MY NEW FAVORITE GREEN TEA!! couple cups of JPP will have you feeling like you walked through a field of freshly bloomed jasmine
Perfumy hand-rolled tea from Fuding, in Fujian, China. Each pearl is just one leaf and a bud. When added to hot water, the pearls majestically unfurl, releasing a delicate scent and flavor. Sweet and almost sugary.

MY NEW FAVORITE GREEN TEA!! couple cups of JPP will have you feeling like you walked through a field of freshly bloomed jasmine
This tea is even better than I thought. Smells as good as it tastes!
One of my favorite. Almost drink this one on daily basis.
I believe this tea is an acquired taste. My first cup, I did not like it. Something about the jasmine was strong and different for me. However, the more I drank it, the more I liked it. I would recommend it.
I love the pearls, this is a very good green tea. Definitely recommend.
I absolutely adored the Teavana jasmine pearls and I was super excited to find these replacements!
As someone who doesn't care for the stereotypical taste of badly-brewed green tea, I was not happy with my first attempt with these pearls. Luckily, after messing around a bit with the temperature and time, I was able to find a perfect steep. After that, I have been super satisfied with the tea and I look forward to each cup in the morning. (I add the barest bit of honey and some oatmilk - both of which surprisingly do not overpower the drink!)
I did read a review describing a 'bubble gum' flavor/scent, which I was worried about. Personally, I did not have the same experience, though with my sweet tooth I could very easily be overlooking an undertone.
I will be repurchasing!!
This seems to be a 'love it or hate it' tea, and I firmly fall into the 'love it' category. I am a big fan of floral and herbal teas, and if you are a fan of this, the jasmine will be exactly what you want. On the other hand, if you are looking for a pronounced green tea flavor, you will not find it here.
Anxious to try this new one. Definitely want to follow the recommendations for temp.
I was looking for the jasmine phoenix pearls every where since teavana closed. This tea is great and it is exactly what i was looking for. Thanks!
I'm not the biggest jasmine tea fan, but the sample was on sale so I ordered it to try. It was nicely floral & the green tea flavor was in the background, as others mentioned. Good quality but not my favorite type of tea. A nice change of pace, but I probably won't order again.
My favorite tea! Relaxing and floral and fresh. Definitely one to stock up on.
Jasmine tea lovers with adore the phoenix pearls. The tea is perfectly balanced with the jasmine aroma that we love! I crave this tea!
I'm glad I gave this one another go, I was out of my usual favs, If you are a jasmine fan, you'll love it, it is really nicely balanced.
Opened to very large leaves -- brew in a glass vessel to see them unfurl. It's a little mesmerizing. Lovely, floral scent & flavor.
This tea is delightful. It’s even better now that I’ve found a teapot with an infuser to put it in—squishing the pearls into a little teaball infuser still led to a great taste, but now that they’ve got room to spread out? Delicious. I love jasmine tea and this is super great. It’s also fascinating to watch the pearls unfurl. Do recommend!!
Very good tea - pearls surprised me because they become large leaves in the steeping cup
One of the very best teas on adagio, which is saying something. This tea is full of flavor, and enough of the green leaves come in to counteract the jasmine. It's not the least bit soapy like some of the more floral teas can be. Be careful, as this tea burns easily.
Delicious green jasmine tea, I brewed it western-style using a glass teapot, so I loved it.
I got these pearls because I loved my Dragon pearls. At first I wasn’t sure, they took a while to grow on me. Now I’m a huge fan though! The scent and color are dreamy. The perfect relaxing afternoon tea!
The loveliest Jasmine tea around. Floral and pleasant.
I love strong tasting tea and I love jasmine flavor. These leaves exhibit both qualities to great effect.
The content of this CommuniTEA packet: many small tightly-wound little balls of fragrant dark green amid strange white-yellow flakes. There was a hint of a very specific scent behind the floral so I held onto the packet until I figured it out: root beer barrel hard candies, which is bizarre (and I haven’t even tried one since I was in middle school, so extra bizarre). I picked out the pearls only. Watching them unwind and expand is entertaining and I can’t imagine how much effort goes into the balling process. The work alone must justify the price. The smell is overwhelmingly floral and the taste is difficult for me to pinpoint... much more like a warm watered-down white grape juice than tea. I gave it time. The taste of faint grape intensified and the perfume gave me a headache. I did not get the strong negative grassy taste like I’ve had with other greens, but it did feel like I had a mouthful of flowers long after drinking. I have been perplexed by this tea all day and still can’t tell if I liked it. Did I dislike it? No. Would I purchase? Also no.
