White teas aren't my favorite either, but it is fun to try them. I always have my regular green and oolong teas to drink, if I don't like the daily tea.

I managed to finish all of my truffles for valentine's last night, and got them packed up for delivery with some spare for me. There's 3 kinds, and all were really fun to make. Taste amazing too

user icon
They look yummy!
12:04 am

very nice, what kinds are they- I love the boxes with the foxes- Actually just had to google plural foxes or fox , it's late, my grammar is gone...
12:06 am
user icon
The small round ones are Daydream Tea and white chocolate, the red ones are orange and dark, and the white ones are apple spiced dark chocolate. The foxes were fun to draw. I can't draw cupids, so I went with little foxes.

The salted caramel bar looks amazing- i adore the mix of salty and sweet together!

I’m not huge on chocolate in general but I LOVE that bar! It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty. @shannon introduced me it. Yum yum yum!

When I find them, they are typically called a tea cup with snack plate. I have a few, I think they are pretty unique. That was the only surviving cookie. A neighbor brought over a few.. So good💕

I have the same WillowTree piece on my bedside table! I love her work, and have collected several over the years. My Christmas tree includes a number of the angel ornaments.

Some of my favorites are the girls with flowers.

I also have willowtree pieces. Something about the figures and the peacefulness they send, sounds silly but not sure how to put it into words. Two of my favorites... figure representing sisters, and one that was given to when I lost one of my 1st choc pups, hooch, the girl and dog piece.

Thinking my willow tree figures may need to make it to some photos, I have an angle holding a heart that would have worked today :)

Today in my picture: the photo frame was made at a Make and Take book club that I use to go to, pre Covid. It was really fun! You would read a book and then while we discussed the book we would make a craft that went with the book. The flowers in the frame are felt and were cut out in the Cricut. I put behind the frame another one of my litter cutie food drawings, a chocolate covered strawberry! And then of course had to have a little Disney with a Mickey and Minnie Valentine pin. 💕 Happy Valentines everyone!
12:10 am
MR
those felt flowers are really beautiful! I have the cricut maker but so far have not tried using it with anything but cardstock. I will have to start experimenting a bit>

Yes, I miss it very much. Some of us still get together and talk about the book on zoom. But I miss my monthly craft with the books. It was fun to see how everyone would make their item. I was known as the Disney girl. and would somehow always in corporate something Disney or at least have the red and white Polka-dots. LOL
01:49 pm

Adorable and very creative! Your make and take book club sounds like so much fun. Perfect combination of reading and crafts, my two favorite hobbies. Your red polka dots go great with Minnie too.

When we got married, we had a small tiered cake for pictures and Costco buttercream sheet cakes for everyone to enjoy to their hearts' content. I liked the sheet cake the best. So whenever I have an excuse to buy a Costco sheet cake, I take it and enjoy the taste of our wedding all over again. So that's the story from this picture. I won't disclose what percentage of the cake I ate myself and how much was distributed into church take-away dinners that served as my excuse to buy it...
12:50 am

Costco seriously has the best cake!!!
02:13 am
user icon
I hear a lot about their cakes, I need to break down and buy one some day
09:27 am

Why are they so delicious? I love the whipped frosting for Walmart. The cake is usually good, but not amazing. I've never shopping Costco since the closest location is 2 hours away, but cake could be an excuse!

Looking forward to trying this tea in the morning. I've been enjoying cupid's cup, ripe for romance, and hugs and kisses the last few days. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
12:53 am
user icon
What does cupid's cup taste like? I was having trouble finding a good description.
12:54 am
user icon
Someone stated yesterday that it smelled like strawberry ice cream...and it does. The taste? For me it is typical of any other hibiscus tea and tart but still good. Maybe needs a little sweetener to bring down the tartness. I am not a fan of roses in my tea but can’t really taste it in the Cupid’s cup.
01:02 am
user icon
I liked Cupid’s cup. And it tasted familiar but I can’t figure out what. LOl I don’t like rose either in my tea and took it out of today’s day but I did not taste it in Cupid’s cup.
02:12 am
user icon
It tastes like the milk leftover from a strawberry cereal, but a little tart.
11:35 am

melted strawberry ice cream, but the hibiscus gives a tang at the end. I like it!

