Delicious and has a nice smoky and vanilla flavor!
Blended for slow sipping, this black tea has notes of vanilla, malt, and a hint of smoke from the bourbon barrel.

Delicious and has a nice smoky and vanilla flavor!
Nicely balanced strong bittersweet taste with a slight fruity undertone. Great to consume on it’s own. Like it.
This one surprised me, I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the CT packet initially but I liked it enough to buy more. :)
This tastes exactly like bourbon!! Will definitely order again.
This was a surprisingly flavorful tea, with delicious notes of smoke, a hint of sweetness, and the woodiness of the bourbon barrel. It genuinely does have notes of bourbon. I drank it with milk.
It ok.. Not a fan of the taste. It looked interesting to try but not for me
I've never tried bourbon, but if it tastes like this tea, I might have to!
My husband and I love this tea. It's my prefect get me going in the morning tea!!!
I’m a big fan of bourbon but didn’t expect it to translate to tea so well. This tea is super yummy and makes an amazing mixed drink when actual bourbon is mixed in.
A delicious blend of flavors + a little bit of sweetener = so yummy!!
Got this one as a sample in a order I received. And I’m not one for alcoholic beverages but since it was free, thought I would give it a try.. the smell was so intense it turned my stomach cause it really reminded me of the real thing. But was I suprised! This one is AMAZING ! Did not expect so I had to order a bag cause this one is a go to on a cold winter night.
Prior to brewing the bourbon bouquet is very evident along with the sweet candy with a hint of vanilla fragrance. The tea is smooth on the palate and soothing. There is a smoky taste in this complex blend. I enjoyed this cup of tea very much.
Pretty good! The vanilla notes came through most strongly for me. The lapsang is present, but doesn't overpower the other flavors. The black tea leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste, but it's not bad. I'd like to try making a bourbon toddy with this!
This tea was a very new experience for me. The first thought I had was it tasted like a wonderful cigar smell. I have never smoked a cigar, but they smell very good to me. I added a little raw honey. And imagined the smell of those sweet cigars my uncles would smoke.
After trying it in the mocktails sampler, I was hooked with the first taste and immediately purchased a bag. The flavors are nicely balanced, and while I was a little skeptical of the mix of things going on in this tea, they all blend together in a lovely way. I do not like lapsang on its own, but I find that just a hint of it is soothing and brings instant comfort.
As someone who hates booze but loves booze-flavored icecream and candy, I REALLY thought I would love this tea. Made a cup, took a sip, shocked by the taste. Added extra sugar.. nope. Straight down the drain. I'm really surprised, but I guess I just wasn't ready for the flavor. It's a 'no' from me.
I was luckily introduced to this tea recently, when Adagio was giving free samples of it with any purchase made. Honestly, though, I would have bought my own sample if they hadn't, because it just looks so good! Upon opening the bag you immediately get a rich whiskey scent with hints of something sweet. I first brewed this at 3 mins and it really does have a sort of smokey burbon flavor (I was worried it might taste 'perfumey' or just... unlike what it was supposed to). You can also taste the sweeter undertones like caramel and vanilla - all the flavors work so well together! I normally like my black teas a bit stronger, so I steep for 5 mins, and I also add a teaspoon of sugar. This is one my new favorite teas!
I love this tea. It does taste like bourbon. I have this tea with a little bit of cream.
Honestly this tea isn’t good. It does have the bitterness and soil taste you can get from the cheap whiskeys but none of the flavor and complexity of the decent to high end whiskeys.
I love the smokiness of this one! Discovered it through CommuniTEA and had to share it with my coworkers who also loved it!
This smells incredible and the flavor matches. It bears a surprising and delightful resemblance to bourbon, with lightly sweet bright notes and carmely tones. I suspect I'll love this as the base for a hot toddy.
Absolutely a beautiful tea! I personally don't drink so I can't exactly say whether or not it tastes like bourbon, however, I can say it is full of a malty, creamy vanilla flavor with a hint of butterscotch/rum. I adored this blend made hot and ice but I preferred it iced.
A fresh earthy flavor with a bourbon after taste. Slight notes of cacao too.
Smell so much like real bourbon!! taste also strong @adagioteas
This surprised me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve ordered for family.
This is one of my favorite black teas from Adagio
Amazing flavor! I can't wait to purchase more! Adagio is the best
I definitely tastes and smells like a bit of alcohol added to your tea! Not so much like if you drank a glass of bourbon, more like if made a sweet bourbon glaze for cooking. I always put a little Stevia in it. I don't drink this one too often, but when I'm looking for something different and a little sweet this one is great.
Love Bourbon, Scotch, and other malty flavors? If so, you'll love 'Kentucky Bourbon'! This tea has the right hints of malt, fruit, vanilla; as such, it hits the spot on a wintry day.
Update: changed my star rating because the person I bought this for liked it so much they now want another bag of it!
