This chai is loud and brash and jangly. It does well when there's milk to mellow, but otherwise is a bit of a harsh tea.

Tried this in a communiTEA box. It’s a different tea. Not bad, but I’m not sure if drink it own its own. I would probably look for something to blend with this.

★★★☆☆

Flavor was mostly equivalent to a typical chai for me, but with a bit of an added powdery/sandy texture from the turmeric even with a strainer. Maybe I need a finer strainer, but the texture just wasn't the most pleasant.

★★★☆☆

Very turmeric. Mildly chai. If you like lots of turmeric, go for it. I imagine it would be wonderful with curry.

Another spicy Chai which I really have to try with milk.

My CommuniTEA packet for the Golden Turmeric Chai had the words 'Indulge' on it, which made me smile because turmeric is something I might drink for health reasons, but not necessarily because I felt like indulging! Nevertheless, the tea surprised me, because I am not a fan of either turmeric or chai. Together, they worked. The clove buds and peppercorns can be picked out, if you want a little less spice. I steeped in ½ of the recommended amount of water, then filled the cup with warmed almond milk and added a little honey. Although not what I'd consider a guilty pleasure, the tea was warm and comforting. Not sure I would purchase more, though.

This golden turmeric chai is alright. It's savory and I think it would go well with a meal. The spice wasn't overwhelming or anything but it felt odd drinking it on its own. I would drink this tea again but won't buy a bag of it for myself.

Not normally a fan of chai or tumeric so this wasn't my cup of tea. It wasn't bad though if you like chai or tumeric.

I love the flavors in this tea. I usually brew it with water but this past time I tried brewing in milk with some sugar and lavender. It was a nice relaxing tea with a spicy kick.

If you like turmeric and the spiciness of chai, this golden brew will wake you up without caffeine. All the flavors mix well with milk and honey, just be sure to have the patience to let it steep the full 5 min.

Golden Turmeric Chai sounded delicious, but I did not enjoy this blend of spices and turmeric.

I don't really like chai, but I do like turmeric tea, and this tea is not bad at all! The chai spices are a mellow complement to the turmeric, so neither is overpowering. The cinnamon and spices don't smack you in the face like with some chais, and the turmeric is just right. Lovely color, lovely smell. I wouldn't choose it every day, but this is a nice tea. It makes me feel very healthy to drink it ;)

To my surprise, this is a VERY nice golden chai. I'm quite fond of golden chais–they have fantastic anti-inflammatory benefits, as noted in both traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. However, as CAM has become more popular, people have been pushing just the turmeric part of the golden chai, without realizing the necessity of both ginger and black piperine–so imagine my delight in seeing both in the ingredients list!

The tea itself is surprisingly mellow for a chai, especially given the very strong ginger aroma. It's a pleasant golden color, nicely spiced on the palette, with a slight lingering taste of pepper. It benefits from very light sweetening, and would likely be delicious pulled with almond milk, in the style of a Malay Teh Halia. (Cow's milk, I think, would overwhelm with fattiness.)

I drink a fair amount of golden tea to manage chronic conditions, and this may be the best I've encountered pre-blended. I'm absolutely going to be switching to this as my default brand to have on hand.

Word to the wise: as with most Adagio teas, it doesn't hurt to under-steep this one just slightly, at 212ºF for 4min to 4min 30.

I was so excited to see this as today’s CommuniTEA. After reading through some of the suggestions, I went ahead and made this into a golden milk latte. I put about 9-10oz of almond milk to boil, and added in 1tsp of tea. I let it boil together for a few minutes, strained it, and drank it hot. I added a spoonful of sugar to help balance some of the overpowering chia flavors. The result was a beautiful golden milk, full of flavors. The cinnamon and clove are front and center, with the peppercorn adding a zing at the end of every sip. I didn’t expect to love this tea as much as I do!

I’m not a big fan of Tumeric Tea but it was good enough. I enjoyed the warming spices of the peppercorns and ginger. And the color is simply beautiful.

I'm not a spiced tea fan, and this is spicy. My mouth was tingling for quite a while after I tasted this, even with milk. The turmeric took me a while to get past, too. It definitely leaves an earthy, savory note that is unusual in a tea. If you like chai, though, this is probably a really great one, not to mention the health benefits.

Warm perfect amount of spice. This is a delightful flavorful tea. Turmeric is notable but not over powering. The cinnamon and ginger compliment turmeric.

I don’t hate it and I don’t love it. It is okay. I get an overwhelming smell of fennel in this tea. I originally received this as part of the Advent calendar and skipped trying it for fear of not liking it. I added some cream and sugar to tame the spiciness of the tea and it helped a bit but this tea is steak seasoning peppery for me. Would probably not purchase this for myself.

