We have a ten-spotted ladybird stuck in the house, and last night, after seeing it scoot right up to a drop of water I placed by it, I cut open a raisin-y looking grape and put it on the windowsill. It’s been on top of that grape half ever since. It’s about to be in the 20s overnight outside, so I’m hesitant to toss it outside in these temps. Although I just read this: When one ladybug finds a good spot, it can leave a chemical signal that attracts other ladybugs to the same location. I certainly don’t want to attract a swarm😳 🐞, but it’s fascinating to picture a cloud of happiness surrounding the ladybird right now!

Michele, if you decide to attract ladybugs, inside or out, make sure you know what their larvae looks like. Most people seem to find them frightenly, kill-them-now ugly. Even when I show students pictures, it can be tough to convince them that they are ladybugs.

Not a throwback photo today, but a photo of the moon last night. Every other time I have tried to take a photo of the full moon it is too cloudy so I took advantage of a clear sky tonight. I do not have any Rooibos Pecan Turtle in my stash so will have to decide on another tea to drink today. I will get back to you later, after I have a bit more sleep. Goodnight, tea pals.

For throwback Thursday, I dug out what I believe is the first Gladys ever. Initially Gladys was very 3D you often only saw half her face as she was doing something with her tea. I started with her tackling all the rules for a tea party, including not blowing on your tea, not dipping your scone in, not adding milk to lemon tea, not putting your elbows on the table, not loudly stirring your tea with a spoon... I was quite a few Gladys is in before I realized she could go on other adventures shrink on the page and be in a full scene. She's gone through many different iterations through the years, tiny notebook gladys, dry erase gladys, watercolor Gladys, paper doll Gladys, and marker Gladys.....

Men Make Dinner Day? Oh, I wish!

Okay, the recommendation to celebrate marooned without a compass day includes trying to get lost and find your way back to civilization about a compass, but I think that sounds like a terrible suggestion! Also I've never actually used a compass to find my way around, and I'm directionally challenged, so I'm not sure I could find my way even with a compass! It also recommends just getting in nature and taking a hike, that sounds a lot more reasonable. I'm also a very cognitive person, so if I think of it metaphorically maybe it means thinking about where I'm stuck in my life and how I could change direction?

Our city streets are set up in a grid, so memorizing going from Ave A to Ave S you know you’re heading south… and 10th St west to 90th St west, you’re going west! It’s soooo helpful especially when my car displays the direction I’m heading on the dashboard ^_^

The idea of getting lost without a compass (or GPS) sounds horrible. Every year we have a few hikers who got lost and only a few are lucky enough to be found in a few days, though dehydrated and hungry. I think the idea of going out in nature is good and even clearly marked trails with a walking buddy (but not me as my knees do not approve of ground that is not solid and even).

Good morning, everyone! Sorry, I didn't really have a throwback picture for today, but I did choose a cute picture of Titus snuggling with my mom. Yesterday my work laptop overheated and shut off. It's brand new! I just got it on Friday. And this is like the 7th laptop I've had in just 4 months. IT probably hates me... But I'm not doing anything to the laptops, they just show up broken. 🤷‍♀️ Like this one the fan seems to be defective. Hopefully we can get it sorted out soon. I hope everyone has a great day! ❤️

My previous co-worker who is a slider. I kept a laptop for over 7 years but she has to get a new one several times a year. She can’t wear watches as they die. Her electronics at home (dvd players, printers, etc.) all die super quickly. It would be funny if it wasn’t so frustrating for her and she’s lost pictures on personal laptops and data and emails on work laptops.

The power to your house can be bad also and kill computers and electronics. You can put them on battery back ups that stabilize the power it receives by eliminating spikes and brown outs.

You can also have higher electric in your body. Greg, my husband, once tested himself on the science centers human electric meter and was over the top. You can buy things to touch and ground yourself before touching the computer.

My photo is a 3,000 year old throwback—a Shaanxi ceramic end cap for roofing tile. It’s got a couple of dragons pictured on it. At the museum exhibit, there were several of these end caps—each with a different image on it. The designs were often associated with specific palaces or offices. These tiles were used for the more important or significant buildings, like palaces and temples., indicating the importance and social status of the building's occupants. They must have made an impressive sight lined up across the roof of a building.

Good morning tea pals. I had a rough night...got up after sleeping for a couple hours and then had trouble getting back to sleep when I went back to bed. However, there are always naps! Hubby started the day with a yummy cup of Rohini Gold Wire and I had Year of the Tiger. My photo today is of the full moon last night. I had tried and tried to get a photo of the full moon but I would either forget or it was too cloudy to see it well. Last night I finally triumphed so I posted the photo today. I am really enjoying all the throwback photos, as well as current photos. Thank you for sharing. Jeanine, it is so good to see sweet Mixie again. I've missed her!

Sipping Black Jasmine Song and looking forward to hearing one of my favorite artists speak on her work. Sandy Skoglund does incredibly immersive installations (Revenge of the Goldfish is in my photo) that she then photographs to sell as a series. I remember the first time I saw Revenge it was on the cover of the Inspiral Carpets album of the same name. I didn't even know it was an artwork until I was in college! I never thought I would see Revenge or Radioactive Cats (another famous one) in person but the McNay did an installation of both pieces. They haven't been seen since the 80s. This art historian is in heaven! Love all the throwback pics but couldn't not share this :) Happy Sipping today everyone!

Well, today has taken a turn. We were going out and were just a couple miles from home when the car started vibrating strangely. I pulled over and we figured out the check engine light was lit up. So I very carefully (and prayerfully) headed back home. We called AAA and the car is now on its way to the dealership. I am glad we do not have any appointments as we only have the one vehicle. We just had it in for its annual service the last part of October. Well, we will just have to wait to see what the service people have to say. In the interim, we will shelter at home.

We are hoping...We spoke with the dealership and they are going to try to get it diagnosed this afternoon and get it back to us as soon as they can since we only have one car. Again, it is not causing us any undue distress as we have no appointments scheduled and, since we are retired, do not need to get to work. We also have plenty of food in the house to keep us going. Eating down the stash? And, of course, plenty of tea! Life is good.

Cassidy, thank you so much! Believe it or not, we already have our car back. The CEL needed to be recalibrated. I am amazed at how quickly they were able to take care of us. The dealership has always done so, but this was exceptional since it was an emergency and we did not have an appointment.

Mmmm, Rooibos Pecan Turtle is probably my favorite of Adagio's teas. I like it so much I've been working on blending it with caffeinated teas so I can use it as my morning brew as well as evening.

Good afternoon tea pals. I went for a hike and then lunch and 2 book clubs with a friend. We had a lovely time. I had my first cups of Keemun Rhapsody today and am enjoying it very much!

I misread this morning and started with rooibos nutcracker. I made the rooibos pecan turtle this afternoon and found them very similar, which isn’t surprising as both are rooibos, both have nuts, and both have caramel. It’s not as caramel forward as some teas, but still not sure that I will finish it as I am not a fan of caramel in tea. I love a chocolate covered caramel though.

My tea card countdown timer reappeared. It looks like my card is now due on the same day as before but about 1 hour later. I guess it shifted with the end of DST instead of staying at the same local time? Anyway, substitute tea for today is Fiery Cinnamon. This one is generally good for me, but being as spicy as it is, I prefer it sweetened (like chai teas).