I purchased this to give to someone, but was able to try a cup. Though I don't drink alcohol, I really liked the scent of this one, which was almost...creamy? The taste was interesting, but just like with coffee beans, I'd prefer just to smell it. I turned the remainder of my cup into hot chocolate!
One of my favorite of Adagio teas! The flavor is many faceted, smooth, and totally enjoyable! I love experiencing of taste of the fruit flavor blended with a slight smoked flavor. It is fabulous! Smoked flavored teas are not a preference for me.
I got this tea from the Advent Calendar and absolutely loved it. It was smooth and tasted just like bourbon, without the alcohol! Unfortunately I ordered much more of this tea and the batch I received tasted more 'burnt' and didn't have the smooth taste the sampler had. Try it out and you may be pleasantly surprised
This is my favorite Adagio tea (even though I don't drink bourbon!) The blending
I found this to be a delightful afternoon pick-me-up tea. The fragrance and the flavor are somehow quite different from each other, but nonetheless both strongly reminiscent of good bourbon, with a sunny, warming flavor that has honey-fruit notes. Seriously, the first time I tasted really good bourbon was at a farm-to-table restaurant along the Kentucky Bourbon trail, sitting in the garden in the evening before dinner, and this tea takes me RIGHT back to that first sip.
I enjoy this, but prefer it mixed with Cream black tea or Butterscotch black tea to deepen the flavor.
Delicious tea with a nice complex flavor profile.
I have never had bourbon but felt this was worth trying out. The smell and taste are very pleasant and can be strong with a long steep.
Although I've never liked the taste of hard liquor, I've always enjoyed the smell. This tea smells wonderful and has a mild flavor that even a teetotaler can enjoy.
Got this for my son and he liked it alot, and he is not a tea drinker on a every badis
My husband LOVES this tea. He is a bourbon drinker and was so excited to try this. You can really taste the bourbon flavor. It's not for everyone but he really enjoys it. We ended up buying more.
Great if you like that sort of thing. I picked it out for my partner and he loves it. I’ll leave it to him though. Not a fan
I'm not particularly a fan of smoky teas - by which I mean I don't like them at all - but this one was surprisingly okay. I think the caramel balanced out the smokiness and made it somewhat bearable. I don't think I'd ever buy this one, but it was a fun experience in the CommuniTEA.
Today's CommuniTea packet was Kentucky bourbon, made with black, keemun concerto and lapsang souchong tea, rose hips, cocoa nibs, blue cornflowers, whiskey, candy apple and vanilla flavors. In the packet, it smells like my mother's fruitcake, both fruity and boozy. Brewed, it tasted sort of like a smoked apple. It wasn't terrible, but not among my favorite flavor profiles. I also brewed a pot of peppermint tea, and I do like the Kentucky bourbon more with mint. I like most things better with mint. A little sugar might be nice with it too. :-) Brewed in 12 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes, and then mixed with 6 grams of peppermint brewed in 24 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes.
As a teetotaler, I can't speak to the similarity of this tea's flavor to that of bourbon. But the smoky sweetness reminded me of grilled fruit. The Lapsang Souchong was not overpowering. The caramel and vanilla notes are detectable, more so when sweetener was added. Not a bad blend--if you like smoky teas. (190°F x 3 minutes).
I wasn't sure what to think of this tea when I saw the name and ingredients. But , I really liked this tea! Totally surprised how this tea is so smooth and slightly smoky. Enjoyed this very much !
I do not like lapsang tea at all, or any smoky teas for that matter. I also do not drink alcohol so was not expecting to be able to take more than a sip. I must have gotten a packet that had little to no lapsang in it because I could actually drink this. I can’t get over how it really did smell like an alcoholic drink. Straight it was a bit strong for me so I added a touch of rock sugar. I actually finished my cup. Not something I’d buy personal but I didn’t hate it. 190° for 3 minutes.
This blend astounds me. I can't believe how much like bourbon the dry leaves smell. The taste is pretty spot on, too. All it's lacking is the burn from the alcohol. Vanilla and apple notes blend well with smoky notes to create a tea that tastes at least to me - the occasional sipper of my husband's glass of bourbon - remarkably like its target. So why four stars? 1) Sometimes, the apple notes come across too strongly and 2) as much as I can appreciate this blend for meeting it's goals, it's not a tea I would want to drink regularly. (4 minutes @ 212F)
Hints of caramel, vanilla, and apple mingled among smokey aromas. The flavors were not bad, but the aroma of the lapsang is just too strong for my nose. I think of smokey aromas more for scotch then bourbon. This is not a bad blend, but it is not for me. Steeped 195° for 3 mins. Cheers!
First, know that this tea is Smokey. It doesn't taste like bourbon to me, but it is incredibly complex and worth trying!
Interesting blend. Malt, caramel, and spice with a bourbon taste at the end.
