This made for a very pleasant tea to get my day started. Noting that this tea tends to run on the bitter end I opted to brew at 200 degrees and it turned out quite smooth. The almond came through and wasn't too artificial tasting.
This is a nice almond flavored black tea. I enjoyed it without adding milk or sugar.
I don't particularly like almonds, so I wasn't excited for this tea. The taste and smell is like almond extract, as opposed to roasted almonds for eating, so there's that inherent sweetness.
I did a 3 minute steep at 190ish and was left with a nice reddish brew. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the almond flavoring was pretty light and the black tea actually comes through quite strong. It's a high quality tea with a rounded flavor, supporting the sweetness of the almond.
Steeping at a lower temperature is crucial for this tea to avoid bitterness. I had a smooth cup that was pleasant even for someone who doesn't enjoy the main flavoring.
Lots of lovely black tea in my communitea packet today. The aroma wafting out was very nice, and reminded me of amaretto, it had a bit of a liquer-ish smell. I brewed it up for 3 mins at 200 degrees. I found the cup had a tiny bit of bitterness- not too much, but I think it didn't present the almond flavour as well as it could have. This tea would probably be softened a bit by some milk/cream, but I enjoyed it plain. It had a bit of a marzipan like quality, I usually prefer a nuttier taste.
All in all it was a nice enough tea, not something that I would drink on its own, but I think that this could be blended with other teas to bring a nice flavour addition.
I’m not always a huge fan of almond flavored things, sometimes they taste very artificial. This tea is a nice, sweet and nutty flavor without getting too artificial or overpowering.
The almond flavor in this tea is a gentle, roasted type of nut flavor, not at all like the artificial cherry-infused almond flavoring present in some teas. It blends well with the subtle cream flavor for an overall pleasant experience. It stood up moderately well to a bit of sweetener, but much flavor was lost after creamer was added. This was a tea which brewed fine in hard water but did not re-brew well (as might be expected from a black tea, but I wanted to try anyway.) Not the most amazing tea I've tasted from Adagio, but a good basic dessert tea or a daily treat. (I used 1 tsp of tea for a 6 oz tea cup and brewed for 3 minutes and didn't feel like the tea was particularly bitter, flavors came out more in warm than hot tea)
I didn’t get much almond flavor. I ended up adding a touch of cream.
This was a subtle bit smack you in the face with almond flavor. Adding a bit of oat milk really made for a terrific tasting cup of tea this morning
I did enjoy this, but not enough to purchase it for my stash. I brewed it at 200 degrees F and experienced no bitterness, but my palate seems to enjoy other black teas more.
Nice almond aroma when opening the CommuniTEA packet. Once brewed, the aroma diminished, but there was a very light, pleasant almond flavor. I'm not a fan of the Ceylon tea used as a base. It was quite bitter and astringent. I forgot to brew it at a lower temperature than noted on the packet though, and went a minute over. (212 degrees, 4 minutes, 8 ounces water)
I’ve had this tea a few time and so it’s become one of my go to black teas, but not my favorite because of how how strong of a flavor it is. The Almond it’s self is mild, but the rest is like a kick in the face on an early morning day.
I LOVe this tea in blends. On its own, it’s nice and mellow with a hint of marzipan. Add a little milk and it’s like a cookie!
Brewed 3 min @ 212F with rock sugar added.
*Disclaimer: I don't mind almond milk, but I usually can't stand anything else almond. Since this came in my CommuniTEA box, I tried to give this tea a fair shot.*
The smell of the dry leaf is almost artificial to me. The brew itself smells akin to something like a light English breakfast.
I added a teaspoon of rock sugar to this like I usually do with my tea. I thought it would be enough until I took a sip and realized just how correct everyone was about the bitterness. I immediately placed a second teaspoon of rock sugar in my cup with the hope that would help. The bitterness is still there but the extra sweetness helped somewhat. To me, this tea just tastes like black tea with some weird after taste.
