A nonpricey pleasant grassy tea, smooth with a feeling of vegetation.
Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

A nonpricey pleasant grassy tea, smooth with a feeling of vegetation.
The tea is a lovely light color, with a light green aroma. A light but very green flavor, like fresh young green vegetables. Temperature definitely is important with this tea. I used 176F water (or 80C) that I cooled a little by pouring into a glass measuring cup and letting it sit. My kettle doesn't have a 165F setting.
I enjoyed it, but my husband is not a fan of this style of green tea.
I love the earthy notes in this one. It’s subtle and very smooth.
Favorite green tea, I prefer this to the more expensive first flush teas, guess I don't have real discerning taste buds. Don't go too hot, will get bitter as it cools.
I honestly don't feel I can give a particularly good review for this tea, as green teas tend to be hit-or-miss for me. If you are a fan of bright, smooth, grassy notes, then this tea is likely right up your alley. If you prefer more to your tea than the basics of the green, then this probably won't be what you're looking for, unless you just want a green tea latte. The leaves powder up fairly well, the overall body is substantial, but not too robust. The aroma is pungent, and the flavor is very straight-forward. This is a green tea for green tea lovers, but doesn't offer much outside of a starting canvas for folks who prefer something a bit more nuanced. I have no doubt that to more experienced green tea drinkers, this tea is of decent quality - but for me, it was lacking in much of anything outside of just tasting green.
Overture is a pretty good sencha. It is grassy and vegetal, but not unpleasantly so. There is a slight astringency in the finish that is welcome as well. To me this tea really reads as most of the same notes as premier just not quite as good. It can be expected with similar teas at different price points though. I really only deducted the last star as it didn't come close to premier at all in the texture department. Premier has a very smooth buttery texture that I think give some oolongs a run for their money while I found overture to not have much texture at all. Still a good green tea that actually had a nice sweetness to it as well. Added nothing to my cup. 165° 3 min
A nice grassy green tea, with slight sweetness and vegatal notes.
Very fresh , could instantly smell it when I opened the package. It was a smooth taste and I enjoyed it as a morning treat
I consider myself a relative newbie to the world of tea, and green teas have never been a favorite of mine, so I was primed to struggle with this one from the start. It's a tea that insists on respect and care in its preparation. Which isn't a bad thing at all if you brew tea for the ritual of it or if you're open to a little more fine tweaking to get it just right. The description is pretty accurate to the taste. This initially turned me off, but I found that once I shifted my perception of this away from 'tea' and started to think of it more as 'broth,' I could appreciate the grassy, briny, savory flavors.
As much as I enjoy trying the different teas Adagio offers, unfortunately, this is not a tea for me. I tend to be rather wary of vegetal greens to begin with, but this tea has a very strong grassy flavor with seaweed background notes - which makes it a big no for me.
This smells good, and tastes good as well. Be careful when you brew it, since if the water is too hot the tea gets cooked and that's just not good for green tea!
CommuniTEA sample: 2 min @ 165 F, second cup for 2.5 min @ 165 F, third cup for 3 min @ 165 F and then chilled. This is a very fresh tasting, natural green tea. It is on the bitter side, and it is one of the grassier green teas. I feel like it does have some vegetable flavor, reminding me of spinach and cucumbers. But there is a nice, subtle, natural sweetness to it as well! Very soft mouth feel and light and refreshing overall!
a nice light, refreshing green... good flavor, bright green leaves upon steeping, light hue of the resulting tea.
I find because the leaves are so small. I had to steep this for 60 seconds or else it turned bitter.
Great tea!! Great company. I used to spend to much $$$ on sencha teas. This company is a God send. Delivery time is amazing. (I’m in NJ) Keep doing what you’re doing 🙏📿🙏
Great grassy green tea. It tastes clean, crisp and refreshing. I steep it for only two minutes so it doesn’t get bitter. This is one of my favorite green teas.
This is such a good green tea! It goes well with breakfast or all by itself. I am on my second bag and still enjoying it as much as ever.
This is definitely a vegital flavored and seaweed scented tea! I think the next time I'm sick I may add a little bit to my chicken stock and see if the medicinal qualities are embued into it, so to speak.
A green tea with a twist. Sencha overture makes your cup a bit opaque and offers almost an umami experience to go with the normal green notes. Unique and delicious!
