So perfect for the cold weather! A welcome morning treat with my banana pancakes!
It's alright. Don't expect it to be bold or too chocolatey. It's pretty mild, which left me a bit disappointed
This is another great Pu-Erh blend. I ordered a sample, and really like it. I do wish that both the Chai flavors and the chocolate flavors were a little more pronounced. Good morning tea.
Could have had a stronger chocolate taste but very good.
This is pretty good, earthy and chocolate and a bit spicy. Reminds me of spicy oaxacan chocolate. I like it.
Love this one. Seems to be a good balance between the ginger and chocolate.
I think this is better than the chocolate chai, I like the flavor much better. If you're looking for a nice smooth chocolate chai go with this one. I'll be ordering a larger bag next order for certain.
Update, get yourself some chocolate salted caramel creamer and WOW! I'M ADDICTED! It's great with or without the creamer.
I think I expected it to be more chocolatey. Good if you only wanted that slight hint.
I am really loving this chocolate chai pu erh!!! It is a fabulous cross between chai and pu erh with a slightly spicy sweet taste. It's so good that I just received my second pound. Of note, the instructions say 2 teaspoons per cup while the communitea pouch only had 1 measured teaspoon. Perhaps Adaigo will clarify...
I am a big fan of this team. You could really taste the chocolate flavor and all that flavors of chai tea it is a great combination
I have discovered I'm not a big chai fan, but I love pu-erh and chocolate teas so I thought I'd give this a try. Nope. for me, it's a miss.
I m a bit picky about chais, and I don t think this spice blend works very well with the pu erh. It has that artificial cinnamon flavor that turns me off on any tea.
My first pu erh tea, and therefore a bit of a journey. I once had a friend who was very into whiskey, who told me he liked 'peaty' whiskeys. I asked 'You want your whiskey to taste like dirt?' He said 'I want it to taste like SOIL, there's a difference.'
I didn't understand it then, but I get it now. The pungent earthiness is less dirt, more soil. I absolutely have to be in the mood for something like this, but when I am, it hits the spot.
Has an interesting smell but a very smooth chocolate drink.
I love the chocolate chai black tea, and I love this pu erh version too! Lovely flavor and scent. I've had it with milk and honey for a treat. I've never had pu erh plain, though, so I'm not sure how this compares to regular pu erh. I'll have to give that a try sometime and see.
Overall this was nice, definitely leaned more towards chai with a hint of chocolate than anything else.
I found that the spice comes through on the front very heavily, and the chocolate sits on the back pleasantly. The scent of this tea is absolutely lovely!
Before I say anything else, I want to preface this with an important piece of information: I don't like chocolate. I like chai and I like pu erh, but not chocolate. If I were rating this solely by personal preference, I'd give it a 3, but I'm trying to rate it in its category, as a chocolate chai pu erh.
I really enjoyed the smell of this tea when I opened the bag, as well as after steeping. It's very heavy on the ginger, with a solid cinnamon-clove base that practically screams 'chai,' with just a hint of chocolate. The taste, too, is very much a chai with just a hint of chocolate. As a chocolate chai, I imagine it ranks very highly.
Where this tea falls short is in the pu erh category. There's none of the earthiness that makes pu erh so distinct. My guess is that it's being overwhelmed by the chai flavor. In that respect, I feel like it needs an overhaul. Perhaps a more earthy pu erh base would help? (5 mins @ 212°F)
This is a pleasant tea although not a favorite of mine. The chai spices shine exquisitely but I would have liked the cinnamon and clove to shine brighter. The ginger and cardamom almost overwhelm one. The bitter hint of cocoa nibs lingers on the back of the tongue while the very faint chocolate flavor tries to speak. While nice the pu erh flavor is very much lost if nonexistent. Sugar helps round out the bitter tastes of the spices and cocoa. Adding cream or milk I believe helps make this tea much better and reminds me of a spicy hot chocolate. Overall nice but falls a little flat due to the lack of cinnamon and extra bitter flavors.
The flavor was a bit weak on this one and I couldn't taste much chocolate if any.
I’m be beenwanting to try this tea, and it was today’s Communitea! I don’t think the chocolate flavor is very strong. I do think that the chocolate smooths out the flavor of the spices, making this a mellow chai tea, which works for me!
