Today's CommuniTea packet is skinny tea, one of Adagio's wellness teas. It's made of oolong, green and yerba mate tea; ginger, apple pieces, senna leaf, dandelion root, orange, cinnamon, safflower, and creme brulee and cinnamon flavors. At first I was hesitant to try it because of the mate. And then there's the senna. A one-two punch. But I decided to do a quick steep. It smells good in the packet, and while brewing, and the mate didn't deaden the other flavors like it sometimes seems to. Know your body before you drink this, but overall it's pleasant for a wellness tea. 12 ounces of 195-degree water for shy of 3 minutes.

The dried tea in the CommuniTea envelope smelled of mate to me. I cold brewed the tea overnight, and it became a bright yellow color akin to Mountain Dew. I don't care for mate teas, and this was the taste that showed through for me. It also concerned me to see a note about consulting your doctor if on medication (I'm on several) before having this tea. Might be good for some, but not my cup of tea.

If it weren’t for the mate in this blend I think I would really enjoy this one. I like all the other ingredients and flavor profiles. Interesting blend, thankful that I was able to try it in the CommuniTEA. 190° for 2.5 minutes.

Tasty. I was not expecting to like this on since I don't tend to enjoy medicinal teas. It contained lovely notes of caramel and walnut... It does have some side effects though :)

CommuniTEA 3/2/22: This tea is meh for me. I am not a big fan of dessert type teas in general, and this one is giving me strong walnut caramel dessert vibes. It's ok, but not something I would reach for. I don't usually drink senna, so I'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow.

For a medicinal tea it was surprisingly good. I preferred it hot over fridge temp. The creme brulee flavoring really dominated after being chilled. I would probably only try a small amount at first until you know how it is going to affect you.

This tea was surprisingly sippable, slightly sweet with a touch of cinnamon, ginger and other pleasant flavors I don't recognize. Haven't experienced the 'benefits' but a nice cup of tea.

A very delicious and effective tea for my stomach. I did get some of the maple other reviewers noted. I am going to have to purchase this one

I was surprised that this tea didn't smell or taste medicinal. That being said, I didn't like the taste of it. I love real maple syrup, but not maple flavored things.

This tea does smell and taste a bit like maple syrup. Although it tasted good, I probably wouldn't purchase this because of the senna.

This tea has a lovely aroma. The taste is pretty good. I especially like the ginger and cinnamon. I'm not a fan of the yerba mate.

The tea itself smells wonderfully sweet almost like pancakes, but the flavor is really vegetal from the dandelion root. Light and clean flavor but I don't taste the cinnamon that some report. I like it better after adding a small amount of sweetener, but not my cup of tea overall.

All I got from my packet was Creme Brûlée. I couldn't discern any of the other flavors, and was rather disappointed. Maybe I got a bad batch?

This tea tasted pretty good. It had a lot of different flavors but they all went well together.

Wow. Great tea. Smells and tastes great. I added honey. Lovely creamy flavor

This tea tasted very good, definitely scared to drink since the senna leaf, but was very good.

Normally I'd be slightly suspicious of anything that is a 'wellness tea' as hyped-up quick-fix type thinking. I'm not sure why this is called a Skinny tea, but the tea itself is a really interesting blend of a whole bunch of different ingredients and makes for a nice, smooth cup.

For the sake of fairness, I did risk a few sips of a tea I would otherwise avoid (like the plague, lol). The flavor is quite pleasant; however, I am not really a fan of 'coffee' flavors, such as creme brulee, in tea. For the effects of mate on my heart, it is a big no. For the sake of senna leaf on this cranky old digestive tract, again, no. However, for those with a robust digestive tract it is probably a useful health tea. Brave sippers, enjoy!

This blend has a few ingredients that I'm not familiar with. The dry tea has an almost savory or salty scent, but it doesn't taste that way after it is brewed. A few minutes after the final sip, I can still taste or feel it on my tongue. It's not necessarily a spicy taste but kind of a buzz on my tongue. I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

The taste of this blend is very pleasant. The crème brûlée/maple flavor is predominant, with a light herbal flavor in the background. Keeping this on hand as an digestive “herbal helper” would be a much more pleasant solution!

Skinny Tea was perfect to consume on Ash Wednesday! My Fat Tuesday belly was stuffed with paczki and pizza so Skinny Tea to the rescue. The flavor profile was delicious, fall like tastes. I agree with the blender to add a glass of H2O after sipping this tea. If you’re sensitive to senna, take precautions. Otherwise, sip, sip away! Note: the effects of this tea may fall under the delayed reaction category. It took about 9 hours to show how it deserves the name Skinny!

I didn't know what to expect from this tea whatsoever with the advisories. It's surprisingly sweet. Originally, I thought it smelled a bit of maple, but as it cools, I'm getting a caramel brulee flavor. Added a tiny bit of sugar (maybe 1/4 tsp)

★★★★★

I'm liking the mapley flavor of this one. It's sweet and delicious, and a nice post workout brew.

