New critical update 8/25/25 below.
I had the original Teforia for years before it quit and I loved it. Was super excited when I heard they were releasing it again and I purchased and received mine last week. It worked great for a couple of days and now it's not working right, the app isn't responding right, all the recipe's are just gone from the app, and I've tried for 2 days to get help from Adagio. This is INCREDIBLY frustrating and a horrible business model to not have a reachable customer service department. I need help. I just want to return this one for one that works right, and It's very frustrating when you cannot speak with a human for help.
8/25/25 Update: Another issue with a repeat glitch. The device got stuck mid boiling cycle and disconnected from either WiFi or Bluetooth, or had an internal error. This caused it to have a runaway mid boil. I had to quickly turn off the device as steam was beginning to flow out from both underneath the device, as well as from the bottom of the water resovoir due to the extreme building pressure. This was the only way to stop the device and prevent a potential disaster from a pressurized billing vessel in complete runaway.
Upon restarting the machine, no brew cycles would continue, and instead, would continue to try to pull more water into the boiling chamber. This did nothing but force even more pressurized hot water into the boiling chamber.
The only way I found a fix for this was to manually pull the reservoir, and let approximately half a cup of boiling hot water eject out of the back of the unit with great force. Now the device is running quite different with a much louder motor, what sounds to be air coming in from a broken internal seal, and burns on the hands from having to stop the decice.
Had my face been near this, I would have suffered serious burns. This is UNACCEPTABLE
This device has almost no redundancy features, and has a very poorly designed application that does NOT properly connect or maintain connection with either WiFi or Bluetooth. The fact that personal injury was a possibility from this malfunction is VERY disturbing to me.
The only thing I have thought of being an issue is the fact my WiFi has band steering for 2.4 and 5Ghz networks. Yet this is something EVERY router has now. This should not be a factor in why this device is so unstable. And now, hazardous.

My first Teforia machine had problems, but Adagio Teas replaced it for me, and I could not be happier with Teforia now. The results are fantastic, so much better than the infusions I used to make, because the tea leaves are infused for the perfect amount of time. The agitation function prevents the leaves from clumping at the bottom of the infuser (the globe you see at the top of the machine), and encourages exposure of the leaves to the water. It works with Adagio Teas (certain of them) in boxes with RFID tags, but also with loose leaf teas from Adagio and other manufacturers. Yes, for non-RFID teas, you must use the app, but I really like that I don't have to carry my phone into the kitchen; I can put the tea leaves in the machine and return to my home office to identify the tea and start the infusing process. Or I can use a tea with an RFID tag. I can leave the machine running, return to work-at-home, and my phone and computer alert me when the tea is ready.
Today, I finally tried second infusion, and that works great too. If you leave the infuser (globe) in place after emptying the carafe, you can press the flashing leaf button to start a second infusion, and I was delighted to find that the second infusion was the same shade as the first! I had tried second infusions before—without Teforia—and always found them to be nearly clear and quite weak-tasting.
I still await the ability to make a tea that Teforia doesn't know by entering temperature and timing settings from its box directions into the app, but currently we're limited to the recipes they've put into the app.
This appliance was stratospherically expensive (and probably overpriced) until Adagio Teas purchased the company and dramatically reduced the price. I am very happy with my Teforia because every cup is perfect.

This machine seemed to work decently well in the beginning but has recently become terrible and we haven't even had it for two months. The app will sometimes disconnect from the machine and our Wi-Fi, which is quite annoying but fairly quick to reconnect when it happens. The main issue is that it began leaking slightly when making tea over the last week or two. The leaking has only increased and become an absolute mess to deal with. We are incredibly frustrated and disappointed in the product and Adagio after paying so much money and being unable to return.

This thing makes the best cup of tea I've had in my life. I think the game changer is the multiple infusions with agitation as it brews. A typical black tea will infuse 3 times and take about 7-9 minutes total. In my life I've made tea thousands of times with various amounts of tea, steeping times, temperatures, etc. But no combination has matched the Teforia. It brings out all the flavor of the tea without any extra bitterness. I feel like I'm able to enjoy delicate teas for the first time. I've never had tea made the Gongfu Cha style, but I imagine this is as close as you can get from a convenient tea-machine, and I simply do not have the time in my life to Gongfu Cha every cup of tea.
That's the positives. There are negatives. First, it can only make one cup of tea at a time. If I want to make tea for my family or guests, I can't really use the Teforia. It would take 7-9 minutes to make a second cup and another 7-9 minutes for a third. Second, I brewed a Pu-erh once and the flavor sort of stuck around through the next few cups. Ideally I'd love a second dedicated tea basin for Pu-erh or flavored teas so I can still brew with them but not ruin the flavor of the next cup. I don't think Adagio sells separate parts unfortunately. Third, this thing is WAY TOO DIGITAL. For most teas you need the app to start the infusion. This thing would be a lot more convenient if it had a touchscreen or at least a way to program a set of buttons (like a cd changer in the car, hit 1 for formosa oolong, 2 for hao ya, etc). Instead if you forget your phone, no tea for you. Or if your wifi is down, no tea for you. And it seems to only connect to my wifi half the time. Easily fixed by restarting the app but that's still annoying. Fourth, the first teforia they sent was a bit broken. It leaked out of at least 2 different spots. I had to constantly clean the outside and put down a series of paper towels to protect my kitchen. Thankfully Adagio was great about the return and the second unit has been leak-free. But that all sounds like a bit of a headache doesn't it? It is, but it's worth it because the tea is just that good.
In sum, I'd highly recommend the teforia for those who can afford it and have the patience to deal with app-based tea making. I hope Adagio keeps working on the app and fixes some of these connectivity issues, or even better finds a way to make this work without the app. And I hope it lasts long enough to justify the price. This thing is just amazing and I want it in my life forever. Thank you for resurrecting this tea maker and bringing it into my life Adagio!

I love this machine. Just a great way to brew tea for one or two people fast and to perfect. You don t need the pods because you have the app. you can throw any loose leaf tea in it. NEW VERSION IS EVEN BETTER. NEW APP.

The Teforia makes the best cup of tea I've ever had, period. It's fast, easy to use, and visually beautiful. What else can I say? It does have problems, but all of those problems are existential. First, YOU CAN'T USE THE TEFORIA IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SMARTPHONE. Yes you can use the little cups without your phone, but the true usability comes from the Teforia app. Also I don't think Adagio will be selling those cups in the future, but more on that later. This brings us to the second problem, the app itself. The app works great. It has preset settings for many teas with the ability to add your own. So what's the problem? If you are not already aware, the Teforia is not an Adagio brand device. Teforia was a company with the grand idea of making a luxury, automatic, tea-making device. The Teforia launched with the price tag of $900, or $1500 reports vary, and promptly went out of business. As of writing, the Teforia app was last updated 8 months ago. The problem is uncertainty. I don't know if the app is being maintained. If the app is not being updated it will eventually stop working on modern smartphones, probably sooner than you think. I'm under the impression Adagio is simply selling off the unsold Teforia's. I don't know if they have any plans to update the app. I don't know how long the app will continue to work on my smartphone. I simply don't know. This is the problem with the Teforia. On the surface it is the best tea maker money can buy. It is changing the way I drink and make tea for the better. But underneath is a ticking time bomb of uncertainty. If the app isn't updated, I will eventually lose the ability to use my Teforia. This is the only reason I'm not giving it five stars.
