Chaga Chai is delicious straight up or as a latte. Blended with rooibos, chai spices, and a touch of coconut to make a warming, soothing cup with chaga mushroom for extra goodness.

So excited Adagio has a chaga tea, this tea was earthy and had very pronounced cinnamon and ginger flavor. There was some coconut in my packet, but I never tasted the coconut over the spicyness. Glad this tea is an option, wish it was just chaga tea by itself. I buy organic chaga bags from another vendor (sorry earmuffs Adagio) and brew the bag with strong black teas like Irish stout, the earthiness is undectablable and the health benefits are there. This is a nice option at night for a decaf chai.
I like rooibos and chai but I am not a big fan of the aftertaste the chaga leaves. I am glad I got to taste this with the CT but now I know not for me.
This is a nicely spiced chai. It’s full bodied and full of ginger.
A decent chai. I didn’t really taste mushroom just a pleasant blend of spices. I would consider this again. 212 for 7 minutes.
CommuniTEA portion: brewed at 212 for 7 minutes, as directed. I will admit I was apprehensive about this one. I knew of the benefits but I wasn't sure I would enjoy this tea. I was pleasantly surprised. Mostly just a more earthy chai that I'm used to. Not overly sweet and a good balance of cinnamon. Nice sip.
very earthy and strongly spiced, definitely recommend a spot of honey and some milk to lessen the blow
I really didn't know what to expect with this tea but I was delightfully surprised! The ginger is the first flavor that popped out which wasn't too strong but wasn't too weak either. The chai flavors were a definite plus but then there was a slight sweetness in the background. I don't think I could distinguish that it was coconut but I was happy with it either way. This turned out to be a happy surprise that I plan to stock up with.
Very pleasantly surprised by this one. I expected a really earthy taste and instead got a lighter tea taste with the Chai spices in the foreground. It's one I tried for the first time with the CommuniTEA and may purchase.
This is a decent decaf chai. I wish the spices were a little stronger to disguise the rooibos more. However, perhaps it’s just strong to me because i very much dislike rooibos. I was hopeful for more mushroom flavor with less rooibos but the mushroom is hardly detectable. All in all a very drinkable late night chai.
I love the earthy flavor of chaga and blending with with chai spices is genius!! This healthful drink is my go to after supper drink!
When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, I noticed aromas of cinnamon, ginger, and a touch of coconut. I saw that the chai spices, coconut pieces, and chaga pieces were present in the packet. I steeped the tea for about 5 minutes. The ginger and cinnamon were very prominent in the flavor, but the coconut balanced nicely with those flavors. I really didn't detect the chaga in the flavor in the tea though, but I appreciate the benefits of chaga in the tea. I really enjoyed this version of chai! It was quite a treat!
For my personal taste, this would be a two-star, but in fairness it's an okay tea. Some will love it, some will hate it. For my experience, I bought a sample size and brewed a cup. The first few sips of the hot beverage were pretty good. But a little while later, after it had cooled the sips had lost their appeal and those little shrooms were taking center stage. I tried, but just couln't bring myself to finish it. Each time thereafter that I though about brewing another cup the primal memory just wasn't going to allow it. I passed it along to a friend.
It has a strong ginger/spicy flavor and a bit of earthiness. At first I could really smell the mushroom scent so along with the ginger, it made me think of stir fry, which is not what I look for in tea. The smell faded a bit as I was drinking. I'm not really sure why you would want mushrooms in your tea. Eating any mushroom will give you more antioxidants.
The smell from the packet smelled of food to me. (Like a stir fry maybe?) I really wasn't sure what to expect from a tea with mushroom in it. I do really like chai and red rooibos, so I was willing to give it a go. Whatever chaga tastes like, it pairs nicely with the spices and red rooibos. It reminds me of a medicinal tea, but tastes better than what you thought it would.
I like it! It's a bit crazy tasting but it's (in time I will like it better) rooibos, so a win-win. Lol I use rooibos honey and a bit of Splenda sweetener to give it a sweeter taste for me to drink this tea.