This is a mild, non-complex tea with no call out notes to my palate. My husband detected some cinnamon but not much more than that. Overall, a subtle tea - not great but not bad either.

I really like the taste of this tea! All the flavors seem to be well balanced and work well together. Particularly, I noticed a maple taste. Since I don’t know how my system may or may not be affected by the senna, I’m sipping slowly in case there are any issues. It’s delicious!

I'm reading all the other reviews for this tea and I'm thinking my review might be heavily skewed because of my general preferences. I did not get any hint of creme brulee or pancake with this! I tasted this as part of the communiTEA, so this isn't something I reached for on my own. I've had senna before and neither the flavor, nor the after effects have much of an impact for me. While I like oolong, I am not a fan of green tea, dandelion or mate, and for me, those in combination did not equal more than a sum of their parts. Unlike most green teas, which taste grassy to me, this one tasted more like weeds. I finished the whole cup rather than watering the sink, but I will not be reaching for more.

Sipping along with the CommuniTEA: strong maple syrup (creme brulee) fragrance noticed from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F, I notice more caramel and earthy oolong with subtle ginger notes. When I take a sip, I get earthy notes followed by sweet maple syrup notes with herbal nuances. It is a quite sweet on the finish with long lingering pecan pie flavor on the palate. This is more like a dessert tea to me.

not my most favorite tea. the flavors were there, but it was just a little too earthy for my tastes, im not a huge mate person so that may explain it.

I adore the flavor of this tea. I don't see maple on the ingredients, but it definitely tastes like buttermilk pancakes topped with maple syrup to me. I tried my first cup unsweetened, but will add a little sweetener and milk to my second steep since I think it would only enhance the flavor. No unpleasantness from the senna and dandelion so far.

I can really smell the caramel when I opened the pack. I enjoyed it and would drink again, but not my personal favorite.

I was expecting this to taste medicinal but I was wrong! This is a dessert tasting tea thanks to the brûlée flavor and cinnamon. I can see how it would be a great complement to a diet and exercise regimen.

This is a delicious tea with a sweet taste. The creme brulee comes through when you open the packet and especially in the taste. Mellow, no aftertaste, just delicious. (4 minutes at 212 degrees)

I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I have had terrible experiences in the past with other “skinny” teas, especially with the flavors. This one was spicy and tasty and was a much more enjoyable experience all around.

CommuniTEA Sample: Really, really wish this tea had a diffferent name - but I digress. :-) It has a nice aroma as I opened the package. Nice balance of flavors. I can taste maple, cinnamon, creme brulee. All subtle and lovely together. I didn't want to try more than one steep as I was nervous what the effect might be. Good to have on hand if needed though.

I’m not about to gulp down a cuppa when the tea advertises laxative effects. No help needed in that department, thank you very much. I will keep my little Communitea packet around for when the time is right.

A fine medley of warm scents in today's CT packet, most notably cinnamon and mate. The colors were earthy and bright, and I spied a long zing of orange peel and a smattering of apple pieces - lookin' good!

The aromas blended beguilingly upon steeping, really opening up to the heat. Ginger, orange, and cinnamon all awaken, and the mate is present beneath them with a nutty, almost woody scent (and taste) that runs beneath and ties them all neatly together. Further synergy is achieved with a bit of brown sugar, which also cheers and brightens the apple.

The great thing about this blend is the way the flavors shift as it cools. While we start with a strong zing of spice and citrus while hot, as the cup cools the apple really starts to step up, and the softer oolong and green tea flavors also come gently into the scene, mellowing everyone into a more harmonious balance. The grassier green works well with the woody/nutty flavor of the mate, giving each sip a lighter finish than we started with. A thoroughly pleasant cup from start to finish.

This is enjoyable, but a bit syrupy for my taste. Creamy maple flavors are strong throughout - very similar to maple creme oolong.

I was not expecting to like this tea however, it was very tastey! Dry leaves aroma smelled like maple pancakes! I did not aadd any additional sweetener as it has a light sweet flavor on its own. Cinnamon, maple, lightly earthy flavors blend well together. Enjoyable blend.

I sipped this mostly to see how it tasted as I don’t like mate or senna leaf. I was hesitant to drink the whole cup as these type of metabolism teas usually make me jittery and need the bathroom a BIT too much more than intended! I’m a hard pass on the concept based on past experience. Overall, the taste is pretty nice with the oolong minerality creating an interesting dance with the creme brulee and cinnamon flavors. If your body can handle this kind of boosting, “clean out” tea then I would recommend this one based on the flavor. It isn’t medicinal or hippie-esque, as many can be. Happy Sipping!

I actually really enjoyed this tea although I was skeptical at first. I am drinking it plain for now as I am really enjoying it but I might add some sugar when I get to the bottom of the cup. Does that defeat the 'skinny' effect? LOL
