This is a very pleasant tea to sip! Brewed hot for 3 minutes.
From the WuYi Mountains in Fujian, China. These oolongs are highly prized for "yan yun" or "rock taste." Rich aromas of roasted vegetables, sweet honey, river stones. Delicately spicy, rounded texture, pit-fruit flavors, and subtle peach juiciness.

This is a very pleasant tea to sip! Brewed hot for 3 minutes.
This tea is special—delightfully complex and smooth. On par with the teas on the Masters site. I enjoyed every sip. I steeped 2g/8oz at 195F x3 minutes for first steep, less for subsequent steps. It needs no sweetener. Sooo good!
Strong flavored and complex. Treat yourself to this fun option.
Sometimes when you take that first sip of tea you just know...it's going to be fantastic! This is one of those teas. I drank this wonderful oolong with nothing, it was perfect on it's own!
Mineral rock taste does seem to be a good description. I tried this plain and with honey.
I walked away and let my ea steep for so long I was worried about bitterness. Was pleasantly surprised by the sweet, toasty taste and floral scent. A good brew at a variety of temps. 5 min at 195
A deceptively complex oolong tea, with new flavors arising the more I taste it. Mineral is the strongest note, alongside a wet earthy taste that fades into a sweet aftertaste. I'm a fan.
A smooth quality oolong tea with pretty multi colored leaves. This tasted like a standard basic oolong to me, nothing exceptional, but still good. An everyday oolong that I could drink everyday :)
This tea is pleasant but it does have a bit of a 'dirt' taste to me. The flavor is light and smooth.
CommuniTEA portion: 195 for 3 minutes. Wonderful sip! All the mineral, earthy notes that I love. I tried to sip it slowly! Second steep was equally as enjoyable.
Do Fairies party?
If so, then they must make tea!
But how to prepare...
The stone of a fruit
Steeped in mineral waters
Gathered from a stream
Along with magic
They would add through song and dance
Plus, bits of green leaves
I hope to go there
To join in and celebrate
But I am human!
So I'll sip this tea
And live vicariously
Though it's taste and scent

If I let the tea sit on my tongue, I could get the wet stone element. I'm not much of a black tea drinker. I usually stick to herbal teas. I only had a few sips before passing it on to my spouse who said 'it just tasted like tea.'
This was a very light, refreshing drink. It tasted slightly floral to me, but now that I read about the peach, I can pick that up, too.
It didn't really taste like anything to me? Had a pleasant kind of 'rainwater' / hay smell but just nice/bland.
I am enjoying wuyi da hong pao in a calming gong-fu session as I write this review. In my opinion, having the deep mineral rock taste makes some of the best teas I have ever tasted. Every tea from WuYi mountain area has been a quick favorite of mine. I immediately pick up on the sweet honey, roasted leaves and slight peach flavors of this premium -grade tea. With all those natural flavors blended together this is definitely a marvelous Oolong tea! Each steep the appearance is lighter, but the flavor is still present. The second, third and fourth steep were just as wonderful and had layers of flavor. I hope to enjoy more soon as I add this to my cart. Gong-fu brew 45 sec to 1 min steeps @195.
This is a smooth, easy to drink oolong. Very soothing but also invigorating! Second steep was enjoyable too! 195 degrees 3 min
I enjoyed this lightly mineral flavored oolong tea for two full bodied steeps. I had trouble picking up the peach flavor that was mentioned by others and wondered if some sweetener might help. I stayed with the pure tea though. I steeped at 190 degrees for 3 minutes each time, and added nothing.
This is one of my staple teas. I adore a good “rock” oolong and this is one of the best. The roasty, toasty taste filled with subtle caramel notes with that burst of minerality on the back end is A+! It will steep up multiple times, so make sure you plan your day around this sip! This is one of my “comfort cups” I reach for when I just want a yummy tea with little to no thought involved. I hope you love it as much as I do! Happy Sipping!
A sweet, date-like aroma in the package, but all earthy vegetation in the cup. For me, it was the aroma of a wet leaf pile in late fall. The flavor is all minerality though. I wish some of the sweetness of the aroma came through, but this is a highly enjoyable tea nonetheless.
10🌟's if possible ~ this fantastic and phenomenal Oolong/Mineral/Fruit-esque vibe cup is a wondrous way to start the day. Robust & doesn't need a thing added. ((3 mins @ 195°))
In the bag: If tea ever looked bold, it would look like this. These leaves are big, dark, and gnarly. Most are twisted up tight but a few remain flat.
On the nose (pre-steep): The scent is hard to place. Notes of lumber and salt, as if someone made potato chips from wood instead of spuds. Hint of dried grass.
On the nose (post-steep): Reminiscent of wet river grass. No longer salty. Medium intensity.
On the tongue: Flavor matches the post-steep scent. A slight wood taste on the back of my tongue. No astringency. Moderate intensity.
Opinion: It's hard to avoid my personal bias here. Except for one oolong served at my wife and I's favorite Chinese restaurant, I don't enjoy unflavored oolongs. Thus I have to pass on this one.
Preparation: 3 min @ 195 ℉. No sweetener
When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, I noticed earthy aromas. I steeped the tea for about 3 minutes. This oolong is full of complex, delicious flavors! It has sweet, peachy flavors with a mineral finish. I’m so glad I could try this tea and I would buy it again!