When people say "second steep", do they mean they are re-steeping the leaves, or that they only use half of the packet at a time?
01:35 am
user icon
I re-steep. But not today’s tea. I had difficulty finishing today’s tea. I rewarded myself with chocolate, for my efforts.
02:08 am
user icon
Usually second steep means steeping the same leaves again I think.
03:19 am
user icon
I re-steep the same leaves! Usually for a minute longer than the first steep.
06:16 am
user icon
As others said, resteep typically means resteeping the same leaves - all of them in my case .. that being said, there are a few who, depending on the tea I suppose, reserve just a pinch of the dry tea specifically to amp up the resteep first batch. In my understanding, if someone were to reserve 1/2 the tea to steep separately then that second batch would still be a "first steep" for that reserved tea - hope I didn't confuse the matter
07:03 am
user icon
I re-steep the same leaves nearly every time (unless I really dislike the tea--like the chili lime, hehe, or I have to leave the house before my second cup). The second steep is often weaker, but I don't mind. I never thought about reserving some of the leaves for the second cup. But sometimes I will add another kind of tea that I think will blend well with the flavors of the first. Here's a good read about re-steeping tea: https://www.divinitea.com/how-many-times-can-i-resteep-tea/
07:03 am
user icon
I don't usually re-steep...only because usually once I have had that tea I want another flavor profile. Good idea to blend second steep with another kind of tea! The exception to this is black tea...I do re-steep black tea.
10:33 am
user icon
Same. I almost always re-steep all of my packet.
10:46 am
user icon
My personal thoughts on re-steeping … Black teas: Add an additional 1 min on subsequent steeps. Whites, greens, and oolongs: Use the same or even less time on subsequent steeps. They generally need longer, +30 secs, steep times on first steep only to awaken the tea leaves in order to get their juices flowing. From what I’ve noticed, most whites, greens, and oolongs actually taste better on subsequent steeps. Pu’erhs: Use the same steep time as the first, as these teas are fermented and always have lots of flavors! Flavored teas and Herbals: Add 1 min to your steep time for subsequent steeps. However, they are usually only good for two steeps and lose their flavors quickly. Mind you, these thoughts are from my own findings.
09:48 am
MR
I agree that blacks, greens, oolongs and pu-erhs can resteep well, but I have never found a white that I can resteep- I find the flavour is very delicate to start with and I am never satisfied with a second steep from a white, also some blacks also lose most of their flavour. If I am going to resteep I need to get a good, strong second cup with full taste. I never do a third steep. But I also get bored with the same tea and so end up with 4 different infusers to clean by the end of the day!
12:54 pm
user icon
This would make a great subject for a video chat.
09:49 am
user icon
I concur with everyone here. With honeybush or rooibos herbals, I really feel they steep best one time, so for their second steeps I always add more dry "tea." I am like Lillian, every tea needs to be used more than once if I am going to spend good money to purchase them. If they don't I usually pass.
10:12 am
user icon
Yes, agreed. Herbals generally don’t hold up to re-steep and rooibos are hit and miss. But I try re-steeping almost everything.
10:48 am
user icon
To me brewing another cup means using new leaves. A second steep is using the same leaves twice. I personally like my tea on the weaker side. So I would often do a second steep. But to be honest with the CommuniTEA and my now huge stash of teas.. I act like I’m going to do another steep (leaving my leaves in the infuser) but then I usually go make something else. So my the end of the day I might have four infusers sitting with tea leaves. 😂
11:02 am
user icon
So does anyone else steep more than one tea at a time (different infusers)? 😂
11:16 am
MR
I absolutely do this- One of the things I love most about tea is that there is so much choice in being able to suit your mood- blacks for a bold, wake you up taste, green or oolong for a relaxing Zenlike break, white for a stress relief, I switch my tea as my mood strikes me, and end up with a bunch of infusers to wash at the end of the day- I actually have 6, and have actually hit days where they have all been used. I actually almost bought another set on amazon and forced myself to stop!
12:58 pm
user icon
Me too! Then I dump it because it was sitting around :)
02:41 pm

I'm a multiple cup drinker. Today I brewed a white tea, re-brewed it, compared it to another white tea, drank the Communitea tea, re-steeped that, then had tea with cream and sugar with my mom. All in the course of about 20 minutes.
08:23 pm
user icon
I re-steep the leaves.
01:44 am

I was pretty happy to get a week of communitea in my last order, and it starts with Valentines! I can't add my usual cream today since I'm fasting. A shame because I'd like it a lot more with it!

