I've been using this to brew my single-serving samples and CommuniTEA packets, and it's the perfect size for me, as someone who prefers stronger tea.
I love this! I've been wanting a tasting set for a while, and I love the glass so I can watch the leaves brew! I have a glass gaiwan as well, watching the tea leaves unfurl is one of my favorite parts of drinking tea. It makes the perfect little cup of tea, and while the glass gets hot, the rim stays cool so it's easy to drink from. I also have to give props to whoever packaged it. My order was not treated kindly in shipment, but the tasting set arrived in perfect condition!
Amazing for that first time you try a tea, when you don't want to make a lot of it but you want to be able to get a good idea as to what it taste like! It allows you to try a small cup using only a portion of the leaves. If you like it, it also allows you to see what the tea is like when you re steep it! Overall, really cool little set to contrast some of the huge mugs and teapots I also own!
Reasonably-priced tasting sets are hard to come by, so I was excited to get this set. All in all, it's a nice set, but leaves a little to be desired. The box suggests you can balance the tasting cup on top of the infuser. However, it doesn't fit in a truly secure or stable way; when I try to balance them, it feels a little precarious. In addition, this glass gets quite hot. I can't imagine brewing a black tea in this vessel and trying to pour it. So far I've only used it with green tea, which is brewed at a much lower temperature, and I still found it difficult to pour due to how hot the steeping vessel was.
This is my first small cup set for making tea. I've really enjoyed the flexibility of being able to try different temperatures or brew times with small amounts of tea to see what I like the most. These cups are gorgeous as well. Just watch your fingers if you don't have server hands! These get hot real quick!
I love this! It’s the perfect size for trying out samples. I will use it often!
Gets got hot fast but if you hold it right it does the job
Just a perfect little set to watch the tea steep and sip just a little to truly experience tasting notes, one of my favorite vessels!
This set has been very handy when I want to try a new tea. Easily cleaned and stacks to store.
This has to be one of my favorite teaware items. This is helping me get through all the sample packs of tea I have. It's so easy to clean too! I'm going to purchase a few more so my husband and I can have tea tasting date nights :)
I really wanted to like this set. I do love the cute little cup, quite a lot actually. I also love being able to look at my tea leaves while steeping. The glass does get hot, so you have to handle it lightly (my husband is thinking of buying heat-resistant gloves). It doesn't hold a full 8 oz, so I have to remind myself the time/volume needed for a 5 oz brew. The holes are a bit big, so it is good to use this for large-leaf teas which won't leave extra bits in your tea. And the strainer covers only half of the steeper, so you have to pour a bit slower than usual (thus, slightly hotter fingers.) My set arrived with the strainer chipped on both sides. Adagio CS was great and replaced it, but the replacement also arrived with the strainer chipped on one side, but still usable once the glass shards were rinsed off. Overall it is a lovely set which I enjoy using for special teas, and a bit better than an average gaiwan.
I have wanted one of these forever! It was a Mother's Day Gift from my husband and he was so excited when the adagio box was on the front porch. I have been excited to try just a teaspoon's worth of tea at a time for the days I want to just try a new tea or try several to see what I want to bring to work or to the beach. It's so quick & easy to clean as well and looks great with my other glassware as well. Thank you, Adagio. Another hit!
The perfect little set to make sure I take the time for tea everyday! So easy to throw a few leaves in, add water and pour. I find it helps me take a moment to enjoy the leaves unfolding and the color of the tea. Definitely a favorite!
I bought this as a gift for a cousin at xmas along with a personal tea blend. it was a risk as I'm not sure she's a tea drinker but she seemed excited about it :)
This set is a lovely single serving set with modern lines that displays the beauty of the leaf as it unfurls. It works beautifully for so gongfu sessions!
Really love this simple gaiwan-ish way to see some of the beautiful teas and to make simple steeps to compare different teas. Highly recommend! @adagioteas
FANTASTIC. a must have for tea collectors, its so fun to sit myself down with a full kettle and all my teas lined up. i just sit there for hours at a time drinking all my teas at once. i just drank 14 cups of tea in one sitting with this thing, and feel like i could kill god. 10/10 recommend this product.
Perfect for tasting a new tea, or for the individual tea packets. It's very useful if you like trying new teas.
Perfect size for small tastings. Plus, the cup is great to hold the excess from my Gaiwan when gongfu brewing. Happy sipping!
I have a few of these, and I use them often. They are great for sampling tea, and I love how the scent of the tea fills the cup (when you have it covering the base while steeping). It can be an immersive experience— especially with those traditional teas (as opposed to blends).
I took off some stars because they seem to be quite breakable during transit. The strainer on two of the cups I ordered arrived chipped, with the glass shards still in the cup. If you buy these, make sure you examine them closely.
My experience with Adagio customer service was excellent as always though. They responded to my service ticket within the hour, and they replaced the damaged product at no cost.
I just started drinking tea within the last two weeks, with this tasting set coming as part of my initial order. It is fantastic for sampling a single cup of tea at a time. I have nothing bad to say about it. Pour your teaspoon or single portion of tea into the strainer cup, add properly temped water, let steep for required time, pour into tasting glass, take a nice big whiff and a little sip, and you'll find yourself immersed in the world of tea.
This is a lovely set and works well for its intended purpose. However, it does have a few faults. They are not deal breakers, but did bump off a star. The picture on the side of the box makes it look like the drinking glass can be balanced upside down on the pot, but it will not sit in that fashion. It sits unbalanced and wiggly. Because it is glass, it is very hot to the touch which makes it a little complicated to pour. Finally, the holes are large and teas that have smaller bits or dust need to be poured through a second strainer (the matcha strainer found on this site works really well for this purpose).
