Tried this as part of the October Communitea box. While not terrible by any means, the combination of green tea and vanilla just wasn't for me. The vanilla was overpowering and the vegetal notes of the green tea itself didn't mesh well with it.
China green tea with pure vanilla. Smooth and cozy, like warm sugar cookies made with fresh vanilla beans.

I really like this tea, I love a good green and enjoy Adagios greens alot. This one is light and refreshing, I feel the sweetness the vanilla brings makes it almost floral. This is great hot and iced!!
A lovely green tea with a hint of vanilla. Adding a bit of sweetener enhances the vanilla flavor. Great alone or blended with other green teas. (180°F x 3 minutes).
An unexpected gem! A light and warm flavor that wasn't as vegetal or grassy as other green teas.
I enjoyed this tea; there wasn’t a super strong vanilla taste but it was there in the background. I brewed my tea at 180 degrees for 3 minutes and it never got any bitterness. That’s a win for me. 🙂
This was a beautiful mild green tea. I will include this in my favorites list and put it in the rotation. Bet it's great iced too.
Vanilla is underrated. Let's be honest, the fact that it's everywhere doesn't mean its bad or boring. But, hey, doesn't vanilla go only with black tea? Wouldn't green tea be too light and smooth for it? WRONG!!! This tea is great! I only tried it hot but I suspect it would also be a great summer drink iced.
This green tea is smooth and not grassy at all. The vanilla was subtle and rounded out the cup. Very nice tea !
A simple, warm, well balanced cup of tea! The vanilla complements the green tea just perfectly!
A lovely, delicate cup of green tea infused with high quality vanilla. No grassy taste or smell. Subtle and slightly sweet, I enjoyed Vanilla Green as part of the Communitea.
The packet opened to release a gentle vanilla scent. A 3 minute steep at 180ºF produced a yellow-green hued tea.
A very silky vanilla bean flavor greeted my tastebuds on each sip. This was followed by a delicate green tea and eventually some vey mild levels of dry tannins. The mouthfeel is very smooth thanks to the vanilla. This gives each sip a smooth glide into the gentle green tea tannins with a mildly astringent finish. As the tea cooled, more smooth vanilla took over the flavor a bit more.
Today’s sample made a great early afternoon sip! It was just as expected: a vanilla green tea.

3.5, to be exact.
The scent of vanilla is sweet but not overpowering when you open the packet, and gets more subtle after steeping. The flavor, however comes through entirely in the tea itself. It's almost too sweet! Definitely recommend this one without sugar.
This tea is ok you can taste the vanilla and (175 @ 3 min)
A lovely tea! This would make a great dessert tea, or a pick-me-up when you need something sweet, but not too sweet. Vanilla Green would also be a great blending tea.
I thought this blend was great! The vanilla was very present, but it tasted genuinely of vanilla, which lends itself beautifully to any kind of doctoring as well as combining with other teas. Usually I like green tea cold, but the vanilla inspired feelings of coziness as I sipped this morning, like being wrapped up in a blanket cocoon, but giving enough energy to keep me out of bed all morning.
It's alright, the scent of vanilla in the pouch is pleasant but when brewed I don't think that the vegetal taste of green tea goes that well with the sweet flavor of vanilla. if I wanted a green tea I would reach for something like genmai cha or hojicha and if I wanted a sweet green tea I would just reach for matcha instead. Just not my thing, I hope that others like it though. :)
I loved the smell of vanilla that came from the package. However, I found that green tea doesn't really go with vanilla, or at least it's not my preference. It's not bad but it's not my cup of tea.
This was a very pleasant surprise. I’m not a fan of green teas, but this is a mild comforting blend. The vanilla blends well with the mild green tea, with no grassy, veggie, or seaweed tastes. Delicious!
This is a nice, smooth green tea - not too grassy, not too vegetal, but bright and fresh - with just the right amount of vanilla. It's enough to give you that lovely, creamy sweetness but not so much that it overpowers the green tea or tastes like drinking a candle.
Is it something I'd ever purchase, or drink on a regular basis? Nah. But it was a lovely CommuniTEA experience.
I'm not a fan of green teas because of their vegetal taste. This tea doesn't have a bad flavor, but I wish I could taste the vanilla that smelled so good in the packet after opening. It's a decent option, but not one I would seek out to purchase.
Two classic flavours of green tea and vanilla blended together. They are perfect together. Simple, smooth and oh so enjoyable.
This is pretty good! It is a pretty straightforward, slightly vegetal green tea with the kind of vanilla flavor one would find in a creamsicle.
This was a good green tea but there wasn’t much vanilla flavor to speak of, which was a let down. Especially since the dry tea smelled wonderful!
I guess wasn't expecting this vegetal a green tea to be the base of the vanilla green. This is a fairly nice, comforting tea, but I am not getting very much vanilla flavor--I think it is being overpowered by the green! What vanilla I do get is mostly a weirdly cloying aftertaste. Update: The vanilla was more noticeable as this tea cooled, but the blend is still just ok to me.
I'm enjoying this tea, even though I'm not overly fond of vanilla teas that don't have another aspect to them (berry, spice, roses, etc). The vanilla was very strong to my nose, but the flavor is mild and gentle. The green tea's own profile slips through, providing a slight acidity that's really enjoyable!
I barely taste anything in this tea. I followed the brew instructions as usual. I just get a VERY mild green tea flavor, with an even milder vanilla. But mostly tastes like water to me. I should have added twice the amount of tea and brewed maybe a minute longer. I'm not a fan of green tea in general, but this does have a hint of vanilla deliciousness, so I will brew this again much stronger and see if it's better. But following the instructions, there's barely any taste here.
