Rooibos Customer Reviews

Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

It's hard to review this because it's just a basic Rooibos. What can I say? If you like Rooibos, you'll like this, too.

I love to add this rooibos to various herbal fruit teas when made to be consumed iced. Sometimes I brew it up to 10 minutes at 212 degrees and it still does not disappoint!

Fabulous, rich, smooth replacement for black tea now that I'm cutting caffeine out for my health. Can't overstep. Yummy with milk and honey, but by no means needs them!

This is a really good base to make your own tea blends @adagioteas

When I need to take a break from black teas, rooibos is the way to go for me, I love the color, the aroma!!!

★★★★★

Tried side by side with a grocery store rooibos, this is a clear winner. Far more flavorful than what I’m used to, in a very good way!

on its own, rooibos is lacking. its a little too strong and medicinal sometimes, even though i consider myself a fan of rooibos. good mixed, a little much by itself. @adagioteas

One of my favorites. Very delicate flavor. Goes well with almost everything!

★★★★★

A really nice caffeine free herbal infusion. Really enjoy rooibos by itself and especially in blends as it adds a sweetness. Easy to brew even when I forget it is steeping, it still turns out tasty.

I have tried flavored versions of Rooibos and Honeybush before. This year I decided to see what they are like plain. They both have a mild pleasant taste, and an even better aftertaste. As you would expect from the name, Honeybush is a bit sweeter.

★★★★★

Never understood why people refer to rooibos as an 'acquired taste', it's always tasted just straight good to me. Adagio's rooibos is my go-to; I don't bother buying elsewhere. Impossible to over-steep.

I like rooibos well enough but I prefer to blend it with other flavors. This is a great base for blends. @adagioteas

Classic rooibus- fresh, yummy, one of my favorite teas when I don't want caffeine.

Good, but kind of flat compared to other brands I have tried. It's missing some brightness on the nose and in the finish. There is a faint hibiscus note in some rooibos that I miss here. Solution: just add a tiny bit of hibiscus to you infuser. Or more! The two go great together.

No medicinal notes or bitterness here. Just warm, fresh wood spice and vanilla.

A beautiful base for other flavors or a lovely warm cup of decaf on it's own.

I love Rooibos tea. The flavor is complex but smooth.

This is a caffeine free tea so it is my 'goto' afternoon and evening tea. I love it with a dash of pumpkin or ginger spice. It's in the spice section of the grocery stores.

I have very irritable and dry skin. So my friend recommended this tea to me. I will try to drink every day. The sent is good even with cold water though.

A nice classic cup of red tea. Silky smooth feel that's perfect for capping off the day. I have to steep this one REALLY long to get a really full-bodied flavor.

This is my favorite plain rooibos and pairs nicely with honey or added to any other rooibos flavor

I'm not too experienced with rooibos, so don't take me as an expert, but I enjoyed this tea. It was notable for its tobacco aroma, which I found delightful, but might put some people off. Note that the leaves are particularly fine and thin, so if you don't enjoy pieces in your tea, I recommend getting a fine strainer--you can find them in barware sections, as it's a common tool for cocktail making.

Many of my favorite blends are rooibos, so it's no surprise that this tea is one of my classic cups. Good to always have on hand.

This was a very decent cup of tea, only giving it 4 stars because it was a little too bitter for me, I’m going to experiment with different steeping times and see if that helps

A perfect, classic Rooibos tea, something to always have on hand. Great hot or iced, with a natural light sweetness. Also goes well with a splash of any type of milk.

A really good rooibos tea! Nutty, a little sweet. I like to drink it with milk.

★★★★★

mmm rooibos is getting the job done:) Nothing to complain about here.

I have never tried rooibos teas before. I wasn't fond of this. It has a subtle flavor. It didn't have a nutty flavor that I expected reading about rooibos teas, it tasted more herbal to me. I am considering trying the flavored rooibos teas as I purchased from another location a blood orange rooibos tea and I enjoyed that very much. I am coming to realize after trying a variety of teas that I may have a high preference for flavored teas.

No bad - a bit mellow for my liking, but it was a pleasant cup of tea. I plan on trying different variations of rooibos tea to see what I prefe.

More medicinal than honeybush but it’s pretty good.

★★★★★

Very yummy and smooth. Even my wife who has tried other brands rooibos and disliked them likes this one.

★★★★★

I had tried Rooibos from few other places and never really liked them. But I love this Rooibos tea. It makes a perfect cup with equal mix of Honeybush or Honeybush Vanilla tea.

★★★★★

Rooibos has and forever will be one of my all time favorite teas. It’s got a nutty deep flavor that is satisfying to those looking for a substitute for the caffeinated teas. Forgiving tea that won’t get bitter if you over steep.

I've never had rooibos before this and I'm new fan. Slighty sweet and earthy flavor. Will definitely order more.

★★★★★

A hearty rooibos which I enjoy at any time of day. It is a perfect calming bedtime brew that still has a robust flavor, compared to many other herbal un-caffeinated teas. A stronger brew (with slightly more tea, at 212F) goes very well with a dash of cream or milk. I enjoy ordering a large bag of the plain rooibos because it allows addition of other flavors (e.g. a dash of vanilla, cinnamon, etc.).

A pretty nice drink, I usually drink tea, and for this, the taste, I would call a bit woody, but sweet, and almost.. Closer to coffee than tea.

Had to switch away from caffeine and begrudgingly gave this a try. You know... it's not bad. Throw at least three teaspoons in the kettle and it ends up brewing a warm, comforting elixir that actually packs some subtlety. I think I might have found a new go-to.

★★★★★

I've found that it's hard to find pure rooibos so I'm very glad that Adagio has it. This is a great non caffeinated tea option for late afternoons and evening.

Just what it should be. Pure rooibos flavor. Love it.

★★★★★

I really like rooibos. I bought it to enjoy in the afternoons and evenings when I can't have caffeine. I also like having it on hand as ingredients in mixing our own blends at home. I have children at home and they really enjoy having the basic tea mixing herbs to create their own blends every morning. We call it 'advanced potion making class.' It's a lot of fun. They get to learn about the herbs individually and through their blending experiments.

Growing up in South Africa, I enjoyed rooibos tea when it was hardly known outside the country. Having lived in the US for a long time now, I was pleased when rooibos became available here and I've been delighted to discover that Adagio Tea's rooibos is even fresher and tastier than I recall from earlier times. I recommend buying the 1lb bags and steeping it in a tea cup filter or pot. I like it strong, because it has no caffeine and is never bitter, no matter how long it steeps!
