Tangerines (Citrus reticulata deliciosa) got its name from the Moroccan port city of Tangiers, from which the mandarin left in 1841on a boat to Europe where it was introduced to the continent. Its history, however, dates thousands of years ago when it was, and remains, a popular citrus in both Japan and China. Abundant in vitamin C, it is frequently bred with other citrus to add fragrance and sweetness. Prepared with minimal amount of withering and naturally dried, the fresh unopened tea leaf buds of Fujian's white tea are known for their warm mandarin orange taste.
