This a beautiful black flavored tea. It is one I keep in rotation.

I don't think I could have said what i thought Hibiscus would be like on its own, only that I thought it would be slightly acidic. On brewing it, the scent and even the taste are similar to the smell of wine. I'm not sure if someone who likes wine or drinks it a lot would agree, but to someone who rarely experiences it, there's a lot of overlap. I think this will blend well.

Once again- Twyla gave me a sip, and got me hooked. Got this for my husband, as he loves more tart teas.

Not bad. It's pretty good, I'm just not a super strictly herbal tea person. I like a bit of sweetness of fruit flavor in.

I was expecting it to be a fruitier taste. Solid tea. Definitely advise adding a little sweetener to it.

★★★★☆

It's a little light on the hibiscus and heavy on the black tea, which is okay since I like black tea. But if you're looking for a hibiscus tea that helps you wake up in the morning, this is a good one.

I love Hibiscus tea. I even drink just plain Hibiscus flower tea. I find I need to add more Hibiscus flowers when I make this tea as I like more hibiscus flavor. I opted to try this. It is a good tea. But, when drinking Hibiscus tea I really just want it made with straight Hibiscus petals.

Wonderful mix of strong black tea and subtle hibiscus flavor/aroma. I like to mix it 50:50 with the black tea with raspberry for a really nice blend

I wasn’t sure what to think about this one but wanted to try it. I really enjoyed it! Nice light flavor not too “flower-y” tasting. Good punch of caffeine to get me up in the morning. I would buy it again!

Always a good choice!! In our house, always a great base to add to any herbal tea

I don't like tart teas, which is why I don't like hibiscus. I added some sugar, which made it drinkable for me, and yet not something I would buy. 212 F Three minutes.

I generally love hibiscus in herbal teas, but this flavored black tea is just okay. I have a feeling that I would like it better cold-brewed/iced.

I didn’t care for it until I added sugar. It was a little bitter.

Update 3/23/25: I had the opportunity to try this tea again, and this time I brewed it hot. I was able to enjoy it this time around. The black tea keeps any sourness from the hibiscus in check, so one is left with a subtly floral, almost herbal flavored tea that, while not my favorite, is pleasant to sip. I'm glad I gave this one another chance.

I have learned through the CommuniTEA that I should cold-steep teas with a hibiscus base, so, naturally, I applied that knowledge to this flavored black. Big mistake. This is a black tea base with hibiscus as the flavoring agent. The resulting cold-steeped liquor was palely colored, weak, and all but flavorless. I hope I have another opportunity to try this one and do it justice since, obviously, a cold brew is not the way to go for me. I give this one three stars on the benefit of the doubt that it could be very good when prepared hot.

CommuniTEA sample: 3 min @ 212 F. Maybe I need to find a different way to prepare it, but I didn’t like this one. It smelled kind of like sunscreen, which wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t good either. It tastes very bitter, the black tea overpowers the hibiscus, which is only there in the aftertaste. The hibiscus is the only thing I kind of enjoy about the tea, but it’s not strong in flavor. I think that the tart aspects of the hibiscus bring out too much bitterness in the Ceylon.

Hibiscus is an ingredient I think I find most enjoyable in small amounts. When combined with the floral qualities of the ceylon the 'soapiness' taste becomes impossible to ignore. Still drinkable, but not a blend I would buy myself.

★★★★★

Can't wait to try this one iced. Have a cold now so went for hot. From what I could pick up the hibiscus played along quite well with the ceylon, which is different from many other hibiscus teas where it often hogs the spotlight. I think I even detected a hint of cocoa or something chocolate adjacent when it was very hot. Made for a nice floral black and the ceylon definitely held back tome of that tartness from the hibiscus. Will add to a future list for sure. 212° 3min

It smells absolutely delightful, but when I tasted it, it felt like it was missing something. Like it smells like it should taste more full, but it was flat. Fruity and bright though.

★★★★★

A strong black smoothed out by a fresh herbal flavor, this is a very good hibiscus and I highly recommend

This is my absolute favorite tea right now. For long time I stayed away from floral teas because when I first started getting into tea those were the ones I didn't like. This tea convinced me to go back and try some other flower teas as well.

This one was not my favorite. The hibiscus flavor seemed almost chemical-like and overpowered the black tea flavor.

I love this tea. I was wondering how hibiscus taste. It has a subtle fruity flavor not too strong. Very mellow, great before bedtime in my opinion.

