★★☆☆☆

My packet was very strong in Chocolate flavor and I couldn't pick up any of the Chai flavor.

★★★★☆

This tea is weaker than I was expecting, but that is probably due to the small CommuniTEA packet. With Adagio's chais I prefer to use at least 2 heaping teaspoons of leaves to get a strong flavor. However, it was still delicious and I would buy more. The cocoa, cinnamon, ginger, and black tea are all present in the aroma and it smells amazing - rich, sweet, and spicy. The chocolate flavor is very mild with the amount of tea leaves I had, but I think it would be stronger if I could have used more or maybe added some extra cacao nibs. The cinnamon and ginger provide some warm spice in the finish, pretty heavy on the cinnamon which I prefer in a chai. It was good plain, but even better with a little milk and sugar. Equal amounts of ginger, cinnamon, and black tea were noted in my communiTEA packet this morning. Three cocoa nibs and one lonely tiny chocolate chip was noted. Ginger and chocolate aromas were mild.

I steeped at 200°F to stave off any possible bitterness from the black tea and cocoa nibs. To make up for any lost flavors, I steeped an extra minute for a total of four.

When hot, moderate ginger and cinnamon flavors were noted. No bitterness was noted from the cocoa nibs or tea. Chocolate flavors were mild. I added some sugar to help chocolate flavors bloom.

When warm, ginger and cinnamon flavors remained moderate. The cocoa nibs and chocolate worked in harmony providing moderate chocolate flavors.

This blend had a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel with spicy, and chocolatey tastes. A mild spicy zing was noted at finish. All ingredients blended nicely into a pleasant multi-layered sip with no one ingredient trying to rule. I didn’t have enough tea left to add a little cream, but bet it would have been pretty tasty. (4 mins @ 200ºF, ⅜ tsp sugar)

In the package I could smell the ginger and chocolate with notes of cinnamon. I steeped in 8 oz. water at 212 degrees for 5 minutes. In the cup it is a beautiful medium brown with reddish highlights. After steeping the smell of cinnamon is more noticeable along with the chocolate. However, the predominant taste is ginger, followed equally by mild cinnamon and chocolate.
I added 1/4 cup warmed milk. It made it better, but only a little. 1/4 tsp. of honey brought it up to almost enjoyable, just not quite.
As a chai lover I think the cocoa does not go well in this blend. It feels incomplete without the milk and sweetener. Even with milk and honey there is a predominant flavor that is not pleasant. I cannot determine if it is the ginger or the cocoa. It will definitely not make my list of favorites.

Easy bias here. I love chocolate teas, so it was going to be hard for this to be a miss for me. The flavor is smooth, and even a long brew doesn't leave a bitter after taste. the hint of cinnamon brings out the chai element. I haven't been able to detect the ginger on the flavor, but I can smell it, which is my preferred balance! While I'm still on my first cup, I can tell this will hold up for a decent re-steep and I'm looking forward to it already!

Drink black for chai spice; add cream for hints of cocoa; either way quite nice (haiku review)

Mmmmmm...lovely chocolate and spicy aroma upon opening my CommuniTea packet! Brewed 212F, 4 minutes. Nice blending of flavors. The chocolate mingles so sweetly with the chai spices. I added a tsp of stevia to sweeten things up a bit. Lovely cup of tea!

Was excited to see today selection in my communiTea packet. This was one of the first teas I tried when I discovered this site, and the first larger portion I bought. I do like this one a bit stronger, so I tend to go a little a heavier on the tea to water ratio.

When I first tired this, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. The aroma while nice, was not what I expected. It has a nice dark chocolate/mocha smell with a hint of spice/what I would guess is black tea chai aroma (it was my first experience with a black chai tea as well). Not sure why, but at that time I expected more of a milk chocolate aroma, than a mocha or dark chocolate one, but I wasn’t disappointed, just surprised. And of course now I’m just happy.

The flavor isn’t heavy on anything but is mixed well with a spiced chocolate flavor that is warm and stays with you. It’s a very smooth tea to drink, and works well with my style when at the office of sipping in between calls, and trips to production and back and not being able to just sit and enjoy. I do wish that it was a bit stronger on its own, as I have to remember to either use a heavier hand with the teaspoon, or let steep a little longer, but that is easy to forgive. And it does handle being steeped multiple times well.

For some reason, I don't taste the chocolate much in these chocolate-flavored teas. I think it adds a little softness to the tea and perhaps a little richness, but I just don't get much chocolate flavor. Maybe they need to be sweetened or have creamer added to bring out the flavor? (Neither of which I usually add.) This tastes like a nice mellow chai with predominant ginger and cinnamon spices flavoring the tea. Nice cup, but not what I expected.

I loved this take on Masala chai! The cocoa nibs added a sweet chocolate flavor and who doesn't love chocolate! This was dessert for breakfast.

