I was ddesperately in search of sleep teas as I have trouble sleeping without an aide. This did the trick as do most valerian blends. I definitely taste the cherry and mint.
One cup before bed makes for an ideal way to unwind and lull yourself into a deep slumber.

Definitely helped me fall asleep. Flavor was nice as well.
The aroma is definitely very earthy and pungent. Almost like sweaty feet, but don't let that fool you. The flavor makes up for it.
Love this tea! We were looking to replace a popular grocery store brand and get away from tea bags and this tea is even better. We love the earthy aroma and can even get two steeps out of a single teaspoon. My husband enjoys it every evening.
It's not a bad tea, but nothing stands out about it for me. For sleepiness and calmness I find that peppermint or chamomile by itself is more effective.
Great, relaxing tea.
I love to brew a cup at night for me and my wife. Helps us to wind down after a long day.
Great taste...can add a bit of honey if needed.
A relaxing tea before bed. Not my favorite tasting tea and not sure it helped me sleep but maybe drinking regularly before bed would provide better results. Probably not one I would order again but will finish using the sample. I love you can get sample sizes to try before ordering larger amounts!
Excellent tea. I am not a fan of chamomile, and this tea only hints at the flavor. It tastes superb outright and helps me get into a state of calm that helps me drift asleep at bedtime.
I wanted to like this so badly because I've been dealing with terrible insomnia for years. Partly due to PTSD but in general as well. I could not finish a cup of this. It's not as bad as a pepper tea I've had that my wife and I nicknamed Lich's Breath and I could at least down a sip for a minute without needing to run for something else to drink, but it's not drinkable for me. Although it did taste at least a little better than it smelled. The description I've heard of 'gym socks' feels accurate in smell and taste for me. I'm usually not a big fan of any mint either unless blended really well. And I really am not fond of it here. All the woody gym socks of Valerian and the weird freshness of mint, combined with the earthy chamomile. Not for me. However, my wife likes this tea a bit and took my cup when I wouldn't drink anymore. I'll continue in my quest to make my own sleep blend that doesn't have those as the dominating smell/flavor. At least I have the luck/unluck where caffeine makes me sleepy. I have Valerian in a jar so maybe I can find something I can add it to so that it's not as offputting.
Update! I decided to try this herbal blend again after a couple of years and this time, it doesn't seem to have the issues I had before with clogging up my fine-mesh tea strainer. It is a wonderful calming tea to drink before going to bed.
I really like this herbal blend, other than the mess it makes in my tea strainer! I'm not a big fan of honeybush. I thought it'd be a nice tea to help me get to sleep late evenings, and while it does that, I've found myself regretting that I've brewed it when trying to clean out my very, extra-fine-meshed tea strainer. Sigh... All in all, if you can get past the straining problem, it's a very nice tea!
A good sleepy tea, light peppermint, not overpowering. refreshing and not too sweet, love the addition on valerian root
It’s a nice blend to relax before bed. Would go great with some honey for added sweetness :)
A great sleepy tea! Can't tell if it works or coincidence but both times after drinking this delicious tea I fell asleep within an hour.
Drink it every night!! My kids love it, too, helps us all calm our minds
I love this tea right before bed. It really helps me relax and sleep through the night.
I initially found this while on vacation in a small quaint village in NJ and I've been hooked ever since. I found it here and I will order again and again. As an over thinker, I often find myself awake with insomnia. This tea really helps me fall asleep and I don't think I can live without it. I also like it during the day when I'm extra stressed out. It keeps me a bit more level.
works decently well to get me to sleep, my go to is sleepytime extra. I'm still experimenting with this tea as a sleep aid but it does seem to work after a decent amount of time. The taste is not the best in my opinion so i like to mix flavored herbal tea bags in with the 40 winks.
Its not my favorite for taste, the valerian is strong but the rest of the tea is pleasant and nicely balanced, however, I do find it relaxing.
The spearmint in this one is strong and I was so thankful for it when I was sick the past week. It's a great blend of all kinds of flavors. My daughter wanted nothing to do with this one, and it's not one I'll drink daily (I have asthma and chamomile is not always asthma's best friend), but I really enjoy this one particularly in the evenings after a stressful day.
This tea is pleasantly light and balanced, with a moderate undertone of valerian root.
I prefer intense flavor, so I usually prep a bag with around 3 Tbsp, then steep it at least twice (it's worth noting I tend to use 24+ fl oz mugs most frequently, so there's more liquid per mug than a standard 12 fl oz counterpart).
I found the second steep for this to be particularly pleasant, and the relaxation effect quite nice. I have enjoyed this both hot and cold.
It is light, refreshing, gently floral, and has a creamy undertone with a small pop of fruity vibes. Definitely a good wind-down tea, whether or not it does anything for you as far as sleep goes.