I don't have much experience with turmeric, let alone turmeric tea. It was unique to say the least. I preemptively picked out a few peppercorns, leaving only one or two, and I steeped it directly in almond/coconut milk, going straight for the 'latte' version of this. It turned a beautiful golden color! It didn't initially smell super strong, but when tasted the peppercorns came through the most (I'm glad I picked out most of them), with the usual chai spices tagging along. Without anything else (sugar) added, it tasted like a soup base. But for it to be at tea-drinking level for me I had to add quite a bit of sugar and even more milk. I think that's mostly because I am just not used to strong chai's or turmeric.
I could see myself experimenting with this as a cooking tea in future, but I don't think it's one I will seek out to drink on it's own again.

Not bad, but not great either. This is a chai tea that I would drink if someone gave it to me, but I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase it. The spices tasted subtle, yet made my gums tingle at the same time.
It also didn't settle well, but I'm not sure if that is because I am going through a bought of food poisoning or if it was actually from the spices.

This was alright. Mild chai flavors, with not much added from the turmeric or the fennel seeds in the mix. I feel like 'golden milk' is a bit of a misnomer because I had a bright golden ring around the edge of my cup, but the tea itself was a pale butter yellow after drinking this as a latte. I appreciate the sentiment behind a turmeric tea, however I expected the flavor to be a bit punchier.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just can't stand this tea. This is my second time trying this and it was still terrible. Firstly, turmeric gives me stomach aches, so I was hesitant to even try this, but I did. Turmeric and pepper combined is supposed to increase efficacy of the health benefits, but I can't stand the resulting taste in any blend, not just this one. Then the fennel. I greatly dislike fennel in tears as it has a slightly sweet licorice taste, which I also hate. I really tried, but I just can't drink this, even trying it different ways, with sugar, with soy milk. It's just not for me.

I've never had turmeric in tea before - only in conjunction with other spices in curries and soups. I know it has health benefits but I haven't really explored much into it. That said, I found this tea super duper enjoyable!

It's got a sweet, earthy scent, kind of like walking through a meadow in the sunshine. It makes a cloudy golden tea that is pretty to look at. The flavor is very mild and pleasant; there's a subtle tingle of peppercorn but the other spices are quite toned down. Definitely not a typically spicy, bold chai. The main taste is the grassiness of turmeric, making a tea that is slightly more savory than sweet.

I steeped in water for 5 minutes, but could have gone longer for a stronger flavor. I'm definitely going to buy a bigger bag of this so I can steep in milk and add honey for a soothing pre-bedtime drink.

I always struggle to leave reviews of teas I don't like, because it feels so subjective.

I got this in the advent calendar this year, and almost didn't try it again when it showed up in the CommuniTEA box, but decided to just for the sake of leaving a proper review.

the turmeric is the overwhelming flavor for me, and it's very much not to my taste. It overwhelms the sweetness of the chai and makes it an almost savory tea, which is not to my liking at all. When I make tea I don't want to bother with milk or sugar, and maybe this would be better with them, but it is not the tea for me.

I was a little bit hesitant about todays tea since I have used turmeric in my cooking but it did not seem to be something I would like to drink... I was pleasantly surprised that the aroma was quite chai like, nicely spicy if a bit different. I had read on the communiTEA chat about how this tea makes a nice golden latte, so I heated up some 1% milk and steeped my teabag for about 9 minutes, until the milk actually turned the golden yellow colour I was expecting. The taste was quite nice, and chai like, I found the spices were well balanced but I do have to admit that the milk probably tones down the spiciness a lot- after all, when you eat food that is too spicy, you are told to drink milk to ease it. I did find that this tea had a bit of a savoury edge to it, as opposed to the other chai's we have tried this month which I would classify as sweeter. This is not a bad thing, just a tad different, and I could see that this tea could have a place in someone's collection for when they were feeling like a change of pace.

Ah, turmeric, what a fraught relationship I have with thee! Many times has my rheumatologist told me to try turmeric for its anti-inflammatory benefits, but I could never get over its almost musky, oddly dusty taste. Meals, supplements, other turmeric teas -- from me they all received a resounding 'no thanks'.

I'm pleased to report no such dustiness shows through in this tea. I prepared it as a golden latte, steeping it in a small, concentrated amount of water atop the stove just below boiling for three minutes, then added a cup of a milk and heated it an additional five minutes until warmed through. It brewed up a nice, mellow yellow.

