Holiday Card and Tea Swap Enthusiasm

There was much excitement around the upcoming Holiday Card and Tea Swap, with Khrissi Satterfield enthusiastically inviting new and returning members to sign up and sharing a link to the form several times throughout the day. ArtyJen, Angelica Velez, and others expressed their appreciation for this tradition, sharing stories of decorating with the cards received and looking forward to participating.

A number of members, including A F, Andrea and Lynn, and Kat B, discussed experiencing lingering colds and shared well wishes and home remedy suggestions. The community rallied around age who expressed concern over their sick cat, Sabby, after a vet visit. Many, like Nancy, Paula M, and Michelle McGill, offered practical advice and emotional support, recommending foods and medicines and encouraging age not to blame themselves.

Not sure if I should call this super early or super late :) I was awoken by a cold dog nose on the side of my face. My boss wanted to go outside to patrol. Took GusGus outside and dutifully followed him around until he declared the complex monster free. Back upstairs and the little tyrant demanded his breakfast.....so waiting up until he is done munching kibble and I get the order to return to bed and keep him warm. Oh well.....he's a cute little tyrant. :) I'm good with my position as human servant. :) And he does keep the monsters away.....not a single cryptid or scary thing in the area. So, it's all good. :)

Alas, my dog overlord Rocky has an obsession with treats and my dog over lady Natty, while she is a fearsome barker outside, would much rather hide behind my legs if danger approaches. The true protector of the house is my son’s cat Milly Rock, she has no fear and will boldly stalk whatever prey she chooses!

My furry kitty overlord randomly wakes me up at night for pets. Why she doesn’t want cuddles during the day is a mystery. She also demands to know what I will eat for lunch (dinner is only sometimes) and she also demands cheese around now. I don’t think I will be able to have cheese for sometime after she goes. She’s 16 now and I tell her she’s required to get to at least 20.

I had to look up Ada Lovelace - what an amazing person. I mostly do good at being a FRUMP but occasional splurges (lots of tea in the last month). I love real sugar day. Between IBS and migraines, I don’t do well with artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, stevia, monk fruit, or coconut sugar. I do best with sugar from sugar beets or sugar cane, and small amounts of honey or agave. It can be so hard to find certain things with real sugar.

My Dear tea friend Sabby has been so ill since her vet visit, we took her back yesterday and there hasn't been much progress,I need her to eat, she has only had 1ml of slurry that she's kept down since Sat, she was fine when we brought her in this was a wellness visit, bloodwork, and butt check, i don't know what they could have done im besides myself, Jake is coming home on lunch with some broth made for cats that im going to try to get her to eat but im besides myself im so scared, I'll check back in a few hours but does anyone have any suggestions, I can't lose her, especially after a wellness visit gone wrong even though it's being blamed on her kidney disease but I just don't get it. I feel like its my fault for bringing her in. My heart

I'm sorry to hear Sabby isn't feeling well. Can you syringe feed her a bit? Sometimes that will perk up the appetite. It will at least get some nourishment into her. Also, there are medications to help with nausea (like maropitant) and to improve her appetite (like mirtazapine). Hopefully her vet can get you whatever is most appropriate to get her feeling better today. Hoping she likes the broth Jake is bringing home. Please don't blame yourself for this; you are taking excellent care of her with all you are doing and taking her to her appointment is an important part of that.

Age, it is not your fault. No matter what happens. You have been doing everything you could for her. She knows you love her and feels comforted by you. Keep doing that. Something for the nausea may help her want to eat.

Age, our vet recommended baby food but only the pure meat type preferably chicken or turkey when we had a batch of sick kittens years ago. Since then, whenever I've had an ailing Kitty or one who just doesn't want to eat I have used Gerber's chicken and turkey to help keep them going. If they won't take it by themselves I use the 5 mil luer slip tip syringe and just gently put it in the corner of the mouth and allow time to swallow in between. It seems to work pretty well. If you don't have access to syringes Walmart usually sells the little baby bottles for kittens, that can work well too just add a little water to the baby food to make it a bit thinner. See if that helps. I'm saying my prayers for all of you.

I’m so sorry, Age. That is so stressful. It could be the stress of the vet visit triggered a latent virus. My Lola has one (I don’t remember what but they said it stays in the system), so several times after I have taken her, she has had a kitty cold. She had to go in as she was losing weight. They started B12 shots, which apparently stimulates appetite in them and is a good boost for the immune system. They don’t want to eat food when they can’t smell it, so I was told that if wet food is warmed up a little, it can intensify the smell and they might be more willing to eat it. I feed mine the Nulo perfect Purees in the morning and it’s a bit of a slurry texture that they seem to like. Praying she feels better quickly.

I transitioned to Roaman’s bra camis some years ago after a funny infection. Underwire irritates stomach and makes me burp. I did find some wireless ones to wear when going out as the camis aren’t super supportive but are comfortable to wear around the house and work well when I’m lying on my side.

Friends, I shared a Padre Pio collage today, in CT Pics ...as I went for the showing of Padre Pio's Habit at his Centre Shrine, near me. It was wonderful, powerful and celebratory, in the vibes. Italiano flags everywhere! I found myself wishing that I could just call Mum Moon and say..."Wow, I Got right in to see the Robe of Padre Pio, absolutely no wait time!!" I became saddened....that I wanted to JUST CALL her..just hear happiness in her voice. But I thought of Thây Thich Nhat Hanh, one of his teachings....and realized My Mum is more with me than ever-- & I can just say the words to her in my mind, in prayer! She CAN hear me as she with me. My friend made ink/dye out of the acorn shells, and used it to dye yarn and to write with (using an old style quill pen!) They make their own period clothing and all kinds of stuff, I admire them deeply!

I brewed the campfire a bit trepidatiously because of the lapsong but hoping since farther down on the list that it would be a hint of smoke, but alas too much for me. I will just have to avoid any teas with any amount of it in there. I can’t do smoked meats either, aggravated asthma. So I brewed the last of my samurai chai and just let it go for 7 minutes and enjoyed it more today with the more pronounced flavors. Also still doing the echinacea and elderberry tea in and the elderberry syrup too. Looking forward to trying the Greek mountain when it arrives.

No bonfire for me-- hazelnut flavor, aniseed, AND more L.S. than I can manage. I do like tiny quantities of Lapsang to accent a blend though-- way less that 10%. The highest I've ever managed to drink was 20% but I forget what the other flavors/accents were. I should have written that one down!!! Maybe I did *somewhere*. It's time to lower the caffeine in my cup anyway-- too late in the day for high caff. I'm having a bagged tea right off the supermarket shelf tonight. ;)
