The two types of tea I can't stand in the least are chai and rooibos, so this was just an off day for me in the CommuniTEA. That being said, it wasn't as stomach turning as some rooibos and chais are.
The rooibos makes it have that slightly 'gone rancid' taste, but it's thankfully quite mild. The chai is really more prominent, making this a very spicy tea! This does seem like a good holiday tea if you like chai and rooibos. Just not for me.

I'm not a big fan of rooibos, but this chai blend was delicious. It had a nice smooth and spicy flavor. I brewed at 212 for 10 minute and added a bit of sugar. I would definitely try this one again

I used this to make a delightful after dinner latte
I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA January box.

As a fan of Rooibos & a newbie at Chai I was interested to try this. My CommuniTea packet seemed to have an even mix of ingredients. It had a nice level of spice, the flavor that lingered the most was ginger. I think the Rooibos melds well with the Chai flavors.
I [forgot] let it steep for ~25min. I added sugar & steamed [almond] milk.

What can I say? This is a chai, and I love (most) chai(s). A beautiful terra cotta color, with a mellowing vanilla flavor over top of the chai spice blend. Sadly, I didn't taste any orange, or maybe that's okay. Most chai doesn't have any orange. A great de-caf for a cozy evening in!

This was pleasant. The recommendation is 2 teaspoons of tea per 8 oz, but my CommuniTEA packet only had about half that so I brewed it all and eyeballed what should’ve been about 8 oz. This reminded me of a tea earlier this month that I described as savory, however thankfully this one wasn’t as savory. It’s clearly chai and is pleasant. I noticed the slight spice tingle in my first steep that others in the chat mentioned, but it was very subtle. Like other chais I’ve tried, this was better sweetened with sugar but still decent unsweetened. My resteep wasn’t appealing to me and I considered dropping a star because of it. It reminded me of a tea earlier in the month that some people described as similar to a soup base. Seems like a tea you would drink if you were sick. With sugar, it was tolerable but I still didn’t like it. Overall, it’s a fine, warming cup of tea but I won’t be picking up a bag for myself.

Nice solid chai, and I enjoy the fact that i can still have this right up to bedtime because it has no caffiene, so that is a huge plus for me. I plan to try this a few ways and will likely keep it on hand for a while just to have a solid anytime chai.

This is a very pleasant chai that balances all flavors well. The vanilla and cardamom notes were most prominent to me. Rooibos makes a good base for this blend without dominating the other flavors. It's a good tea for a chilly winter night.

The spicy blend of ginger, cinnamon and cloves masks the red rooibos in this tea. Spices are what you taste throughout with the vanilla taking a back seat. The bonus is that there's no caffeine and can be enjoyed anytime.

The smell of the dry tea kinda threw me off, as it was spicy and medicinal in all the wrong ways even though I'm usually a rooibos fan.
I pressed on and steeped for 7 minutes, coming away with a cloudy orange tea. It's heavy on the spices, giving a strong chai flavor. The rooibos is deep in the background, giving off gentle earthy notes every so often. There's a slight zing from the orange. The vanilla wasn't present, except for maybe providing a slight sweetness. It's a little bit like drinking a cup full of cinnamon and cloves (not altogether unpleasant), but perhaps a larger sample would be more balanced.
Overall this tea is good, but somewhat forgettable. I like it as an option for a caffeine-free chai but not enough to buy more.

I wouldn’t buy this. The package smelled of orange rind despite being labeled vanilla roibus. I did not smell vanilla at all or taste upon brewing. I added warm milk, sugar and a dash of vanilla as someone suggested and I still don’t care for it. The cloves overpower it.

When I opened the sachet, I smell like cloves and ginger, but a very bit little vanilla. At taste, there is rooibos and ginger, with a delicate aftertaste of vanilla. Subsequently, the clove appears and comes a little invade my mouth. Cinnamon and ginger are also present, but it's rather delicate. I continue my tasting: the vanilla disappears in the aftertaste and the clove becomes more and more dominant. But it's a good chai that I enjoyed to tasting. (7 minutes at 95°C; CommuniTEA Jan. 2021)

Very mild for a chai, and might consider keeping a small sample on hand for those times I want Chai. Tasted great when Almond milk was added. Nice sample for the CommuniTea box.

Tasting this tea along with the CommuniTEA today. I have tried samples of this before and it is one of my favorite chai teas (if not favorite). In this cup, I get strong sweet notes of round caramel-vanilla and cinnamon with hints of earthy red rooibos on the nose. When I take a sip I get a warm spicy kick of clove, cinnamon, and a bit of cardamom. A zing of ginger and clove lingers on the palate and creates subtle tingles down my throat with each sip. My packet seems to be lacking in the orange, which I would enjoy, but it is not missed. Steeped this cup for 5 mins and then 2 more at 212° F.

This rooibos vanilla chai is spiced nicely to cover the distinct flavor of rooibos. If you are looking at an no caffinine evening tea, give this one a try.

Really enjoy the spiciness of this blend. It's very smooth, with a great aroma of what's to come. Lots of ginger and cloves to spice it up. I didn't taste any vanilla though. Perhaps with some oat milk and/or sugar that would have come out more. I didn't enjoy the orange flavor; it tastes a bit artificial and out of place here, but it's light, so I still enjoyed this blend.

Part of the January 2021 CommuniTEA box. The flavor is warm and comforting, like a fireside. It reminds me of an orange pomander, somehow.

The red rooibos base is not a favorite of mine but in this case, the chai spice overpowered the red rooibos medicinal taste. Tried it as part of the Communitea but not something I would consider purchasing.