I honestly was anticipating for a 'bite into the dessert only to discover disgusting marzipan' moment. Instead, it was just 'meh'. It isn't the worse thing I've ever tasted. I think if someone bought this tea expecting a nice, hefty almond taste, they might be disappointed.
Perfect amount of almond flavor with an amazing aroma.
This is a really pleasant tea, but definitely not as tasty as the very similar chestnut blend. The almond introduces a bit too much bitterness to the flavor profile for my taste, but overall, it's a lovely tea--just unable to compete with Adagio's better black tea blends in the same flavor family.
This was one of my first purchased of a non fandom tea. And I did not like. But since then I have learned to not boil the water and steep at a lower temperature. Today I steeped this at 190 for about 1-2 minutes. And I have no bitterness! I may now actually use up that bag that I got!
The almond aromas are definitely much stronger before brewing this tea, but the subtle almond flavor in this tea also allows the black tea flavor to come through without bitterness. I did add a bit of Stevia sweetener to bring out the almond flavor. It reminds me a bit of an almond biscotti, which would actually go really nicely with this, if I had one.
A delicious almond aroma, and mild but still distinct almond flavor blended with a classic black tea. If you like almond and black tea you’ll like this. Not bitter when brewed properly according to the instructions.
With my usual milk & honey it reminds me if Almond milk. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA January Box.
This one i was a little worried about at first. I Love black teas, but I'm hesitant with flavored teas... The smell was similar to the 'cream' flavoring which I'm not particularly fond of. However it turned out pretty good. The almond came through nicely and mixed really well with the tea and a splash of milk :) It's also really nice when allowed to cool to a tepid temperature. ( I often make a cup of tea and then forget about it for an hour or two as i begin the day and find the poor abandon cup on the counter. It's always a lovely surprise if the cooled cup still has a lovely taste)
I knew I was not going to love this tea simply because I am not a nut lover. I tried it and the almond flavor was not cloying I just could not drink it all sorry. It’s just me. Not that someone else would not enjoy it. Thanks
Reminds me of tasty almond cake once I added some honey. It's a little bitter without the honey though.
When I opened the bag, it was a strong smell of almond paste. At taste, at first, black tea and... where is the taste of almond? Well, the almond is very delicate, and with the astringency of the black tea, I don't really taste it.
I find this to have a subtle flavor that strikes a nice balance with the black tea. It has a nice stout bite, as I feel a good black tea should, and tastes more like amaretto, with a sweet marzipan hint rather than being toasty or nutty. The sweet almond flavors seemed to come forward more as the tea cooled. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 3 min @ 195F)
This black almond tea is a nice wayvto begin my day. The almond is not overpowering and is a nice complement to the black tea.
This is more like a 3.5 star review but I will round up. The smell of the tea in the packet was unpleasant, reminded me of moth balls. Luckily the tea didn’t taste like that. But as is often the case with Ceylon teas, following the instructions left too much bitterness in my cup. So much so that to enjoy it I had to add honey and almond milk. Then it was nice but actually a bit weak on the almond flavor. Although I’d prefer actual almond flavor (like toasted almond) rather than the marzipan/ amaretto/ almond extract flavor here. I wish Adagio would choose a different black tea as a base. I’m happy to be able to compare this to the almond oolong soon, I have a sample coming. I am expecting to be able to enjoy that without additives.
I got this tea in my communitea box, I hate almonds they taste horrible to me. No amount of cream and sugar could save this tea for me. Add in the fact it's a black tea, sweet fruity people, run
Since I like almond flavor, I enjoyed this black tea. It smelled of almonds and sweetness in the packet and brewed at a lower temperature and less time, was a non-bitter cup of tea. My only wish is that the almond was a bit stronger. Still, it was enjoyable when hot.
I love Almond flavorings for hot beverages. This one is quite nice and I feel when it cools off I will taste the Almond more.
The almond flavor is light, but very pleasant. I used almond milk and a little sweetener.