Very nice, complex tea! The mineral taste is the most notable at first, but the sweet aftertaste is what lingers. Interesting and delicious!
Yup, mineral and complex. I enjoy this type of oolong, and would drink this anytime.
Delicious oolong to start off the morning. The peach and honey tones came shining thru. The cool down was interesting; I tasted a hint of floral and oak. I would definitely add this to my collection.
wuyi da hong pao 4 stars
Recommended Steep 195°F for 3 minutes. I steeped at 190°F for 3 minutes, because I don’t have a 190°F setting on my teapot, in approximately 11 oz of water with 1.5 tsp of Adagio tea/rock sugar.
Upon opening the CT packet, I saw a very dark, earthy tea, and a very mild, earthy aroma. I was concerned that I wouldn’t like it. It surprised me. While hot it was mild, without much discernible flavor, but as it cooled...then it began to shine. It is a very pleasant earthy, smooth tea which I very much enjoyed. 4 stars from me.
This was a very light Oolong which I preferred steeped 5 min. That brought out more flavor. It was slightly flowery, but not much more.
This is a tea that on the first sip, I just took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and said 'mmmmmmmm'' Instant relaxation and enjoyment. Lovely tea with a wonderful mineral, earthy flavor. Some teas are worth the extra money -- this is one of them. So good.
The ‘wet stones’ flavor in this blend is thankfully subtle haha. Medium dark, nice minerally flavors, with a subtle sweetness.
It has a grassy aroma and a mineral flavor. It makes several cups.
There is a grassy aroma emitting from the dark leaves in the CommuniTEA packet. They steep into a beautiful mild tea. The aroma is delightful, and the soft mouthfeel flavor has a fruitiness that I cannot place (peach?). This needs no sweetener, it is excellent just as it is. What a delight to drink and I drink it all day long. Moderate caffeine means none in the evening however, but it steeps wonderfully several times. (3 mins @195ºF).
Dark and mysterious looking green oolong tea leaves were noted in my communiTEA packet.
I used three grams of tea, enough for a medium strength 12 ounce steep. I steeped for three minutes at 190°F.
When hot, very mild cinnamon spicy flavors and aromas were noted. Mild buttery and vegetal flavors were noted. Mineral tastes were mild.
When warm, moderate dark caramel and molasses flavors were noted. A mild floralness was noted. Mild buttery vegetal flavors were still present.
This excellent oolong had a mineral rich, long-lasting floral fragrance with a smooth, sweet, and refreshing aftertaste. A Wuyi rock oolong indeed! Be sure to sip this one to enjoy. Second steep tastes were similar. (3 mins @ 190ºF, no sugar added)
This is incredibly nice tea, but maybe it's me that I can't say I can pick up much of a difference between this and Wuyi Ensemble? I keep going back and forth on which is best and I can only conclude that it's a tie.
I wouldn't have guessed the flavor notes to be mineral-like without being notified of it prior. Tea itself is good, but is also very mild. Got it on sale for $20, I definitely would not purchase this at full price unless you really enjoy 'rock tea' regardless.
I got this for my husband, since he has a fondness for peaches, hoping that the peach notes were subtle but there. We loved that it came in its own tiny tin. The smell was intriguing and the tea had a nice look to it. It did have slight peach notes once brewed and the color was nice. Glad we tried it.
Smoke and oak based oolong with leaves more similar to black (I prefer rolled oolong leaves). Slightly astringent.
This is a delicious oolong! It's smooth with hints of peach and a bit mineral tasting. I drank this gongfu style and got multiple steeps.
This is a delightful oolong tea. The flavors are spot on in the description - mineral and peaches. In some ways, it reminds me of a semi dry Riesling wine. Try it, you'll love it!
A very high quality oolong tea. The leaves are long which makes hard to measure with a tea spoon. It is best to brew in a way that does not break the leaves up.
A very pretty peachy-yellow cup of tea. I get a little bit of earthy-mineral flavor, but no fruit flavors.
This oolong is delicious and has an amazing amount of flavor. Different steepings enhanced different flavors, so each cup was worth savoring. I did three steepings and the flavor was still going strong.
This is right up my alley as I love a good yancha, always filled with notes of sweetness as well as strong minerality. I'm finding I really love these oolongs!
The description is certainly accurate. This tea definitely has those stone-fruit... And stone... notes? But I think there is also a note of some light, mild spice there that should be mentioned as well. Very solid.
I brewed my Wuyi Da Hong Pao hot and plain. It had a very mellow flavor and was quite pleasant. I would highly recommend this tea!
Very smooth and tasty! I only wish they had larger sizes available for purchase beyond the sample size. (Though the tin it comes in is very cute)
A sweet and fruity with a hint of earthy spices like cinnamon or clove. A seriously complex tea that almost puts other teas in a different light. I don't personally get too much 'wet rock' flavor, but I'm not sad about that. This is very good and would be fantastic to share with other routine tea drinkers as a cool surprise. *Used package instructions of 212 for 4 min
Strong and wonderful flavor. Definitely recommend it!
Awesome beverage. Really deep flavors. I get cinnamon, wood, perfume. I like this.
There's a definite rock and earthy flavor in this but I struggle to taste a real difference between this and the Wuyi ensemble blend. I'm sure it's a great Oolong but it's just not *my* Oolong.
Very tasty tea. There's a light sweetness with a crisp, smooth texture and a mineral aftertaste.