Mmmmmm. I love vanilla, cinnamon and cloves so I loved this tea! I like spice so steeped for at 212F for 10 minutes for a nice strong cup. The vanilla, cinnamon, cloves tastes and scent were all present...but the orange got a little overwhelmed. I think when I steep my second cup, I will add in a slice of orange to bring that out. Lovely caffeine free chai!!

This was pretty good, even though I don't actually like chai or spiced teas. I added a little bit of vanilla unsweetened cashew milk and that softened the spice a bit so it was more enjoyable for me.

Today’s CommuniTea is delicious rooibos / chai blend. As it steeped, a beautiful rustic orange color transformed, and distinctive spicy gingerly, chai aroma filled my kitchen. At first sip, swirling chai notes, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom came across boldly. Surprisingly before the chai bite could take hold, rooibos chose to step in, bringing flavors of vanilla and hints of orange, creating a mellow, sweetness end to my cuppa tea.
I always enjoy my Chai teas in the morning, but this is a tea changer! Now I can curl up with my book, drinking this Anytime, non caffeinated tea.(10 mins @ 212F first steep alone, second steep having as a latte’)

It's ok. Orange and vanilla forward with a zing of spice at the end. It's got the chai spice profile but this isn't what I'd reach for if I wanted a chai.

This is one of those situations where there is no winner. I feel horrible judging on something that I’m learning that I just don’t like! I continue to try the rooibos blends I receive in my Communitea samplers, and I continue to confirm my suspicions that rooibos and I will never be friends. That said, the spicy warmth was there in this blend-cinnamon, clove, and cardamom all showed up in a pleasant way, although the orange was a no-show. From the sip I I tasted vanilla notes were faint but there. I added a touch of cream and sugar. If you’re a fan of rooibos looking for a spicy chai, this will be a pleasant cup. If you’re a chai lover who just can’t make friends with rooibos, I would pass.

Nice way to have caffeine-free chai! I don’t taste the rooibos (which is a good thing). The predominant flavor in my cup is cloves. The vanilla unfortunately doesn’t come through the spices much, maybe a faint hint of it. I do taste some orange, cinnamon, and ginger. I would drink this again if I was avoiding caffeine and see how it stands up to milk. In this cup I didn’t add anything, steeped about 10 minutes at 212 F.

Smells like a spicy masala chai upon opening the packet, with strong notes of ginger, cloves, and cinnamon. I let it steep for the full 10 minutes at 212° and the aroma was just as spicy as the dry leaves. Unfortunately that didn’t come through in the taste for me, as I mainly get rooibos with just a hint of cinnamon and cloves. I’ve tried a sample bag of this before where I didn’t taste any vanilla at all, but I did get a very subtle base note of vanilla from my CommuniTEA packet. It’s not bad if you’re looking for rooibos with a light spice, but for a vanilla chai I would expect the vanilla to be a more predominant flavor.

Everybody appeared to be present in my communiTEA packet. I even noticed two orange peels. Moderate chai spice aromas were noted.
When hot, a cloudy and deep red color was noted in my mug. Vanilla flavors were mild. Chai spice flavors were moderate. I decided not to add any dairy products ... I didn’t want the vanilla to be masked. However, I did add some sugar since this was a chai and because I wanted to.
When warm, vanilla flavors were moderate. Mild rooibos woody flavors worked nicely in this blend. Cinnamon flavors and zings were heavy. Moderate ginger, cardamom and clove flavors were noted. I did not taste any orange peel though ... they must have been thrown overboard by them cinnamon swabbies.
This blend had a very smooth and pleasant mouthfeel throughout. I feel this was provided by the vanilla flavoring. However, it was a little too heavy on the cinnamon. You might want to add a dairy product to lower that intensity. (7 mins @ 212ºF, recommend dairy additions)

Opening the packet, all the smells rushed up to meet me. I tried it plain first (usually how I drink my tea), and it was very spicy. I added some cream and it toned down the spiciness. I am a tad disappointed that the vanilla is being overpowered, but maybe it is just my sample...

The spices and rooibos play well together, the flavor when brewed the recommended 7-10mins is intense, and it’s well suited to heavy cream and sweetener.

This would be a nice tea for someone who wants a decaf chai with a big punch of spice. I imagine it would stand up well to cream and sugar, but if you like your chai straight, I would recommend against brewing 2 tsp per cup or brewing for the full 7 minutes. At that point, spice definitely overpowered the rooibos and vanilla flavors, with the orange barely making it through. Ten minutes later, my tongue was still tingling! Without additives, I enjoyed the re-brew more than the original because I could appreciate the vanilla more, but the chai spices still came through strongly. Brewed at half-strength for 3 minutes also brought out more vanilla in the first few sips, but still finished with overwhelming spices in the bottom of my cup. This is a truly powerful, spicy tea that should stand up to anything you put in it.

This is the first Rooibos that I have actually drank all of. The chai over powered the taste of the Rooibos which pleased me greatly. This would be a great tea for cold winter nights when I want some spice but I don’t want the caffeine.

This smelt really nice and was fragrant. I got a sample of this and another rooibos and discovered that rooibos isn’t my favorite kind of tea. I don’t think it was bad, it just wasn’t for me, personally.

Love this! I drink this at the end of the night before bed, with a teaspoon of monkfruit sweetener and a splash of oatmilk creamer. Slightly sweet, very aromatic, I love this chai! It's a long steep, though, so I sometimes pass this up for something that will be ready to drink a little sooner.