Edit: Got this in the CommuniTEA box, so I thought it'd give this another go. Still very mild vanilla, and the green tea is more pronounced. Sadly, this tea is just not for me.
Scrumptious. Warm, cozy, vanilla green tea that is so very relaxing to drink. More, please!
Update 10/1/21: After having the tea again I still think it's good, but I actually think the vanilla could be a bit stronger. Overall a solid green tea though.
This one was a surprise for me. Vanilla and green tea sounds strange at first- but it's really quite good! It's not a super strong vanilla however that might be what makes this tea work so well for me.
Ode to Vanilla
Oh Vanilla, you are so well loved!
A favored flavor for candies, treats and cold ice cream!
Body washes, lotions, and perfumes, you are more than you seem!
Your flowers are lovely and your beans fragrant.
This tea captures your essence well.
I sure think your style is just swell!
So Vanilla please continue on!
In candles, oils and in my baked good!
You always smell and taste just like you should!
I’m not usually much of a green tea drinker, but this was delightful! The vanilla is the perfect balance for the sometimes acidic/bitter taste of the green tea. Very smooth and light while still having some substance!
Not a fan of green in general, but this one was pretty good. The vanilla did a great job smoothing out the grassiness and making it an inviting, soothing sip. Very light so good if you aren't looking for a deep vanilla like you'd get with a ceylon base.
This one is just odd to me. Yum to vanilla but something about the vegetal green trying to sneak in on the back of the sip ruins it for me. I added sweetener to pull the vanilla more forward but I’m still just getting a funky back note that is ruining the experience. Maybe this is someone’s jam, but it’s not mine! Happy Sipping!
Good green tea with a vanilla flavor. A bit of a strange combination.
I really like this combination of green tea. The vanilla is light and the green tea isn't bitter.
Great tea!
Vanilla flavor is very light in the background and comes out softly in the finish.
I prefer my green teas grassy, so the vanilla on this one was a bit much. For those who are fans of vanilla, though, this one may be a win! The sweetness dominated both the sip and aftertaste in my cup.
Green tea is green tea to me. It has its health benefits. If someone just handed me this vanilla green, I probably would not think about any vanilla taste as I drink it. Therefore, a star is docked for lack of vanilla taste for me, but I'm not boohooing over it.
Was was so light yet flavorful. I loved this one. The green tea was not bitter at all and was very refreshing.
CommuniTEA Sample: Outstanding blend of a nice green tea with vanilla. Wonderful aroma and flavor. What an excellent start for the month of October.
I am a green tea drinker and though this vanilla green is a lovely tea, I taste Vanilla in my cup with little to no green tea flavors. This tea gives me a prickly dry mouth sensation followed by a sweet sensation on the tip of my tongue. If you love vanilla flavors and want some of the benefits of drinking green tea you will enjoy this tea!
Love green tea and vanilla flavor so this tea was wonderful for me. The vanilla flavoring was just right, it blended nicely with the green tea. A nice mellow cup of tea to enjoy while unwinding.
I love vanilla tea, I enjoy many green teas, but this one just isn't it for me. It may be because I cold-brewed it; this would be better warm, but as it stands, I don't love it.
This simple tea delivers exactly what it says it is: green tea and vanilla. The vanilla adds some interest and smoothness to the basic green. Adding a little sugar, while definitely not necessary, brings out a wider range of flavors from the vanilla.
The vanilla in this tea is phenomenal. It’s more of a vanilla bean flavor than just vanilla, which I love. I still get a little grassy green flavor, but it’s smoothed by the vanilla. Vanilla is definitely the predominant flavor. Add a little sweetness, and this turns into an excellent dessert choice!
1 Oct 21 review: The vanilla flavoring seemed to work in harmony with the green tea this time without being overpowering.
30 Sep 20 review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Strong vanilla and mild grassy green tea aromas were noted from the CommuniTEA packet this morning. From hot to finish, pleasantly smooth and mildly grassy flavors of green tea hung around nicely for a long time on the palate. Reminds me of a mild Sencha Premier green. However, the vanilla flavor overpowered the delicate green tea base. If you like vanilla, you’ll love this one. This blend would would be a great tea to use as a flavor addition in other blended teas. (3 mins @ 175ºF, 1/8 tsp sugar)
Very nice green tea with a bonus of vanilla. This was a simple delicious tea.
I was very excited to try this tea today! I love green tea and vanilla. As I waited for the tea to steep I treated myself to Vanilla Bean ice cream! It was a wonderful combination. In fact, the tea was gone before I thought of this, but it would have been delicious to add a scoop of the ice cream into the vanilla green! This tea didn't last long enough for me to experiment with it. It was a smooth and calming green tea. The green tea in this tea was not bitter at all and was naturally sweet. I steeped at 180 for 3 min. No sweetness needed, but I plan to buy a bag so I can add a scoop of vanilla bean, and so I can share with friends. This would be a great choice to share with anyone that hasn't had green tea before or that say they don't like it. Delicious!!
Very smooth and flavorful green tea without any harshness or sharp flavors. The vanilla is sweet and not too strong. I'm not a huge fan of the combination here, preferring vanilla with black teas, but if you like green teas and vanilla this is a great combination of a great green tea with natural vanilla flavor.
I don’t especially like green tea, but the added vanilla made this more pleasant than usual.
