Not a fan of most chais including this. Too much cinnamon and cloves and not enough apple. Added sugar and milk and still meh...to me though others might like it.
Timeless duo of apples and spice. Juicy and pleasantly sweet, like warm applesauce, with a clean, refreshing texture.

Not a fan of most chais including this. Too much cinnamon and cloves and not enough apple. Added sugar and milk and still meh...to me though others might like it.
This one was good. I brewed for 3.5 mins versus 5 because I find that chai’s typically go very good or very bad according to the stated brew time. This was very pleasant and great on the palate - although I would have preferred it more during Nov or Dec. Being a resident of Florida with temps in the high seventies, the flavor did not complement the season although it was very good!
This tea is nice. The apple cinnamon taste reminds me of winter and apple cider with is nice since its quite cold out. It has a warm relaxing taste to it which makes it the perfect tea to drink while doing work.
Apple and spice flavors yummy; I usually drink this in the fall. I sweetened with honey brings out apple more. Makes a killer latte. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA February Box.
I usually like chai, but this one is not my favorite. I am not tasting much apple, mostly a strong cinnamon and the burn from ginger without much ginger taste. The taste and smell is exactly what Michael's craft stores smell like around the holidays, and I think that is putting me off of this one!
This smelled delicious, exactly like the warm applesauce or cider promised in the descriptor and other reviews, but there is no apple flavor. I had enough in my CommuniTEA packet to make 8oz as directed. At first I took dainty teaspoon sips and thought it tasted like weak cinnamon water. Once it was cool enough for a full sip from the cup I got hit with wet ginger. Pure ginger, with nothing to cut that taste, made my throat burn. I wanted to like this. It would probably work well steeped in apple cider or used as a mulling additive, but this was a bad cup.
The smell when I opened the bag was AMAZING! The smell was still pleasant (spicy and sweet) after steeping. This tea is much more enjoyable when it is hot. It does not need any additives.
I'm not a huge cinnamon fan, but I feel that adagio got it just right in this blend. I had quite a few little apple pieces in mine, and they are definitely evident when sipping. It's not very sweet, which is appreciated. Brewed at 212°F for 5 minutes.
This is a warm, softly spicy cup of apple tea. It's great with milk. Feels like a fall or holiday tea
This is similar to apple cider for me, which i don't like. Going to pass on this tea, but giving it 3 stars as others may enjoy it.
Smelled of ginger VERY strongly when opened, only two apple pieces in my packet. 5 mins @ 200 F.
When brewed, very strong cardamom, too much for the amount of tea. I didn't have enough apple to taste over the cardamom. Even when adding milk & honey, in the amounts I do for every chai I make, all I could taste was the menthol from the cardamom. Not the best spiced apple chai I've ever had, but probably better if brewed from a larger batch of leaves with more apple pieces.
This chai was one of the better chais I’ve tasted. I’m not usually a chai lover, and I tend to stay away from them, but this was included in my CommuniTEA pack. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very cinnamon-heavy (which I like) and there is a gingery finish that is very spicy and tasty.
Tried this through a CommuniTea packet. Perfect for sipping hot on a chilly fall or winter day, which thankfully today fit the bill. The aroma is its strong point -- very spicy, but pleasant. Reminds me of walking into those cozy general stores you often find in small mountain towns. Scant bits of apple made into this cup, but the flavor is a pretty mild compared to the mix of cinnamon, cloves and other spices fighting for your attention. Best sipped while listening to mandolins gently plucking away.
This tea smelled like apples and cinnamon. It contained minimal tea leaves and lovely spices - I even had a full stemmed clove in my packet! It brewed a beautiful copper color with a bit of sediment sitting at the bottom. The tea taste was light even after steeping 5 mins at 200F; warming spices were predominant, but not overwhelming. Cinnamon and apple were most notable, with ginger and cloves supporting. I couldn't find orange or cardamom flavors, and maybe that was why this didn't taste quite like a chai to me. Spices tingled my tongue and apple aftertaste remained after the brew was gone. To me, this tasted like spiced cider or my favorite herbal harvest apple tea from a grocery store, not at all like a black tea. It's a great treat to warm the soul and the palate on a fall day.
Part of the February 2021 CommuniTEA box. A yummy punch of apple and spices. I might slip a little something extra in this for a hot toddy!
Nice blend of flavors and spices. I added a little rock sugar for a sweeter tea.
Oh, this is GOOD! I couldn't smell the apple in the dry packet, but it sure came through once I added the water, and it's definitely there after steeping, but it's subtle. It's supposed to be a spiced chai, though, no an apple cider, so the subtle apple is really good. This is a keeper! Going on my Wishlist! Finished it with a small amount of Stevia sweetener, and a tiny splash of cream to make it more of a latte. I could drink this all day long!