I really enjoy this tea. I’m not a fan of mint in my tea and was hesitant to try this, but it has a comforting balance of chamomile, herbs and a light cream essence to it. The mint is very mild and doesn’t overpower like it can in most teas. There is so much more complexity to it than just a basic chamomile bedtime tea. I find myself reaching for it nightly.
I won't lie, I never knew chamomile had the scent that it does, and it is not great, but, I still found this tea very helpful as a great relaxing drink to help aid with sleep, I would buy it again
Relaxing herbal blend I enjoy at night. I enjoy it a lot!
Perfect cup of tea to unwind with after a long day!! I enjoyed this tea it helped me relax before getting ready for bed. Cup of pure relaxation!
Love this!!! Tastes like a smoky evening in summer when you can smell the flowers but your campfire is filling the air. Earthy but floral and so good. Also helps you slumber so sweetly! Love it!
It may not be the best tasting sleep tea we've had (valerian is impossible to cover), but it works REALLY well. Update: Rose petals temper the smell of the valerian! Still working on the taste, but this is a big improvement.
This tea was delicious and a provided a good sleep!
Quite tasty and offers a sound restful sleep. I have given it to several family members and they also really enjoyed it. It does not make you instantly drowsy, but an hour or so before bed helps you to slip into a good night’s sleep.
One of my favorite blends! Will definitely be buying this one again. I drink it every night and it helps me sleep
beautiful visually and a nice soft yet complex herbal blend for a brighter bedtime tea
Wonderful tea. Very calming and relaxing to have before going to bed. Highly recommend
Absolutely love this tea, especially the lavender flavor. Very calming to drink at night.
I have a very hard time, falling asleep and staying asleep. When I make a mug of this tea, I’m out like a light. I steep it a little longer for a stronger chamomile flavor because I like chamomile. Very good for the insomniac
This tea has really help me get quality sleep and shortened my 'wind down' time.
For those who haven't used Valerian root, I'd advise discussing with health care provider. Also to note, it can have pungent smell, but has worked beautifully for me in this tea. I'd recommend giving this tea a try for those who need a little push getting a good night rest.
This is a really tasty blend. I love all the ingredients that come together really well. The valerian and chamomile are very relaxing.
Soooo relaxing….
Tastes strongly of chamomile and lavender, but all the flavors blend in well and are tasted, except for the cherry— I don’t really taste any of that I don’t think
40 Winks is my absolute favorite tea from Adagio. I completely adore this tea( and I've found that by also ordering a jar of valerian from the pantry) and adding an extra 1/2 a tsp to this tea it is the best sleep cure out there! The scent of this absolute perfection of a mix of teas and herbs is addictive and the best scent I've ever breathed.
This tea definitely helps me to have a better night of sleep.
I'm looking for a miracle to help with sleep, but there are no miracles. This tasty tea is delicious and a great alternative to other companies' products that use plastic teabags.
This tea did not do the trick for me. I found the taste to be rather abrasive. I do not use honey or milk in my teas so perhaps that would have helped
Those who typically enjoy sleepytime type teas will likely enjoy this more than me. There wasn't any bad flavors, in fact I would say it was a bit pleasant, but I was hoping that some of the other ingredients that were listed would have provided more flavor. Chamomile is the main flavor. The spearmint and lavender notes were hard to find. Cherry is listed as an ingredient, but I didn't taste that at all in it.
I enjoy the taste of this tea, however It did not make me tired.
Some evenings straight chamomile is just too much for me. '40 winks' gives me my chamomile fix with a flavorful twist.
This tea has a very light and pleasant taste. I’ve never had a minty tasking chamomile and I have to say i absolutely loved it!
I tried this as part of my CommuniTEA box and loved it so much that I ordered it. You taste the spearmint, but it’s an enhancer rather than the star of the show. The chamomile carries the day transitioning to a mild lavender finish. I do think it helps me sleep, but that might be solely because I’m so content after a cup of 40 Winks.
Great taste and helped me to fall asleep quickly. Highly recommend for a comforting and soothing blend to help you sleep
My husband loves 40 winks It helps him fall asleep easily every night.
I blasted through a sample of this, having ~4 cups before bed for a while. I’ll say, my dreams were incredibly odd, but my sleep was less easily interrupted! The taste is alright and I appreciate the heftier sample for this. Still not sure if I’ll get more.
Absolutely delicious. Calms the mind and help you rest.
When my father and I were really, REALLY sick, neither of us could sleep at all. After the third day of not being able to sleep I made us both a cup of this at around 9pm. We were both basically knocked out until near noon the next day. This stuff WORKS if you have trouble sleeping. With a little honey it's really, really nice.