Meh. Seems weak to me. Perhaps in another format I could triple up on tea leave and would like it better.
Nice chocolate and chai flavors. This tea has a slightly more rounded flavor from the pu-erh then the classic chocolate chai.
Very nice Chai tea. I used half as much water as I usually do so it had lots of flavor.
This is the best chocolate chai I have ever had! The Pu erh balances out the spiciness for the most well rounded chai I’ve had in a long time. Instead of a strong overpowering cup, this creates a soothing, wonderful morning experience.
I’m a huge fan of all chai teas. This one was just okay for me. The tea has a good flavor; I just don’t like chocolate flavor in my tea. It overpowers the cinnamon and clove I enjoy so much.
It would make a great team latte but it s a little too spicy on its own
I bought the chocolate teas sampler pack and this was my favorite one in the pack. I liked it so much, I just ordered more! I’m already a fan of chai, but this was my first time trying a pu erh. The depth and spiciness from the ginger make it enjoyable to drink. Add a little sweet creamer for a nice treat!
Wow, I think this is what heaven tastes like! If you're a chocolate lover, this is a must-have.
The chocolate comes out a little nore in this one theh just the chocolate chai still strong chai flavor
I was less impressed by this Pu Erh than by the Hazelberry, but it s still a solid tea. I may just be sensitive to the intensity of the chai spices.
Cinnamon and clove flavors are very strong I couldn’t really have the cup next to me because the smell was overwhelming.
I usually went for teavana's chocolate chi and this is ever so slightly different but is a good go to
Two of my favorite tea flavors- chocolate and chai- along with pu erh tea is just delicious! This might be my new default morning tea.
I really enjoyed this, although you have to steep towards the longer end to get a good chocolate flavor.
Yum!! This is delicious, especially first thing in the morning.
I really wanted to like this tea. I like the chocolate tea, and I like the masala chai, but there is something about this blend that just doesn't work for me. I'm not certain if it's the Pu Erh (as I haven't had that before) or if it's something strange with the cinnamon flavor, but I can't bring myself to drink more than a cup of this at once (if that). EDIT: lowered stars, because I literally couldn't bring myself to finish the sample. There was just something too far off for me.
Very strong but not overpowering. This tea has so many different flavors that I pick up something different each time that I make it.
Tasted in chocolate sampler and it is very good so decided to buy bulk. Great with milk & stevia, yum!
Amazing tea!! But I got the bags, and it turns out those are leeching plastic into our bodies. So opt for loose!
This tea is alright as a chai, but to me, the chocolate sorta gets lost among the spices. I prefer the blend of flavors in the pu erh chorange.
Love, love, love this tea!!! It has a delicious chocolate flavor, nice and satisfying. I really love the spiciness of the Chai, yummy.
This tea tasts strongly of Chai tea, the Pu Erh and chocolate parts are hardly noticeable.
I prefer this over the other chocolate chai. I add 1 teaspoon of maple syrup sugar and a quarter cup of almond milk. The chocolate is just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.
I generally like my chai heavy on cardamom and clove and lighter on cinnamon. This blend strikes a pretty good balance, with the cinnamon and ginger up front and a good cardamom aftertaste. The pu-erh gives it nice body and the chocolate adds a bitterness than I found pleasant. Easily handles re-steeping without much change in flavor profile. Enjoyable with or without milk and definitely doesn’t need sugar.
This is an excellent chocolate chai tea. The choice of Pu-erh was a great choice to combine with the chocolate. It's ginger-y, spicy, and quite flavorful. I purchased the 16 oz bag.
This is good!! Sweet & spicy. Love the combination of chocolate, chai spices, and puerh. If you like this, try the Matt Sella Dream Daddy blend!
Warm, smooth, and spiced. An amazing tea, had to get a full sized bag. If you’re looking for something to enjoy in cold weather this is your tea. Well balanced, nothing feels overpowering, a well crafted chai.
Pretty darn nice. The Pu erh funk is a little strong on this one, but still very enjoyable.
LOVE THIS PU-ERH. It is full of chocolate flavor and the chai only brings out the chocolate. The chai does not take over. Now I already enjoy Pu-erh teas. The health benefits from Pu-erh might entice one into trying this one. Enjoy with lemon
