I love this tea so much. The pu-erh tea is smooth and earthy, and not as astringent as other black teas in my opinion. The subtle chocolate flavor comes through and goes well with the spices. I like it brewed as suggested, but I also really like it where you simmer it for a few minutes in the water, and then add milk in a 1:1 ratio, and reduce by half by simmering, kind of like how an Indian chai is made I believe

This such a richness to it, and makes a wonderful alternative to that first cup of coffee in the morning. Just delicious.

This is a good chai with subtle chocolate taste. The spices have a bit more bite than some other chai flavors I've tried. I recommend steeping this at a lower temp than 212F, maybe 200F instead, in case it gets a bit bitter. If you want more of a chocolate taste than chai, I also recommend blending in a tea such as chocolate truffle. The chai & truffle blend is easily 5 stars!

I am updating an old review here. This has become a fall favorite this year. I have even gotten my teenage son to enjoy a few cups while getting over a cold.
The chocolate is pretty subtle. It does go well with the chai spices. Puerh is almost always a home run for me.

My husband can not stand chocolate coffee and thought he would not enjoy this tea. It is now his favorite! Already needing to reorder it!

Dude this is so good, it has a very rich chocolate flavor but retains the strong pu-erh flavor i need more of this lol

It didn't taste like much of anything to me. I made it by seeping 1.5 teaspoons of tea at 212 degrees for three minutes

Gifted this tea to a relative who loves chai, and she loved the blend. For me, it was too spiced, though I did enjoy the chocolate.

This one was a super fun blend for fall season. Autumn spices are always nice, but this one had a cocoa note that was strong enough to not get washed away by them. The pu-erh base wasn't as earthy as I am accustomed to, but it was still a great cup today with nothing needing to be added to it 212° 5 min

a delicious chocolate chai, the right spice for a Chai, the under current of dark chocolatey goodness... all pair well with the softness or the pu-erh

Absolutely a ripe tea. The taste was so good and the bite of the spice really made the chocolate pop especially once I let the cup cool. A phenomenal cup

As someone who doesn't care for chocolate teas, this doesn't taste like chocolate at all for me- a downside for the actual target audience of chocolate teas.

I tasted the chocolate flavors in this blend and some earthy notes that reminded me of kombucha. As I've noticed before, I prefer the flavor of the chocolate chips over an added chocolate scent.

Neither of us like chocolate and ginger together, but we were pleasantly surprised by this tea. We had a CT portion of the regular Chocolate Chai a while ago and disliked it. This is much better! The pu-erh base is studier so the chai spices could be properly bloomed in a hot long steep without scalding the tea. That lead to a better balance to the cup. The ginger aroma was VERY strong upon opening, but mellowed in the brew and let the chocolate and tea tastes move to the foreground. It's sweet enough on it's own, but benefits from some cream. I added a splash of whole milk that seemed to gentle the ginger further allowing the cinnamon and clove to surface. Unlike the previous, we did finish the cup of this chocolate chai. That said, we both still found the spice mix harsh and discordant with the chocolate.

It has a very nice chocolate chai aroma. The taste is a nice clove forward chai tea, I didn’t taste any chocolate.

To caveat, dessert blends are not generally my cup of tea (lol). The chocolate flavor gets more pronounced the longer it is steeped for. The spiced notes leave a mark after the first sip ~ !

When we try the teas, we are sharing the tea sample and four of us are trying it. I thought this tea was just fine but the other reviewers (ages 9, 15, 18) did not enjoy this one. It is chocolate, it is chai. You just have to love chai I think :)

CommuniTEA sample. 5 min @ 212 F, no rinse. I really like the natural, earthy flavor of Pu-Erh, and the fact that I am not tasting that is a little bit disappointing. I don't smell it either, it mostly smells like chai spices to me. When I taste it, I mostly get ginger, I guess that the earthiness from the cocoa nibs might come out a tiny bit? I wish that brought out more earthiness in the Pu-Erh itself, luckily, I do get the smooth, rich, heavy body of the Pu-Erh. I just feel like there's too much going on and it doesn't all play the best together. I did two infusions, and I liked the first one much better than the second.

In the bag, this tea smells overwhelmingly of cinnamon with no room for much other aroma. While steeping, I still smelled predominantly cinnamon, but some chocolatey notes started to emerge towards the end of the steep. Hot with a bit of milk, it tastes like a pretty standard chai with a hint of cocoa on the front of it. I feel the earthy taste of the pu'erh is overpowered by the cinnamon, spices, and chocolate flavor. Not a bad cup, but not my first pick.

It's just ok. I don't like the added cinnamon flavor. I'd rather this just have tea spices, and chocolate chips

A Pu-Erh I like!
It honestly just tastes like the regular Chocolate chai tea, (which is awesome). Ginger is the key spice I taste, with the other spices falling in line to make a delicious warming cup of fine chai

This is an earthy full-bodied tea that has a lovely array of spices. I find it to be smoother and richer than most of the chai varieties, and more satisfying to drink when I want something to sip in the afternoon. It has a nice caffeine lift too.

It's pretty good, but I do wish the chocolate and spice were bolder and more balanced. They both should have been stronger!

The first thing I noticed was the intense chocolate smell and the pretty colour. This was my first ever Pu-Erh tea and it was delicious. The chai was light and wasn't overwhelming or too spicy.

I added some oat milk to my tea. It has a very light aroma of spices and a bit of chocolate and pu-erh. The taste is primarily spices, a very strong flavor. But it's not too spicy or anything. I taste a bit of the pu-erh, but really not much. And also not much chocolate. I would call this tea pu-erh chai, as the chocolate isn't really noticeable. But it's a very comforting chai. :)

A delicious touch of chocolate to the rich spice of the chai and pu-erh. The whole pieces of non-tea leaf parts do not take away from the caffeine kick.
I put cream in mine.

A wonderful, gingery spicy smooth chai! The pu-erh makes it nice and smooth and adds a good depth of flavor. Perfect as an afternoon substitute for hot chocolate or a mocha coffee! Great hot, good iced, needs a little creamer to soften the spice!

A fantastic chai blend that is a joy to sip! I haven't had many chai's with a puerh base, but this one is outstanding. Wonderful notes of chocolate and chai spices, and the complexity of the puerh, make this a fantastic sip!

Hmm, pleasantly earthy with a bit of spice. I should've brewed a bit longer -- the spice takes a little while to settle in -- but it's a good combo. (Review 11/22/23)
Edit: Tried again in the CommuniTea box on 3/2/24, and I still like this one, but I definitely didn't have enough tea in the packet for the amount of water I used, and I stand by my opinion that a longer brewing time is important here. Still, good spice, and I appreciate it for being one of the few chocolate-flavored teas where the chocolate actually comes through.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one to be honest. Most chai's are too spiced for my liking, but this one was not. I also liked the chocolate that was added, which is huge for me because I am one of those strange keto people!

I'm drinking this after just finishing some curry, and they definitely complement each other well. The tea smells delightful, and may please chai drinkers even if they don't normally gravitate toward pu-ehr. 12 ounces of 205-degree water for five minutes.