A very earthy and spice heavy blend that really bites at the back of your throat with each sip. An interesting taste worth a try.
Not to thrilled with this chai, but I like the rooibos and caffeine free and it is healthy.
Interesting flavor and enjoy the spices. Great tea for cold weather.
Tonight's packet was a delightfully caffeine-free Chai blend, which released a nice spiced aroma upon opening. A long 7 minute steep at 212°F produced an orange brew with cinnamon and spice scents.
This tisane had a nice strong flavor when compared to other rooibos chai blends. A slightly heftier earthy flavor must've been provided by the Chaga mushroom, while spicy cinnamon, strong woody clove, and zesty ginger gave plenty of spiced layers. Really quite a tasty non-caffeine chai blend!
Today's communiTEA sample was a mouthful of cinnamon, ginger and mushrooms. Adding some chocolate honey made it drinkable.
This is a nice zingy chai spice tea that has just the slightest hint of coconut underneath. I liked this a lot, the spices were balanced and warming while the coconut was creamy and slightly sweet. I'll be getting more of this to have a spiced tea without the caffeine!
If you like spicy chai but don't want the caffeine this is the best of both worlds.I sampled this tea as part of the CommuniTea January 2023 box.
I could *distinctly* taste the mushroom! Turns out, I don't like drinking mushrooms, even if they are fine ingredients in my pasta!
My favorite chai-- not for the purported health benefits of the mushrooms (which I suspect are few in a dry portion of tea)-- but for the taste. I also love that it's only rooibos, spices, and coconut pieces-- not even natural flavoring. I'm not worried about the quality of the flavoring, but it's great when a tea can stand on its own merits withOUT any added flavoring. The right ingredients in the right proportions and combinations can do that as this chai illustrates.
Why is this good?? It's full of mushrooms! But no, it's an earthy, well spiced cup of tea. I'm so confused.
This was a pretty good tea. My packet had plenty of spicy flavors for me and it had a kind of woodsy flavor that was probably due to the mushrooms. I didn’t know what the tea would taste like because I don’t care for mushrooms, but this was a nice sip. It’s something unusual and certainly worth a try.
This is a nice spicy rooibos chai. The mushrooms leave no taste but have lots of health benefits!
All the spiciness I love in a chai, none of the caffeine. Delicious! :)
Nice, light spices blended well. The cup is earthy and comforting with warming ginger and cinnamon flavors dominating.
A nice and earthy chai with peppery spice. Not really getting any mushroom taste but that is fine. Enjoyable and I would get this again.
212F for 7 minutes. Dark reddish brown. Mostly picked up the cinnamon flavor, but it has a very nice warmth.
Pleasant! Nothing to write home about -- I have two different low- or no-caffeine Adagio chais on the shelf already, which are both far more strongly spiced and to my preference, as chai goes -- but if you want a slightly milder chai with a lot of health benefits, this is a solid choice. Got a bit of an earthy/herby aftertaste, but not a bad one; it's a nice counterpoint to the chai. All in all, a perfectly fine tea.
Very nice cinnamon tea, but the cinnamon does overwhelm the other flavors. Generally a nice middling tea for when you’re not sure what to grab!
Ginger and cinnamon aromas were noted in my communiTEA packet.
I had 3.49 grams of ingredients, enough for a 14 ounce steep. I steeped at 212°F for seven minutes, as recommended.
When hot, moderate chai spice flavors were noted. Mild nutty flavors were noted. I added ¼ teaspoon of sugar to bring out flavors.
When warm, moderate to strong ginger and cinnamon flavors were noted. Coconut flavors were mild. Clove flavors were moderate. Moderate apple cider flavors were noted … yep, that’s what I tasted! Rooibos woody tastes were overpowered by the chai spices. Slight earthy and bitter flavors were noted, probably from the chaga.