★★★☆☆

While brewed at the stated time and temperature, this tea turned out much too bitter for me. No doubt brewing it for less time or at a lower temperature would help, but I just don’t feel that this particular tea is worth the fussing that that would take. There are better blends out there.

Update: As this was in my Communitea box I gave it another try, at a lower temperature for three minutes, and it was much better. I didn’t get any of the bitterness and it was quite smooth. I might actually give it another try.

This was almost the first cup I was going to skip in my first month of communiTEA, but I stuck it out. I very much dislike hibiscus teas but this tasted way better than I was expecting. Not good but only because I still really dislike hibiscus. If you like hibiscus you’ll likely love this tea, it’s balanced, sweet, and the much less offensive than straight hibiscus tea.

I’m actually pretty impressed with this tea. Black tea and hibiscus didn’t sound like a mix, but it worked very well! Bright and tasty. Next time I think I’ll either lower the brewing temp, or steep it for 2 minutes instead of 3, as I did find it a little bitter

Aug 24: huh this time it didn’t taste like much -? Not sure why

wow, I really loved this and it wasn't what I expected. I also thought 'hibiscus=Tart' and expected it to be that kind of 'Red' tea i'm familiar with. It actually tastes a LOT like the fancy 'Marco Polo' tea by Mariage Freres my friend brought me from Paris which is just described as 'a marvellously fruity and flowery black tea'. It didn't make me pucker up at all, and I really appreciated it as a black tea not a 'zinger' herbal.

I purchased this for iced teas and hot tea. When I brewed my first cup no deep red color, no hibiscus flavor. I realized I purchased the wrong thing; I should have gotten the hibiscus flowers to brew. That being said, I would not buy this again. Regular black tea flavor, but no noticeable hibiscus flavor. A disappointment.

I've boughten these so many times I can't count them anymore. They brew a stunning bright color tea that is inherently sweet. I add it to every single mix that I make.

I like to brew this and add fruit juice for awesome summer tea. Great flavor. Would order again again

This blend has vibrant and beautiful floral aroma. The flavor is tart and tangy. The hibiscus adds a touch of acidity and freshness to the blend. Adding honey or your favorite sweetener, will bring forward a floral swetness to the blend that makes very enticing.

I like this one well enough, but I think I prefer rose if I'm going to reach for a black floral tea, and prefer hibiscus in herbal blends.

Very tasty! It is floral, and adding some sweeteners help bring it out a little more. Otherwise it gets a teeny bit overpowered by the black tea imo. It just needs a little push !! It is delicious iced/hot as a dessert tea.

Absolutely awful. Undrinkable. Tried to brew it 3 times and comes out super cloudy everytime. Tastes like dirty feet. Would return it but the shipping fee and “disposal” fee make it not worth it. Worst one I’ve ordered.

I'm sure this tastes just fine (I haven't made any, yet), but I wanted just pure hibiscus tea for the medicinal benefits (lowers blood pressure). I thought that's what I was getting, as 'Black Tea' isn't very prevalent at all in the description and certainly not the name of the tea. The addition of the black tea negates the benefits of the hibiscus tea as the caffeine in the black tea RAISES blood pressure. I wish Adagio carried just a plain hibiscus tea with nothing else added (EDIT: Found a very expensive selection in the Spices, not teas). Now I probably ruined my Berry Blues, thinking the tea looked off, but that I was just adding additional hibiscus to it. I can't very well pick the black tea flakes back out of it now.

One of my favorite morning teas that go perfect with my pear infused honey. Refreshing and a perfect start to my day.

I think the black tea overpowers the hibiscus tea just a bit...but i still enjoyed it!
8/15/2021 - I still agree with this review...with one change. The black tea doesn't overpower the hibiscus 'just a bit'' but pretty much completely. I really got no hibiscus flavor, even though I could see hibiscus included in my packet when I opened it. Lovely cup of black tea though...and I really wouldn't have enjoyed an overpowering, very sour, cup of hot hibiscus. So, I'm good with it! :) Enjoyed it!
5/23/2022 - This time I was prepared and pulled out my bag of hibiscus and added a bit to my tea while brewing. That upped the hibiscus so I could taste it ... nice mix of black tea and tart taste. Love it!
6/29/2023 - Combined this tea with Key Lime Herbal and brewed a pot. Yum!!!

Lightly tart, bright, and with a backend floral hint at the end of a sip. It wasn't as sour/tart as I had expected it to be, which was nice. Would probably be good cold-brewed.