Nice aroma, Fun to watch unfurl. But I just tasted like perfume to me. :(
Really Really good tea. I really enjoyed this and it had a lot of great flavor to it.
Love jasmine teas and this is particularly lovely!
I had my usual skepticism about jasmine from the get go but this is a great example of tea that doesn't let the star of its show overwhelm. It's much more delicate than Jasmine Chun Hao and more nuanced than Yin Hao. Upon first taste I knew this would be my go-to jasmine for a long, long time.
This tea smells amazing! Reminds me of walking through a botanical garden. I love the scent of jasmine, & this tea doesn’t hold back!
Bonus is that it’s a rolled green. Those are so interesting to watch unfurl as they steep! Make sure you give them enough room! The combo of the scent & sight of the tea unfurling is a very relaxing, mesmerizing experience, for me at least.
Unfortunately that’s where the bulk of my enjoyment ends. While I love the scent of jasmine, & other florals for that matter, I am not the biggest fan of their flavors. I can handle an accent of florals here and there, but ones of this strength are not for me.
The flavor was obviously a strong floral, with just a slight buttery mouthfeel. I did note a bit of astringency as I finished off my cup, but I was too preoccupied by the scent to notice it much.
If you like floral teas, dive right in! But if you’re not used to strong florals this may need a bit of getting used to.
Steeped 190F, 2.5m
I don't normally choose flowery teas, but this one is wonderful! The floral flavor isn't perfume or bitter, it's just right- with an almost sweet taste to it. It's a little hard to describe, but I absolutely love this tea! It didn't have that biting bitter taste that so many greens do either. So glad I got to try it!
I love jasmine tea, and this one is exceptional. I steeped at 175°F x 3 minutes. Love seeing the little pearls unfurl! The tea is mild, smooth, with a subtle sweetness. No grassiness or bitterness noted. Good with 1/2 teaspoon of honey. This tea can be steeped multiple times.
Green teas are not my thing, but I moderately enjoyed the last jasmine tea in the communitea pack, so I gave it a shot. Still not for me, but watching the leaves unfurl is easily the most satisfying thing I've done all week.
I am torn with this tea. On opening my CommuniTEA packet the thick heavy fragrance of Jasmine fills my nose. I steeped it at 195 F x 3 min then 195 F x 2 min 30 sec, no additions. While I enjoy the floral scent of Jasmine for a perfume I am not sure I like that HEAVY of a floral scent to my tea. I did not detect any grassiness at all, which I appreciated. It is smooth, however has a lingering astringency that leaves my tongue and throat feeling dry and parched. Overall I like this tea better than the Jasmine chun hao and I am glad I got to try it however I don't think I will purchase it.
A very floral tea, beautiful buds just waiting to unfurl! I enjoy watching the process so I placed these in my ingenuity so I could see the leaves opening. This tea has a very pronounced floral jasmine taste, with a tiny bit of astringency. No grassy green taste, but the jasmine borders on cloying. I enjoyed this as a change, since I don't usually gravitate to greens, and this one was refreshingly different, but is not one I would want to drink often, it lacks subtlety. The jasmine is straightforward and powerful. A second steep yielded a cup almost identical to the first with a tiny drop in scent and jasmine taste, but still quite present. If jasmine is your preference, then this may be a good value for the resteepability factor.
Delicate floral from the jasmine doesn't overwhelm the brew. I can see this becoming my go to for jasmine teas
A family favorite. Perfect with a meal or as an afternoon treat.
This tea has a very strong aroma of jasmine dry and when brewed. It is nice to watch the leaves unfurl. However, I would not pay the going price for this tea. There are more affordable green jasmine teas that have a similar flavor profile.
Lovely scent and taste of jasmine. This tea holds up to multiple steeps.
I really enjoyed this green tea. Steeped at the recommended 180 degrees for 2 1/2 minutes, it tastes just like munching on the walls of grandmother's house, very perfume-y. Yes, this is a good thing!
This tea smells wonderful and is a joy to watch unroll in the hot water. However, it is a good tea for those who like floral teas.
Very nice green tea with beautiful jasmine aroma. Really enjoyed watching the pearls unfurl. Was great for multiple infusions.
195 degrees for 2 minutes. Perfumy jasmine tea with strong floral bouquet. Leaves unfurled beautifully, but the taste is so cloying that I’d rather wear this one as a signature scent than drink it in my cuppa.
Cracking open today's CommuniTEA packet released the floral scent of jasmine! Inside were curled up balls of tea leaves, and what looked like small off-white flower petals... these must be what jasmine petals look like.