This is a great tea - I brewed 1.5 t in 10 oz with 2 T sugar and 2 T milk powder and it frothed up wonderfully. After realizing the tea was gone in a moment, I did start to wonder if any tea with enough milk and sugar would be delicious. So I tried it plain - A first brew of Chocolate Chai tastes weak to me, with overpowering spice and no discernable chocolate taste. To be fair, I don't really discern the chocolate taste from most of Adagio's chocolate flavored teas when I drink them plain (with the exception of Irish Stout, I think Chicory really brings out the chocolate flavors in that). Chocolate Chai wins a head-to-head comparison with Chocolate Chip due to its complexity of flavors. I found this similar to Chocolate Chai Pu-erh, perhaps even stronger than its counterpart if brewed with an equivalent amount of leaves per cup; it's definitely brighter and less earthy than the Pu-erh, as expected. The profile of flavors is a bit mellower and more pleasant than Pu-Erh Spice, and a rebrew continues to release powerful spices on a background of muted black tea. Overall, I can't say I love this tea plain, and the chocolate is quite subtle, but it is slightly better than its counterparts as a plain tea. And with a ton of calories added, it is just bliss.

Delicious aroma wafting from my hot cup of chocolate chai today! Yummy! I wanted it a little strong so brewed it at 212 for about 8-9mins. I suggest adding 3-4 chocolate chips to the brew to enhance the flavor.

This is a good chai, but the chocolate notes are a bit subdued. If it was me, I would have melted a whole candy bar in there, so take my review with a grain of salt haha! ...hmmm, adding a grain or two of salt to bring out the chocolate flavor might not be a bad thing...

I love chai flavored tea so I first ordered the sample. The chocolate flavor pairs well with the chai. I enjoy it iced with a splash of milk.

Absolutely lovely in the morning as a tea for just after waking up. Phenomenal way to not break the 'rules' of no dessert before dinner ;)

I used to love Tazo's chocolate chai but can't find it in any local stores anymore. This chocolate chai might be even better...

★★★☆☆

I ll be honest, this one was a bit of a letdown. I love chai, I love chocolate... I had high hopes. But this chai is just too overpowering, I couldn t taste any chocolate at all. Bummer. Please note, water boils at 199 degrees where I am, due to altitude.

A good chai, the chocolate is not as strong as I expected, but I still enjoyed it!

This is fabulous. Tastes perfect without any added sweetener. Sometimes chocolate tea is bitter or overwhelming, but not this one. Will definitely buy again.

I first received this as my free sample but I liked it so much I purchased more!

The chai flavor really pops without being bitter or spicy.

★★☆☆☆

The aroma was off-putting, but I had hoped the taste made up for it. Nope, the chocolate made everything else taste weird for some reason. I didn't finish my cup.

Spiced and rich flavor! I enjoy this with a little cream!

Chocolate? Chai? What can I say but: this (clap emoji) stuff (clap emoji) slaps (clap emoji)?

★★★★★

I love chai and I love chocolate, so this is easily my favorite chai that I've tried so far. It's obviously a little spicy since it's chai, but I like that this one isn't overly spicy like some of the other chais I've tried.

★★★☆☆

Nice chai, but didn't taste like chocolate at all.

This smooth and spicy tea satisfies my mid afternoon chocolate cravings.

This tea does have a nice chocolate flavor, however there is really hardly any spice to speak of, which i find disappointing in a chai.

This is warm and cozy chocolate with a hint of that chai kick. The flavors blend beautifully together. Delicious. Wish there was a decaf version so I could drink it in the afternoon/evenings. Would be a perfect dessert time tea to stop those after dinner cravings.

Probably a bit more chai than chocolate especially if you try to resteep for a second cup, but its pretty good. I think I prefer the puer version a bit more than the black tea, but both are a great way to start a flavorful day.

I classify this chai blend as just okay. Perhaps my standards are too high and I am still chasing that chocolate tea of my dreams (the pu-erh chorange has come closest for me so far) but I find this blend weak in the flavor department. I've tried brewing it from 3-6 minutes, and while the flavor improves with time, after 4 minutes I find the ginger flavor overpowers everything else.

I wasn't sure how chocolate would taste with spice but this is a great tea with some rock sugar and a bit of creamer!

I used to think I was a chai person, but now I realize that my tastes changed as I got older. I tried this one hoping to enjoy chai teas but the chocolate just doesn't seem to do much to help. I'll probably try to use this blended with something else.

I was looking forward to trying this but it was really not my taste. Way too cinnamon-y

★★★☆☆

The chai isn’t the best, but the chocolate makes up for it. I haven’t found that adagio’s chais are the best. Not enough cardamom, anise, or ginger imo. Other people have different tastes, but I really care about those flavors.

I love a good chocolate Chai in February. Some how my mind equates it with valentines day. I really love combining it with the chocolate chip tea for a more rich chocolate flavor.

★★★★★

Very good chai, I love the hint of chocolate flavor in it. Something in the flavor reminds me a little bit of root beer, in a good way.

★★★★☆

I wouldn t say this is a favorite, but I have come around to chocolate teas. My husband really likes this one :)

★★★★★

My all time favorite, great chocolate flavor. Don't even need sweetener.

★★★★★

One of my favorites so far. I reordered after running out. It’s a warm, complex spice blend that gets added depth from the cocoa nibs. Delicious with or without milk.

★★★☆☆

Eh, wouldn’t repurchase. The flavors don’t go well together. It’s just the taste of chocolate slapped together with ginger with cinnamon pushed in. Not elegant or smooth. If you particularly love those flavors you’d like this tea but I was hoping for more of a chai with a hint of chocolate but this is much more cinnamon heavy, then ginger, then blunt chocolate