Without creamer more meh to me, with creamer I see the cup disappearing. Made edible sugar glitter (that being said it is sparkly...like sugar, but not really glitter like some of the available edible glitters). My picture today is to remind everyone to show their love... a latte :) the small acts we do everyday count. If you have a compliment say it, if you are thankful, say it, let those kind words and love go free!

Love your photo concept Today. I hear my fathers echoing voice, saying “if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all” and carry on. I made a pact with myself, almost ten yrs ago now, a little thing I do for myself, to show how thankful I’m, traveled some rough yet “inspiring” roads to get here where I’m today, so always I love paying it forward especially on a crappy day or over here on a Miserable cold dreary day.

For me, today's tea was just ok. I don't care for rose petals in tea...and my packet had an abundance of them. Didn't mix well with the chocolate flavor. Not a bad tea....but just not one for me.

Not my favorite valentine tea, although adding sugar made it better. I have been enjoying the love petal set and prefer them and their pretty pretty tins.
08:10 am
user icon
I find the chocolate teas are not as good for a second steeping. (The chocolate is gone!) so I oh so generously offered my son the second steep! I then went to Libra, which gave me the opportunity to compare. Libra isn’t quite as rose forward, and the strawberry comes through just a tiny bit more. (But I will admit to scooping from my tin carefully to avoid too many rose petals!) I think Libra wins for chocolate/strawberry goodness.
08:22 am
user icon
I really enjoyed this, as did my non-tea drinking husband. The rose doesn’t ambush and take over the flavor as it often does. Without anything added, I tasted strawberry, with honey it was rose. With milk it was strawberry again with just a bit of the chocolate flavor.
09:16 am
user icon
Very interesting to hear how the various additions impact the flavor of the tea.
10:14 am
user icon
Added some cream and sugar to bring out the chocolate and strawberry flavor of the tea. This tea is pairing wonderfully with the breakfast chocolate croissant. 🥐 🍫
09:30 am

Curious if any of you like to blend teas in your stash, and if so, what are your favorites? I love to add vanilla tea to other blends, because I think it adds depth and a subtle sweetness. So far I tried vanilla green, rooibos vanilla, and honeybush vanilla, but the vanilla oolong is on my wish list. I usually choose the vanilla that is the same kind of tea that I am blending it with (rooibos with rooibos, green with green/white), but recently noticed some fandom blends that mixed up the kinds of tea. So that is something I want to play with, too.
10:18 am
user icon
I have dabbled a little bit. My husband likes a little foxtrot with cha cha...I like honeybush banana nut with butterscotch. I also like to add mint to other teas. I have so many teas, I need to be a little bit more experimental.
10:29 am
user icon
Yes. One of my favorites is 75% Scottish Breakfast and 25% Yunnan Golden Curls. This blend added extremely pleasant amped-up malty and slightly sweet flavors from the Golden Curl to the Scottish Breakfast cocoa tastes. Yum!
10:37 am
user icon
I am trying to figure out my favorite black tea. I recently got the black tea sampler. But haven't really dived in to tastings yet.
10:40 am
MR
I am definitely going to have to try that when the Yunnan golden curls and Scottish breakfast both come back in stock- I have been waiting to try these for a while, I love a good malty black, and have been loving the Yunnan noir so far.

The black tea was a bit astringent, so i added some Bailey’s Almond Milk Liqueur and that helped bunches.

Lovely chocolate covered strawberries today. I can't decide if the rose petals improve the flavor or not. It feels more "Valentine-y". But not as authentic to the food.

For today’s photo, I dug out my book, Masquerade by Kit Williams. I SO wanted to solve the riddle and find the jeweled rabbit! I still have the Jan 1981 Read magazine from school where I learned of it and the newspaper article my grandma sent me years later showing it had been found. That first page always stuck with me; the Sun feeling sad. Well today, as it’s -12 out right now, we’re adoring every bit of love the Sun will give us! ❤️🌞

I’ve been feeling pretty down this v-day. There’s like nothing to do to make it at all special (and my restricted diet means I can’t even order food or anything later. This tea is a nice happy cup though, so that helps a wee bit.