Really clever idea, especially for communitea and other samples. Minus a star because holy moly the glass is so hot to touch!
I adore this glass tasting set! It's not only cute but functional and great quality. It's a nice way to sample all my teas.
Very nice set. Only downside is that the cup doesn't fit snugly upside-down on the brewing cup. Would be nice if it sealed and didn't tip over so that the brewing tea was kept warmer.
A nice little set, great for an introduction to gaiwan brewing. I love that I can try a small amount of tea, especially one I ve never tried before, without having to brew a whole big cup. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it s a lot of fun. I do wish the glass was a little thicker, as it does get decently hot. My first set arrived with the strainer cup chipped, but Adagio replaced it really quickly.
Perfect to try :test variety of tea s. Beautiful set to show off for friends.
Perfect size for a friend to sample a tea, or for a single cup for myself. The holes are a little big so I have to use an extra strainer to catch bits. Otherwise it’s easy to use and clean.
This is good for what it is and I really like that I can see the colors of the tea so well. The built in strainer works fine for most teas. The glass does seem to be really thin so I am worried about breaking it but it has held up so far.
Love this little set, and has encouraged me to sample a lot more teas as it’s is minimal fuss.
I got this to do some tasting and be able to watch the tea leave unfurl. I find it really fun.
My set arrived in perfect condition. None of the holes were blocked, as I'd worried they might be from reading other reviews. I will warn you that this set is fantastic for larger leaves, but finer teas will leave you with a lot of tiny bits in your cup, so you might want to use a finer strainer for those teas.
I've mostly been using this to test a variety of oolongs, and for that purpose it has been just perfect.
Cute. Great for gongfu cha. I'm currently using it for oolong sessions.
A easy to use and practical way to offer a sample to a friend without making a full cup. Also great when trying a new blend.
I really love this tasting glass. It's great for when I want to sample teas. Sadly when I received it one of the glasses was broken. But Adagio did a great job at sending a replacement.
Works exactly as I had hoped. Attached glass strainer, be aware of that, everything else is obvious, what you see is what you get.
I absolutely love using this glass set for tasting! It allows you to see the leaves unfurl as they steep from all angles. The cup is perfectly shaped to allow you to smell the tea before you taste. One problem I see is that not all of the holes are punched all the way through. I will definitely be ordering more of these if the holes are fixed!
I love this little tasting set so much. I have been struggling with resurgent chronic anxiety lately and I decided I needed a ritual to calm myself down. I got myself this little tasting set and some tea samples, and when I need to get back into a clear and calm headspace I take the time to make myself a tea sample and really enjoy the experience of it. It's a very small cup, but for me it's the perfect size to just take a break, savor the smell and sip it slowly to bring myself back down. I'm so sad that my tasting cup got broken recently, but I loved it enough that I'm getting myself another set, and I'll just have a spare strainer cup if something happens to the first one.
Mine came with a little chip, but I really don t care, it s so small it s barely noticeable. This is so fun for when you want to be pretentious and act like you know a lot about tea for people you want to impress. You just make a little bit of tea, sip it, and spout nonsense, and it s totally believable.
I am obsessed with this tasting set. When I first purchased it, I didn t even realize that the steeper cup has its own built-in filter, but that is my favorite feature. I never wind up with any tea leaves in my cup! Also, steeping in glass is one of the best ways to steep & serve tea; the true essence of the tea definitely comes across in every cup. I will always have at least one of these tasting sets on hand.
Perfect size to sample a tea without committing to a bigger cup, I enjoyed watching the tea color build as it was steeping. The holes are mostly effective at filtering, but does allow some particulate to come through. Also the glass is hot to touch when brewing hotter teas.
The tasting set is perfectly designed to enjoy the agony of the leaf while awaiting the offerings of the tea leaf. I have many cupping sets but enjoy using this one the most because of the easiness of pouring the liquor into a cup. The lid tilts back just enough to make pouring a delight.
Perfect for when you want just a little taste of a tea or having a friend try a new tea from your tea collection
Well made and decent price. I always purchase samples before ordering larger amounts. This is the perfect size for exploring tea for one person.
I like this steeper but i don't love it. its great for small amounts of tea, especially since i like have three different flavors at once. but when i place the cup over the strainer cup, it doesn't sit pretty and i worry about it tilting over since its only resting on the inner strainer.
I ordered 2 sets and so glad I did. I love being able to taste small amounts of tea and comparing them with each other. I also love having 2 sets so I can do tasting parties with my family and friends.
I did have a problem with the shipping, they kept coming chipped but through emailing the company they adjusted the way the packing was done and finally got the sets ! I have to say that the Adagio company is very willing to work with their customers to correct an issue. Very impressed!
Unfortunately, the first one I ordered arrived damaged with a corner of the glass strainer broken. Adagio sent out a new one at no cost. The second one was worse. I'm not asking for a third. However, since I still had the first tasting cup, I decided to try to file down the sharp edges. It worked pretty well, though the cup will not sit in the pot since there is too much glass missing from the sieve. I will say I was pleased with the way the product worked, though certainly not pleased with the quality. If you're willing to risk paying a high price for a damaged product, this item works exactly as stated.
I won't waste my money again, though.
I bought this hoping for a cheap alternative to a gaiwan. It being clear is cool, but it's just not cutting it for me.
It's okay quality. Some of the holes are not fully perforated. I'm not a fan. Should've saved my money and bought something nicer.
