Today's CommuniTea packet was decaf earl grey with decaf ceylon tea, orange, bergamot flavor and blue cornflowers. I did a quick steep and I was able to drink the tea. If you like a lot of bergamot in your tea, I think you'd probably love Adagio's Earl Grey blends, including this one. If you're more sensitive to strong scents and flavors, you might find it more problematic. Brewed in 12 ounces of 200 degree water for 45 seconds.

This is a great earl Grey. It gives you an opportunity to sleep at night!

If you like Earl Grey you will definitely like this one- can barely notice any difference from Adagio's regular Earl Grey. I just am not a big fan of bergamont admittedly.

I’m usually not a big fan of Earl Grey. With that said, it had nice flavor and was enjoyable with a splash of vanilla cream.

CommuniTEA Sample: 2022 Update:

Just a quick update that I put a splash of milk in it this time and it really smoothed it out a lot. I liked it much better this time.

2021: Hmmm...my palate continues to play games with me. I have just started liking Earl Grey more and more after burning out on it several years ago. Then this morning, this decaf earl grey pops up and now I'm not a fan again. I'm not sure if it just this decaf version or if I have been having too much of it lately. Overall, it's fine as a tea. It tastes like Earl Grey without the caffeine, but just has that EG note that I don't love. But, if you like EG and want some decaf, this would be a good tea for you.

Wonderful Earl Grey with the added benefit of no caffeine for those nights where I’d like a cup without losing sleep.

As always, Adagio’s bergamot will slap you right in the taste buds! I finally found my happy place by brewing in 6 oz water and topping off with my preferred non-dairy milk. Other adjustments to steep time and temp didn’t seem to make much difference to the tart bergamot, but I do like how the decaf black tea is a little smoother and less astringent than the caf version - it makes for an overall more pleasant Earl Grey if you’re not using sweeteners.

This tea is great if you want all the flavor of Earl Grey without the caffeine. For me, sometimes I just need something without the caffeine. My mother who doesn’t do much caffeine can’t tell the difference between this one and the original.

Somehow, along this journey, I went from disliking Earl Grey tea with a passion...to really, really liking Earl Grey! I'm not sure how that happened and while I still prefer an Earl Grey blend like Bella Luna, being able to have a decaffeinated version to enjoy anytime is amazing! This one is great!

The simplest of the Earl Grey's. I cold brewed mine overnight in fridge and added a little Stevia as usual. Although better than Earl Grey's from other brands that I've had, I prefer Bella Luna or Isabella's 'Earl of Decaf' Fruit Tea lines if I'm reaching for the Earl.

I’ve always been an Earl Grey fan girl, and I’m so happy that Adagio did such a great job with this decaf EG! All of the flavor with none of the jitters. I brewed for 2:40 at 197ºF

Update 2/20/22
This has become a staple in my house. The decaf version is perfect for evening and blends nicely with others to make some yummy blends.

I have been looking forward to trying this decaf version of Earl Grey. Earl is my favorite and I appreciate a decaf version to enjoy in the evening. I recommend brewing at a lower temp to avoid any bitterness.

Update 2-20-22: I have come to enjoy earl grey by some magic power of tea exploration over the past months! This is a decent cup. Adagio's decaf process is phenomenal really and this is a good example of it. It was a little light on the flavor compared to some other caffeinated ones but it was very enjoyable and nice for when I'm over loaded my caffeine intake for the day.

8-2-21 I am not a fan of Earl Grey typically. I didn't mind one glass of this but I had to take it with cream and sugar. It was fun to try.

2/20/22- Time for a re-view! Decaf Earl Grey has become one of my favorite evening blends. I’ve learned to appreciate Adagio’s process for decaffeinated teas. They take the astringency of Ceylon out of the tea with the caffeine. I originally gave 4 stars, but this one is deserving of the full 5!

An acceptable decaf version of one of my favorite base teas. Everything is fairly balanced, and I enjoy having an option for evening sipping!

I will preface this by saying I sincerely dislike bergamot. This tea came up today for the CommuniTea and I tried to give it a fair shot, but I just can't. I'm only giving it a 3 because if you like Earl Grey you're gonna love this one.

A fabulous Earl Grey to en joy before bed or while curled up in bed enjoying a good read. So many Earl Greys to choose from. I also like this one in the morning it is milder and easy on an empty stomach. Really like this decaf Earl Grey. Nice tea with no bitterness, Adagio has the best tasting decaf teas.

I am unable to discern a flavor difference between the original and this caffeine free version. The bergamont flavor is strong and present. When I brewed at 195F for 3min, I detected no bitterness.

Not a big earl grey fan, per se but Adagio does a great job with their decaf blends. Zesty and citrusy but I can drink this one in the evening due to it being decaf.

My friend said this version of Earl Grey was ok for being decaf. The tea was just too overpowering with bergamot flavor.

Until 3 PM I drink Earl Grey Bravo. At 3PM I switch to Decaf Earl Grey. Love them both-fragrance, flavor, wow! And when I order them, they arrive seemingly the next day!!

The bergamot is the star of this tea. It is very strong, in both fragrance and flavor. I was a little worried, as the plain decaf Ceylon on its own is quite lackluster, but this one is quite nice!

I am generally not a fan of Earl Grey, but this one was pretty calm and tasty. I didn't get the 'drinking perfume' taste that I usually distaste with Earl grey. This was more mild and not as chemical tasting. I quite enjoyed the orange side-kick.

Delicious! Tastes like a good quality Earl Grey. No hint that it is decaf.