Kevin find something that makes YOU happy. Are you a movie fan? They are playing some great old movies on TCM all day. Not a movie fan - crank some music on and dance like you don’t give a s***. Can you go out? Go for a walk. Play with your pet. Watch old comedies on you tube. Just do something. Everybody is going thru something and some just hide it better than others

Kevin, I understand! I'm on a restrictive diet too! No sugar, no alcohol, no dairy, no wheat, no tomatoes, no coffee, mainly plant-based (occasional chicken only). I've been on it for four years in May. I have been trying a lot of recipes on-line finding substitutes for things like cheese and sweets using fruit, instead of sugar, almond flour instead of wheat, etc. It is really hard sometimes, but I am slowly finding ways to rewards myself. Sending you lots of love and support. 💕

It reminds me a bit of Nestle Quik strawberry flavor. Somewhere in my childhood I had that. Didn’t like it then don’t like it now. I like to eat strawberries but I don’t like to drink them.
12:04 pm

The first time I tried it, I didn't like it either. Since trying it before, I've learned to steep black tea at a lower temp and that sometimes not all the ingredients are in the correct ratio. Not sure if that explains it for you, but it does for me. :)

I absolutely loved this tea!!! One of the best black teas we've had in a while. It's intoxicating. However, I must admit that I also love chocolate and can no longer have sugar so I am missing regular sugar sweetened dark chocolate.

@Jim and the Kroger run, your review was great!

I gotta be honest. Poetic license made me add that about Kroger! I told my wife what I said in my review and she said, “You dufas! You don’t have to go to Kroger, I love ya anyway.” I did get her a nice card, some red wine, and am making dinner tonight. She did however call me a cheapo earlier.

It's snowing! 💙 Having a cuppa black tea (Scottish breakfast and yunnan gold...I didn't have yunnan golden curls) watching the gazillion birds dance around my many feeders. I observe and report my birds to Cornell as part of Project Feeder Watch. I get so much joy from bird watching! Happy Valentine's day everyone!

I’m having Irish Breakfast from the black tea portions sampler. Scottish breakfast is much better! Smoother. But this isn’t bad.

Wow! Chocolate-covered strawberries in my cup this morning! I added almond milk and sugar, and it tastes amazing! Too sweet and decadent for having very often, but a very nice Valentine treat.

Today’s picture features my cat with with mustache. He enjoys smelling and checking out the daily communiTEA teas everyday. I have to keep the tea in a closed cabinet or the containers of tea become cat toys. I know cat nip is in the mint family but I don’t give my cats catnip and many of these teas do not have any mint in them.

From the iOS keyboard on your iPhone or iPad: 1. First hit the “123” button to see the numerical keypad. 2. Now you can access the degree sign by tapping and holding the 0 (zero) key. 3. This will reveal the degree symbol, and this can be selected through a pop-up menu that appears over the key. Android ... Switch to the numbers and symbols keyboard. As soon as I opened the packet I was hit with the smell of Chocolate. Smells so good and I can taste the Chocolate with Strawberry afterwards. Nice Valentine’s Day treat.

Really liked today's tea. Needed more so I improvised. 1 tsp Cuoid's Cup and added to 2 tsp of Chocolate tea. Wanted to add Chocolate Truffle instead but ran out. I steeped for 5 minutes in 16 oz. mug. Then decided even more choc. was called for, I added a raspberry truffle from the choc. box for a truly chocolatey tea. It had to do but it was great.