This was a wonderful, sweet, spicy apple chai! My sample from the CommuniTEA box was balanced and the perfect size for my 12 oz travel cup. Cinnamon, clove, cardamom, orange, and apple-all present and partying as a happy group! I enjoyed the chai with cream and sugar. This one definitely gets added to my collection!
Tasting this along with the CommuniTEA today. This tea has a nice cinnamon apple scent to it on the nose. However, I miss that when I take a sip. For me I am mainly tasting ginger with an itsy bitsy hint of cardamom and then a pleasant hint of cinnamon on the finish. I steeped this tea for 3 minutes and then another 2 minutes at 190° F. The bitter black tea tannins are masked well, with only the presence of dry mouth feel that accompanies the tannins. I do believe I used too much water for the amount of ingredients in the packet, so less water might have brought out more apple flavor. Definitely worth giving this tea another try.
This is nice. I don't get any apple at all, but lots of apple pie spice flavor!
Everything was noted in my packet, I even had a small piece of dried orange! I brewed it up at 200 degrees but I used only half of the water I usually would use to brew my cup. I have discovered through trial and error, that I like Adagio's chai's better when they are stronger and so I either double up on the tea, or in today's case, I halved the water. I tried some of the tea before making it into a latte, and found it to be a standard chai, I did not find the apple taste jumped out at me, but detected in very weakly in the background. I love cardamom, and found this to be also missing from the taste. I did get a good bit of cinnamon, but found it was not balanced as well as I would have liked by the other spices. I then frothed up some skim milk and added it to the rest, then added a sprinkle of chocolate/cinnamon over the top, and this made a much more satisfying latte. This chai is okay, but to my taste too heavily leaning towards cinnamon and a very weak apple taste- I much prefer many of the other chai varieties available from adagio.
I don't drink chai straight, but it is good on its own much better than masala chai. And that was just a swig. I'm making the latte now as I write this. Using white sugar and garnishing with apple pie spice.
A tasty chai tea where cinnamon is the star player. The ginger is mild, and the apple notes are very minor.
This is undoubtedly the best chai I've ever had. I'm typically not a chai fan but the addition of apple really makes a smoother and more well-rounded cup.
I got this tea in my CommuniTEA packet. The aroma was delicious and intoxicatingly spicy. I brewed at 210 for 5mins (I think I could have brewed a little longer though). Taste comprised of a cohesive blend of cloves, cinnamon and orange...however I got no apple. It’s not a typical masala chai because of the fruitiness. It was a great Monday morning tea.
Lovely tea. The spices complement the apple flavor perfectly. The apple makes for a slightly sweet cup, and the heat of the spices lingers pleasantly. Will definitely be enjoying a second steep of this one. (5 mins at 212 F)
This one was just...okay. I got it in my CommuniTEA sampler, the chai spice was pleasant enough but I didn't really taste any apple or other flavors. It was just black tea with chai spice, rather than some of the really unique spice blends I've tried from here.
This was the daily communitea offering. I'm picky about chai, and don't generally like too much cinnamon, so this is just meh, for me. I made it strong, added lots of sugar, and a generous amount of whole milk, and it ended up pretty delicious. But for me, there are other chais that I like much better.
Mild black tea with apple and spice notes. Ok alone, better with stevia
I loved the Chai tea today. I was warm and inviting. The cinnamon and apple flavor was not too overwhelming.
Nice, lightly spiced chai with apple flavors. Would likely taste like a mulled cider if a splash of apple cider was added with a touch of sugar. Very low astringency and quite smooth. Nice warm, comforting blend!
I wasn't a huge fan of this particular chai. The spices took a backseat to the apple leaving a mild tea, but I prefer chai on the more spicy side.
I'm a big chai fan and this was a tasty tea. I saw a couple of apple pieces, but the main aroma/taste for me was definitely the chai spices. First steep I drank as-is, second steep I added a splash of oat creamer. Both were tasty and while neither was particularly apple-y, I enjoyed the tea both ways.
I like this - it’s got a nice hot apple cider feel without being overly sweet or sticky like real apple cider. It seems like a good balance of spices to apple flavor. It’s very drinkable and does not overwhelm.
Lovely apple scent when I opened the pouch. Nice chai flavour. The ginger stays on the tongue for a bit. Enjoyable tea.
The apple and spice flavors (especially cinnamon) come through nicely in this tea. It’s not my favorite flavor combination though, I prefer my chai without apple. I’ve never really been a fan of apple cinnamon desserts, or apple cinnamon applesauce. I do like apple cider, but this isn’t quite like that. Steeping as directed, 5 min at 212, some astringency from the black tea is felt.