Steeped as suggested at 195ºF for approximately 2 minutes in the VelociTEA maker with a tweak: awakening the phoenix pearls! To do this, I just pressed the 195ºF button, then waited for the water to boil and the first couple spurts of water to get pumped up into the basket. I pulled this out after a couple seconds and held it so it hovered over the water. Then I just set a timer for the difference (2mins) of the Oolong steep time (4 mins) and the target of 2 minutes. While waiting for the timer to elapse, I noticed all the flower petals dancing about on the top of the water in the brewing basket, while the jasmine pearls started soaking up water to expand and eventually unfurl. After about 30 seconds, they started swelling up a bit larger, and after about 45 seconds to a minute the first ones started to unfurl. I tilted the basket to let some water out in preparation for the full steep time. After the timer went off, I put the basket back in for the remaining 2-ish minutes (I got distracted by watching the leaves, so not perfect, but good enough).
The first taste was actually surprisingly smooth and free of much astringency at all! I'm not a big fan of most jasmine teas for the reason that they can be quite heavy on the astringency. Not so with these phoenix pearls! I kept to the shorter recommended steeping time for the first brew just in case. The scent is still marvelously floral which brings jasmine flavor to the forefront of the first sip. The tea's body is very smooth for a green jasmine tea, with very slight astringency at the finish. I'd venture to say that the mouthfeel is similar to a good milk oolong: smooth full and almost creamy. Yet unlike a milk oolong, the milky touch of flavor is replaced by jasmine floral accents.
Curious as to what the second steeping would be like, I put more water in the kettle and repeated the steep procedure minus the awakening step. The phoenix had already been awakened! The second brew at 2 minutes was just a bit less floral and weaker in general, so I re-brewed for another minute to make 3 mins total. This brought back more of the satisfying full flavor but was slightly less smooth yet still not overly astringent.
Overall I'm impressed by these almost magical Jasmine Phoenix Pearls. They've managed to convince me that a jasmine tea doesn't have to be so astringent, and can be quite smooth and pleasant after all. If you don't like the floral aspect of jasmine teas, this one has a load of it so it may not be for you. However, if the astringency aspect is what usually puts you off, then you might want to give this one a try.
(2 min @ 195ºF) 2nd steep: (3 min @ 195ºF)
I’ll start by saying I don’t love really floral teas. When I steeped this, it had such a punch of flower I was worried it would be like snorting a plant. That said, it’s not too strong! There’s a light fermented-honey undertone underneath which is pleasant as well. Pretty nice.
Jasmine Phoenix Pearls is my absolute favorite green tea. It's incredibly delicious. I decided to brew this particular packet hot for a change, but I normally make it a cold/ice brew. It's very refreshing as an iced tea!
Standard green tea flavor with a hint of jasmine. enjoyed it with a small amount of honey
I steeped just the pearls from today's CommuniTEA packet, ignoring the crumbled flakes. Each steep was 2.5 minutes and the pearls did not fully unfurl the first time. It smells lovely. The flavor was lighter than I thought. It's definitely a bit perfume-esque but since the flavor is so light, it doesn't bother me. It's very smooth with no grassiness. It resteeped well but I found out it gets slightly bitter when it's barely warm. The 2nd resteep was very light on flavor but still enjoyable.
Pleasantly surprised by this one, the Jasmine was not too strong so it was a nice green tea! Did not need any sweetner!
I'm learning that any Jasmine tea just may not be my thing. The aroma of it dried was really wierd and super funky floral. I got two sips down before it was too much like drinking over grandma's perfume bottle. I don't like floral wine either so I may just pass on anything Jasmine from now on.
Jasmine is such a lovely flavor in tea and watching these pearls bloom makes for an even more enjoyable experience.
I steeped for 2 minutes at 190F to make a gorgeous golden cup. The jasmine is floral and sweet, but not too strong. The green tea provides a gentle smoothness and rounded mouthfeel without any of the typical grassy tastes.
This tea is just a joy to sip. I could drink it every day (hot or iced!) and never get sick of it.
The aroma and taste is very floral, though the taste is much less pronounced than the scent. I also get a tiny hint of grape hiding under the jasmine, and there was a pleasant light sweetness. This tea is delicate, and mildly astringent on the finish. I did not get any grassy notes in any of the three steeps, and found each steep to be equal in flavor. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 2 min @ 190F)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jasmine tea never fails me. I received this tea in my communitea box for February. The moment I opened this bag of tea, the naturally sweet and floral aroma of this tea told me I was going to love it. Sweet, mellow, refreshing and calming. Jasmine is always a welcome pause in cup of tea. These pearls unfurl beautiful as the tea steeps and makes a lovely second steeping! 5/5 stars. I can never get enough of Jasmine tea.