'Warming' is a good term to use for this. This is a type of chai that warms you straight through even when the physical temperature of the liquid drops. I taste the ginger and cinnamon on the front notes, and then tingling from the peppercorn's slight spiciness comes through when you swallow. The spiciness isn't overwhelming, but is definitely noticeable, even through the milk -- I imagine it would be even more pronounced if steeped regularly in water.

I received this for the Jan 2nd cup of communiTEA, but now I'm tempted to buy a pouch of it.

YUM.  I really enjoyed this, and a purchase is in my future...  Very bold and zingy, in the best way!  Ginger and turmeric were forward, with cinnamon also being one of the stronger flavors.  Clove, too, but more of a middle level flavor, with fennel being a softer note.  This had a natural bit of sweetness (maybe from the turmeric and cinnamon?).  The lingering zing from the ginger and black pepper is really nice!  I steeped in water and drank it just as it was. I intended to steep as instructed for the first time trying this, but in the moment, I hit repeat on my timer and steeped for 10 minutes, bc I already know I like my turmeric and spice on the strong side.  Second steep I did much longer, but I think it wasn't as good because I made my first steep stronger.  Next time I think I would try even longer.  Intrigued by Elizabeth R's instructions to steep with hot water and a fat like coconut oil to make this as a more potent anti-inflammatory infusion...  I'm interested in this tea for health benefits, and am glad to know it's also really tasty!!  I sort of feel like this might be the tea I've been looking for.

Bought a BIG bag of this stuff a while ago before it showed up in today's CommuniTea box. I drink a lot of turmeric tea because I have a lot of inflammation, and this naturally reduces inflammation the same as or better than any NSAID, and tastes better than, say, ibuprofen. I either add cream or make it 'bulletproof' by blending it with an immersion blender and using 1 to 2 Tbsp. coconut oil. It's good sweetened or not, depending on whether you want a sweet or savory beverage. The spices are the perfect blend to give this the chai flavor you may be looking for, and peppercorns are necessary for the body to absorb the health benefits of the turmeric.

I had this tea in the advent calendar and a second tasting in communitea hasn't really improved my opinion of it. It smells like an Indian spice store (which isn't a bad thing) but I feel like it belongs more on my chicken than in a cup. I really like the spicy smell. I brewed it for less time this time around and it was better when it wasn't so strong. I didn't put anything in it. I dont' really care for this blend. It smells great but I don't like drinking the peppery, spicy mixture. Turmeric has turned out not be for me.

I found myself nodding in agreement with others that used the word zingy in their reviews. The spice has a bite. Mistakes were made while I prepared mine, and ended up covering up most of the tea flavor, but the zings still came through and it made a delicious heavily sweetened golden milk latte. Now I'm curious to try it again plain. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 8(ish) minute steep in milk on the stove)

I received this tea as part of the January CommuniTea box. It is certainly one that I would have never tried on my own. I brewed this tea with hot water. I found that it was more pleasant as it cooled. For me it was more reminiscent of curry than chai. As much as I like curry, I prefer eating it over drinking it.

I skipped this one in the advent calendar last.month as I don't care for tumeric flavor much but it showed up in the CommuniTEA offering today so I went ahead and made a cup since the whole point for me is exploring new teas. First taste was meh but added some honey and almond milk and liked it much more. Not sure it's something I would buy but realize there are a lot of health benefits from tumeric so will keep it in mind for future if I want to exore how my body responds to tumeric. Tumeric blends I've bought in the past when I was healing from a running injury were not as palatable as this so I've shoes away since

Spicy golden cup of tea with a peppery finish, this one really warms you up. The tumeric adds a unique color and taste, enhanced by the addition of cream and a touch of sweetener. Non-caffeinated so it can be enjoyed on a chilly evening.

Wow! Received this via CommuniTEA packet. This is a spicy tea. Cinnamon and turmeric smell is noticed on the nose. Then I get lots of spicy pepper with fiery cinnamon, a little zingy ginger, and bright turmeric flavor with a little clove thrown in. I also get a nice little bite at the end down my throat. Although I steeped this in water for 5 mins @ 212, I think it would make a great golden milk as others have suggested. This is a great alternative to making your own. The ingredients blend well. Enjoy!

I was a little hesitant when checking today's communiTEA packet as turmeric is not a favorite of mine. Steeping 5min at 212°, the turmeric provides a lovely color and an earthy mouthfeel without being powdery. The ginger and peppercorn were overwhelming, leaving the other spices in the proverbial dust. Adding 1/4 tsp of honey tamed the spiciness and allowed the other flavors, except the fennel, to come through. Overall, this is one of the better turmeric teas I've tried.