I tried this initially in the chai tea sampler and ranked it third out of four teas (Thai Chai, Masala Chai, Spiced Apple Chai, then chocolate chai). For me, there are many other chai teas I’d rank much higher than this one, but it’s a good version of what it is. Didn’t need milk or sweetener for me.
Sometimes Chai's can be too sharp and spicy for me, but the apple in this Chai smooths out the heavy spice. Smooth and sweet with the perfect balance of spices, this Chai was a treat with some honey and milk.
Smells like the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV every Columbus Day Weekend. Fresh out of the steeper, it tastes like cinnamon - delicious! I'm transported straight back to autumn. Unfortunately, the tea doesn't live up to the promises the scent makes; I don't taste any apple in the cup, even though the spices come through very strongly. Not unpleasant, but also not my favorite. Five stars for the scent, three stars for the taste. I'm averaging those and giving it four stars. (5 mins @ 212 F, no additions)
Not a bad tea, though it doesn't have a strong apple flavor; it tastes like things that are apple adjacent. I get flavors of cinnamon, cardamom, and something like brown sugar. It's vaguely like a baked apple.
This tastes like warm apple cider - spicy and sweet!
Sweet cidery apple aroma is making its way from cup to nostril and it smells so good! It tastes just as good with the tart apples and cinnamony chai flavors. This one is a keeper.
I knew I wasn't going to enjoy this one as soon as I opened my CommuniTEA packet this morning and smelled it. I'm sure that if you like apple and/or chai teas, you'll love this, because both the spices and the apple flavors were very much present, but as I'm personally a fan of NEITHER, this was rough and I didn't finish my cup.
I really liked this tea. Very little astringency. Brewed for 5 min @ 212 F. Really strong cinnamon and spices flavor. Quite a strong tea. I tried adding rock sugar to the tea to mimic a hot cinnamon spice flavor, but that did not turn out as I had hoped and would not recommend. This is really just a solid tea I would recommend
Loved this spiced apple chai tea!!! Defiently going on my 'to buy' list!
a nice apple chai that isn't overly robust or sweet with a some orange notes up front that adds a little twist to make it stand out.
Luckily, All my listed ingredients seemed to show up, on this chilly Monday morning. (unlike some of my communiTea friends packets, read comments that they were missing a few today:( ) When I opened today’s packet, I instantly said whoa! Oh my, a yummy aroma of baked apples or hmmm mulled cider filled my kitchen, as I watched my glass teapot turn itself into a beautiful rich caramel color. I love Chai, usually I prefer sipping a “spicy talk back at ya chai” blend but Wow! This is a wonderful unique cuppa tea. With each sip, a hint of sweetness appeared, hmm hot apples covering themselves in just the right amount of spices, hiding that excepted peppery bite. Enjoyed this chai blend plain, savoring the orange notes that lingered with each sip. But honestly it’s so delicious, I’m going to prepare a second steep... apple pie al latte’ sounds yummy for my breakfast. As a spicy Chai gal, I’m telling ya, give this “apple chai” a try, it won’t disappoint. YUM, (steeped 8mins @ 205F)
The actual chai taste was muted by the apple. It’s good. Not great.
I didn’t get much chai from this..just a nice apple flavor.
Everybody appeared to be present in my communiTEA packet this morning. However, only two tiny apple pieces were noted. One of them snuck out of my packet. So I gave him the “what-for” and popped him in my mouth. I mean to tell ya that this was one spicy cinnamon hot apple chunk! I think the cinnamon and apple flavorings were going to do their job. Oh yeah, overall chai spice aromas were moderate.
Only two teaspoons of ingredients were noted in my packet. So I was stuck with doing an eight ounce steep, not my normal 12. I always steep my chais high and slow. So I did what Adagio said to do (that’s not normal for me.)
When hot, heavy spicy-hot cinnamon tastes were noted. I added some sugar in hopes of turning this experience into a desert tea.
When warm, moderately sweet cinnamon apple flavors were noted. I couldn’t quite pick up any orange flavors though. They musta’ been ‘fraid of the strong-arm chai tactics being used by others. Very pleasant and moderate piney menthol flavors were provided by the cardamom.
This chai blend’s use of apple and cinnamon flavorings worked nicely in providing me with pleasant red candy apple flavors. Kudos to the Blendmeister! (2 tsp tea, 5 mins @ 212ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)
One of the better Chais that i've tasted in a CommuniTea box. not something i'd keep on hand. but a good sample.