Interesting, I've decided that Valentines is a very finicky blend. First time I tried it, it was meh. Second time (today's packet) really yummy! Third time, (sample pouch) just now, it's "meh" again. It seems more bitter/astringent than this morning. I guess the black tea to flavoring ratio has to be just right.
04:27 pm
user icon
Despite my above observation.....sitting here, drinking tea, watching HMM, eating homemade truffles, listening to my kitty snore....life is good! 🥰

Normally, I'm not as into the chocolate teas, but this one was pretty decent. Perhaps it's the way the tea complimented the lingering aftertaste from the homemade Levain chocolate chip cookies I made...
04:41 pm
user icon
This one is just a meh for me. I really don’t like chocolate in tea, it’s super rare for me to like one. I also am not a fan of Ceylon. I brewed at a lower temp for a shorter time and was able to avoid any bitterness. I’ll finish my cup but this just tastes like cheap chocolate water to me.
04:43 pm
user icon
Mine is still bitter! I'll remember to try less time too. Usually a lower temp fixes it for me

Really disliked this tea, not because it was bad, but because I don't care for chocolate in tea. Who knew? It was my first time trying it. I can taste the appeal, it's just not for me. :/

Really enjoyed this tea. The aroma is wonderful. But would prefer Cupids Cup from last year

I typically do not like chocolate in my teas but this is very good. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this tea is. My whole family likes it and we will be looking for this in the future.

Good evening all! Took the new car (Honda CR-V) for a drive down to see my husband’s and my parents and visit a bit. Love my new car! Now time to wind down and watch the snow fall. Maybe one more cuppa before it’s too late for caffeine! Lilly, I’ll definitely be keeping the Kindness week in mind, and plan a few fun spread the love activities!
05:55 pm
user icon
Unfortunately mine wasn't chocolaty at all. A friend got the small sample bag though so maybe I'll try another cup sometime
06:09 pm

I do smell the chocolate from the packet though so I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of it's flavor

Non-tea related... Earlier today, an eagle was sitting on the huge electrical structure I can see out our kitchen window. I watched as it leaped off and flew away. Just now saw another one fly by from another direction. So nice catching a glimpse of them today.

Love this tea. I bought a huge bag of it a few years back and gave it away to folks but in the end I probably drank most of it.
07:14 pm

Very subtle berry chocolate flavor, I wish it were stronger. Don't brew too long because it will get bitter.

Somebody mentioned the other day about when we go back to eating at restaurants if we will be able to handle drinking bagged tea again. Well, today my husband and I ventured out for a 2:00 meal. ( Lunner?, too late for lunch too early for dinner) lol. We had planned on one place but it was too crowded and tables too close to each other so we saw this other place, got a very nice table outside way off in the corner, nice and safe. But it was cold, so I ordered an Earl Grey with Vanilla. I figured the worst-case scenario I had a hand warmer. I have no idea what the brand was because it was loose-leaf in a paper tea bag that you can tell was hand filled (Ie, Not Prefilled). It had Huge full delicious leaves. LOL So this Tea snob was pleased! LOL got myself a second cup with dessert. ;)

Sounds like a good find! I’ve never found anyplace that served loose tea, other than the mall Tea Shops!

I was very pleasantly surprised. This was amazing little restaurant fine! Everything is freshly made! You could yell the pasta was made fresh! We will be going back! 💕

I'm not sure I really get the separate strawberry and chocolate flavors in this tea, but it's still nice.

I really don't dislike this tea other than the rose petals! We also had the Cupid's Cup today - which was good but I think also had rose petals. The kids really liked it!

Way late to today’s chat, busy making a Valentine dessert. 🥰 Pic: my dad made a couple door decorations, each with two sides. The oldest has a pumpkin on one side for October/November and a snowman on the other side for December/January. This one is two cupids(?) creating and filling hearts. The flip side is a leprechaun for March.

My tea had plenty of pretty rose petals, but no chocolate (chips or nibs) or strawberries - so in the end it was rather bland, additional-flavor wise .. but at least I got a nice malty flavor from the black tea itself.. I’ve had an emotionally-wreaking, abysmal week, but today I got a bit of a saving grace by celebrating my nephew’s first birthday! (He’s actually the 2nd valentines bday in my family, I also have a cousin w/this bday) .. my sister tried to do a cake smash- but apparently he doesn’t like the feel of frosting so he wouldn’t touch it 😂

Out of curiosity did anyone happen to snag the ingredients and brewing instructions for the 2021 Year of the Ox sample? I was able to get some, but can't find the info and it's not on the sample tin.

Is the Ceylon used to make this (and presumably the other flavored black teas Adagio sells) available for purchase on its own? If so, which one is it?
