In Sacramento, most of the leaves on trees turn from green to brown, not the pretty orange and reds. If you go up in elevation about an hour away, much more fall colors

I love finding abandoned homes, wish I could have gotten inside but there was a fence around it. Always makes me wonder about the story surrounding these structures.

John, I know what you mean. There's a great Old Homestead Place built of rough hewn rock a couple miles from us and a couple years ago the kids decided to vandalize it. 😡 broken glass and graffiti all over the place, which broke our hearts. However, somebody must love it because they boarded up all the broken windows and it looks like they're slowly restoring it. I love those old homes they have so much character, unlike the tract home boxes that are everywhere now.

The older homes have so much more character, but also need a healthy budget to fix things once standard that are now known to be dangerous - knob and tube wiring, lead pipes, lead painting, asbestos wiring. Yet so important to keep the old charm. The woodwork was so amazing in many. And so much history.

Michelle, I will celebrate dictionary day. I love dictionaries and have the two-volume set of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, as well as the Compact Oxford English Dictionary (and a separate volume of the Compact Oxford English Thesaurus) I also have a huge 2,084 page American Heritage Dictionary. And, of course, a French dictionary and a dictionary of English English (Brit speak). My dream is to own the complete 20-volume set of the Oxford English Dictionary. And, yes, I have them by my reading chair and use them often.

Lots of good days again. Does anyone else hear the commercial play in their head where Oprah Winfrey says, “I love bread” (I love good bread too, especially challah or a loaf of Sally Lunn). World Cat Day is a must or my two furry overlords would object (though they think every day is cat day). I love dictionary and learning words. But Spine Day is very big for me right now. There’s really well known things like paralysis, spinal bifida, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and arthritis and disc issues. Then there’s thinks like cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, which can be traumatic, iatrogenic, or spontaneous, and which not even most doctors know about.

I may have just posted my favorite picture of all time!! Hip, hip, hooray for the pain meds!!!💜🐈‍⬛💜 Thank you everyone for all the love and support, around midnight she ate for the first time since Saturday, she was living off broth, and slurry I was forcing her to eat with an old medcine syringe. Man my heart, I know it will be a few days to get her back to normal but we're finally heading in the right direction. Sabby and I are sending love and hugs to everyone!! 💜🐈‍⬛💜 We'll check in later, we're tucked in for a nap on the couch💜🥰😘

It’s such a relief to see her eating again! Interesting how the medication helped reveal underlying pain; clearly more than just stress from the vet visit. It makes me think about how abdominal palpation is part of feline wellness exams. Maybe they pressed on a spot that was already tender?

Age, that is a glorious picture! I have a little guy sleeping on my chest right now that we thought we were losing about a month ago. Of all the silly things it turned out he wasn't getting enough food with the bigger cats, so he now has his own private dining car next to my chair. He's put on quite a bit of weight and is happy and healthy. So J-Dub sends love to Sabby, and lots of encouragement!

Can it be? I’m a little chilled this morning? In Texas? Sweet! I’ve been chomping at the bit to wear my Halloween leggings but it’s just been to gosh darn hot. I’ll wear them this morning and most likely switch to something less warm in the afternoon since highs are supposed to be 88. Today’s tea will be saved for a much colder day as ginger tends to warm me up. So I went with some Pumpkin Spice for fall feels. May your Thursday be two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻.

Not Friday but since I was home today I’m having a gifted friends blend - Irishman’s Ghostly Berry Haunt. It is so good. All the fruits blend so well yet each one pops out. My plump little blueberries, slices of strawberries, the apples holding the other flavors - so delicious! Great job Irishman! 🫐🍓🍎😋

Let's hear it for crystallized ginger! I have constant allergies and occasionally cannot stifle a tickle or cough. When we went to the movie today, in an effort to keep from disturbing other theatergoers, I put a small packet of small crystallized ginger cubes in my purse. When I felt the tickle start, I simply took ate a small cube and the tickle went away. That kept me from having to get a diet soda (which I do not normally drink) to sip on to keep the tickle away. It is a win-win!

I find sparkling water can sometimes help with throat irritation, rather than having to drink soda with sugar or artificial sweeteners

Kat, I don't think they sell that at the theater, and you are not allowed to bring anything in. I used to drink a lot of sparkling water but don't even do that any longer.

Our theaters carry 1 to 2 sparkling water options but I do live in California and it’s very popular here. Technically we aren’t allowed to bring anything in, but I have always carried a big purse 😁

I saw a recommendation to add crystalized ginger to apple pie and I thought that was brilliant and wished I had thought of it. Have not tried it yet.

When today’s tea was described as supercharged, I was super excited. I brewed it 5 minutes, tasted it, then brewed for another 3 minutes . I would have liked more ginger flavor. I brewed a second time for 10 minutes, which was better. I have a very high ginger tolerance, so I think I could throw this in a tea bag and leave it in the cup without ever removing it. I think I will probably stick to the Trader Joe’s 100% ginger tea (really just ground ginger) when wanting a ginger tea but this tea has a good variety of flavors and with being caffeine-free, I could drink any time of the day.

I found on the top left a box with two lines under it. If you select it a hide distracting objects comes up and then tap on the Google top quality. It says it only temporarily removes it though.

if you encounter it again, mix a small amount of it with either peach or raspberry or any fruit you prefer. A mild ginger kick goes well with fruit.