A vegetal tea that can easily be brewed incorrectly. If you like grassy teas then this one if for you. If you do not or don't want a tea that can easily be ruined then this is not the tea for you.
I was expecting a better taste. This one was rather flat. I used purified water , but this tea did not taste as well as other Sencha teas I have tasted. It mixes well with Casablanca tea.
This tea has a nice, grassy, seaweed, vegetable like flavor. Very drinkable, slightly sweet, and pleasant.
A refreshing delight. With its rich, grassy flavor and subtle sweetness, it's perfect for any time of the day. Highly recommended for green tea enthusiasts!
I always make a cup of green tea with reservations, thinking I’m not going to like it. Overall, green tea from this company has surprised me. I’ve like them all.
Sancha Overture is extremely mild with no bitterness whatsoever. It tastes like the mix of springtime on the farm, or a cool summer morning in a fresh cut hayfield. It reminds me of wild clover. I LOVE this tea!!
This tea has a distinctive, almost grassy, flavor. It is a bit of a weak tea in the flavor department.
My husband loves this tea. He drinks 3 to 4 cups a day. He reuses the leaves upping the time and temp with each brew.
Delicious, grassy tea - very brigjt flavor - no earthly flavors. Re-brews nicely. No bitter after taste. Highly recommend!
This is a lovely green tea. It’s a bit mild, but still has that signature grassy flavor without overpowering the senses.
Simple green tea. Very earthy! Would keep on hand as a predictable staple.
I like this green tea very much. Its nice on the palet and sometimes add lavender flowers when I steep. I can get 2-3 steeps.
This tea has a light sweet taste. I don’t typically like grassy green teas and this one is just right.
This tea is not for me. I didn’t care for the flavor.
This tea has a distinct green tea flavor but not grassy. Pale yellow color. Simple plain green tea. Loved it. Enjoyed without sweetener. .
This tea is like the perfect palette cleanser! With a flavor of savory vegetal goodness it's similar to the juice of cooked greens.
As far as plain green teas go, I think this one is pretty tame. I did not get the described vegetal or grassy taste others have experienced. Admittedly, I do not have a kettle with pre-set temps, so I may have boiled the water to less than the 165 degrees recommended. I have no choice but to eyeball it, so take this review as you will. I added about a teaspoon of plain honey, but I feel the overall experience could be enhanced with a flavored honey.
A deep green, mildly buttery, with a yummy vegetal base.
A smooth, buttery green tea with a distinct earthy taste.
I like green teas. This one has a nice yellow-ish hue upon brewing. I found the taste to be exactly as described; vegetal, grassy, and a bit of a sweet afternote. I brewed this second steeping with a little bit of spearmint and one sugar cube. Those additions really rounded out the flavor nicely.
I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed this tea as last time I had it I didn't like it at all. It has a nice aroma and the tastes was of a delicate ea, not grassy or vegetal, no aftertaste. What a difference!
The smell of vegetables hit me strongly when I opened this packet, but the flavor gets subtler when actually brewed. This is a delightfully grassy green tea with good depth of flavor and no bitterness to it, and I would definitely make this a staple green in my tea cabinet.
This is definitely my favorite go-to green tea. It's delicious as is or made into a latte with some matcha honey.
Interesting, this tea tastes like boiled kale. I thought I didn't like it at first but I drank the entire cup. I used green tea honey.
This is a delicious green tea. It's light and a little vegetal tasting. I steep this at a lower temperature 160F for 1 minute. I think if you steep this any longer, it's more vegetal, grassy, and bitter.
I’m not going to lie, I’m a Sencha addict. I can’t put it down. I want to get the Premier stuff but at $59/lb I just can’t afford my habit. I will say honestly Sencha Overture may be 2 points less in score, but when I’m jonesing real hard, this cup puts me down, keeps me real chill. Go all in on this one, a pound isn’t ever enough!
This is a lovely, brothy tea. It is light and has a nice vegetal flavor. Holds up for a 2nd brew but definitely needs to be a short brew to not get bitter notes.
A good green tea I decided to try. I'm just not a big fan. Love my Gyokuro still the best in the green tea family.
Mild green tea flavor. A touch of honey makes a nice smooth cup.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE tea, after all the years of drinking it it’s been consistent every single time! Soooo good
Delicious green tea!perfect buttery taste and super yum!
Wasn't quite sure what to expect on this one, but was pleasantly surprised. Very aromatic without be vegetal or grassy.