This was a very intense tasting chai, with apple cider tastes in the background. A long lasting ginger and cinnamon zing mouthfeel was noted throughout my sip. Don’t laugh, I tried this tea twice on different days with the same results! A definitely drinkable and very memorable sip indeed. (7 mins @ 212ºF, ¼ tsp sugar)
This tea makes me euphoric, not sure why. Me and the hubbie say no driving and drinking chaga (makes us to relaxed). Taste =little spice with a some dirt/earth
Chaga chaga chai
Sounds like something cavemen chant
Like Hodor or Groot
I taste spicy chai
Cannot say I taste mushroom
Tis quite delightful
If fairies drank tea
I imagine them tipsy
They would love this blend!
(Meandering thought haiku Review)
In the bag: Finely chopped rooibos makes up about ⅔ of my packet. Plenty of chopped cinnamon bark and ginger bits. A few tiny, lonely cardamom seeds that look black and shriveled. A lone clove bud. Finally, three white, semi-translucent slices of either coconut or chaga - I can’t tell which.
On the nose (pre-steep): First scent impression is of cinnamon. That is quickly followed by forest floor which I presume is the chaga - an earthy note with a slight musk and vegetal quality. A hint of ginger backs up the front row singers.
On the nose (post-steep): A distinct mushroom aroma has taken center stage. It reminds me of the savory, hearty scent of roasted portobello. Cinnamon pops in as a fleeting background flavor. Ginger has left the stage altogether.
On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Light smoky mushroom is the primary flavor. A touch of woody rooibos joins mild ginger and cinnamon as the backup chorus. A lingering peppery spice in the aftertaste.
On the tongue (post-sweetener): Little change in flavor. The sweetness counteracts the savory mushroom note and not in a good way.
Opinion: An interesting and unique blend. I have had other mushroom-centered blends that simply didn’t taste good, but the other additives here make the flavor broader, more complex, and certainly more palatable. I recommend skipping sugar as I don’t think it complements the initial flavors.
Preparation: 7 min @ 212 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener
I wasn't sure about todays communiTEA ... having mushrooms and my nemesis red rooibos. I loved it!! The spices were mellow and the coconut added sweetness. Guess I'll have to add it to my wishlist.
It tastes like mushrooms and coconut. The spices were sparse.
Supposedly chats has antioxidant and anti inflammatory benefits… the tea was delicious. I brewed for 6 minutes (I always brew chais longer) and added cream and sweetener. If I get a chai anytime soon I think it will be this one.
The warm and wonderful aroma of ginger floats up from the CommuniTEA packet. It steeps into a rich golden amber. What a delightful taste - ginger and cloves, with the cinnamon providing a real zing in the finish. The cinnamon lingers long after the swallow, filling the mouth with spiciness. This is sweet enough to drink straight, with no additional sweetener. However, adding ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 12 oz) does allow the coconut to peek out. Wonderful caffeine free tea. (7 mins @ 212ºF + sweetener).
This is a delicious decaf chai. It’s strong in flavor but not quite as spicy as Decaf Chai or Vanilla Rooibos Chai. I steeped at 212 degrees for 7 minutes and added a healthy amount of rock sugar. I like my chai strong so I go easy on the water.
The flavor on this tea was a little too subtle for me. I was unable to taste the coconut or spices that sounded so good in the ingredients listed.
I liked the concept of this tea in regards to the addition of mushroom, but the cinnamon favor was ovewhelming to me
A full bodied, warming tea. Surprisingly zingy and a little bit earthy
Very nice, the chaga complements the roibos perfectly! It has all the great properties of a regular roiboos chai, with the added depth of chaga flavor, very interesting!
I have enjoyed all the teas I have tried thus far eith the exception of Chaga Chai. I don't know why, but it was bitter.
Personally I did not really care for the earthiness of the chaga. I also though the chai spices were not strong enough. It's not a bad tea, it just wasn't for me.
So glad I tried this flavor! I wanted to try a chaga blend and I am really enjoying this one. It may not be as strong of a “chai” flavor as some other blends I’ve tried…but that could just be me. I would buy it again.
